En Angleterre, en 1652, le jeune Robinson Crusoe s'embarque à bord d'un navire contre l'avis de son père. S'ensuit le dur apprentissage de la vie de marin ainsi que de multiples aventures. Après quelques années, il devient propriétaire d'une plantation au Brésil et là, se joint à une expédition qui vise les côtes africaines... qu'il n'atteindra jamais. Une tempête effrayante s'abat en effet sur le navire et Robinson, naufragé sur une île déserte, est l'unique survivant du désastre. Se servant de quelques armes et outils arrachés à l'épave, Robinson s'invente alors une existence solitaire, s'efforçant de rester en vie, jour après jour, et d'améliorer son quotidien avec les moyens que lui laisse la nature sauvage. Sa terrible aventure lui apparaîtra comme un châtiment après la trahison faite à son père. Les années passeront, longues, redoutables, chargées de désespoir et pleines de dangers. Mais Robinson saura faire face à chaque fois, tenace et philosophe, usant de son inépuisable ingéniosité et trouvant le réconfort dans la lecture de la Bible. Finalement inquiété par la découverte de restes de mystérieux festins cannibales sur le rivage, parvenu au bout de la plus pesante des solitudes, Robinson fera une incroyable rencontre : Vendredi, un jeune indigène, viendra bouleverser le silence et l'isolement...

I grew up watching the Disney movie Swiss Family Robinson. I saw this book at the library and foolishly thought it was the same thing. This book is not like that movie. If anything, it's more like the movie Castaway. (If anything, I said!)

The story itself was interesting and very telling of the world at the time it was originally written. 1719, people!! Religion was rife. Social structures, politics, the development of science, literature and the arts --- so much was going on in the world that Daniel Defoe lived in. In fact, one thing I really liked about this graphic novel was the 9 pages of history at the end. Did you know that the author was condemned by the supporters of the official church to spend three days in the pillory?!? (You know, a wooden frame with holes to lock the person's head and hands in?) How crazy is that?

Such a fascinating thought, wondering what one would do if alone on an island. Robinson Crusoe seems to go from relying on/ praying to/ giving thanks to God, to almost realizing he is his own God. Fascinating subject.

I can understand why this (the original novel) is a classic, but I also acknowledge that it could be boring as hell.

3.5 stars, rounded up because I appreciate it when I can read a classic by reading the graphic novel. Yay, graphic novels!

This book is very quite impressive but once in a while it got quite boring. This book is almost like the book, "Lord Of The Flies" because some events and themes are similar. I felt sad for Crusoe because he got shipwreck twice; the first time is when he ran away from home because he didn't want to become a lawyer and the second time is when he went to an expedition of slave trade. The ironic thing about this book is Crusoe was once a slave and yet he is doing slave trade; he was a slave for 2 years until he escape with another slave and befriend a captain. Even though he didn't get some of his father's will but at least he got some wealth back from the real estate in Brazil. Overall, this book should be read for all high schooler.

Well, I've read about as much of Robinson Crusoe as I care to. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that an adventure book written in the early 18th century would be heavily leavened with christian philosophy. I was interested in the setting, of course.. the concept of isolation, and of survival in the face of catastrophe is, of course, fascinating to me. But, once Dafoe finishes equipping his character with food and shelter, tobacco, and employment, he then winds on and on and on and ON about robinsons' getting right with the jesus. Yawn.

Robinson was clearly a huge jerk, a slaver, and a kitten drowning opportunist. For some strange reason I find little to sympathize with.

Rispetto agli altri due, questo l'ho trovato troppo veloce. Nel senso che, leggendo, non ho avuto l'impressione che fossero passati 28 anni. Forse perché si legge molto velocemente. C'è persino meno testo che in Il giro del mondo in 80 giorni.

I disegni sono un po' particolari ma mi sono piaciuti.

É stata dura, invece, entrare nell'ottica del romanzo. Tutti i riferimenti a Dio, l'educazione di Venerdì. Forse sono questi gli aspetti del romanzo che sono invecchiati di più e rendono difficile la lettura. Però ammetto di non aver mai letto il romanzo originale.

La prossima settimana ci sarà l'Odissea. Sono curiosa.

Conhecia o nome Robinson Crusoé, sabia que era a personagem de um livro, mas não sabia mais do que isso. Associava, não sei porquê, a Tom Sawyer (possivelmente vi algum desenho de Robinson que me levou a fazer essa associação). E conhecia o Sexta-Feira, sem saber na realidade se era uma pessoa, um animal ou um côco, como no filme "Náufrago", com Tom Hanks. É, aliás, impossível ler a história de Crusoé sem fazer a ligação.
Fiquei contente por colmatar mais esta falha na minha cultura geral, mas não fiquei com vontade de ler o livro original. Gostei das lições de moral presentes no livro, principalmente a ideia de que sabemos e conseguimos fazer mais do que achamos.

Miejscami trochę chaotycznie, bo najpierw mówi, że siedzi 15 lat na wyspie, potem, że 4 lata zajęło mu zanim upiekł chleb, ale kilka stron później wychodzi, że był 17 lat jak go upiekł. Więc nie jestem pewien, czy były takie skoki w czasie na kolejnych stronach, czy to błędy w tłumaczeniu. Ale czasem ciężko było mi usadowić czas akcji w konkretnym miejscu.

Рисовка хорошая, читать интересно. Но не покидает ощущение, что сильно сократили. Больно уж там быстро меняется сюжет. Если выпустить комикс раза в 3-4 больше, было бы интересно. Можно добавить какими-то деталями про выживание.

Tudo que me desagradou veio da história original - os aspectos "de quadrinho" da HQ são muito bem feitos.
