Yeah ended just like Revival...with a whimper and an unsatisfied flavor in your mouth.

World: The art is okay, consistent throughout but this arc didn't really bring anything special for this series, par. The world building here was good but still choppy. There was a lot of scene skipping and world building skips that readers needed to fill in the blanks. A lot of off page creation that was sloppy which left a rather unsatisfying taste in your mouth. The previous arcs did wonderfully in creating and this felt lazy and slap dash. The end was even more in satisfying but that's story issues.

Story: Argh what a waste of potential. The Vlad stuff should have hit emotionally more just like Cassie's parents but yeah it's just meh here, the Beanes just show up there is barely any setup for learning about them, lazy writing. The cross over was meh with a meh series, clearly all the A level crossovers are over. Then there is the finale, rushed, choppy and lacking in emotional resonance because of the writing. When all the victims and people who die in the arc happens it's not heavy, it's not powerful it's an afterthought. The agenda of Samhain is unclear, the execution of the pieces to tell this story rushed. This is a rushed end and a disservice to this group of characters I'm so annoyed.

Characters: Cassie was Cassie but we didn't really get enough time with her new status quo before the end. Vlad and his condition was just magically fixed by a lazy arc that should have been way more intimate and beautiful. The end with all the characters really lacked any emotional lunch.

Much like Revival the series ends with a groan, it's sad cause I was getting more and more into Cassie and Vlad and I wished we had more pages to slow the story down and have those wonderful character conversations we did in omnibus 1 and 2.

Oh well.

Onward to the next book!

I hate to see this series end. Cassie is really hot in a unique way and Vlad was monster who was really a good guy.

In this volume we see most of the major villains the duo battled over the years return for one final blow out. The ending was okay. Not the greatest, but not bad either. I was unhappy to see a few of the major characters not survive the series. (I won't spoil it here as to who.)

If you are a fan of slasher and monster films you'll enjoy this series, and if you enjoy sexy art with a hot gothic chick you'll enjoy it even more. I'd of course suggest starting with volume one, but at least you know the ending won't let you down when you get there.

I'm going to miss the sexy art more than anything, but still hate to see this series go.

They ended the story beautifully. It had a very sad ending. I loved the twists and turns. They tied up most of the loose ends, but left a couple of threads open to leave it for a futures sequel series. Overall, I am very happy with how they ended this story. They made a couple of hard choices, but I liked that they took risk. Great ending to a great horror comic.

Volume 5 Omnibus is a very satisfying conclusion to what has quickly become my favorite guilty pleasure in comics. Tim Seeley scripts the opening and closing arcs of the volume, and his thoughtfulness about these characters shines. "What are we?" an exasperated Cassie finally asks Vlad. We get our answer, as with most things in Hack/Slash, not so much in words but in actions.

Of the three omnibuses I've read of H/S, this is easily the most consistent in quality (writing *and* art). And that's especially impressive given how many threads the creative teams are working with here, introducing fun new cast members while giving adequate breathing room to the wide roster of friends and foes Cassie and Vlad have amassed since their story began.

My chief complaint is how several characters' deaths occur off-panel, lending a slightly rushed feeling to the pacing. I'd like to believe in a director's cut version of this story, characters with histories as lengthy as these would get the dignity of on-the-page final scenes.

But it's a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things, particularly as the franchise -- like the slasher genre inspiring it -- has already been rebooted. For me, getting to see how the original ride wrapped up was well worth the price of admission.

Awww, please don't tell me this is over! The fifth omnibus appears to bring the adventures of Cassie hack and Vlad to a close. Everything comes full circle and the slashers that they thought they'd defeated are back from the dead.
Now it's a case of no one being safe, from Cassie, Vlad and all their friends and family.
There are some interesting reveals and some shocking moments, but I hope Seeley et al keep the adventures going.
I just hope the movie adaption does this series justice.

I read this whole series right in a row. The ending for me really packed a punch in certain portions. Unfortunately, some of the characters I had forgotten through the course of reading. Overall, I felt the series wrapped up nicely.

(Zero spoiler review) 2.5/5
Currently sitting at 4.25, and goodness me there are some people who are either very non-discerning or are entirely too generous. This is absolutely not a collection of that calibre. I'll admit that for a reasonable majority of this book, I did think it was the best collection of the lot. I didn't encounter any artists that I thought were wholly unsuited to, or just not good enough for the medium. The stories, although they have never been anything to write home about, were solid enough, and I wasn't reading just to finish the book, as I had been doing in the past. But then the final arc reared its head, and it just hit home how bloody average this entire collection is, and how little I cared about it. The final arc is atrociously bad. I can't go in depth because I don't do spoilers, although some of the decisions, and the way these decisions were executed were appallingly bad, given how much of a build had come before it. I just wanted it to be over. This series is about as lightweight and limp as 'horror' can get. Thank god pooch provided the occasional ray of light through this dreary Tim Seeley mess. No thanks. 2.5/5

Might've had a few tears in my eyes at the end there. I knew it was coming. But still :(

I liked the art throughout this whole volume unlike previous volumes where it was hard to figure out which characters where who sometimes.

SPOLIERS--
What really annoyed me is that at the start of this volume Vlad was really sick and they had to go find his family to see if they knew why he has sick. Before they did that though all of a sudden he was better and back to his ass kicking self. Then the next thing ya know he's sick again. They find his family but they don't actually help him and his sickness. His random sickness was never fully explained or fixed yet in the next issue and onwards he was 100% better?? Was kinda annoying.

And done. And this one only took a day instead of more than a year. A fitting conclusion to the comic. Lots of throwbacks, lots of storytelling, very little in the way of filler. If I could remember the earlier issues a bit better this would have had more of an impact, as it stands I could barely remember a lot of the characters backstories. Still, Cassie killed everyone and all of the storylines were tied off perfectly.

Fun ride, recommended comic. Really different from what Tim Seeley is doing nowadays.

Kickass conclusion to the Hack/Slash series featuring three of my favorites including Cassie Hack, Vlad and Pooch. They battle a giant spider and psychosaurs in Monster Baiting and even team up with half angel/half demon, Merci Sparx in A Slice of Hell. Such a bittersweet roller coaster ride. I hope the rumor of a Hack/Slash return in the future is more than fake news. Crossing my fingers. Very highly recommended.

Hack/Slash concludes and this is so good and very powerful with the storyline, it’s starts off as a bunch of conversation that leads up to the action and once you get to the action everything takes off and you just want more and to keep reading more, these characters you feel like you are part of their adventures, it is great! The end of this omnibus was such a shock to me, I’m glad to know that there is one more to read after this!!

Is a decently well thought out ending for the initial run. I haven't read any of the Son Of Samhain series. I got choked up at parts.

Disappointing and underwhelming. The series jumped the shark when they became superheroes. I wish they had stuck with horror.

Cierre anticlimático sorprendentemente predecible que desperdicia el potencial de sus personajes y deja demasiadas puertas abiertas para ser el final de la serie principal.

I only casually dabble in comics. A comic-loving friend of mine recommended this knowing that I’m a horror film fan and I wasn’t disappointed. These comics are engaging, funny, sexy, sentimental, and feature a hot female lead. I think anyone who loves some good B-movie horror would enjoy this series.

An enjoyable visit back to the world of Cassie and Vlad with the possibility of a cure for Slashers. Does this mean the end of the pair's quest to rid the world of the undying killers?

VLAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

I can't believe this series is over; it feels like I've been reading it for many years. The reality is that I picked up the first omnibus at ECCC 2014, wanting to familiarise myself with Tim Seeley's writing before Grayson came out.

This series is funny. As in odd, but also laugh-out-loud hilarious. It's a cheesy horror comic with *such* a cheesecake bent (seriously you can lose count at the number of panty shots in one issue), but it has oh so much heart.

One of my favorite tropes is found family, people who for one reason found each other and clung to that feeling of finally being home. Which was, in fact, nicely summed up by an overhead montage by a radio announcer - superheroes are outdated, because as a society, we share the burden of helping each other. Cassie Hack may be the title heroine, but she saved so many people, and they in turn helped her save the world. Again.

Also, not only do the two lesbians survive the apocalypse (you may have heard about the fallout (heh) from the 100), but one of them and the bisexual ride off into the sunset. This little comic has so much to teach.

It's over! This is a series that's definitely a very guilty pleasure--there's so much about it that's ridiculous (not in a good way), and yet I've been so addicted to it. I think I wanted a really strong ending for the series, and Seeley didn't let me down. I certainly didn't love it--and there were a few things I didn't like at all--but I have to say that it was overall good: some big revelations, lots of nice summer-blockbuster action, and even some emotional scenes. I particularly appreciate Seeley letting so many of the characters be involved in the ending--it made everything seem like it was intentional. There were some characters whose fates were not what I would have preferred, but I guess it is what it is--we don't always get what we want.

Anyway, it's a solid resolution. I'll definitely read it when it comes back, but it won't leave me disappointed if that really is the end. I *will* however, be disappointed if Cat and Dog Investigations doesn't spin off...

A very solid end to a series of wavering quality. When it was good (like here), it was very very good, when it wasn't ... Overall, where are a couple of genuine surprises to be found in this final collection of Cassie and Vlad's adventures and it all pulls together into a satisfying conclusion. The artwork was especially strong in some of these issues, with a number of stunning pages that had me staring like a sex-obsessed teenage boy upon seeing his first half-naked woman in real life, rather than flipping to the next page to see what was about to happen.

Oh and then there's Pooch. The greatest support character ever - better even than Vlad.

If you've read this far, you're going to finish this regardless of any review you read here or elsewhere on-line. If you're a horror fan and have yet to be swayed, consider this a gentle push to give Hack/Slash a read.

A really good ending. Overall it was a great idea- the serial killing of serial killers from slasher movies. At times, the fact that different artists drew each segment was distracting but as a whole the series was interesting and the main character will be mentioned in gender studies seminars for ever.
