Exploring the States

Maine: The Pine Tree State (Exploring the States)

Rate this book
Maine owes its idyllic coastline to Ice Age glaciers. They carved the cliffs, bays, and inlets that punctuate Maine's rugged shores. Meanwhile, the state's interior is covered in vast forests of pine, spruce, and maple. This book introduces students to the land, history, and lifestyle of the largest New England state.

I finished all the Blast Off (level 5) books about countries of the world in the library. I feel I have learned a lot about world geography, its people, and places to travel to. This book on Maine was interesting. My wife Kristy and I have been to Maine on a fall foliage trip. She liked the lighthouses and I liked the tide pools. We saw an orange starfish in one of them in Acadia National Park. We have been to Bar Harbor, Maine. In 1607, colonists in Maine built the first ship in North America. 76% of the Mainers are in the service industries. Clam chowder and also lobster are favorite dishes.
