When a freak accident lands university graduate Aliza in a magical land full of savage beasts and supernatural beings, her only wish is to find her way home. That is, until a witch ensnares her in a deadly quest to break a curse and save this mysterious world from the grip of a vicious tyrant.
The fae prince has spent centuries trapped in an enchanted slumber, leaving his people at the mercy of a wicked sorcerer. An ancient prophecy speaks of a human woman destined to rid the kingdom of evil, but not all sleeping things should be woken.
If Aliza can succeed in breaking the curse, she will finally be free to return home. There’s just one problem - an ember of growing desire that promises salvation, or destruction…
Any story with vampires and flying horses has my attention. The witches and fae were bonuses! A well-written story. Book 1 sets up numerous storylines and characters and I can’t wait for the next book to start weaving them altogether!
As a fan of portal fantasy, I was thrilled to secure an ARC of Prince of the Tower, the first installment in Aimee Clinton's Wings and Whispers series. This book not only promises a captivating fairytale retelling, a genre I deeply enjoy, but also a unique twist on The Sleeping Beauty narrative.
Prince of the Tower is a rich tapestry of fantasy, action, and love, populated by fae, witches, vampires, and other magical beings. Yet, it's more than just a fantastical world. It's the story of Aliza, a reluctant hero thrust into a world she never believed existed, and who discovers she is the prophesied savior. Aliza's journey of self-discovery, her struggle to come to terms with her new reality, and her unwavering determination to help despite her own feelings of being lost, are deeply relatable and moving.
Let's just say now I want to find a cave with a hidden passage to a magical world with two princes waiting for me to save them. But, which one of them will be Aliza's salvation? I loved all the twists and turns, the heartbreak, the secrets, the betrayals, the friendships, and of course, the love.
The ending had me gripping my chair with anticipation and anxiety, and Aimee really weaved an exciting story that leaves you wanting for more. I can't wait to find out what awaits them all in the next installment!
Prince of the Tower will offer you - portal fantasy - reluctant hero - prophesied savior - faes, witches, vampires - curse and curse-breaking - secrets and betrayals - slow-burn romance
ARC Review 10/10 Has everything you could want in a book! Adventure, romance, vampires, witches, fae and much much more. My heart was swooning over this book, I couldn’t put it down once I started! Definitely can’t wait to see what awaits the characters in the future. Keep up the good work 🫶🫶
ARC Review! Thank you Aimee Clinton for this opportunity!!! I loved this book so much x (tried to be as vague as possible still a few spoilers) Sorry xxx
5/5
"Prince of the Tower" by Aimee Clinton is an absolute gem that captivated me from start to finish. When Aliza was transported to a magical land, I was drawn into a world brimming with savage beasts, supernatural beings, and an undercurrent of palpable danger. Clinton's world-building is rich and immersive, making the reader feel like they are part of this enchanted realm.
Aliza's journey is a rollercoaster of emotions, and I found myself deeply invested in her quest to break the curse and save the kingdom even if she was not... The plot is intricately woven with suspense, making it impossible to put the book down. The fae prince's enchanted slumber and the prophecy surrounding Aliza add layers of intrigue and mystery that kept me hooked.
What truly sets this book apart is the emotional depth Clinton infuses into her characters. Aliza's determination, courage, and the burgeoning desire she feels are portrayed with such raw authenticity that I felt every moment of her triumphs and struggles. The ending, in particular, left me in tears; it was as heartbreaking as it was beautiful and struck a perfect balance between sorrow, hope and humour.
Clinton also masterfully weaves humour into the narrative, providing much-needed relief amidst the tension and heartache. This blend of humour, heartache, and high stakes made the story feel well-rounded and thoroughly engaging.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the story is the complex dynamic between Aliza and the men she encounters. The apparent love interest initially seems like a perfect match for Aliza, but as the story unfolds, his cowardice becomes evident. His reluctance to face danger and his hesitation to use his shocking talents paint a stark contrast to Aliza's bravery and determination.
On the other hand, the true man of the story, though seemingly more heroic, is mean-spirited and harsh. His actions and words often come across as cruel, and his demeanour is far from the chivalrous knight one might expect. This character's harshness creates a tense and sometimes hostile environment for Aliza, challenging her in unexpected ways. Despite his abrasive nature, there is a depth to his character that hints at a troubled past and a heart burdened by secrets and pain...
Adding to this colourful cast is a sexy, leather-wearing French vampire who provides a perfect blend of charm and humour. His suave accent and flirtatious banter bring a lighter tone to the story. Aliza can't help but roll her eyes at his dramatic entrances. His presence adds a delightful layer of humour and danger, especially when Aliza finds herself all too tangled in his snare...
"Prince of the Tower" is a breathtaking tale of love, betrayal, and sacrifice. The ending was both heartbreaking and amazing, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next instalment. Aimee Clinton has crafted a masterpiece that will linger in your thoughts long after you turn the last page. I can't wait for book two!

This was so enchanting. It's a beautiful twist on sleeping beauty, but the damsel in distress is actually twin princes cursed by an evil sorcerer aka their scheming uncle, and they're saved by a reluctant human who stumbled across this magical world and just wants to go home. Aliza is thrust into a journey of self discovery and navigating an impossible world filled with monsters and lies, all due to a prophecy she's somehow meant to fulfill to embrace her role as the saviour Queen. This story had me hooked well and truly, I loved the world, the twists, the slow burn building romance, and the characters do not disappoint - with a delightful mix of personality traits including stalking, possessive, grumpy, brooding, stubborn, determined, witty and sassy. I loved how it explored vulnerability and desperation, some revelations were truly moving and heartbreaking, as were the betrayals. The final pages were a whirlwind of emotions that I didn't see coming. Very excited for the next book!
🦄 "It was no mere chance that saw you take a tumble in those caves. You are supposed to be here. You have come to break the curse. You are here to save us all" 🦄"I know you're there, human... You walk with all the grace of a rampaging dragon" 🦄"What if I want you to belong to me" "Then you're about to get a crash course in disappointment" 🦄"She'd driven me mad, and in my madness. I'd found the light"
And wow is all I have to say , you go through a rollercoaster of emotions with the world build the emotions run high This books makes you look at situations for a different angle which I think is great
The character development is spot on I feel the enter twined emotions that follow really draws you in and your ur invested
If I could give this 10 stars I would.
Comfortable read at just over 600 pages does not feel like a slog where you have to take brakes
This is build your book den get comfy and escape reality for 3-4 hrs and not realise you have been in your den untill you have to go toilet due
Yes def a book I would recommend again and again and again
ARC Review: I LOVED this book! It was so refreshingly well written, unique and unpredictable. So many times books seem to follow a similar formula, but this did not. I am usually good at predicting endings or next events, but I was so happily surprised with this book that I could not. I read it in two days. I cannot wait for the next two installments! Aliza is so relatable and REAL, I felt like I was experiencing everything with her. I am so glad I read this book and entered this world!

☁︎This book is the epitome of grumpy and sunshine! I admire the portrayal of both characters, one who wants to help but still is looking out for herself while the other is reckless with his life until her. This is a definite slow-burn series with a unique twist on fated mates! The world-building and plot development was extraordinary, this book took its time to build itself but it definitely didn’t disappoint! Cannot wait to see what is in store for them next!

ARC review! Guys! I absolutely loved this book! I was in a reading funk and was looking for something to really pull me in. Prince of the Tower is definitely my first 5 star read of the summer! I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book! While I generally read more “spicy” books, the fantasy and character building in this story is top tier. I throughly enjoyed every minute of reading this book. *side note* Can we talk about the titles of the chapters!?! Some of them had be cracking up! My husband kept asking me if it was something in the book so I had to read him some examples. For my first ARC read I am pleasantly surprised. If someone is needed to read the second I volunteer as tribute!! ;)
Ive been sitting on this review for a bit since ive finished the book in one sitting the afternoon it was sent to me. And the more time passes, the more I keep thinking about it.
Prince of the tower is book one in a new romantasy series and dare I say, one of my new favorite stories. The world is very fairy tale vibes with fae, faeries, witches, vampires, winged horses, all the goodies. The FMC, Aliza with an A, accidentally ends up in this fantastical world as your typical birtish girl and slowly finds out she is the only one who can break the curse upon the land by waking up the sleeping prince in the tower(hello reverse Sleeping Beauty) and the rightful king to the throne.
The book starts off a bit slow, as there is a lot of world building, but I absolutely enjoyed it. There are several different creatures, lands, an epic quest and then we finally meet the MMC. The second half of the book is a lot more fast paced and I was eagerly turning every single(kindle) page.
I loved the main characters, the side characters, the world, there are plot twists, betrayal, one(flying) horse trope, high stakes. Aliza, despite being a human with no special powers or special skills, was very likeable and I enjoyed following her thoughts. Written in first person, dual povs, no spice but lots of tension with more to come in the next installments.
Very excited for the rest of the series and if you're interested in meeting a brooding prince with lightning powers, give this one a go!
The author very kindly let me read an ARC copy of this book and I absolutely loved it. The world building was great and the story itself kept me gripped. There was adventure, romance, Fae, witches, vampires and so much more. The character building was great so I found myself emotionally invested in the characters and I am keen to see what happens in the next book. It's a very girly cover but the story isn't extremely girly, it's exciting and well written. It is a long book but it didn't feel long and that is the best type of book, you get so lost on it you don't know where the time went. The main character was very relatable too which I loved, it's nice to read books and see yourself in it. I definitely recommend this book! Now I'm desperate for the next one 🙈❤️
Okay this one did take me a while to read but I got into a book slump and then life just happened and… yeah.
Anyway, it did take me a little while to get into it but once I was I could not put it down! I knew Anwir was a tricky one from the moment he was mentioned. And Idris! Ah my poor baby I just wanna give him a hug. So many things happened in this book where I was on the verge of tears (both happy and sad) and please bring back Jacques the poor baby vampire was starving he didn’t mean it.
I can’t wait to read number two. I already have it ready to go!!
This was my second fantasy book and I was over the moon to get it as an ARC, I really enjoyed it! I thought it was very descriptive and felt like I was part of this world and didn’t want it to end. It’s filled with action, love and twists & turns, I never knew what was going to happen next. No spice (which I love) but honestly can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out as I’m intrigued of what’s going to happen next
This was a super fun and exciting story, filled with fantasy and adventure.
I absolutely loved the FMC, who is a breath of fresh air and remains focused on her goal throughout.
Although this story is a fantasy, the struggles and the personality of the characters feel real, and the little sprinkles of “reality” throughout brought an extra quality to this story.
This slow burn, enemies to lovers is filled with wonderful characters, and the story itself has a few open ended moments that really opens up so many possibilities.
This story has banter, humor, real deep heartache, betrayal, things that aren’t as they seem and adventure.
Aimee...thank you so much for allowing me to be an ARC reader! I loved this book, so much! I don't think I've ever read a book so quickly! Especially one of this length. Normally it takes me a few chapters to decide if I love the book or not... not in this case. I was convinced after a few pages! It was so unique! Slow burn romance, headstrong FMC, fae, witches, etc... need I say more! 10/10!
I was so lucky to receive an ARC read of this book and all I can say is wow
The author has done an amazing job building the story and the world and bringing you on a roller coaster of emotions and Aliza definitely has a piece of my heart
The love I have for these characters is ridiculous and I cannot wait for the next one to be released go get this book on release day you will not regret it.
This book made me feel a lot of things (and only in a good way). It was a lot of world building the first half of the book, which made me a little impatient, but knowing it’s not a stand alone, it’s perfectly fine. I connected with the characters, especially the FMC. Love her! And the chapter titles makes the book worth reading alone.
I lovedddd this book overall. It’s a sleeping beauty retelling where the FMC is forced to rescue two cursed princes from their tower in order to return home. Full of betrayals, plot twists and a ton of foreshadowing you won’t catch until the end
Checklist of all our favorite fantasy things ✅ Hot fae ✅ Witchy bestie ✅ Vampires ✅ Cute little fairies ✅ Pegasi ✅ Slow burn ✅ A love interest you want to hate, but can’t
This book was an ARC read for me and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read it. I didn’t want know anything of the book before I started, which was so nice once I started reading. I was hooked right away and couldn’t put the book down. Right from the start you are sucked into the story of Aliza with and A and you just wanna keep reading.
It’s a slow burn fantasy/romantasy that has mythical creatures, Fae, witches, vampires and lots more in a beautiful world not far from ours…. Loved the FMC and the plot twists especially at the end! I cannot wait what’s in store for Aliza in the next book!
This book had me captivated from the very beginning. The world building, the characters, and of course Aliza. Her personality was so easily to love & I couldn't stop reading to find out where her story would go. 10/10 recommend this to anyone looking for a great fantasy read!
I'm so happy that I got to read this book! If you like mythical creatures, a strong fmc and romance, this is the book you need to read. It's so well written and everytime you think you have things figured out the story goes the opposite way. Can we have the next book(s) please?! I really need this story to keep going and can't wait to read what will happen next.
I got an ARC for this book ! And I am not disappointed! It was everything, as soon as I started I could not put it down ! It was funny and so easy to read ! It kept me on my toes and guessing all the time and I loved it ! I am so ready for the next one to see where this adventure takes Aliza and Idris (the tension between them was so 🔥🔥)
The story of Aliza captures your attention immediately. From the start of the book, she is a relatable, no-bullshit character. The tension between her and the prince is amazing and (even though there was a certain vampire who caught my attention ;)) I rooted for them to come together at the end, the perfect slow burn. This story is captivating, fun, and I absolutely loved it from te start to the very last page. Can’t wait for the next book.
Prince of the Tower, the first book in the Wings and Whispers series, is a captivating tale of a young woman named Aliza who finds herself in a magical realm after falling through a hidden portal. As the only human to end up in the realm in centuries, Aliza soon realizes that the fate of the realm lies with her, she must break the curse that is holding twin Fae princes captive in a state of slumber.
However, not all is as it seems in this magical world. Promises are not as enchanting as they sound and come with more than Aliza bargained for. She must navigate through lies and loss, facing both dreams and nightmares. The dynamic between Aliza and the twin Fae princes adds an intriguing layer to the story. As Aliza delves deeper into the mystery of the curse that binds them, she forms a complex relationship with each of the princes, each with their own motivations and secrets. The interplay between the characters adds depth to the narrative and keeps readers guessing about the true nature of the curse and its implications for the realm.
As Aliza fights to save her own life and the lives of others in the magical realm, she is faced with unexpected challenges that make her question who she is and what she wants from her life, will Aliza ever find her way back home? Will her life ever be the same as it was in the human world? Should she stay and fight the dark magic that threatens this world? These questions drive the plot forward, keeping readers engaged until the very end.
In addition to the captivating plot and well-developed characters, Prince of the Tower also excels in its world-building. The Wings and Whispers series, the magical realm that Aliza finds herself in is richly detailed, with vivid descriptions that bring the world to life. From enchanted forests to mystical creatures, readers will find themselves fully immersed in the fantastical setting.
Overall, Prince of the Tower is a spellbinding fantasy novel that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Wings and Whispers series. With its engaging storyline, well-crafted characters, and immersive world-building, this book is sure to captivate fans of fantasy and romance alike.
I had the absolute pleasure of receiving an ARC for Prince of the Tower and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Prince of the Tower is the first book in Aimee Clinton's Wings and Whispers series; it's a Sleeping Beauty inspired modern fantasy where modern girl meets fae prince.
I am a sucker for storybook inspired books/ retellings and Prince of the Tower really made it's way onto my favorites list! Aimee Clinton adds her own twists to the sleeping beauty tale and creates a world that is not just fae but includes witches, vampires and a winged horse!
Aimee Clinton's writing really flows with the progression of the story; as our heroine grew more confident with herself and her situation, the writing grew more confident as well. The emotions that coursed through the fmc; Aliza, truly broke through the pages. This made me feel more connected to Aliza because anything she was experiencing; whether it was within herself or within the world or even how she interacted with other characters, was easily expressed throughout the story. As Aliza began to understand the world and the individuals within it, we also began to learn and understand alongside her. Aimee Clinton truly does a great job with setting tone and utilizing a characters voice to portray what the characters are going through.
Prince of the Tower is an amazing start to the series; it sets the tone for the series by having great worldbuilding, we're introduced to the overarching plot and we come to know the characters and who they interact with each other and the world they live in.
I truly enjoyed reading Prince of the Tower and I am excited for the continuation of the Wings and Whispers series.
I do recommend Prince of the Tower especially if you love: -Slow Burn Romance -Grumpy/Sunshine -Storybook inspired stories -Sleeping Beauty vibes -He Falls First -The Chosen One -Tragic Backstory -A Flying Horse -Fated Mates
This was a beautiful and easy read with a sleeping beauty inspired adventure.
Keywords: Fantasy; YA; A curse; 2 princes; The chosen one; slow-burn romance; variety of creatures (fae, witches, vampires, monsters,...); Adventurous; Funny; Emotional; Mysterious; Secrets; Betrayal.
Our FMC, Aliza, is a 24 yo human who fell through a portal by accident and gets stuck in a magnificent fantasy world. She is the chosen one that has to break the curse to wake up the 2 princes, to save this world.
Positive thoughts: I love that the chapters have titles, they give a little taste of what is to come.
I really love the beauty of the world and the variety of characters. I just couldn't put down the book after the questing started to break the curse. This story has funny, dark, emotional and romantic moments. So many loveable characters! I was instantly obsessed with one of the 2 princes, Idris. He is the type of character who wants everyone to believe he is a jerk but he actually is the sweetest. I'm in love with him. My favorite chapter is 25: a scene between Aliza and Idris and a flying horse.
The plot is good, I enjoyed the exploration of the world and the adventure. The ending was not expected with some plottwists here and there, it got very tense and emotional and I loved it! You just want to know what happens next.
Conflicted thoughts: The first +/- 6 chapters were a bit hard to go through. These chapters could have been a bit shorter as it felt like too much word dumping of no importance but especially cus of the repetitive part. The amount of times Aliza mentioned she wants to go home to her parents; wants to run the the portal; realising she is the only one to break the curse and has to stay; is crazy! At some point I got really annoyed BUT eventually that subsided and I really recommend you to push through those chapters because it is worth it!
Overall this was an amazing enjoyable read and I am glad to have read it.
fantasy reads can be a hit or miss, but my gosh this one is a HIDDEN GEM amongst the plethora of fantasy books! this was the perfect slow burn, the perfect mix of plot and action, the perfect mix of character development, and the perfect mix of setting scenery and description without being overbearing and long winded. you were easily painted with the lush, beautiful land of Neath, the fairies and the creatures that inhabit it. we were given a structurally sound lesson on how the witches and their castle grounds work, and I do hope to see and hear more about the part of the land that the evil tyrant rules. book one definitely sets you up for the real action to begin in book two, and I really enjoy the fact that there’s a connection between the mundane world we know and this magical land. it balances it out well enough that you aren’t pulled out of the story, and can I just say I LOVE Aliza! I think she was a lovely and fleshed out FMC. Whilst the ‘chosen queen’, she’s just as human as you and I. She doesn’t have any fancy powers, she’s not amazingly beautiful and petite, she’s actually rather tall, doesn’t talk shit, and genuinely big heart, a beacon in this world’s darkness simply by the care and laughter she brought to those around her. I love the fact the princes were packaged to us in a way you predictably thought it would go, and then yanks the cloth out from under you. let’s just say anwir is on my shit list, and Idris is my pookie who I will protect with my life. I really really enjoyed the weaving of magic, and almost sort of wizard of oz feel with Aliza’s ultimate goal to end up going home before she’s thrust into this magical adventure. the romance was just enough to keep you wanting more, and set up perfectly to be explored in book two!! I cannot wait to read!
