LOU Keep my head down and get through university. Make a friend or two over the next few semesters. That was the game plan. Easy, simple, and relatively painless. Fast forward to move-in day and that plan gets body slammed across the front lawn in the shape of some hotshot rookie. And now he won’t leave me alone.
WES I’ve never met anyone I can’t befriend. It’s not a flex, it’s a simple fact. I love people and people love me. At least that’s how it was until I accidentally plowed down a pretty resident the other day. She isn’t my biggest fan right now but I’ve got a plan to wear her down. Based on what I’ve seen, this girl doesn’t have too many friends so I’ve taken it upon myself to be the first. She can thank me later.
Jade Everhart writes heart-warming romances with flawed characters and laugh-out-loud banter. When she's not using her own terrible meet-cutes as inspiration for her next novel, Jade spends her time listening to loud music and tearing up dance floors from the prairies of Southern Alberta to the glistening beaches of Miami. Wow wow wow!!! I cannot say enough good things about this novel!! This feel-good coming-of-age story set in small town southern Alberta will leave you reminiscing of your own university days. It takes you back to the nervousness and excitement of moving out for the first time and self discovery that comes along with it.
The characters are relatable and unique and the friendships stronger than vibranium portrayed in this novel will leave you with a feeling of nostalgia of the adventures you and your uni pals got up to.
This novel will have you laughing out loud the entire way through, and it will leave you reflecting on how we get to choose what version of ourselves we put out into the world.
Overall a phenomenal read and a sensational debut novel by Jade Everhart! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next, I know I’ll be impatiently waiting for her next read!
“The feelings stirring up inside me as I look at the guy across the table feels too genuine to throw a label as cheesy as romance on it. But maybe that’s just it. Maybe you spend your whole life seeing the world through one perspective that when a new one comes along, when a new person comes along, suddenly all the labels you applied to yourself, and to the world around you, suddenly become transformed to the point where you can’t remember where they stemmed from in the first place.” — Rating: 3.75 ✨ Smut: 0.5🌶️ — It was a great experience going back to read Jade Everhart’s debut after reading book 3 in this series. I fell in love with these characters all over again and was so happy to be back in this lacrosse world. Jade has a way of writing that makes me feel like i actually know these characters and they’re all my friends, it’s one of her great strengths, in my opinion!
For Lou and Wes, boy oh boy did this slow burn SLOW BURN 🥵 When playboy Wes quite literally falls over (and onto) socially anxious Lou, a new friendship is formed. Wes’ way to instantly sense Lou’s discomfort and help her grow throughout this novel was one of my favourite parts. This man is not only the consent king but is also SO comforting🥹
Throughout the story, Wes and Stella are two positives in Lou’s life, a far cry from her lonely high school years. Both of these fabulous characters help her grow out of her shell and find confidence. I was rooting for Lou so much, especially as so many aspects of her anxiety reminded me of myself, so I loved that representation.
I would have loved a bit more depth to Wes and Lou’s connection but definitely enjoyed all of the banter.
Overall, if you love:
🥍 Reformed Playboy and social butterfly MMC 🥍 Socially anxious, introverted & virgin FMC 🥍 Sports, university romance (lacrosse) 🥍 Fantastic side characters
This was such a fun, cute story that had great banter and lots of nostalgia. That is told in dual POV. I've never read a lacrosse sports romance before. I loved seeing the sports aspect since I'm not too familiar with the sport.
Lou is a freshman at Tabers University where she has a run in with Taber Tigers lacrosse rookie player, Wes. I loved Wes. He was funny, very charming and so down to earth. Lou was such a relatable character. I loved seeing her growth the most. She was so shy at the beginning of the school year, but has time progressed she became more sociable and confident in herself.
Another comfort couple and story to my pile! This was such light and fun read. Even though I laughed and giggled so much while reading it, there also were serious and important moments. Lou my baby, I adore how throughout story development she found her ground and stared to accept new challenges. Wes literally to the core type of book boyfriends that always found their way on the top of my list. How he carrying personality not only to his close ones but to everyone in general are truly beautiful. I really enjoyed the dynamic in this couple, and how found family/friend group started developing. Friendship are taking special place in this book.
👩🏼🎤🥍I hope Wes falls harder and faster because my tolerance level will turn to dust soon. He's the definition of frat boy. Not in a bad way mind you, more like not my type way.
👩🏼🎤🥍Ok Lou is too awkward. And does she have social anxiety? They didn't really explain it.
👩🏼🎤🥍When would Wes stop sleeping around?😏 And Lou better not be a V.
👩🏼🎤🥍Now here's a proper friend. Who actually cares and understands you. Who doesn't exist just to push you on the relationship and actually tells you to be careful!
👩🏼🎤🥍I won't add the "He fell first" trope here.
👩🏼🎤🥍I really don't know why I was expecting too much. But that was my fault. It's a okay book but my expectation ruined my experience. It wasn't that funny and the romance was surface level, they didn't go too deep.

💙 This book was so cute, funny and gah got me smiling at work😭 Wes, OMG. This guy please, where do we actually get these types of guys please? Asking for a friend.👀 He is so caring, and ugh HOW CAN YOU NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS GUY? HOW?
💙 The banter between Lou and Wes was my favourite please, it had me grinning, laughing, they were so funny, but so so damn cute with each other.
💙 I loved Wes and Lou so much and I can't wait to read the next from this series🥹 This is the first time I read a book with the Lacrosse players and I LOVED IT🥹🫶🏼
This was a really cute book. It was lighthearted, funny, sweet and had a bit of spice.
It reminded me of starting at Uni and trying to navigate your way in a new world. Lou had a hard time in high school and is nervous about the same thing repeating at Uni. But with the help of her roommate and a couple of new friends, she finds herself opening up more and discovers who she wants to be.
Wes is such a golden retriever. He's funny and cocky in a way that makes him adorable. Watching him pine after Lou was the cutest.
This book was so funny I was laughing out loud in so many instances. The slow burn was beautifully done. Overall there wasn't a chapter where I was bored. If you are in a slump this is the best book to help you get out of it
A cute college romance with some serious LOL moments. Wes was hilarious! And I LOVED his banter with Nico. I struggle with younger aged college romance books because they just feel so young but this book was so adorable. A solid 3.5 stars.
55 procent. Saai eigenlijk. En moeten we nou medelijden hebben met een fboy die al 3 weken geen seks heeft gehad omdat hij haar begint leuk te vinden? Schei uit.
I Blame the Dimples by Jade Everheart is a great character-driven story that was a perfect palate cleanser. I just love Jade’s books, and this one was no exception—it’s a fun, quick, and thoroughly enjoyable rom-com.
The story follows Lou, a girl with a simple plan to get through university, and Wes, a hotshot rookie who, on their first meeting, accidentally trips her and won’t leave her alone after. He's determined to win her over, and based on what he's seen, he’s taken it upon himself to become her first friend. Their unusual meet-cute sets the stage for a delightful story of two people who navigate life and love in unexpected ways.
The best part of this book is the characters. They are so relatable and fun, and I just loved their banter and how they genuinely became friends first before anything more. The friendships in this book are fantastic, and I especially loved how supportive Wes is and how he helps build Lou up throughout the story. The side characters help make this go from good to great. Stella is everything we want to see in a support hype girl.
Overall, this is a heartwarming, feel-good read that will leave you smiling. Troupes: college romance, sports romance, friends to lovers, playboy MMC x virgin FMC Spice 2/5 Plot 4.5/5 Pace 5/5 Character Personality 5/5 Character Growth 5/5 Writing Style 5/5 World Building 5/5

This was my first lacrosse romance and I really enjoyed it - set in a university setting was an added bonus!!
