“Fae. They’re real. They’re walking amongst us, harnassing powers that are slowly bringing earth to its knees.” The world has been slowly dying for years, probably long before anyone realized it. Now, dark has risen only weeks after strange dreams began to plague Milana. Sickness, war, famine, and so much more flow across the earth’s surface, killing those Fae don’t deem worthy of living in the new regime. Milana and her mother fight to survive, while she learns more about herself than she ever thought possible. The Dark King of the Fae is cutthroat, rage, and power all-consuming. He’s on a mission to save the world and the realms that parallel it before extinction comes for humans and Fae. But something is haunting him, gripping his resolve like a vice and ingesting him bit by bit. In the dimmest of times, two souls will intertwine, piecing a puzzle together that’s been broken for centuries. Angsty romance meets seething rage as Anwynn and Milana try to find themselves while saving their people in a world pitted against them.

Super inconsistent characters and pacing, weirdly rushed in places and slow in others. Some promise for future books but I’ll likely stop reading here!

I’m very torn on this book. I liked the premise and in general I liked the concept on the characters but overall the book felt so inconsistent to me.

I received an advance review copy for free, I’m reviewing of my own free will etcetcetc.

The rest of this review will contain mild spoilers.

The FMC and I guess two MMCs felt like they had such inconsistent personalities. The FMC goes from being mild to being ballsy but then loses that fire. One MMC is flirty then angry then flirty again. Some of the emotions felt very contrived and didn’t really seem to advance the plot so I’m not really sure what the plan was there.

It bothered me that the FMC’s epilepsy was only discussed when it was a relevant plot point. In the beginning she kept saying how important her meds were but we don’t even hear mention of her taking her meds or being worried about taking them consistently until maybe 50%? Girl literally gets kidnapped for >1 day and doesn’t even think about the fact that she hasn’t taken her meds.

This one is really minor but the drinking age in Scotland is 18 but the FMC says her mom sometimes lets her drink at home even though she’s only 19. Another minor one is the physical actions in a few scenes. He’s sitting down but towering over her?

The pacing was really weird. So much happened in the first 30% then I felt like nothing happened until 80%.

I really wanted to like this book and honestly the writing is good other than the inconsistencies but I feel like that’s more of an editing standpoint. I think this book could be a huge hit with the dark romance readers but I honestly just got so frustrated trying to reconcile the inconsistencies that I had a hard time focusing. That being said I would probably read a sequel just because of the way the book ended. Like EXCUSE ME??

I picked this book up during the last “stuff your kindle day”, that special focused on fantasy romance books. While the world becomes increasingly unstable, introverted Milana is just trying to make it through her days working at her best friend’s coffee shop Lowdown, without an episode. She begins to question her already challenging health as unsettling dreams plague her nights. Her anxieties compound when her mother is acting strangely and the news begins reporting apocalyptic events.

✨Mild Spoilers✨ I loved that the author picked Scotland, to me it was a great choice for a story that incorporated the Fae. I liked that Milana had fire and backbone, it started her character off strong when you might assume her timid or weak. However she does like to fill up that “inner lockbox” a little too much. The mysterious murders towards the end were a good way to pique readers interest in the second book. I also appreciated the colorful map of the Court of Sun, it was a helpful reference.

I didn’t care for the editing in the book, even a peer reader would have improved it. The concept felt unsure as well, it went from an apocalypse world build to a Fae court intrigue world build that completely left the decimated human race and a crippled earth behind. On the subject of concept, I don’t know about the biblical four horseman being used to facilitate a magical Fae apocalypse, it felt kind of like a square peg-round hole situation. Also during the plague of “war” there is cannon fire….Cannons!? 🧐

Anwynn was a confusing character to me. Considering he’s been alive for hundreds of years and a king for two centuries, I feel like he should be more settled. His thoughts and feelings vacillate between a stiff seasoned ruler and that of a new adult and king. I understand the Fae are long lived, so when they think or speak of events and their timing it can be eccentric. However while reading his chapters the timing of past events were oddly phrased to sound like they happened recently, only for them to have occurred hundreds of years earlier.

I severely dislike “other women” and “love triangle” scenes when the main characters have meet and acknowledged (even unconsciously) that there is major pull towards each other. Neither are in an established relationship and if this is a why choose scenario it was neither mentioned or teased. For this reason I’m considering not finishing this series.

Wanted to like this one, slogged through it way too long. Needs more proofreading; there are typos, multiple instances of weary/wary mixups, and the author thinks that “lowly” can be used in place of “in a low voice” and it makes her sentences so awkward every time she uses it that way.

I have big, big issues with the central premise of this book, and I kept waiting for someone to call the MMC out on it, but it never happened. The MMC is a dark fae king who comes to the human world to inflict pestilence, war, famine and death on humanity as a way to reverse the damage humanity has done to planet earth. Fae magic is being used for this culling, in order to sort out the “impure” humans (eugenics vibes, ew). Only the deaths of 99% of all human life will satisfy this fae king’s bloodthirsty magic. Narratively, this is treated as a necessary evil that even the FMC (a human), even in her grief for her loved ones, secretly understands must be done, as humanity alone is simply incapable of taking the necessary action.

The book starts with FMC living in dystopian conditions, with brownouts, rationing, no cars, planes or buses, and disposable paper products treated as contraband. Even with these drastic measures, and even with MMC having met with world leaders to demand change, it’s apparently not enough to stave off climate change and pollution. This is apparently having ill effects on the fae realm which is intertwined with the earth. The story paints a bleak picture of a hopeless earth which can only be repaired through the deaths of billions, and between the pointed parallels (like the banned coffee cups) and the lack of real narrative opposition to this insane train of thought, I can’t help but think that the author pretty much thinks that’s where our real-life planet is headed, and agrees that the Final Solution is the only way out.

I don’t know if I really need to deconstruct amoral accelerationism/involuntary human extinction in a book review, suffice to say this topic should’ve been handled with a lot more nuance than it was. I’m not convinced this author is capable of it.

If that was the only problem with this book, I’d probably have been able to finish it, but combine that with the fact that the MMC and FMC have no real chemistry, even the hateful kind, and they spend almost no time together in the front half of the book, and you have a really dull read. I got to a point where FMC is brought to a new location in fae-land and given a dress to wear, and it’s got a (gasp) corset (actually it sounds like a dress with built in boning but I don’t expect everyone to know everything about fashion) and she hates it. I don’t know why, but the not-like-other-girls-ness of her whining about a fancy dress while the whole world burns around her just made me feel so angry and reminded me how shallow the whole book had been up to that point.

The first book in The Promethean Fae series definitely has a lot to offer for fantasy romance fans.

Top tier world building and character development, I felt, throughout. Vivid descriptions help you visualize this post-apocalyptic dystopian world, inside which you’ll feel no shortage of emotion— good, bad, ugly, and everything in between.

The ending will definitely leave you wanting more— if only for answers to the slew of questions you’ll no doubt be left with.

Eagerly awaiting book two of this new series.

Im. addicted.

Who would’ve though that this start of the series would get me this invested in a book. Because surely I didn’t.

We begin our story with King Wixx and Milana on two different planes of the realm but when they find each other… boy the spark can be seen for planets away.

But what happens when they become fiercest of enemies? Only time and acceptance of change can help these two go forward.

This book has so much hate and towards each character it makes my cold heart go warm thinking about it. Everything is so beautifully written and will have you falling into the court of the moon right along with Axis and Milana.

But nothing is as it seems and always remember above all else your gut it always right.

The energy between Milana and Anwynn is mesmerizing!! I can not wait for the second book to come out. This is definitely a MUST READDD

3.5 ⭐️ Strong start with immediate immersion. A dystopian future. A dark fae king willing to make heavy sacrifices in order to save his kingdom and their future. A human female who can seemingly walk the dreams of said dark king. Dual POV. This fully captured my attention.

After a quarter of the way through things slow down with world building and character development. I felt decently connected with the FMC, Milana, and her confusion to exposer to new lands and species. The MMC, Anwynn, had a lot of conflicting moods. His feelings towards Milana are shaky based on circumstances. As such, I found it hard to find chemistry between them until closer to the end.

Overall, this book was a good setup for what is to come. The ending definitely had me wanting to know what happens next and I have started book 2, which has started out really good.

A Thoughtful Review of Court of Sun

Edited to add: I was an ARC reader for this and was not paid to post a review. This is my personal honest opinion which readers are welcome to disagree with.

In Court of Sun, the author presents a collection of superb and unique concepts that have the potential to captivate readers and expand into an entire series. However, the pacing of the book leaves much to be desired. The ideas, although intriguing, are breezed over too quickly, hindering the reader's ability to fully grasp the enormity of the narrative. Taking the time to delve into these concepts in a more plot-driven manner would undoubtedly elevate the book to an incredible level.

One area that requires attention is the characterization. While the book aims to be character-driven, the lack of clear definition for each character becomes a hindrance. The author swiftly transitions between contrasting traits, leaving readers disconnected from the individuals' true nature. A more definitive exploration of each character's traits would greatly enhance the effectiveness of the character-driven aspect. Additionally, the introduction of new features, traits, and powers later in the story can be disorienting, further impeding the reader's ability to understand and anticipate character reactions. It is essential for readers to have a solid grasp of each character's identity and their potential responses to events.

Furthermore, emotions within the narrative often feel shallow and fleeting, lacking the necessary depth to establish a meaningful connection with the characters. This volatility and the absence of individual differences between characters diminish the overall impact of their emotional journeys. To truly engage readers, the author should consider delving deeper into the emotional aspects of the characters, allowing for a more authentic and relatable experience.

We love a disabled MC! The inclusion! However, if the intention is to portray the protagonist as epileptic, the impact of this condition should be more prominently addressed throughout the story. By highlighting the challenges and concerns associated with epilepsy, the author can better represent the character's experiences and foster a greater sense of empathy from readers.

While the book contains stunning one-liners that are worth highlighting, there are instances where the prose suffers from fragmented, incomplete, and run-on sentences. A thorough editing pass would have significantly benefited the overall readability of the book. Additionally, further exploration of events, characters, and the intriguing plot ideas would have created a stronger sense of gravity within the narrative.

The adage "show, don't tell" is an area that could use improvement in this particular book. The author tends to provide information directly rather than allowing readers to infer details through action or vivid description. By employing more subtle techniques, such as showing through character actions or using descriptive language, the author can immerse readers in the story and foster a deeper connection with the narrative.

Lastly, it is important to address a sensitivity miss in the book. The generalization that homeschooling universally leads to social ineptitude perpetuates an unhelpful and harmful stereotype. Homeschooled individuals are as varied and diverse as their public-schooled counterparts. Such comments can unintentionally ostracize potential readers who identify with the homeschooling experience. It is crucial to avoid broad generalizations and instead present a more nuanced perspective to foster inclusivity and understanding.

In conclusion, Court of Sun showcases superb and unique concepts that I personally found entrancing and exciting. However, given more attention in terms of plot development and pacing, could have transformed into an exceptional series. With these considerations in mind, Court of Sun holds the much potential to resonate with a broader audience and become a remarkable literary achievement once more editing has been dedicated to it.

Small Business BookTok ARC Review – Court of Sun by K.M. Mixon

Disclaimer: This ARC was given to me for free by the author, and I am reviewing this book voluntarily and with full ability to give an honest review.

Spice Meter: 2/5  -  A splash of spice.

Rating 3.5/5 -   Where dark fantasy romance meets climate change fears - How do you save those who won’t save themselves and find yourself in the process? (Goodreads would not let me give the 3.5, so I gave a 4 star here as I felt that was closer to my feelings than a 3 star)

Release Date: June 2023

This story follows Milana, a human girl living in Scotland during a time when the earth is dying, and no one is doing anything about it. After a series of traumatic events, Miliana finds herself thrust into a new land, where she tries to understand what is happening to her while coming to terms with what has changed. Powers unfold as two dashing, but different males use their own abilities to.. help her? Harm her? Milana must learn about who she is, where she comes from, who to trust, and what forces are at work before it is too late for her.

I have mixed emotions about this book that take me to both ends of the spectrum. First, I loved the premise of the story. While having many of the same characteristics of a dark fantasy romance, it brought in some unique elements to it that were refreshing to read. I also liked the pacing of the story; it kept moving, and the ending will definitely leave you wanting more.

One area that I wished the author did differently was that I felt that there was not a lot of character-building at the start of the story. I didn’t connect with the characters, as I wish I had.  While the pace worked for the storytelling, it harmed the natural bonding that can occur between readers and the characters.  I felt like I was just reading a story instead of being immersed in their world. The main female character went through a lot of traumatic events in a short period of time, but there was a lack of emotion for what she went through. Yes, she was strong (and I LOVE a strong female protagonist!)  but we never got to experience her lows to appreciate the strength. I feel that the author rushed the character growth to get to the big reveal, which didn’t allow me time to live in her world and get to know her weaknesses that she needed to overcome. She didn’t earn the strength she showed, and there was no backstory shared to show how she had that strength available to her.

I am excited to continue to read this series, and the ending left me wanting to know what happens! I hope that as the story continues, the author will give us time to fall in love with the characters and spend time really developing who they are. I yearn to cry, celebrate, and live through their eyes.

I would recommend this book as it is an easy and quick read, with much of the dark fantasy romance themes we, as readers, love... without a lot of emotional investment. A perfect ‘rebound’ book when your soul needs a break.

Thank you to the author for allowing me the privilege of reading and reviewing your book!

I devoured this one and even as a non fantasy reader, I loved it! You won’t want to miss adding this one to your TBR if you love apocalyptic vibes with intriguing Fae, and a strong background of Scottish Lore 😏

When she says it’s a slow burn… take that to heart. But I promise the spice is coming in the next books. The characters are well developed and the emotion behind their interactions and story lines 🥹😭

This story had a lot of potential. However, I feel that the story line switched around a lot and was not very consistent. I liked the idea of the post apocalyptic mashed with fae/fantasy, but this story line just dropped halfway through the book and an entirely new one began. Almost feels like 2 totally separate ideas for a book. So many plots and subplots being set up it's hard to keep straight. Too many details about unimportant things and not enough to actually help me understand what the heck is going on.
The main character development was also very inconsistent. They were constantly changing their minds about what they were doing or feeling about something and it kinda gave me whiplash.
Like the main character hates her but he feels for her after meeting her 1 time, yet he doesn't feel that there might be a connection between them?? Make it make sense! There is no relationship building between litterally any of the characters.
There are so many details that should be included to make this good.
- explaining more about how her mom came to be her mom when she still thought they were human (not explained at all just brushed over one time)
-when she meets her "parents" they don't try to welcome her like parents who lost their child would, they just sit there. Litterally no emotion
-no explanation about how the "princess" was ever lost to begin with. Again no world building here. Like just make it believeable
- again the post-apocalyptic storyline ends in this book yet no explanation about how she got sent to her mom
-no explanation about why the king could suddenly see her in his dreams
- how did the king from the other court not know that the kings freaking brother was a spy on him? Like he grew up as a royal his entire life, not exactly a low profile to have as a spy

The story was just enough for me to start the second book, but it is much worse and I will be dropping that one.

I feel that this book could be recommended for readers of the ACOTAR series. It has the magical aspects and the very well described fantasy lands, to make you feel out of this world while you read.

Slowly, the human population has been dying out. Unknown to why they have been dying and having to be in lockdown, Milana starts to have vivid dreams that feel very real. As Milana and her mother work together to survive this “sickness,” she starts to learn more about who she is. The Dark King of Fae wants to save the people, unlike someone from his past. During a dream, something or someone takes “control” of him from the inside. It is slowly killing him and he needs it to be removed before he does pass. Milana and Anwynn work on finding out more about themselves, as new information arises. What ends would you go to in order to protect the ones you love and the people around you?

Content/Trigger Warnings
*Open Door Spice
*Apocalyptic Theme
*Some Blood Scenes
*Loosely Portrayed Epilepsy
*Adoption
*Child Loss

I really enjoyed this book! It reminded me a lot of the ACOTAR series, mixed with a bit of what we went though with COVID, but in this book it is completely magic related! Court of Sun was written wonderfully, and I am ready for book two so that I may continue this series! It started out slow for me, but I kept on reading. It was so well worth it! In the authors note, it states that the series will “broaden into why-choose further into the series,” and that the “world only deepens” as the series progresses. This makes me even more excited! The world is already astonishing, and to build on it more will make it so much more immersive!

I was so excited to see a book based in my home country with Scots Gaelic sprinkled throughout.

Scotland is a country steeped in magical tradition and this book brought this out and represented Edinburgh very well.

The human race has damaged the planet and it is affecting the other species that share a portal with our world. The world is currently in lockdown due to a virus that is wiping out the human race. Milana a young coffee shop worker, who suffers from epilepsy, starts topo have extremely vivid dreams that seem to be very real.

Milana and her mum try to survive the pandemic, and throughout this part of the story, Milana finds out that all is not as it seems.
King Anwymm is the Dark King of the Fae and he wants to save his people, as they are being affected by the problems caused by the humans. He has been affected by something from the dream world and it is causing him issues.

Milana discovers more about her birth identity and Arw3ynn and her find themselves both attracted and conflicted about each other. How far will they have to go to protect those closest to them?

KM Mixon writes another book that makes her one of my favourite autonomy authors and as usual, I read the books twice to really get a feel for them completely. This was well-paced and built up to an amazing cliffhanger ending.

Miilana is attracted to both Arwynn and his brother and hopefully, this will transpire into a Why choose storyline The world-building was amazing and I look forward to the world expanding and deepening. The different creatures and characters were so well rounded and they have a place in my favourite top ten romantasy books.

Can't wait for this series to continue.

This book reads like a first draft that was released too early. The worldbuilding is quite imaginative. The human world in apocalypse (clearly inspired by the recent Covid pandemic). The fae worlds in opposition (not so original there). However, while there are a lot of pages and words, there isn't much satisfaction. The characters are thin and the writing impersonal and stilted. The lead character, Milana, is supposed to be shy and retiring, yet she is rude to everyone, especially her mother - who is never even given a name - not even Mum! Some of the most important actions involving global death and destruction caused by the lead male character, Arwynn, are glossed over, yet we get endless descriptions of clothes, appearances and scenery. Billions die off page, and it's just "oh well, needs must" from Milana and Arwynn. Not the way we should think about genocide, which is a war crime in the real world.

Emotions are described, rather than being shown through the actions of the characters. I could not work up an emotional connection to either Milana or Arwynn, let alone hope they get together. All I could see was a folie a deux of catastrophic proportions if they did, as neither of them seem capable of controlling their emotions or actions, or even see the need to do so.

And can we stop reading "smirk" as the only facial expression of any character? EL James the author of Fifty Shades used "smirk" on practically every page and now too many other writers do to. What about "smile", "grin", "sneer", "frown", "grimace"....but no, all the characters smirk at each other whatever the context. What a smug bunch!

This book deserves more than 5 stars!!! I am absolutely astounded with the writing, the characters, and the world building in this series. This is top-notch writing along with the major published authors. This book needs and deserves more attention!!!
Think of an apocalyptic world that’s literally dying because humans are killing the world/environment. Now Fae who live in a realm adjacent (and relies on the human world to exist) comes in and wipes out almost all humanity (4 horseman from the Bible kinda wipeout). A human girl who lives in this apocalyptic world somehow dream walks to the Dark Fae King’s world and then gets interrogated later by the King about who she is but she has no idea because she was adopted. But who is she? And why are people coming after her now? The Light Fae want to use her, The Dark Fae want to kill her, and who knows about the prison world?
HUGE CLIFFHANGER
BUT ALSO.. Is she gonna be with the king or his brother????
This is an honest review from someone who LOVES a good world building, suspenseful fantasy. I read this book because I got the second book as an ARC read and wow I’m so glad I did! Immediately going to book 2 for answers!!

This book is a dumpster fire. But I love it?? I just finished the book and feel like laughing because it was like getting whiplash looking back to the beginning of the book and what I thought I was reading about. There are like 3 plots going on at the same time. And the whole plot at the beginning? End of human days? Feels unfinished and like a placeholder. I feel like it was a prequel for the series but in book 1. And when I was reading it I was so annoyed like I felt the author wrote it during covid or something like that. I kinda skimmed most of the dialogues where the main character is crying because they are in lockdown (for like 8 days mind you) because it was just giving bleh. Then we did a full 180 and she is a princess? and then she is not? And then Axel enters the chat and I’m like good a new character and it turns out he is the Dark kings brother? Boo! Not a fan of the plot point it is taking in the romance section, gives me the ick. But this book is WILD. Like soooo many tropes thrown into one book. And The second plot is like the kingdoms fighting. And the third plot is the vampire thing that entered the chat with a couple of murders and hunts her blood for another king? Anyways… whiplash. But cheers to the author for thinking up a crazy story. Also there is enough overlap from each plot point for it to make sense but still, caught me by surprise

**I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

I first read this when the author had newly released the og versions. I was skeptical when she said she was going to rewrite and take the originals down since I loved them so much. I will say I'm so happy that she did! There's still aspects from the og that have been put in as well as some new things, so if you read the og definitely give this version a go to. I have not been a fantasy reader for years and this series was the perfect one to step back in with. I have not read ACOTAR yet but from what I'm hearing from others if you've read that series you'll love this one too! The FMC goes through quite a bit to figure out how to navigate this new life she has found her self in. There's not a ton of spice in this book, but there's a lot of story building especially in the first part of the book that is going to be important as this series goes on. I don't want to say to much and give away the majority of the plot, but I will say that I absolutely loved the FMC and was able to connect with her in many different areas of the story line. The MMC can be hard to connect with and it makes it hard to feel the chemistry at some points but I promise if you stick it out with him it's so worth it!

Okay so I would give this 2.5 stars. But I can’t. But like. Was it good?eh. Would I recommend it ? Maybe. Yes. Sure.

So there is a LOT of fucking tropes and shit she just breezes through. Human finds fae are real, is a changeling. Dream walking, enemies to lovers, cosmically drawn to each other, long lost princess(maybe? Still don’t know for sure), murder mystery, real parents are evil? Idk now we are a at a “I need sex to make the change and I can pick either brother” and she ENDS THE FUCKING THING. LIKE THANK GOD ITS OUT AND ON KU otherwise this review may of been different. Maybe. Idk. It’s kind of cringey. But like it moved fast so I kept reading. I also did skim a lot of the world building because it moves so fast it really don’t matter.

Also this isn’t “dark romance” there is a cringey scene where like someone doesn’t know how to handle emotions so they self harm like twice. But like it was kind of dull and did not add to the character development. So like maybe I’ve just read too much shit but it wasn’t bad. Anyway. Check your triggers at the door as always

Also note for the author: PLEASE stop over using “hmm?” It makes me want to throw things. Once in a while fine. Not every single god damn dialogue.

I really wanted to love this book because the premise was really interesting! In the end, I think it fell a little short of my expectations, but I'm still interested to read the rest of the series. I want to know what happens with the romance!

My biggest issue was the pacing. I feel like some of the book ended up being repetitive, with the same back and forth between not only the characters but also a lot of see-sawing in the FMC's personality. That said, I can always appreciate a sassy FMC so that's a positive point.

I also think that, for a why-choose, there was a lot of focus on just one of the love interests, to the point where I wondered if there was going to be another one at all.

Overall, I want to give the series a fair chance, so I will probably be reading the second book!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is a new revised version of a previously published book, Gold in Darkness. It is better than the original book. You have probably discovered author, K.M. from her dark romance books. This book is different from the other books she writes. I do like this fantasy vibe and Anwynn brings the spice.

The romantic entanglement that transpired between Milana and Anwynn is a slow burn one. I do like this as it made the relationship between them more believable. So that when they did share those "scenes", they were that much better.

The world that K.M built for this story was great. I was so engaged in this story that I found myself reading chapters at a time. I can't wait to read book two.

2.5/5

It started off great I love how the FMC had a backbone and didn't bow to anyone, but then I got halfway and she lost that attitude, then the MMC suddenly started fucking anyone in his vicinity because he couldn't stop thinking of her.

I loved the introduction of Axis, he was great but it's a shame the FMC and Axis didn't get the relationship I was hoping for. I hope she chooses him for when she becomes a Fae honestly, I already hate how the 20 year-old female hero has never had an interaction with a man so her choosing King Wixx would be a devastating move.

The plot started off great, I loved how easy it was to understand the realm, I can't wait to get to know more about the FMCs powers and lineage. I think it's a decent book but some of the subplots were not for me.

I picked up this book as a freebie on “Stuff Your Kindle” day, and I’ll be honest. The last couple that I’ve picked up in this manner have left me with low expectations going forward.

Court of Sun wasn’t half bad! Sure there were some editing mistakes that pulled me out and puzzled me sometimes, there were some pacing issues and there’s a whole plot line that seems to have been abandoned in favour of of Fae court intrigue- but maybe that’ll be covered in book 2?

Overall, it was a quick, easy read with a little bit of romance (enemies to lovers- but we’re not quite there yet) and a little bit of spice. Enough to make me hope I’ve broken out of my reading slump. I would definitely consider reading book 2!
