HOLY HELL THAT WAS INTENSE! After the jaw dropping conclusion of the last book I didn't know how this book was going to top that but it did. Again I was on the edge of my seat, gripping on to my kindle like my life depended on it and letting myself sink into Prue's world once more. And waiting for the inevitable twists that would hit me like a sledgehammer, trust me I was not disappointed.
The treaty is broken and magic is running riot in the open, the city has fallen into chaos. Prue knows that even though she is no longer the enforcer, people will still need someone to help and protect them. But with her secret in the open, will she be the hero they need, or the monster they fear.
Prue is up to her neck in problems but that's nothing new for her. And this is one of the things I love about her even though she has been stripped of her enforcer job she will still put her life and sanity on the line to help people, at the cost of getting burned by the very people she's trying to help. Her honor, kick ass attitude and bravery make her relatable and likeable. She continues to grow in this book and the breakthrough moment for me was when she finally discovers that in order to be who she is, is not to be scared of her power and to trust her instincts not the perceptions of others. I've said it before and I'll say it again, one of my favourite female characters to date.
Max is also having his own problems within the Shifter community but is still a solid foundation for Prue, and doesn't think twice about following her in faerie on a mission to save her hateful sister Isobel. Yeah he's just perfect. And what better way to sum up Max than with a quote from Prue.
"You're my rock. You're the grass I need to touch when someone tells me to go and touch grass.' Swoon...
Salozar is back and damn him, he's grown on me so much I'm starting to love him too (how did this happen). Putting his life in danger to help Prue he's wormed his way into my heart and now I literally care what happens to him as well. Yeah I'm a big softie for grand gestures.
And lastly my little glowering gothflower Cindy finally finds her purpose and it's awesome to see. I love this tiny foul-mouthed pixie can't wait to see what she gets up to in the last book.
This one definitely tugged on my heartstrings and yep there were a few tears but so worth it. I know there's only one more book to go and I desperately need to see how it all ends. This is a highly enjoyable series which I can't recommend enough 😁

Prue is no longer an enforcer but is still trying to do her job. When the treaty failed there was nothing to stop magic users from appearing before humans. While a new treat is being crafted, Prue is out fixing things. Unfortunately, that gets her on the FBI’s most wanted list as a terrorist. And that’s not the worse thing happening – Isobel has gone to the Beast claiming to be his daughter and has been captured.
As part of an ill-advised attempt to rescue her horrible sister Prue enters the Fae realm.
There is a lot happening here, Max is along to help as well as a Fae sent to her by Solizar. This is quite an interesting adventure. There are the usual great characters and their interactions, humour, surprises, and magic as Prue learns more of what she can do.
This is another great addition to the series and with one more book I’m sure everything will wrap up successfully but I can’t wait to read the next one.

I'm gonna level with you. I'm six books behind in writing reviews. As a general rule, I write a book's review right after or very soon after I've finished it. That has not been the case for this series. I finish a book and immediately start the next one. And when I was done with Prue's series, I jumped straight into Chloe's.
I love everything about this world and these characters. Prue is by far the most imaginative supe I've ever read, and I love the relationship she has with Max and with everyone else - well, except for Isobel, but that's understandable.
Okay - enough of this review. I have five more to do to get caught up!

Not my favorite
I understand why this story had to occur as the final arc of the hero’s journey. I felt there were several areas that could have been expanded on more to help the story flow more cohesively. There were many times where it felt like even the author was uncomfortable writing this story… I just hope the finale proves to be a big improvement. I’ve really enjoyed the interesting take on the magical world as well as the main characters!

I have found a new favorite author! Lauretta Hignett. The stories she weaves are a delight to read and 100% addictive. She has taken the typical supernatural characters and written them in a fresh and unique manner that will surely make it difficult to put the book down. The characters are unique, hilarious, and powerful. They are loyal and dedicated to their peeps. The main character in this series is unlike any other character I have experienced. Her creation story is unusual and continuously evolves as the character grows. I really like that the love interest story is not drawn out. It’s not off and on, or they are torn apart and you have to read 16 books for them to finally get together. Instead, they enhance the main character, jump in to help when needed, and allow her to be her independent self. None of the words I write in this review accurately portray the amazingness of these books. You will just have to read them yourself!! There are several series, and the thing I most enjoy is they are about characters that are the main characters circle of friends. It adds more dimensions to the various characters, and you can see them in a whole new manner.

Things are about to come to a head. Love Max, loyal, loving and a complete badarse. I love how he and Prue help and encourage each other. Salozar sacrificed so much. I hope he is OK. Cindy has gone through the ringer. Marche has been so instrumental. She is a great leader. Dennis cracks me up. The world can be burning around him and he is calm.
Prue has basically gone rogue trying to squash rebellions. She is no longer enforcer. The otherworld police keep asking for her assistance, but then don't back her or vouch for here. So she was out on the FBI 's most wanted as she is seen at several attacks. They think she is the bad guy. And if life wasn't challenging enough, she decides to try to save her worthless sister. Faerie takes it's toll on birth her and Max. So many people get to be the hero. Cindy, Max, Salozar, Prue, Marche.
Looking forward to next in series. Series needs to be read in order. Told from h POV.

She has to take an emergency trip to Faerie, and nothing about that is easy. I can't say anymore because there be spoilers ahead. I can say this series is an amazing read full of twists, turns, violence, action, and laughter.

Another amazing book! This book picks up after the treaty was broken and rogue magic users want to start showing off magic in public (and take over the world). Even though she is not the enforcer, Prue is still stepping up to help, putting herself in danger in the process. With the FBI on her tail and her sister imprisoned in Faerie, she decides to go try to save her. Can she get to the dungeons to save an unworthy sister? This is such an amazing series. Prue is so hilarious, I just love her. She doesn't take crap from anyone, esp Goodrim. But at the same time, she is vulnerable and starting to break down. She is fighting her inner Beast and trying to win. And the trip to faerie.. wow. Wonderful world building and character development. I will read anything Lauretta writes!

Our heroine's life is shrouded in secrets, or at least it was. Now that the truth is out (or at least part of it), doing what needs to be done just became a lot harder.
This is book five of the series. It does okay as a standalone, but it will be a better experience if read from the beginning.
This is an urban fantasy story with all kinds of critters in it. The story is well written and easy to read. Perhaps too easy to read as it draws you in at the beginning and doesn't let go. The characters are well done, the setting is fascinating and the plot moves along at such a clip that it is hard to put the book down. Overall, this was a very fun story and I look for to the next book.
Highly recommended.

When the FMC first announced that she was going to go to ferry to rescue her sister, I was shocked. Her sister was so mean to her as a child and as an adult. I was wondering why she even bothered going to rescue her. I guess she figured since she was family she had an obligation to do it. Her fae friend told the FMC that she would have a guide through ferry to the beast’s castle to rescue her sister. She ended up taking her boyfriend with her. I found it an interesting trip that they went through to get to his castle and also the fact that she got to meet her daddy while she was there. I love the end of this book. I really do like Cindy I just hope she’s able to lay off the sauce. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

Determined to save Isobel and Salozar, Prue and Max head into the Fae wilds to face the biggest threat to all realms.

Prue is no longer the enforcer, yet the agreement is no longer in place. Someone still needs to protect people from the idiotic magic users who think they should rule humans.
Prue has all this power, and she is scared she will be as bad as the boogeyman the Beast is. Good thing she's got a handle on everything, right?
I cant wait to find out what happens next. Its only a few weeks away, but I doubt I'll be able to not grump about it.
The whole series is worth the read. This author is amazing and has a knack for weaving a world and characters that are real. Flaws and all.

Our favorite skeleton has placed herself in her most challenging situation yet - and she's been in a few!! Once again, she finds herself in a crisis that seems insurmountable and, against all possible odds, lives to stagger on to the next one. After a monumental act of self sacrifice, she gets help from a friend and survives. (Thank goodness.)
In this wonderful, suspenseful and very well written installment of Prue's saga, I became even more fond of her - her love, courage, spirit and outrageous behavior will be remembered as a stand out in the world of strong and complex FMCs.

Better every book. This is a must read series.
Prue is under the gun and wanted by the human police. Shifters, vamps and witches are fighting to master the humans and let their magic flags fly. Prues sister is still being held by the Beast of Bakkonon and she wants to go get her. So starts a whiz bang adventure in Faerie and the earth realm and new enemies are made and sacrifices occur. In the end the Beast is left in Faerie but can forces of evil summon him to aid in the destruction of humanity? Damn what a book!

This is an entertaining urban fantasy adventure series. A great cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. Prue was the enforcer of Washington DC until during the world conclave her status was burned and she was removed. The treaty has fallen magic is exposed and all hell is breaking loose. Pru is still trying to fight and stop evil from exposing magic even more Yet the human government is getting in her way and trying to arrest her thinking that she is the problem. And who knows where it’s going to be at red Dawn and see and follow the adventure.

This fifth book in this wonderfully written story with characters that I love, is great! Prue has so many things to contend with while she does learn more about who she truly is. This story grabbed and would not let go. I recommend reading books 1-4 first, for a better experience. I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!.

woah!
That ending! That… everything! I learned so much in this book about multiple characters. I’m also really glad there was a loophole for that promise. My heart still hurts for it and I am absolutely salivating to see how the next book finishes everything off. Though I don’t want the series to end, I know it’s coming! And I am counting down the hours and seconds until I can get my hands on it!

Let the conclave begin, All the magical races must come together to determine the fate of the gates that join the fae realm with the human world. The problem is that none of the representatives can be counted on to be predictable or without bias. All are self serving and not thinking about the good of their people or their race. It is politics as usual. In the meantime, Mom is in a coma and shadow monsters continue to try to murder her.

Felt like filler. Had the usual couple of moments of insightful social commentary, but mostly I just wanted it done; the premise wasn’t engaging - the sister who was too evil to be real was languishing in a prison too dangerous to be understood, so she needed to do the impossible to go and save her - but it wasn’t even slightly impossible and the whole purpose was to achieve some vaguest sense of self? A disappointment of an instalment in a brilliant world, otherwise…

This book was sooo good. This was supposed to be the final book in Bones’s series but there will be one more, and with good reason. Lauretta knows how to weave a tale that I get lost in. I can actually picture faerie as it is being described. This book was really enticing and sets the story up for a kickass ending. I cannot recommend ALL of Lauretta’s books and series enough!

Prue needs to face some hard truths whether she wants to or not.
This one is definitely an emotional book but still has it's funny moments. Reading the whole book in one sitting always happens with Lauretta's books, so I was not surprised when I got no sleep with this book too.
Fantastically written, with laughs, cries and screams at times.

This book is a lot more serious than the previous ones in the series. You can see Bron’s attempts at indoctrination and its very gradual process. It’s a travel adventure book at heart, so the plot doesn’t exactly advance by leaps and bounds but I enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see how the series concludes!

Another fantastic book to this incredible and unique series. Oh the action, humour and even with the twists, most giving it away but was done in a way that still sneaky and potentially catch you out of you didn’t take the hints. Prue is back with her witty humour and bad ass attitude. I absolutely love her.

This wasn’t my favourite of the series. I got a bit disinterested when they had to go to fairy and from there struggled to push through. I’m glad I did because it amped up again and I love how when you expect it to be tense and dramatic, Prue does what Prue does and it just breaks it so well. I love how this author does this. She doesn’t let you mellow in the drama too long.

Yup, I’m done with the series. The author is dragging everything out so much that the story is getting to be tediously tiring to read.
This book had a lot of stupid choices. Don’t bring something because it won’t work but then it works but you didn’t bring it so it’s a real hassle to get it. Prue can do lots of things whenever she wants but can’t do anything when she needs to.

This series and the storytelling are really quite entertaining. I still am frustrated with some of the delivery. I think the only way I was going to believe Prue actually goes to rescue Isobel was for Ginger to ask Prue to do this for her. Although even that was a little thin. I know she loves Ginger and she’s always doing stuff for others, so there we go.

This world remains very interesting. Pru and Max visits the other world and encounter her father. I felt the growth in Pru and in her relationships. I found the police and FBI reaction and Pru’s response a little juvenile and jarring with the rest of the narrative.

Love a great cliff hanger
This series is great just like the others. The way these stories are told keep you hanging on and I love the emotional rollercoaster it brings you on. It brings laughter and tears. Can't wait for the finale!
This series is great just like the others. The way these stories are told keep you hanging on and I love the emotional rollercoaster it brings you on. It brings laughter and tears. Can't wait for the finale!

So far, this series is amazing and I'm not looking forward to the next book... It's the last one. I'm sad
