Decent story but the author needs to get an editor.
The plot in this series is interesting but after giving the author 3 books to improve, I'm giving up on it. I don't mind some grammar/style issues every once in a while, but book 3 is at the point where it feels like the majority of pages have at least one glaring mistake. I've ready plenty of translated books and books written by amateurs but this is the first time the volume of errors has been so high it ruined a solid story for me.
Hopefully, the author can find a good editor soon. I'd really like to read a polished version of this series.
The story line is fine and moves at a fast pace, and, like the others in the series so far, the book is quite short. Like the others, the formatting of the book on Kindle Unlimited is strange, with very wide line spacing. I had to change the formatting on my Kindle to compress the spacing as much as possible, and even then it's quite far apart. I found it unreadable without this change.
I think that the author was in a rush to publish this one, or someone got lazy in the editing. There are so many spelling, grammar and other errors that it gets ridiculous at times. At one point there were three typos or grammar errors in two sentences. There were a number of times where sentences literally didn't make sense. Sometimes it's because the author had clearly edited a sentence incompletely (which easily happens when moving text around, for example), but other times it felt like the author was using expressions from another language. The author also likes to repeat themselves, sometimes with two sentences following on from each other that give the same information.
I feel that there are also some issues in terms of realism. The protagonist becomes more powerful at a ridiculous rate. This is quite fun, but doesn't seem plausible. There are also some issues with scale. For example, in an earlier book something is described as 10m tall. That's about three storeys tall. Later this something is put into a parking garage, which doesn't make sense.
This is all quite a pity, as the story itself had some promise, and the editing was much better in the earlier books. It's hard to know whether I'll read any more in this series even though I like the story, as I kept looking at the writing and thinking 'this is pretty bad'.
Story is fine. The world is still not fleshed out, with barely any context to understand the post apocalypse world they are in… but I was able to get through that in other books and would’ve still said it was a decent read. Tho story has far mor grammatical errors to the point that it is hard to figure out who is being referred to, talking, narrating, etc, this changing mid paragraph and even mid sentence. Particularly bad I the last 33% of the book.
I can only hope that there was a mistake and the author uploaded a draft version of the book as the current book was clearly not read before being published.
There are missing words, missing spaces, misspelt words, text colour changes, mangled sentences, and strange punctuation all within the first 30 pages. I assume these issues continue as the book goes on, but I have currently paused my reading to leave this review, so i can not be sure.
Hopefully, these issues will be corrected, and then i can read further and update my review.
The main premise of the story is pretty good, but the writing is actually terrible. Especially during fighting scenes. It's like the author just has a vision in his head and types it out without ever going back to check and see if what was written was legible or even made sense. Shiva is a snake it doesn't have claws. Zander is a Zander is a Zander, who got zandered. What?
I really like this book series when it started, but now it’s just coming across as a cheap shadow, of that book series that everybody who likes this genre likes. It is hard to put into words why this series is not coming across so well. It could just be me in my mind constantly comparing it to that other book series. For everyone, if you’d like to the previous two books, go ahead and read this and judge for yourself.
I enjoyed the story of this book. I’ve been enjoying the series so far but with one caveat, the main character needs more character development. Revenge only goes so far. The MC does not seem to have much on his mind except for getting revenge on his former associates. The secondary characters need to be flush out a little more. The story and world building are interesting. Will read the next book.
I like the story, I like the characters. I could not finish the book with as many grammar and just general errors. “I” instead of “his” when talking about the [Summons]. Just one example of many many errors. I only made it 40% through before I had to put it down. I may revisit in the future in the hopes of an update of some sort.
I enjoy the premise of the story, I do, and it's why I read this book. The formatting and editing of this book is non-existent. The last 3 chapters were the worst, I could hardly understand what was going on, Zander this and Zander that. Please have a beta reader before releasing the next one.
Sloane is speeding through power advancement, and at the same time it seems his affection for the two people he's gotten to know since resurrecting. There are still grammar issues, but the story is still exciting. The points of view are off quite a bit. I'm still loving this series and the thirst for vengeance is definitely appealing.
I am enjoying this story. It is direct and honest with what it is doing. The plot is moving along at a steady pace. The grammatical errors are pretty distracting, but I can live with them. I was a little disappointed that the use of the key from the last book did not get enough time to really feel fleshed out. The ending was good.
So annoying mistakes and strange wording. In the first scene of book 1, he uses sword. He even said that for his first class, he didn't have a choice and get swordman. In this book, he is saying he can not use swords. Maybe autor forgot settings? After 2 short books? What will be next?
Sloan is getting stronger, Liam is getting stronger. Rifts still show up but Sloan has a gift from the Red Rift that he can use to build up his stats. Of course he has people looking at him from everywhere. He has more {summons} and is still working on building his stats. Just when things started to get easier, the past comes knocking, in the form of one of his past so called friends.
The editing continues to be bad in this series but not enough to ruin the fun. It's tough to write characters that are OP as world building has trouble being logical. But this is a fun story and although short like a novella, keeps the pace fast and entertaining.
Story and characters are still awesome, and the grievous need for proof reading is still apparent! The errors are making it increasingly difficult to enjoy the story.
Enjoyed the first two enough to get the third. It was a slog for me to get to the 25% mark. A couple of contradictions and many editing errors made it too difficult to read.
Up until now, the story was good but not really exciting. I have to say now that he's starting to engage the real enemies, it's getting more interesting and exciting. I'm looking forward to book four.
So he finally killed one of them. Hopefully, he will get even stronger and better prepared. Exciting volume. Enjoyed it immensely. Awaiting the release of volume 4! Recommend!
The writing was absolutely atrocious and jumped around swapping viewpoints with no real transitions. I'm not even sure a good editor could fix it, massive portions need to be re-written.
Sloan continues to gain power rapidly as he works to confront his original party. I like the action, intrigue, and slow development of a relationship. I look forward to the next book.
I have enjoyed the series very much, but the last fight was hard to follow because of the grammar errors. I know someone that would be happy to do it, if you need someone. (Not me, I don't have the patience for it.)
Great story and great series. Towards the end of the book though the typos got real bad where it brought me out of the world trying to figure out what was being said.
It would be a better book if I wasn’t having to reread a lot of places to make sure it was the right person talking or if the right person was being described. Liam can’t keep his hair color right one page he is golden hair and the next black.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm curious to see what happens next. This book is worth checking out.
Ok much of the same so still a good story. Love how even though Sloan grows more powerful it’s not a one hit kill to his enemies he really has to work for it. You really feel the stakes as you read. Enjoy the suspense immensely.
