Waking up from cryostasis alone in an unfamiliar place is bad enough, but the holes in my memory make things so much worse. I had a mission - protect the research team. Only, I can't remember who the research team were, what they were researching, or what lead to me being frozen in the first place. All I know is there are monsters here - green skinned, with fangs and claws. If I'm to stand a chance of surviving, rescuing the other frozen women and getting off of this planet, then I need to steer clear of them. The problem? One of them is following me into my dreams, and the more I learn, the more I remember, the more I'm starting to question who the real monsters are.
I am a warrior who failed in his duty to protect his sister, but in her wisdom, Lina still grants me a mate. My Brooks is the most magnificent female I have ever seen, but there is great distance between our heartspaces. More so than my brothers have experienced with their linashas. More troubling still, my Brooks knows what her old tribe Mercenia were doing in Lina's forests, but with her memories missing thanks to her long frozen sleep, she cannot share this knowledge with my tribe. I must do everything I can to help her find her way to her lost past. I only hope that in doing so, she might also find her way to me.

What I liked •SEASON TWO, WOOO! •I LOVE this world, it brings me so much comfort. •The Raskarran, they’re perfect. They only feel physical attraction to their mates. 🥰 •I dunno why but I find it so cute when the MMC likes to wrap their tail on the FMC ? Reminds me of MCs who like to always be holding hands, I love it 🥺 •Seeing some of the MCs from the other books. •The story continues!
Didn’t like •I didn’t like being in Brooks’s head. She was a soldier so she had a very tactile way of thinking at first. The counting started to feel repetitive but it could have bothered me more since I already didn’t like being in her POV. •The whole breeding plot. •This felt a lot more plot driven then relationship focused and I understand since we’re coming into a new arc/season I think I just wasn’t that interested in the direction that it took so 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll definitely continue the series because like I mentioned before, this has turned into a comfort read much like the IPB series. •The Raskarrans consider all the human females to be their sisters..
“Because I have felt your spirit, linasha. You are my mate - this is a deep connection between us. So deep we join in dreams.” He brushes a hand over my cheek. “But you have fought it, as have many of my other sisters. It is something humans can do.”
Am I crazy? Or is saying “other sisters” implying the FMC is also considered his sister? 🤔 I don’t like it,I think it happened twice and it had me scratching my head.
My ratings always reflect my enjoyment of the story. ❀
I've enjoyed this series from the very beginning. As a matter of fact I wish I had a Raskarran of my very own 😘. This book starts a new Arc in the series one that produces more questions , that gives new information on the the human government that has plans that seem far more sinister than anyone first thought. Brooks was the first of the new females to wake she is from the military tier. She was born and breed to be faster, more muscular and highly trained . She's confident in her abilities , but has a low self esteem when it comes to her own appeal. She's strong, tough but has vulnerabilities that make her so relate able . Maldek is a warrior and from the first moment her took up guard duty over the new women he new the tall one with shorter hair was his fated mate. When he realizes she's awake and sees her for the first time he can't believe he was blessed with such a strong capable female warrior as his very own. He doesn't feel like he deserves her after failing his friend Sam in the last book. The Dream space plays a key role in this story and I love how we begin to unravel what is truly going on and what the human government ultimately wants to do. I can't wait to see how this arc unfolds and I am eagerly awaiting the next book! Highly recommend🌟💖🔥🔥💖🌟🌟💖🔥
Whew, what a ride! I believe this has been my favorite book in the series so far. Brooks is a military-tier (female soldier) of Mercenia who found herself woken from cryosleep with no idea what happened or even how long she has been under. What she does know is that she's missing memories and surrounded by huge green aliens, so she does what any rational person would do: she runs.
I've read a few other reviews who cited the lack of romance but I think this is unfair to her. Romance should be the last thing on her mind, especially considering what happened to her just prior to the cryosleep. I give her all the props in the world for handling it as well as she did. Being former military myself, I can say that our training teaches you to compartmentalize things, and Brooks uses that training well. She's a warrior, as the MMC so often reminds her. Simply put, I loved this.
Honestly, this may have been my favorite book in the series. Having the big burly alien warrior be the one to really grapple with anxiety and guilt was a refreshing change of pace. And he was so focused on Brooks’ recovery and healing from the events that led to her cryo-sleep. Also how proud he was to be paired with a female warrior - I mean when she’s all self conscious of how muscular she is and he tells her she has the most beautiful thighs in the village? Swoon.
Brooks was also a truly fleshed out character. I feel like alien romance authors sometimes have a tendency to make either all of the alien MCs across the series pretty similar, or all of the human MCs pretty similar. (So like all the aliens are super muscular, growly, protective and stoic OR all the females are like, been strong for too long and happy to let the males be the strong ones now) but I didn’t really feel that with this novel. She formulated a plan immediately on waking to save herself while allowing opportunity to save her charges, she created a partnership with Maldek where they were strong for one another, and she stayed strong for herself, grappling with her memories as they started to return while trying to unlearn a lifetime of manipulation from her commanding officers.
The series is really starting to get into Mercenia’s influence and corruption on an intergalactic scale now that we’ve reached the second season. Their level of cruelty and greed has been shocking in the other books and it only continues to get worse in this one. Though I read these books for a little escapism and a single corporation that replaces the global government and then seeks to expand into the rest of the universe is like, surprisingly close to home given how science fiction it SHOULD be.
I have to say I'm relieved there are more women for the Raskarans and hope poor Lazran will get a mate as well as many others. Well written, good plot and happy matings, what's not to like. I see a resemblance to man's history with new worlds as well as significant features of things happening at this current time in history. I have to wonder if everyone reading this series sees the similarities. I think some will and some will just see what they want to believe. This may be fiction folks but I see more than that, I see truth in the underlying theme. I highly recommend and look forward to many more books in this series and am following the author so I can continue reading.
Read for r/Fantasy Book Bingo 2024: Dreams. I loved going back to this series and reading the latest book! Now I am eagerly awaiting book 8 because the mystery is really ramping up!
This series has a lot of heart and reading the healing journey of each of the women is like a warm hug each time I finish a book. It’s so satisfying seeing the village grow.
The capitalist and dystopian nature of the future Earth is a little different from many of these Sci Fi Mars Needs Women romances. Each heroine brings more background story about what Earth has become. The overarching story involving the Earth company Mercenia is compelling and I can’t wait to know more about their motivations and goals.
I read all of these prior to reviewing. Series thoughts: really, really good. Strong individually but makes a really nice, cohesive whole.
Book specific: Favorite to date! I've loved Maldek from day one so I was thrilled to get his book and Brooks was such an interesting character. I could see how some readers might not enjoy her but I loved her. She's so different to all of the other heroines to date but I enjoyed the change up and I thought it added to this particular story. Her different way of thinking was so interesting, particularly in the dreamspace. Her whole evolution was really good. Nothing has ever been more romantic than Maldek silently handing Brooks a spear.
i’ve been following this series for the past few books and i just gotta say it never disappoints. so many creative ideas and the world building is wonderful, the detail is really nice, things i never would have thought of but seeing them make so much sense. i’m so excited that it’s going to keep going on, i love the raskarrans so much! thank you heather fox for giving these to us and i can’t wait for the next one! please everyone read this, you won’t regret it. 5/5 to the whole series
I loved it. That idea that you can meet your soulmate in your dreams before you meet them in person has always fascinated me. I enjoyed the entire story and the way feelings evolved between the two MC. That your government could betray you the way they did Brooks but not at all hard to believe. I am really looking forward to more of the truth about what’s really going on being revealed in future books.
Listen, I am absolutely in lobe with this series and upset with the fact that I can't have my very own Raskarran mate. Looking for a great series with sexy alien males, REAL heroines and great syorylines, THIS IS IT! I'm very picky about sharing reviews just to hype the author up, but I have to give it to Heather Fox because each book has been outstanding. I can't wait to see what the next one in the series brings us.
This series never fails to snag me from the first page. The characters are awesome and the stories are too. I just love the way all the characters interact with one another. I love the way each story builds on the whole story. Characters from the past are still actively included in the current story. It makes the story so much more interesting and complex. I highly recommend this series.
The slight shift in direction of the story is wonderful. Opens up the plot, brings in new characters, gives more information about Mercenia, and brings more Raskarrians into the spotlight so we can get to know them. I’ve read a TON of sci-fi romancey books and this series is at the top for me. Engaging and simple yet the world building has the potential to be deep and vast. Brooks is a refreshing character to have enter the series.
I liked the book but would have preferred more romance. I felt like the focus of the book was on her missing memories.
I did like how she was a "warrior woman" who had her hair in a buzz cut (by choice) and he gave her his spear to use instead of just killing the dangerous animal about to attack them. The hero respected her and her profession.
This series is so good! World and character building are great! Romance? Check! Drama? Check! Sweet? Check! Spicy? Check! HEA? Better believe it! I can't wait for the next one. Once the series is complete and I've read them all, I will definitely read them over again.
Oh how I enjoyed this book. I read it in 3 hours and now I am frustrated because I will have to wait for the next. The characters are so very interesting and different. The stories vary so the reader doesn't get bored. Heather Fox is so good to her readers, giving us yummy aliens and our own dreamscapes.
I'm loving this series by Heather Fox which features the rain forest Raskarran warriors who save the human females who crash landed on their planet. The aliens' women died long ago, so the women are a hot commodity to the mostly gentlemanly aliens who truly cherish the ladies.
I mostly skimmed this so I feel a bit bad marking it as read. It was definitely entertaining like the rest of this series, but since it’s a part 2 and featuring one of the frozen women who they found on the new planet who was ex-military as well, I just wasn’t as into it in the moment for some reason. I’ll definitely pick this up sometime in the future and give it a more honest read through.
I read a lot of alien romances on kindle unlimited and most are just mediocre quality.
This series is a cut above the rest. The storyline is well thought out and developed and there is enough variety in the characters to not induce too much repetition or boredom.
I’m very eager to read what’s coming next for this tribe.
wasn’t as surprised as some reviewers but I like it
I love the change of the story. Often time it’s the story different font with these type of books, and I don’t mind. Each time I want a switch up the next book has one, it’s what I like about this series. The authors writing has improved or a better editor was found, it was great.
The first of the women found in cryostasis at the Mercenia base wakes up and Brooks is very different from any other human woman the Raskarrans have met so far. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one!
Soldier story. As well as her gradual release of all the conditioning the humans did on her. Author did great job at showing her slow awaking and growth. Looking forward to others.
I have enjoyed all the books in the Raskarrans’ series and Changed is no exception. It is exciting, tense, hot and makes you want to jump into the next book so the adventure continues!
Maldek has found his linasha even though she doesn't know it yet. Brooks is accidentally awoken from cryosleep. Alone and not knowing what to expect. Not remembering most of her past. Together they need to find answers. Enjoy
Not sure how I feel about this as I haven't read the series in order so please keep that in mind... this series really makes me think of IPB, and other "aliens need women" SFR series (Presley Hall, Tana Stone, Ursa Dax, etc.)
I love a tall, competent heroine who is appreciated for it. However, overall this could have used a bit more romance. I also felt like it ended abruptly. I thought it go on a bit more; it felt a bit unfinished.
I love this sci fi series of human refugees and big cinnamon roll aliens. This one had some quite dark moments as we learn more about the dystopian Earth the women have come from. There are more books to come but they haven't been released yet, I’ll be looking forward to the next one when it comes!
So so good it's like 85% lore about mercenias and this is the first time we got a glimpse of what mercenia was planning. It seems like there would be more book series centered on this world, I'm hoping we get to see Sansla's(from Seized book) story, I'm a sucker for redemption stories lol
