As a music educator, I appreciate the Kate & Kay Conservatory's selection and arrangement of works for cello because a conscious effort was made to include pieces that correlate with the cello open strings.
One reviewer mentioned that the inclusion of Christian/religious songs will be off-putting for some people.
I encourage the authors to edit this volume #1 to 1) correct the misspelling of GREENSLEEVES in the table of contents; 2) include a max of Jewish and/or other religious music.
The inclusion of a violin concerto (Vivaldi's SPRING) was very confusing for me- one Jewish religious piece that is traditionally played on cello, Kol Niderei, is something that could replace the Vivaldi.
I also appreciate the guitar fingerboard graphs- very useful for adult beginners who are either learning the instrument entirely on their own or have given guitar a try in the past.
Classical, Early American, Hymns, and Folk tunes weave pages together in an easy-to-musically-read set of sheets that will get any player excited to get started. Whether cello, piano, or both, these recognizable tunes will be a boon to both learning and confidence as you fill the air with songs we love (well, I surely do, anyway). I'm shocked how affordable sheets are these days. This is a 'buy now, must have' collection.
These are great practice songs and so great for beginners. When you recognize the song you are playing it makes it easy to want to keep going, and you can feel like you’re accomplishing things. The piano accompaniment helps with it feeling like you’re getting better and better.
This is a fantastic collection for a growing cello player. The song choices are superb. The songs range from fairly easy to quite a bit more challenging…such as on Jesu Joy of Man’s Desire. For what it’s worth….the piano accompaniment arrangements are also quite good. No aspiring cellist will be sorry to add this to their library.
This book includes a nice variety of familiar tunes along with piano accompaniment for beginner cellists. They are well formatted for beginners and will set them up for success! Definitely recommend.
If you are a beginner cellist you can never do enough good foundational work. This book will help you building on the good foundation and grow your skills. For any Cellist I highly recommend this book.
The print is large enough to easily read without losing your place. It includes a section for just cello and also a piano accompaniment section. All the classics you would expect are in here!
