This is the wonderful saga of the man chosen by God to be the earthly father of Jesus. Warm and inspiring, readers are given insight into the strength demonstrated by this carpenter who took on the role of Mary's husband and the stepfather of the Son of God. The secondary story told by the author (one of the great living Biblical story tellers) is of the important role adoptive fathers in general (the author and his wife raised three adopted children). Has the potential to become a Christmas classic -- a book for which copyright means very little and which the powerful story will span generations.
Saint Joseph is my favorite saint and a very dear friend. So, of course, I was very excited to learn all that I could about him. While this book was written by a Presbyterian minister (and I'm Catholic), I still enjoyed myself immensely. There were maybe one or two points where our theology didn't line up, but for the most part, I found the reasoning to be sound.
If you're looking for a quick, light read around Christmastime, that can also be surprisingly deep and spiritually nourishing, then I have to recommend this to you. Come learn more about our sweet St. Joseph, and allow him to help you to find a deeper appreciation for the Christmas season.
Would recommend to Christians of all denominations, both Catholic and Protestant.
