Tormented

Rate this book
Fostering? Easy, we would look after children who weren't looked after properly or maybe smacked too hard... No-one prepared us for this nightmare'
The scream, when it came, was unlike anything I had ever heard before. It was so piercing it made every hair on my body stand on end, and the memory of the terror I felt then, in that instant, has never gone away. I flew out of my bed and ran into the girls’ room, convinced that something truly, utterly devastating was happening to one of the children. It was.

So sad

This has to be the saddest book I have read. These poor babies sen too much. The bad guys got away with it. Sounds like a cult to me.

Trigger warning SA
This book is very sad it's all about these two children that come into a foster home and have been abused sexually by their whole family and they are having to deal with the repercussions of that and it's really sad. I love how the author helped the reader understand how big of a deal it is to foster care children because I always knew it would be hard but I didn't realize that if there was that many things that you had to do like you have to ask certain questions but not in a leading way and you have to be aware of everything that you do or say around them so that you don't hurt their feelings even if they're doing something that they shouldn't be doing like touching themselves or their family members

System

I feel these things about the system should be told. Great job done. There should be more people to speak out. Soundproofing that room was way overboard to me. As hard as it is the children's voices should be heard and given assured. I give the lady and her family who is writing this book honor because they cared about the girls. The system failed the. In so many ways.
Thank you Lizzie Scott for putting this information out there

Emotional read

I had finished this book last night. All night last night all I've dreamed of are these little girls. I had the worst dreams about monsters. What an emotional read. How sad for those little girls. And to see no justice to the perpetrators. How heart breaking. And what a tragic ending. The story will be with me for a while.

Lizzie and family what an example. I can see the space in your life and writing that this book must have taken a lot and in short bursts to write to let the tears roll. Frank, honest and cutting through the core. Almost wishing for another ending but you show the same answer us historic children will never get and simply justice. But not.

Sad story

Quite the story regarding abuse
Those men should have been charged, I don’t understand why they weren’t. Such a shame

Abuse

Thank you again Lizzie and Howard for compassion in a horrific crime against children. Was a very heartbreaking story gently told.

This book was much better written than her book, Mia, but so very upsetting and heartbreaking. The story here is very similar to a Torrey Hayden book.

Gut wrenching

This was a very hard read! Devastating and I think I knew the outcome as reading the book, I honestly couldn't do this job!

A angel in disguise

You and your family have restored my faith in human kind. As much as I love my children and grandchildren I honestly don't think I could do what you do.
Please buy this book I couldn't put it down i wish all of your foster children well and at least they will have had love while being with you.

The true sacrifice of foster parents for children who have suffered immeasurable pain in their short lives. A very touching story.

This is a heart-wrenching story of two young girls who have clearly suffered a great deal of abuse in the past and are therefore clearly much in need of help from the social care system. Unfortunately, only limited help was available to them, a common failing both then and now, and not just limited to those who are in foster care. This is an account of what appears to be the girls' first foster care placement, with some limited information on what happened to them after leaving this placement. My heart goes out not only to the girls in question but also to the foster family, who clearly suffered alongside the girls.
This book was written without any help from a publishing house, and unfortunately it shows. Lizzie Scott herself said that her writing style drives her daughter to distraction because she keeps going off on tangents - well, Lizzie, your daughter is absolutely correct, you do keep going off on tangents, and there are places where that makes the story you are trying to tell quite difficult to follow! As a suggestion, get your daughter to point out the worst instances to you and try to do something about them. Remember how difficult you found it to follow Chloe's story when she constantly went off on tangents, and try to make it easier for your readers! I would also suggest that you get at least two people to proofread your work, as some typos and silly grammar mistakes did manage to get through.
Having said that, it is a tale worth the telling, and I hope that you go on to tell many more.
