Twenty-eight year old Skyy Huntington recently inherited a house and a good sum of money from her deceased grandfather. Soon after she relocates to Marblehead, Massachusetts to move into the new house, her world gets turned upside down when she encounters a mysterious entity in the cemetery while visiting her grandfather's grave. Skyy's reality as she knows it ends once she discovers that the supernatural world is real; something she's always been interested in. She's afraid to tell anyone, even her lifelong best friend Christian Vane. As she tries to discover more about the entity, she learns about a family lie that's been kept secret for centuries, that all started within Countess Elizabeth Bathory's castle walls. She soon finds herself immersed in a world of darkness and magic, good and evil, as she begins to form friendships with the most unlikely of people, and finds romance when she least expects it!

3.5 stars. It would be 4 if the fighting scenes weren't cut off so short.
This was surprisingly good for a first installment.
Very sweet and the characters are utterly lovable!
Aiden is hot, Christian is sweet, Fiona is amazing and I even liked Lucian. :)
Sky was an easy character to read about.
This book made for a good day in.
If there is a second installment I'll probably check it out.

The Lie was not what I was expecting, but not in a bad way, by any means! Quite the contrary, I found the characters engaging and the storyline very addictive. It moved at the perfect pace and kept me intrigued. At first, I was a little iffy on Aiden. To be honest, I was kind of hoping that Christian would redeem himself. After all, I am a sucker for a best friend romance story. I of course enjoyed the supernatural elements, vampires, and magic. Not to mention Aiden and his vampire family being from Scotland, my favorite country in the world. I will definitely be continuing on with this series.

I really enjoined this book. It managed to take me away from my own problems into the world of compelling and adorable characters like Skyy and Aidan who has to deal with those. Holly Hudspeth managed to create very believable characters and I definitely want to know what will happen to them next. The book was packed with action, suspense and adventure which kept my attention from the beginning to the end. Great read.

This book was one I added to my TBR shortly after joining Good Reads in 2013. At the time I hadn’t read much if any urban fantasy. I think I might have read One young adult series that I liked the first of but ended up hating and not finishing by book three or four. In the last two years I’ve tried both the Kate Daniels and October Day series and didn’t care for them. I figure that I just didn’t like Urban Fantasy. I almost gave up on this book since I couldn’t get it from my library, but when I recently borrowed it I decided I’d give it a try. I wasn’t sure at first since it had some of the same writing style I didn’t care for in other urban fantasy. However, it quickly became less urban fantasy and more fantasy in my opinion.

Skyy is an interesting character who is relatable and her best friend Christian is a good guy. Their potential romance at the opening was a bit awkward and I felt for Christian because Skyy kept flipping back and forth on him. Aiden is also a very likable character and I enjoyed the way he and Skyy get to know each other. Overall, the story had tension and romance, but it was light on both. I’m surprised that I really enjoyed this book it seemed like it was outside what I enjoy. I’m very glad I gave it a chance.

When is lying to someone really okay?

For Skyy she doesn't know she is living a lie, no one in her family seems to know the secrets her grandfather took to his grave, but when real life vampires seek her out for a spell book she is supposed to have well she must figure out the truth real quickly. She must figure out why vampires can't mind whammy her and what her dead grandfather took to his grave maybe since ghosts are real she can ask him herself but maybe she doesn't have to. One thing is sure nobody wants a psychopathic, witch, vampire, serial killing woman to get her hands on the spell book made from the blood and souls of her victims. Follow Skyy into a world she always wanted but isn't sure what to do with now that she has it.

I downloaded The Lie as a free book from Amazon. Although the story line was somewhat predictable, and I had a hard time believing a 600 year old vampire would be shy, or interested in a person so young, I liked the plot progression and the non-stop pacing. Some grammar issues, but nothing that made the reading difficult. The ending is cliffhanger-ish, but I was satisfied by the end and the open segue to the next book.

They're Real

She's living in the house that her grandfather left her but now she's living out a fantasy. Right? Her life just got turned upside down and she's fighting for it.

Really enjoyed this book and so glad I found it. Cheesy in some places but that's only because I read a lot and some of the things the characters says or thinks, I think to myself that be my reaction :-)
I couldn't put it down until I finished it and even then I had to grab the next, defiantly worth a read :-)

I met Holly, really liked spending time with her, and have since read all her books. This story pulls you in, and I was lucky enough to read this as fast as my life would allow. I have read it again, and I am in love with the characters.

My wife, who has no interest in fantasy, read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. She says that the story is romantic, the characters believable and the plot held her interest. Stong praise indeed.
