StentRo and his Niña! Lawd I loved this story sooooo much! Stenton Rogers is an MVP NBA baller that is one of the most sought after in the league. He’s been known to attach himself to a scandal or two but is finally trying to clean up his image and do better. He had no idea that Zoey’s young äss was going to pop up and expose him to a love that he’d never experienced.

Zoey has it all! She’s a beautiful young woman and had the brains to match! Currently a student at Princeton, she has her whole life planned out. Despite growing up in the church she is determined not to follow in the path her family has set of being a deacon’s wife pumping out babies. She wants to live! She wants to see the world and make a real change….then and only then will she consider settling down.

Well meeting Stenton causes her to question everything she wanted for her life and when he feels her pulling away he does something that will ensure he has her in his life forever!! Zoey!!! Forgive my guy in book 2! He had a moment of weakness but he loves you!!! And you love him!!! Bernard ain’t the one and neither is Erica’s whack äss!! I know Love is not going to make this easy for me because she loves to stress a bish out but I’m rooting for StentZo! Don’t let me down book 2🫣😩

Stent & Zo

This is another good story….man, from the time this story begins, you are hooked with the story of Stenton Rogers & Elizabeth “Zoey” Barrett. Stent is a franchise NBA player and Zoey is a Princeton sophomore when they meet…Stent is intrigued with her and she could care less….But, from there the story ensues…this is a beautifully penned story….I can’t wait to pick up book 2.

Never read a book like this before. For 3 days I’ve been reading this story trying to see how it’s going to end 😩 The story goes back & forth from past to present.

Zoey is so young at the tender age of just 20 she meets Stenton & he brings out this sexy side to Zoey. She’s a church girl who said she didn’t want to be tied down until she saw the world & lived her life. Well Stenton had other plans to keep his Niña close 😬

I am at the 75%mark and this book is dragging. The H and h claim to love one another but I don't buy it. They are so frustrating, lack communication skills. We kept being told how strong the h is I am not convinced. Their excuse for not being together is weak....

Imagine my surprise the book ends on a cliff hanger. After all that boring drama, I'm so disappointed!

Bad Boy Rocker NBA Basketball player Stenton Rogers is every woman's dream and every parents nightmare LOL!!! Stenton in his early years was wild, aggressive, sexually wild, didn't give a f*ck and did whatever and whenever he wanted. After being in the media 24/7 he decided to clean up his act, firing his former publicity team and hiring all professionals who were tasked with getting his image cleaned up and him straight. Practicing at a basketball camp which was low key allowed him to do that until he saw her.

Zoey Barrett was doing a summer internship much to her chagrined that her cousin Angela roped her into. Zoey didn't care about athletes the only thing she cared about was school, finishing up her undergraduate at Princeton University which she was on full scholarship and getting into Wharton for her Masters. So Zoey would have much rather been in the library studying and planning on helping her parents out financial, then being stuck at some country club handing out Gatorade to a bunch of dumb jocks. That is until she saw him.

Angela sole quest was to sleep with a NBA Baller and she had her sights on Stenton but he didn't give her the time of day because he had his sights on her cousin Zoey. Who could read a person to filth with the quickness, she was brainy, cute and much to young for him but he was drawn to her. Once Angela sensed that Stenton wasn't paying her no attention she turned her sights on his homeboy Alton another NBA Bad Boy, so as those two were humping like dogs in heat, Stenton wanted to get to know Zoey and after her numerous brush offs to him, she began just talking to him. Zoey soon finds out that Stenton is a braniac just like she is and the actually have something in common.

Stenton discovers an innocence and realness in talking with Zoey, she called him on his BS and she really had no idea who he was because she didn't follow sports. The conversation was completely refreshing and stimulating, they talked about anything and everything. Debated and belly laughed, all these things Stenton didn't experience with other women. They instantly become best friends which then in turns one night causes them to cross a threshold where there was no coming back from.

That path sent them down avenues neither was prepared for emotionally, spiritually or mentally but they still went. It was a lot of their hearts being exposed, broken, healed, broken, healed and broken again. Then a baby comes into the mix and everything changes for them and they find themselves really struggling to make things right between each other.

This story is Book 1 and it does an incredible job with going from the past of who they met and into the future which a huge bomb was just revealed and it left me reeling for sure. How do Zoey and Stenton come full circle and finally be on the same page? You have to believe that they will get it together.

I chose to give this a book 5 rating because Love Belvin earned each star through every single well written page! The book is the love story of Stenton and Zoey. Both are sensitive and love just as hard as the other. The story chronicles their love over a period of seven years. There is plenty of steamy scenes filled with love and passion. Stenton is brave strong, responsible and deeply in love with Zoey. Zoey is brave, strong, intelligent, loving and deeply in love with Stenton. This is not your ordinary love story, because it is filled with twists turns and you find yourself wanting to just make the two of them talk to each other. I found myself cheering for them and nearly crying for them every time the opportunity to properly love each other was delayed! I've read all 5 of Ms. Belvin books now and they all are the epitome of what quality writing should be. As I've stated before I Am A Fan For LIFE! You write it Love Belvin and I will blindly buy it! You have proven yourself to be an Awesome writer! I love your writing because the stories you write move me, make me think and consider life from a different perspective. Outstanding !!! I can imagine anyone not being moved as I've been with this book. Well Done!

✨ Book Review ✨

I gave book one of the Waiting to Breathe series by Love Belvin 4.5 stars, and babyyyy Stenton and Zoey had me in a chokehold from beginning to end. Stenton Rogers is this professional NBA player with some scandals under his belt, trying to clean up his image and focus on the game. The last thing he expected was for this young Princeton student, Elizabeth “Zoey” Barrett, to slide into his life and immediately shake up his world. Zoey is that girl—beautiful, brilliant, and bold. She came from a strict, religious household and had no interest in following the traditional path of marriage and babies right out the gate. Sis had dreams, ambition, and a timeline for all that love stuff, but of course, life had other plans once she volunteered at a basketball camp with her cousin.

At first, it was all friendly vibes between her and Stenton, but the chemistry? I mean, come on. It didn’t take long for the tension to boil over into something deeper. And while the attraction was undeniable, whew, the communication between them was a whole different story. If you look up the definition of miscommunication, their pictures would be side by side, smiling. 😩 Zoey held back her inexperience, and Stenton… whew child, this man pulled a stunt so wild, so unnecessary, I had to sit my Kindle down and ask myself if I read that right. Like, what was even the logic behind that “plan” of his?! You knew she was younger, you knew she was figuring herself out, so why pretend like your control issues were some noble sacrifice? Boy, be for real.

And let me just say this—miscommunication is one of my least favorite tropes, especially when we’re dealing with grown folks. But the way Love Belvin pens such layered, emotionally complex stories makes it impossible to look away. Her storytelling is rich, the characters feel like real people, and even when I was frustrated with their choices, I understood them. I felt like I knew these characters personally, and that’s no easy feat. Bravo, Love.

I already know Stenton is about to piss me off even more in book two, but I’m strapped in and ready to go because I need to see how Zoey handles this foolishness. And listen, I want her to boss up on this man and show him she doesn’t have to sit around waiting on him. But Bernard is not the one. Love Belvin, please, give my girl a worthy option!

There were a few moments that really stuck with me: Zoey’s quick comebacks had me hollering, especially when she got in Alton’s face. Her relationship with her mom was so layered and real. I loved seeing Stenton and Sara’s dynamic—soft, protective, unexpected. Angela was doing a little too much for me, like girl, be serious. And Jordan? That little boy got more sense than most grown folks, and I loved every scene with him.

Anyway, let me go dive into book two and prepare for more chaos—because these two? They don’t read between the lines, and they damn sure don’t communicate. 🙃

I am looking for the day when this author tells the story in one book . I really liked Stenton and Zoey I liked getting to know them I thought their story was sexy , and exciting .But what I could not understand after reading both books was why it took two tell this wonderful story. I did not buy the reason for the break up , but hey people do silly things when they are in love . The chemistry of Zoey and Stenton is so hot I got hot ,my favorite person in the book is Alton he gave me many good laughs in this books. I also the relationship with JR and his dad , the scene where he pooped for the first time was so funny and true to life I laughed out loud.This is a good story but I felt it was drawn out and I do not understand why ,I will be interested to see if this a pattern with this author.

This was my first read by this author. I loved the characters Stenton and Zoey(Elizabeth) however their story could have been told much better and a lot less tedious. I saw no reason their story could not have been told and ended beautifully in one book. The potential for this to have been a great love story is there but you can't see the greatness because the greatness is blinding. (Edited 12-9) It all makes sense now... even though I still say this one could have been less convoluted.

Destined to follow her own path,the astute and studious Zoey Barrett has her whole life planned out: study hard, attain her degree and take care of her family. All her academic affairs are aligned but when she meets NBA bad boy rocker, Stenton Rodgers by chance, matters of the heart take hold and throw her off balance.
Though his game is stellar on the court, Stenton's life behind the skills and brand is not exactly up to par as he would like. After he meets Zoey a budding friendship ensues, but will his intentions ring true in capturing what he so desperately wants?

Ok...give me a minute to catch my 'breath'. I have stalked this book to no end. I almost had a panic attack when I learned it was out. I stayed up day and night reading and even took a day off from work to catch up.. Never in lifeeeee have I done that! I actually slowed down to savor it so my euphoric state would not end prematurely. By the time I had discovered Love's work, all the books to her first series, L.I.P were already out so I never had to wait for a book to drop. LAWD help that was like agony; her books were just that noteworthy that I could not wait for Love Delayed to be released.

This book was everything..when I say everything..e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g! The titillating drama was building from the first chapter.The first few pages had my mind blown; I could not even contain myself as it set the tune for the entire plot. The suspense of what was going to happen 'in and out of time' had me on edge. It threw me off in a good way and had my mind reeling and wondering what would take place in the next scene. Ok, breathe, mmmmmm, those sex scenes were so steamy I had to clutch my imaginary pearls (lol). The pacing of the plot and the accuracy of the timeline made this book very enjoyable for me as well. I am a stickler for accurate data and time. I hate when the timing does not match up in a plot; Love masterfully weaves each chapter and wonderfully blends the present and past down to a science. It had me wondering what in the past affected the present. This helped with the smooth and seamless progression of the plot.

And let's not even talk about these characters....ohhhhh chale! The major and minor characters were all fully developed and made for a wonderful addition to the storyline. The interaction between Stenton and Zoey was refreshing and at times so whimsical. So many books have 'flash romance'; the connection, the verbal teasing and playful banter between these two made them seem lifelike as if you were watching it unfold before your eyes. I could see how Love's love of studying people came into play as realistic characteristics were wrapped up in each character. She made Stenton and Zoey with no likeness to Azmir and Rayna (L.I.P series) in sight; I love that they both have their own unique personalities that set them aside from other characters. Love me some Azmir, but ya boy Stenton just became a fav as well: whew!


And that ending:I felt it was enough to make me salivate just thinking about what would pan out in the end. Love has never written an ending like that before. It was somewhat of a cliffhanger because I kid you not I almost dropped my kindle! But lucky for us readers she won't make us wait long for ... #Love Delivered!

This is a delicious laugh-out-loud, heart-breaking story!

Two worlds collide: a church girl and a NBA "b-baller"! Zoey, a Princeton scholar and Stenton, a professional NBA player enter into an explosive, lust-filled relationship. They both are in deep denial about what is really going on between them. Due to the 9 year difference in their ages, Stenton feels he is taking advantage of 20 year old Zoey. Zoey only wants Stenton on her own terms and that's not the way most relationships work.

I had a huge problem with the flashbacks because they were confusing, annoying and really disruptive to the flow of the story. One chapter Zoey and Stenton are professing their love for one another and the next chapter, Zoey is engaged to Bernard and the name, Jenna is being referred to.

The editing, or lack thereof, left a lot to be desired!

Such a satisfying read! Zoey & Stenton's love affair held me captive throughout the book. Their contrasting images and the storyline had me rooting for them even more! I felt Zoey's innocent nature to Stenton's profession was an added bonus. Enjoyable story! As I prepare to venture to the next part of this series, I encourage all to read!

Really frustrating characters who have difficult communicating significant needs despite having such a good relationship. Really weird dynamic. I don't really like May-December narratives in romance novels and this book is a good example of why. This is just a 3 star read for me. I'm going to read the sequel and then give an overall rating of the series. So far this one is just average.

Rating: 3.50-3.75

This couple has been featured in almost every book I’ve read so far by Love. So I went into this having some idea of their story, but obviously wanting more detail.

I was captured from the beginning and while I enjoyed their evolution so far. And definitely like Stent more than Azmir. He’s no Ezra and Trent.

As it has been a theme so far, when it comes to Love novels. I’m rooting for Zoey! Although their story is a big mixup- if they just say what they wanted. And stop trying to assume what they other feels it would be over.

I’m hoping for some healing between she and Angela. Even though she was trash to Zoey. It would be nice to see that situation heal.

Stenton has wanted Zoey since the summer they first connected during a botched up plan from her cousin. What will happen next, will they find their happily ever after? Can they admit there is true love between the two or will feelings of betrayal get in the way? I can't wait to read the next book and find out! Once again loving these novels Love Belvin, keep it up!

There’s nothing I love more then angst so I’m about to binge read this author’s whole catalogue.

One thing I learnt is communication goes a long way and unfortunately stenton and zoey didn’t even have an ounce of it😂 I like zoey but stenton is still a bit…idk🙃 his delusion surpassed mine the moment he thought he could get away with what he did LOL

I enjoyed this book from the start! Zoey and Stenton’s love story is complicated but cute and sexy. I learned of the legendary StentRo in the Connecticut Kings series and it was fun to really get to know him in this book. Stenton is down bad about his Nina! They are like that couple everyone knows that we can all see they love each other but for dumb reasons they aren’t together. Hopefully, he can get that resolved in book 2.
