I like to write about discovering the true power hidden in pleasure and living with an open heart.

I love to travel, spending as much time as I can in Paris, London, New York, and Los Angeles.

I believe stories have the power to change hearts and lives. Love, eroticism, and sensuality provide the greatest inspiration for the heart. When we claim our pleasure, we activate our power and embolden our hearts to create lasting change in our lives and the world.

★★★★! London Lace, book 1-5 (complete series). Debut by Catou Martine. Enigmatic, bossy, mature and oh so sexy Sir Todd embarks on a no-strings-attached sexual affair that quickly becomes more complex.

This is a series consisting of 5 parts that combined make a 340 page read. I recommend reading as a set and thus I have reviewed as a set. Please note that the Omnibus has been released.

Hero: Sir Todd Montgomery/British/race horse breeder/aristocrat/40 years old approx./dark brown hair/blue eyes/6’1”
Heroine: Eliza Keating/British/Business owner (Candied Locks)-milliner/29 years old/dark brown hair/brown eyes

Story is told from Eliza’s POV (in 3rd person).

Eliza and Sir Todd are supposed to go on a blind date. Instead there first meeting is a disaster. After Eliza “tipsy calls” Todd in the middle of the night to tell him off he ends up stopping by for some hot sex. What starts off as great no-strings-attached sex quickly turns complicated. Todd’s and Eliza’s story ends up being bumpy one with anything from individual baggage to secrets, lies to vindictive exes and more. Add to that the tabloids trying to find a juicy story.

Sir Todd (well as it turns out Eliza is the only one allowed to call him Sir!) has many amazing qualities. At first glance is very handsome and sexy and he is great in bed; bossy and all about aiming to please. He is also enigmatic and brooding with darkness in his past. He is very mature, but above everything I love the way he always knows how to handle Eliza and he says the most profound and insightful things. And oh, did I mention he is Brit?!
“He was a volatile combination of stubbornness, anger, impulsiveness, and virile grace. He was a seducer, but he was also a loner. He was reaching out to her, but also wanted to keep her at bay, at a safe, controllable distance. He was conflicted. Intense. Sure of himself but less sure of her. She knew she should be cautious, that she could get hurt…”

Eliza is a “Rags to riches” story; coming from a poor upbringing and after making it as a milliner she has tried shut the door to her past. Career wise she has done really well for herself; she is strong determined and motivated. It’s evident early on that her unresolved past has plagued her relationships and they will play havoc on her and Sir Todd’s. Like so many heroines paired with great heroes, she managed to annoy me at times. This is very much her journey of self discovery and closure.
“Beauty and pain are real. Together they show us we are alive. You are beautiful, Eliza. Eventually, your pain will heal.” [Todd]

That said, for some reason I did not connect as well with Eliza as I might have wished. There was something about the 3rd person narrative that left me on the outside, wanting to connect better with her. I might have also wished to get Todd’s POV. I liked so many qualities in him, but I feel like I missed knowing him better.

The sex is off the charts:
“I want you to know that kind of pleasure from me first because I want you to know that your pleasure, from now on, will be the first thing I think about upon waking and the last thing I think about when I go to sleep, and in between I hope to be doing it more than thinking it.” He gave her that look again, a glowering sexy look of untamed hunger.”

And their sex becomes a bit explorative with them venturing out…

Catou Martine did a great job with Todd’s and Eliza’s story. Despite the drama and turmoil it ended up very much being a “feel good” read so I am recommending their story!

HOLY BATMAN, EFFFing A!!!

This book was scorching hot. Like this whole series was scorching but this last book, WOWZA!! I think this review will be more for the whole series.

Eliza and Todd started out way back when, in book one, being set up by a friend, they didn't have a good first initial meeting, but after a drunken phone call Todd shows up at Eliza's home to make a point and they ended up in bed. They both realized something more was happening between them and he asks her to come to the races with him. This starts the whole series. From jealous ex's to a huge scandal, Eliza is thrown into a confusing ride with Todd. Both have histories they haven't gotten completely over yet, Eliza especially. Todd is famous due to being apart of the famous Montgomery family and hotter than hot, so he is constantly being followed and photographed which leads to more misunderstandings between them, but they always seem to talk everything out. And once its all talked out it leads to hot scorching sex. I'm talking in horse stalls, train cars, BJ's while driving down the road, a accidental menage, and a really sweet beach romp, not to mention the hotter than hot sex these two had in front of the fireplace. Of course they did use a bed some too, lol. :)

I loved the series. Todd was a really deep guy and I enjoyed getting to know him. He had so much patient in the end with Eliza. Eliza had some deep routed issues but I thought she did well considering everything she had to endure to be with Todd.

Go pick these books up. It's a really good read and hot short story series and perfect to fit in for an in between read.

The thrilling conclusion to Eliza and Todd's story was off the hook! I just couldn't get enough. I just kept reading and reading as I delve more into the story. I wanted so much for their relationship to be out in the open but I also loved the little tryst on the side that they had. It made more romantic to me. This last part was so a roller-coaster. My emotions were shot as I was for Todd one minute and Eliza the next. My heart was broken when he took her to the cottage and basically poured his heart out to her and she disappointed him. I was so sad and afraid that it would end like that. I was very happy when the truth was revealed at the end. When Eliza and Todd just gave their hearts to one another at the race, it just made me melt! I wished I could find a Todd. Eliza was one lucky woman! Overall, it was a great series and I never wanted to stop reading until I found out what happened next. Everyone should read this!!

London Lace #5
By: KC Martin
5/5 stars

In the 5th and final installment of London Lace, Eliza has just earned the Royal’s contract to design their hats for the Ascot races. She has to leave Evergreen Downs and return to London for work that will be non-stop until the races are over. Meanwhile, Todd has to keep up his fake engagement with Melissa so that the tabloids and some of her family don’t learn of her sexual preference & lesbian relationship with Todd’s sister Christine.

The turn that their lives have taken, put additional stressors on their relationship, their lives and their mindsets. But they still try to make time for each other where they can. They still have some drama, and it makes you want to smack them upside the head!!

The sex, especially the adventurous kind it off the charts HOTT in this book.

Reviewing Series books 1-5. I really enjoyed this series. It was not overly long, but definitely long enough that we were able to get a complete story. It involved many different characters, with numerous supporting ones that played large parts in the enitirety of the book.
I loved the fact that this was a bit off the wall. At the beginning, I thought I was reading from a victorian era, but as I got more into the first book in the series, I realized it was more modern day. This was definitely a well thought out, and thoroughly enjoyed, twist!
I like the fact that there are many ups and downs in their relationship, since real life is not all coming up roses.
I love that both the here & heroine are from completely different backgrounds, but deep down, they are the same.
Lots of hot sex scenes, lots of pain, and lots of love. All in all, a truly great read

I love (sense my sarcasm) how this book needed to be more risque than the rest. Let's start with the foursome. Unnecessary and a little dumb. We didn't need that. Once again Eliza all of a sudden has all this baggage that she can't deal with and doesn't trust whatever Todd's doing. Blah blah blah. Too late for character development at this point since all the writing has been focused on giving the two of them orgasms. I understand these are novellas but if you want me to care you can't just throw all these back stories and behaviors at me at once and think I'll care. I honestly wished the 2 of them stayed broken up.

Also, I doubt anyone calls the Queen, "ma'am".

And a hat designer? Ok....

Great love story. Two complicated individuals from different sides of the tracks, can their love grow and survive? I love this story because the characters are well defined with a masterful style. You understand them and feel for them. In addition, as the love affair moves along, you watch them grow and struggle with their pasts and the forces that continue to affect their lives.

Catou Martine, love your writing. No spoilers here, but must say, I loved Tatum's wish for another flood!

Todd and Eliza's story could have ending many different ways but I do believe this one is extremely fitting. You have to lose something in order to find it and sometimes you find other things you didn't know were missing. This part is the story had it all sexy scenes, humor and drama. Best part of the story.

Good series, glad Eliza was able to speak with her mother an overcome her issues. Happy with the outcome between her and Todd.
