Titan Falls #1

Broken Beauty

Rate this book
The charmer.
The stalker.
The tortured leader.
The unhinged psychopath.

I never believed in love - until I met them. The four enigmatic men who would change my life forever.

When I discover the existence of a hidden fortune of an accused witch from the 1700s on Titan Falls campus - a woman executed for poisoning noblewomen's husbands – I had no idea it would force me to choose between my own desires and the safety of those I loved.

Morgan, Xavier, Rio and Rossi are all after the treasure, too.

Their growing attraction to me complicates things. I can't help but feel drawn to each of their dark habits in a way that threatens to destroy me. I sense these men are hiding something, but every time I almost uncover the answer, they call to the darkness inside me as a distraction, the one I thought my morals consumed a long time ago.

As I get closer to the centuries-forgotten fortune, I know I'm playing a dangerous game. But when bloody trinkets start being left at my door, I realize I've gotten too close. Not to the accused witch's secret, but to theirs.

I find myself caught up in a web of power and desire that I'm ashamed to admit, thrills me. But as I struggle to navigate their treacherous games, I begin to question everything I know about love, lust, and the human heart.

And in the end, I'm not sure if I'll be the one left standing.

--

One woman, four men, and a hidden treasure that could be the death of her - Will she uncover the truth in time, or will her heart be the ultimate casualty?

Broken Beauty can be read on its own, but be warned - its twisted path intersects with the captivating world of Cruel Promise.

set at a isolated college in Titan Falls, the story revolves around a witch who was murdered in the 1700s and the hidden treasure she might’ve left behind. even though there’s many nods to witchcraft and spells, this is not a paranormal romance. there’s some inclusions of the mafia too through the 4 mmc’s and their pasts. this had all the intrigue, mysteries, plot twists, insane men and tension.

Clover: the fmc— a freshman with a love for all things occult/witchy, causing her to be an outcast at school and leads to bullying from her peers. she’s been sheltered her whole life by her brother Tempest (who’s annoying af btw), but doesn’t let that stop her from searching for answers. i can’t say i love her character yet, but i did root for her.

“I’m busy trying to find a curse of hellfire against my greatest enemy.”

Xavier: the charmer— a fellow student who immediately shows interest in Clover. he’s the nicest out of the mmc’s, with a flirty demeanor and British charm😍. he’s reluctant to join in on mafia activities, but will not back down when it comes to solidifying his place in Clovers life.

“I’ve been forced to endure things. Do things I don’t want. Bad things. Things I don’t want to do. But each time I’m convinced I wouldn’t survive, I think of you.”

Hunter Morgan: the psychopath— “professor” of occult studies at the college, who takes pleasure in making others suffer. he’s definitely insane and belongs in the asylum, but idk cause the red flags were looking pink to me😏. i just can’t help being interested in him since he’s so unpredictable.

“This is what you need. You don’t want a Prince Charming; you want a monster.”

Rio: the stalker— fmc’s brother’s bestfriend and her childhood crush. i thought he was creepy at first with some of his questionable behavior ngl, but he’s actually kinda.. sweet? i mean, he always leaves Clover gifts and notes. he doesn’t talk much but is very protective/obsessed with Clover and will jump at the chance to get revenge on anyone who harms her🥹.

“My hand twitches at my side, desperate to comfort my broken girl. And a fire alights in my heart on who I’ll have to kill now.”

Rossi: tortured leader— another professor at the college and the oldest. he was robbed of page time, but the little bit of info that was given had me wishing there was more. all i’ll say is: we love generous men who give clear instructions.. the tension was so 🥵

“Her innocent, sweet face calms me and reminds me of better days.”

overall i had fun with this book and its unique premise, but just a warning that these men are unhinged and do not hold back at all— check the authors note before reading.. that cliffhanger ending? JAIL. running to book 2 🏃‍♀️

This dark contemporary reverse harem was really unlike anything that I've read before. It's pretty unique as it's dark/mafia-related but also a bit paranormal but not paranormal exactly lol. There is a ton of witchcraft lore involved because the FMC investigates an alleged witch who died around the time of the Salem Witch Trials. The mafia guys all quickly begin to research the witch also because it's rumored that she had significant wealth and hid away all her jewels.

The 4 male love interests are all in the mafia, and 2 of them in particular are complete golden retriever psychopaths, which was very entertaining. They get violent revenge against the FMC's mean girl bullies and are constantly stalking the FMC and taking her things/leaving her gifts. Rio and Morgan were definitely my favorites, but Rossi has that hot zaddy energy about him too. Xavier is OK but he's a little too much of a marshmallow for me right now, although the opening sex scene with him was hot.

I liked Clover, but I didn't love her. She is a nerdy girl who is bullied because she's super into witches & spells. Despite being repeatedly pushed around for her interests, she's still so curious that it's hard to not root for her. I did think that she was a little too horny 100% of the time for my liking, but I still liked her overall. Her brother Tempest was kind of getting on my nerves. I wish they would just tell Clover the truth.

I think book 2 (which I think is the last book, making this a duet) will be awesome, as this book had a lot of set-up. It took me a little while to fully understand the mafia dynamics and what the big deal with Sarah's daughter's name is. I'm looking forward to reading it!

Please note, this book is VERY trigger-heavy. The guys are really messed up, and the sex scenes are also very dark. Read content warnings before starting!

Thank you to Ketley Allison for sending me a physical copy of this book! I really enjoyed it!!

“You don’t want a Prince Charming; you want a monster.”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💜❤️💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😟🤭😤☺️🥰

The heroine: Clover - she attends Titan Falls University. She considers herself a sorceress and can see the dead. She is fascinated by Sarah Anderton, the Titan Falls witch who died in the 1700’s. Clover keeps trying to summon her to find out the name of her secret daughter and where she was buried. Clover hadn’t spoken best friend Ardyn in two years before they came to Titan Falls, and since Ardyn kept a secret from her that she was dating Clover’s brother Tempest. Though they recently made up and are somewhat friends again, though secrets still separate them.

The Heroes: Morgan, Rio, Rossi and Xavier - These guys, plus Tempest are the Vultures at Titan Falls, they are mafia assassins whose job it is to dispose of the Dons enemies.
Rossi - he is the hot professor at Titan Falls University. He is cool and intense and walks around with a scowl. He is always looking at Clover, and she him.
Rio (a.k.a. Riordan) - He is friends and roommates of Clover’s brother Tempest. He has known clover for years. He is a stalker that suffers from Fatal Attraction Syndrome. His sights are now fully and completely set on Clover.
Hunter Morgan - a professor of occult studies at Titan Falls University and a roommate of Tempest and Rio though he hates Tempest. He is a bit dark and primal, a psychopath, who is also the nephew of the Mafia Don Marco Bianchi. He has daily fantasies about Clover.
Xaviar - he is a former soccer star from England who seduced a mafia princess and was taken captive by her father. He was tortured and had legs broken and his ring finger cut off only to be later reattached. He enrolled in Titan Falls University, and he hooks up with Clover on his first night in town and can’t get her out of his head after that. `

The Story: Clover lives at Camden House, the female dorm at TF University and most of the girls hate her, bully her and call her a witch. She doesn’t tell her brother, whom they all swoon over and who would fix things for her, because she wants to keep a low profile and live her own life. She is under Tempest’s thumb enough and he is way too overprotective.

“Thinking back on it now, it’s funny I didn’t contemplate how much danger she was putting herself in, bunking near us, the exiles, the unwanted, the most talented executioners the world doesn’t know about, dragging around our chains and using them as garrotes instead of weights.”

Rossi had a plan for him Tempest, and Rio, to “ruin the mafia don, Marco Bianchi, then take his place.” Though when Hunter, who is the don’s nephew, came to town to get his fetishes under control, it through a bit of a wrench in their plans. Though they do not know of how much Morgan hates his uncle for abusing and controlling him most of his life. Now his uncle wants him to find the treasure Sarah Anderton is supposed to have hidden somewhere in Titan Falls.

The story was very intricate and certainly held my attention. I also really enjoyed the backstory of Sarah Anderton and her hidden cache of jewels paid to her by her wealthy patrons who wanted their enemies poisoned and cursed. The part about her daughter was also very interesting. Though I really did like how these four dangerous men each had a thing for Clover and all of them paid attention to her in their own way, while she thought she wasn’t worthy of any of their attention. Especially since she was constantly bullied by the beautiful girls in her dorm.

Goodreads doesn’t show that this is just book one of two, and I didn’t see that on Amazon until I had already started reading this one and was well into the story. So there was a cliffhanger and now I have to buy the next book which I am not too happy about. Though it is a great story and a terrific mystery, so I want to find out how it all ends. I also want to read the first book in this series which was the story of Tempest and Ardyn falling in love.

It’s been so long since I’ve read a book, I don’t think I even remember how to write a review anymore.

I am forever grateful to this book for taking me out of my five-month reading slump. It’s been the worst one yet and I have a lot to catch up on.

I LOVED the female lead in this book. I love how finally, fmcs are becoming so much better, badass girls who own their own story.
I usually have favorites between the boys in why choose romances, but this time I think I liked them all.

Her brother is the only man that gets on my nerves with that annoying attitude.
I don’t have much more to say other than this book is addictive and I need the next one now.
I also wish it was a longer series.

So on page 14, the fmc meets a guy in a dive bar, and then follows said random guy into the woods for sex. They have a brief conversation about the lighting of the moon, and the fmc says “How did you know?…That nature calls to me. And she’s telling me I’m safe with you.” And then they do it. That’s how this book starts. Yup.

So this was in fact not good. I firmly believe (and you cannot convince me otherwise) the author wrote the spice, and then realized she needed a way to move the “story” along. So she decided it should be a mystery about an 18th century witch with a no named daughter and a secret treasure that’s now being looked for by the Mafia (cause the mafia loves witch treasure) who all find the same girl absolutely irresistible for reasons. The writing is just so bad. The dialogue sounds like what I imagine a 10 year old girl thinks cool adults sound like. Any conversation between the vultures (what a horrible mafia name) sounds like it was lifted from a bad, straight to streaming gangster movie set in the 30s.

But this is a bad book that’s so bad, it’s almost good. It’s unintentionally funny, and you keep reading cause you have to know where this is going, and it can’t get worse. Then it does in fact get worse. Much worse. But like in a way that is weirdly entertaining.

So to recap, did I hate this book? Yes. Am I gonna read the second? It’s currently downloading.

Welcome to Titan Falls where the bullies are mean, the professors are invested in more than the schoolwork and occult studies is every Monday afternoons (I don’t actually know when the class was but you get the gist).

Clover wants to summon an Anderton witch who died in 1700s to help her excel in her occult studies class. Once she starts to look closer into the witches history she’s invested in solving the mystery surrounding her and can’t leave the past to rest. The secrets are in more than the past and once she’s started down the rabbit hole there’s no going back.

The other side to this book is the relationship between Clover and her men, RH. When the book first starts we get a taste of where the book is going and then straight into a spicy ‘meet cute’ with one of her love interest. I was invested in finding out about the witch more than her ‘relationship’ at this point and it was a little distracting.

It took me a while to settle into this story (around 15% before I thought I had a grip on it). It’s told from multiple POVs and as I got to know each character I was invested in their journey.

If this hadn’t been part of the morally grey challenge I might not of stuck with it, but that would’ve been a mistake as this was really good. It was an intriguing mystery and the men were all completely different. I enjoyed getting to know everyone and trying to work out what was going on. This is a duet and the story isn’t over yet.

Broken Beauty is the second book of three in the Titan Falls University series. (hello 🧗‍♀️) It is a why choose with Clover and her men. Clover is a student who has a huge love and passion for the witchy history that makes up Titan Falls. While researching for her final paper in her occult studies class, Clover discovers there is a fortune hidden by the resent witch of the town in the 1700s. Little does she know, her men are also looking for this fortune.

This was my first ever Why Choose book! I think it was a fun introduction to the trope. The dynamic between Clover, Xavier, Rio, Morgan, and Rossi is interesting. I think so far, the dynamic between Clover and Rio is my favorite. They have the most history and it seems the most real, not just lustful. I wish we had gotten more of Rossi in this book. We haven’t even scratched the surface of that man, that much is obvious. Xavier is the sweetest of the bunch, which I think Clover needs. Morgan is a wild, loose cannon. He is passionate about the same things that Clover is, which strengthens their connection.

Okay, let me just have a moment here. I enjoyed Tempest and Ardyn’s book, but my goodness is Tempest insufferable in Broken Beauty. I understand that he wants to keep Clover safe, but it’s clear she has a mind and motivation of her own.

Overall, I enjoyed this! I think that the guy’s characters have more developing to go, but since there is another book, I assume that will be resolved. The spice in the book is pretty good! There are some…unconventional… scenes in this, so make sure you read the content warnings if anything bothers you. I am looking forward to seeing how Titan Falls University ends up!

I appreciate Valentine PR for sending me this ARC to review!

I really wanted to love this book but it only ended up being halfway-decent for me. The only thing that saved this book was how much I liked Clover and the plot of the witch mystery she’s trying to solve. 2 of the 4 love interests weren’t it for me— Morgan was weird and Rossi was straight up an asshole. Rio and Xavier were the saving graces. Tempest, Clover’s brother, and Ardyn, Clover’s best friend and Tempest’s girlfriend, are on my shit list bc Tempest is an overbearing, controlling shithead and Ardyn went along with it. Clover deserves so much better and I hope everyone makes it up to her in the next installments lol.

However, if you think this book sounds intriguing I strongly recommend you give it a read! Just because it wasn’t for me doesn’t mean you also won’t like it.

Thank you to Valentine PR for the ARC opportunity!

Clover is trying to solve a mystery from 1700’s for her class project about a Sarah Anderton(a witch)and her daughter. But the closer she gets to uncovering the answers she put herself in grave danger! Not to mention she has attracted the attention of FOUR irresistible men!

Thank you to Ketley Allison and Valentine PR for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This honestly wasn’t the book for me. I could not connect with any of the characters. I tried hard, but it just wasn’t clicking for me. The plot was interesting and I liked the pacing. But the man just didn’t hit right for me and I couldn’t connect to the FMC to save my life. This book is heavy in the TWs so make sure to check those out if you need them. This book just didn’t work for me, but it could definitely be the book for others!

If you are a lover of dark romance, this should be added to your TBR immediately! This book is serving all of the witchy, gothic, treasure hunting vibes with the addition of some kinky smut and 4 hot older guys. I’m a true sucker for reverse harem books, and Broken Beauty was definitely a great start to this series. I definitely enjoyed this book, but I will say that Clover’s brother and so-called bestie, ENRAGED me. I mean I think that’s kinda the point, but I genuinely don’t know if they can be redeemed. I know that the first book in this universe followed Ardyn and Tempest, but since I didn’t read that I have no real information of their relationship. So truly Ardyn seems like a terrible friend and Clover’s brother is just insufferable. Maybeeee, you should read the first book in this universe before this one because I did feel a bit lost regarding the background of the characters. Looking past that, I devoured this book in one night, and now am patiently waiting for the follow up because of the cliffhanger! If you are a fan of Shantel Tessier, or the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep series you’ll love this!

Thanks you so much Ketley for sending me a copy of this book to check out!

OKAY, MA’AM. WHAT??? WHAT!!!

I read Cruel Promise not that long ago, so when the opportunity came up for me to read Broken Beauty early? Yeah, I jumped on that. I liked Cruel Promise, but I just felt like there was something missing. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it felt like there was so much more to the town & to the people around them that was missing… WELL it all makes sense now. It alllllll made sense. Why? This story was not over. Not even close.

Clover was an interesting character and I typically don’t like the gothic witchy vibe girls, but I usually feel like it’s because the author is writing them as the typical female looking for attention. That’s not what Clover is.. Clover is truly and uniquely her and I loved it.

This story revolves around a unique woman who has these 4 men who are all so uniquely different as well. In the beginning, Ketley mentions that you’ll fall for one more than the others and it’s so true. Xavier. *insert drooling here*

I still felt as I was reading there were plot holes… and I was like come on, this is really so good what is happening? OH GUESS WHAT? ITS STILL NOT DONE. THE CLIFFHANGER THOUGH.

You know what this book makes me think of? Did anyone watch that Scooby Doo movie when we were young where the gang goes to Salem and there’s a witch haunting them and the rockstar band of girls who are cool and gothic? That’s the vibes from this book… but with spice & a reverse harem that I don’t think has even gotten started 🔥

So yeah, I’ll be waiting here to enter back into the world of witches & haunted home, dirty talking men & library basements… Ketley, please don’t make me wait too long. 😭

Tropes
- Dark romance
- Age gap romance
- Why choose
- Enemies to lovers

Holy crap… this book took me by surprise. It was so hard not to read this book in one sitting. I wanted to really enjoy it and make it last because I knew the second book wasn’t coming out until September. I love reverse harems as much as the next person, but making it a dark gothic romance?! With all of my favorite tropes?! Forbidden romance, brothers best friend, slow burn, who did this to you, etc. This was a straight masterpiece. I am so excited for the second book, I have no idea how i’m suppose to read anything else now.. 5 FREAKING STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*thank you Valentinepr & Ketley Allison for this arc in exchange for an honest review!*

Broken Beauty is the second book in the Titan Falls University series.
This one is a why choose about Clover and her 4 tortured & dark men!

Titan Falls has a huge history involving witches, particularly revolving around the death of Sarah Anderton and her daughter -who nobody knows the name of-, in the 1700s.
Clover is into all things witchy and occult so this school is right up her alley!
While researching for her final project for her occult studies class, she learns Sarah Anderton has hidden a fortune & nobody’s ever been able to find it. She wants to be the one to uncover it so she can have the best final project ever. But imagine her surprise when she finds out that her men know about this you too & have been secretly looking for it.

THE BOYS

Xavier is the new student & he’s definitely the sweetest. He’s a hot, famous sport’s player(can’t remember which one) with an accent that only makes him more irresistible.

Rio is Clover’s brother’s (Tempest) best friend. He’s definitely Clover’s protector & childhood crush.

Morgan is Clover’s Occult Studies professor that has a depraved past & personality.

& lastly,

Rossi is also Clover’s professor who is maybe old enough to be her dad. We hardly scratched the surface on him, but he’s definitely the leader.

These men are secretive and caught up in something dark. They all have awful pasts and have gone through unimaginable things that have shaped them into the people they are today.
Regardless, I loved how each guy was super different. They all played an essential part when it came to Clovers wants & needs. & HOLY HELL.. the mouth on these boys is 🔥

I was so excited to see how everything was going to end but then we were hit with a cliffhanger.. 🥲
A cliffhanger is a readers worst nightmare, especially when the next book isn’t out yet, but to be left on such a huge moment like the one in this book...

I don’t know if I can handle this but hopefully I don’t have to wait too long to read the continuation.

side note: I loved Clover’s brother Tempest in the first book, Cruel Promise, but he had me wanting to throat punch him in this one. I know that he loves Clover and wants her safe, but she’s allowed to be her own person & make her own choices.

CHECK TW’S!!!!

TROPES:
•Why choose
•Brothers best friend
•Age gap
•teacher/student
•dark romance
•Psycho guys

"Broken Beauty" by Ketley Allison is a dark and suspenseful tale that takes readers on a thrilling journey through the twisted lives of four enigmatic men known as the Vultures. Set in an isolated university in the mountains, the story follows the strange girl who captures their attention, leading to a treacherous turn of events as they search for hidden treasure.

The book excels in crafting complex characters with their own unique flaws and struggles, making it easy to get emotionally invested in their fates. The writing skillfully portrays the dark and alluring world of the Vultures, and the blend of obsession, desire, and danger keeps the reader engaged throughout.

However, despite its gripping premise, the pacing occasionally suffers, and the narrative could benefit from tighter execution. The book's connection to the world of "Cruel Promise" adds an interesting dimension, but at times, it might feel overwhelming or distracting for readers new to the series.

In summary, "Broken Beauty" is a decent read with its share of suspense and intrigue, making it worth exploring for those drawn to darker, mafia-themed romances. While it has its merits, it falls short of reaching its full potential, leaving readers longing for a more polished delivery of its captivating premise.

The dialouge in this book was stiff and awkward. The pacing was inconsistent; it dragged on when little was happening, and rushed through anything that seemed to be significant to the plot. The main character makes little progress on investigating a mystery that has, if the beginning of the book is to be believed, somewhat consumed her. There was also nothing particularly unique or memorable about these characters that tied them to the world the book was set in.

This book also concludes on a cliffhanger, so virtually none of the plot threads are tied up in the end. The mystery that the main character is investigating is seemingly resolved, as the answer she wanted was found, but any investigation take such a back seat that it feels uncanny and all too coinvent.

We all have that friend that recommends a book with glowing feedback, that we should know better than to believe, and ultimately only wanted someone to suffer as they did. It is okay to DNF and deny that friend their sadistic satisfaction. I didn't, but it's not too late for you :)

This duet had me intrigued from the start. The story is overladen with a historical mystery the heroine tries to solve all the while fighting off or maybe I should say naked fighting with four men who have far too close ties with her brother. Unlike the men who seem to steamroll situations the heroine is methodical in her ways and while I wish she stood up for herself more, I can say she’s an intriguing character. She’s certainly better at research and sniffing out clues than the guys are particularly when things are staring them in the face. A standard letdown as of late in RH does give us a heroine who lets lust cloud her mind and rule her judgement, it’s annoying at times but more so when the guys are acting like assholes or treating her like shit. Between the jealous she bitches and the guys mood swings I do wish the book was a bit shorter. Nonetheless the end has me wanting answers and have hopes the heroine can save the day and solve the mystery.

Great premise, terrible execution

TikTok fail. This could have been an interesting story but instead it’s rushed and disjointed. Four grown men in love/obsessed with a college freshman. First red flag. She’s a the goth version of the “glasses and overalls” weird trope. Nothing special, but at random refers to her lady’s bits as if they are her alter ego. It has so many plot lines and povs, with the most shallow character development. I have no idea how anyone could enjoy this. I found the spice cringey and forced. Witchy lore, hidden treasure, mafia, occult, professor/student, age gap, pain kink? Innocent yet not. Terrible. It tried to do too much. Jumped the shark and was mutilated. DNF 83% I couldn’t be bothered to finish.

ONLY BOOK ONE AND CLIFFHANGER ENDING!!!

I am so frustrated with this book/author! 70% in and I realized there's no way this book could end without it being rushed. There were too many unanswered questions, too much 'relationship' to develop to squeeze in the last 30%. So I checked the end of the book to make sure it wasn't a series...and the first sentence I read is the author saying 'Apologies for leaving you on a cliffy'. What?! Why doesn't it say book 1 of...whatever??? I never read series based on one 'couple' until they're finished. This book hasn't been out even a month so who knows when or if the series will be finished. I dnf and won't read anymore by this author.

18% of the way in and no mention of treasure. I had to go back to read the “about this book” blurb twice to make sure I was reading the correct book about treasure and mobsters. Conflict already between the guys who are supposed to be the love interests and none of them on the same page? No thanks. I like my men calm, confident, and deviant not this whiney, playacting “psycho” BS.

This is not a sweet romance with a tidy happily ever after, but it is an intense college bully romance with occult themes and mafia murderers running rampant throughout it. The spice is of the charts steamy boarding on abusive...ok, not really boarding, more like hopping over the line and back. Sadistic tendencies are all over this one so if you have trigger issues, then be warned and just don't read this book or the first one in the series. This one ends on a cliffhanger as the series is supposed to wrap up in the 3rd book that I will be anxiously awaiting as I need to know how the author is going to end this one!

The tension and the banter is so good. So sad I can’t read the next one right now.

Oh, wow! This book was unlike anything I’ve read before and I loved it! It’s a gothic dark romance with mafia ties, but the mafia is really in the background. There’s paranormal in it…not fantasy paranormal, but paranormal as in witches, ghost, seances. There’s also treasure hunting! This book was just different altogether. I can’t wait to jump into the next book to see what happens next. This is my 1st book by this author. I had never heard of her before, and I’m so glad I came across this book yesterday. I will definitely be reading her other books. Although, this one has set the bar pretty high. The suspense is killing me! Looks like I won’t be going to sleep anytime soon!

This was a good read but I don't know how I feel about the cliffhanger. I couldn't put this down. It was written so well but I did have questions
