Jaded is the first book in the Rock Star trilogy.

.I'm Scarlett Ryan.

Yes, THAT Scarlett Ryan.

I live an extraordinary life: millionaire rock star, owner of exotic cars, pictures of me in every magazine, millions of fans, and a name that is recognized world wide. It's supposed to be my dream come true. But, my life IS a fantasy, and I want real. I want exciting. I want ... NORMAL. So, I moved from California to Florida, hoping to obtain some normalcy. Instead I find...

Stephan Montgomery.

He's an arrogant jerk. Seriously, I hate him. I swear if he tells me one more blonde joke, I will punch him ... again ... Unfortunately I can't stop thinking about him, or his gorgeous green eyes. Trust me, I know that he's bad for me. If only my heart would listen.

I also find out that my parents have kept a LIFE CHANGING secret from me. I need to know the truth.

The harder I strive for normal, the stranger things seem to get.

3.5 Stars!!

This book needs A LOT OF EDITING. But I still enjoyed it. Waiting for the second book. I hope its better in that department.
The story, plot and stuff of this book is really amazing and catchy.

I liked Scarlet, but the way the book was written, she seemed a tiny bit immature; like in the dialogue wise department. The book should have been detailed with more emotions. It would totally get a 4.5 from me then. But none the less, I still liked it a lot.

I liked all the characters, can't wait to see what happens next with all their lives!! *excited*

I don't think I've read about many rockstar chicks, so it was refreshing. :D

This book doesn't have a cliffy as such, just a continuation type ending. :)

Series Review of Jaded (Book #1) and Faded (Book #2) in the Rock Star Trilogy - 4.5 Stars!

Let me start by saying that I was originally only going to review Jaded (Book #1) for this blog tour. However, after finishing the book in almost one sitting I immediately contacted Ms. Amare and begged her to send me the ARC for Faded (Book #2)! Thankfully she was very accommodating.

This is the story of 19 year old Scarlett Ryan, "the hottest thing on the music scene". I guess you could equate her to Britney Spears, before she went wild, or the female version of Justin Bieber. She has been a rock star since she was 15, and managed by her overbearing father. She needs a break and decides that she wants to finish her senior year of high school and re-evaluate her life. This brings her to Hope, Florida, where she meets Ethan and his step brother Stephan, neighbors and fellow students.

Ethan becomes Scarlett's good friend and lunch table partner, while Stephan becomes much more. They start to develop a relationship, but Scarlett refuses to sleep with him until they are in love. The problem is that Stephan wont say the "L" word until he meets the woman he's going to marry, and Scarlett won't say the "L" word until he says it first. Let's face it though, they are head over heals for each other, but too afraid to acknowledge it.

What I love about Scarlett is that she tries so hard, but makes you laugh instead.
"Ok, ok, I know what you're thinking. But I'm not a slut. The fact is, I've only had sex with like 10 guys, and I can remember every one of their names. Well, except that one guy, but I was really drunk and he doesn't count."
If having sex with 10 guys by the time you're 19 is not a slut, then I'm practically a virgin - with 2 kids! She comes off at times as naive, flighty and insensitive in Jaded, but really develops in Faded as she comes into her own.

There are 3 major plot lines involving the characters, but I don't want to spoil it. This is the crux of the story - I will only say that 3 family secrets are divulged in Jaded (Book #1), and are dealt with in more detail in Faded (Book #2). You will have to read the series to find out ;)

Overall, the books flowed so well. Instead of long, detailed chapters, the Author writes as if they are diary entries. Each "chapter" is a different time of day and typically only a page long. The reader is not bogged down in details, but instead moved along at a nice pace.

I would classify this series under Mature YA or NA. There is no sex in the books, but it is most definitely spoken about and often too. There are also characters in the book that are older and mature themes, so don't think that it's a young adult high school book - far from it! This book rocked and I can't wait to read Hated (Book #3)!

ARC kindly provided by the Author for an honest review.

I loved this book! When I saw the opportunity to beta read it I put my name in and when I was picked I was very excited! Jaded had amazing characters and a fun plot! It isn't your average rock star book as the main character is a female rock star and to be honest this is the first book that I have ever read with a female rock star as the main character and I have to say that I really enjoyed it! I really enjoyed that the author threw in some secrets and made some things happen that I wasn't expecting to happen in the book at all! She added twists in the book that left me pretty excited to find out what was going to happen next and how the twists were going to develop! The pace of the book was also perfect and I didn't lose interest once! The only bad thing I can say about this book is the chapter lengths! They were pretty short and I can sort of understand why as they were timed and dated but I found myself really getting into a scene and then it would end and move onto later on in the day or the next day! This is the only bad thing I can say about this book and I don't even know if it is a bad thing to be honest as it may just be a personal preference! The characters were amazing! Scarlett was the main character and I loved her! I loved how down to earth she was and how much she didn't really care about the amount of money she had! She was also determined to do what she wanted instead of being told what to do all the time by her parents and her record company! I adored her humorous attitude and her sarcasm! Stephan was the love interest of Scarlett and I loved him as well! I loved that he fell in love with Scarlett and not rock star Scarlett! He was funny and hot so I can completely see why him and Scarlett clicked! Scarlett and Stephan's relationship development was perfect! It went at the right pace to be really sweet and I also loved the witty banter between them as a couple! I really enjoyed the rest of the characters as well! The ending was so sad! I cried at it as it was just so heart-breaking and I really wasn't expecting it! I really felt sorry for Scarlett! I am really looking forward to the next book in this series as Jaded left it at an amazing ending that has left me begging for the next book! I also love the cover and I think that the girl on the front really represents Scarlett! Big thank you Mercy for letting me beta read Jaded for her!

4 - 4.5 stars!!!

Totally and completely unexpected! Holy wowzers.

Let me first say that I in no way relate to high school romance, but something about this book drew me in from the very beginning.

Scarlett Ryan is suffocating in her rock star world, being run over by her manager/father. She wants a break, and decides to take one regardless of her fathers opinion. Relocating to Hope, Florida and enrolling in the local high school to finish out her senior year are really the only plans she has.

Cue meeting Ethan with the Thor eyes, hero capabilities and Scar is feeling more relaxed in her choice to live a normal life.

Right away

And then it only gets worse!

Enter Stephan and

I'm about to explode from the magnetism between Scar and Stephan. It's angsty and funny but oh so

I'm thrown though because I have no idea about the history of these two seemingly normal guys. When it comes to the forefront, it's a mess of twisted love affairs and car crash scenarios, school rumors, heart ache and then ultimately love between two adults in their lives, that really give you an ache and make you want to hold on to Stephan more and more.
Another shocker hits Scarlett head on and you can practically see her falling over from the WHAT THE FUCK news. It's almost crushing but so damn relieving to know that she now has someone in her life that means something to her.

Scar and Stephan continue to build their relationship and like any normal high school dating scene, they have their moments of fall outs and bliss. It's a beautiful process to watch and see how each of them grows into it.

Disaster strikes in the form of heart wrenching pain

And within pages you're left with a hell of a cliffhanger. But, don't worry, Mercy is releasing FADED soon!

I almost felt like I was re living my own high school relationship. Don't get me wrong, it was never perfect, but I felt the fight in both Scar and Stephan and it reminded me of a time that was almost freeing that at times it really was perfect.

The story of Scarlett and Stephan is something to enjoy. There is no steamy sex scene's in this book, but even without them, you can feel the temperature changes when the two of them are together. Jaded is definitely a book I recommend.

My cast:

Scarlett

Stephan

Ethan

This book had me laughing as soon as I started reading, Scarlett for some reason absolutely reminds me of Ashley Tisdale.. When she was in High School Musical. She's basically a huge pop star trying to finish high school normally. Her first day of school will have you in stitches.
This story is amusing and quirky. I admit I had reservations about it. Most of the reviews I'd been ask to read lately were erotica which by now you all know I'm not a big fan of. It was very very refreshing to get to dive into this one. It just made me smile for the most part. The only thing that irked me a little were the titles of the chapters. They were just lines in the chapter. But that's just a pet peeve of mine. There are a couple of wrong words scattered here and there but no actual errors. Writers tend to get lost in their work and placing the wrong word (which would inevitably change the meaning of a sentence) happens from time to time. The reader however will no problem understanding what is meant though, some may not even realize they're there at all.
While the story is quite quirky, not everything is sunshine and gumdrops. There are serious issues that more teenagers than most people are aware their kids are dealing with happening. Mercy has made this story realistic to the point that you the events that unfold good and bad will reach down deep into your very soul and take hold. I look forwarded to faded and the rest series to see how Scarlett grows and developes into the life she has chosen for herself and if she ever wakes up and see the effects some of her decisions have on other people.
I give this book 5 of 5 paws

So,i had to wait a few hours after i finished "Jaded" because i didn't know what to write! That was only because i liked the book,i liked the story and i wanted to write something good.Well, let's see.
I started reading Jaded thinking that the description was too awesome and i couldn't wait to know how the book really was.It was good and different in a good way. I won't lie that i wished some things were different, that's not new for me.Every time i read a book i wish that,so it's pretty normal.

This was Scarlett Ryan's story,a rock star who needed a break from everything. After so many years doing what she was told,Scarlett was determined to finish high school and live a normal life for a little while. But that was a little too hard..
I admit that in a way Scarlett was annoying-just a little, mainly when she talked about herself as if she was the only important person in the world.I understand that, she was rock star and that's what rock stars do.Well, that's how i see it.Anyway.And sometimes i liked the way she was trying to help her friends,Ethan mainly, and of course Stephan. Two boys who received exactly what they didn't expect: a rock star on their heads.Damn..
Well, from the beginning i liked they way Scarlett and Stephan reacted when they were in the same place. At first it was a little odd,but from there..Let's just say things got better.
Stephan was my favorite guy from this book. His attitude made me laugh and smile. He wasn't always good, but that's what i liked about him.A bad boy attitude?Yeah.

This was Scarlett's chance to have something normal, but what she didn't know was that there was a secret that nobody knew.A secret that will change her life,at first in a good way,but sometimes things turn out to be a little more complicated and that's when Scarlett once again does the one thing she thinks is good:she left the people who loved her for who she was,not the rock star.

Seriously, the end was exactly what i didn't like.It wasn't bad,if i don't count the fact that Scarlett did what she thought was good for everyone else,i can say that it was something that a lot of people do.The do things because they think it is better for the people they love, but my question:what about them? What about Scarlett's feelings?Yikes.

The characters were pretty good, especially Ethan,Stephan,Bridgett, Alec and Scarlett.Yeah, only them, cause they were the only ones who made me laugh and smile. They were the ones who made this story interesting and fun.
Honestly,i can't wait to read the next book. When it comes to stories like this one i always hope that something good happens next. And after everything that happened in this book there has to be something good for Scarlett and Stephan in the next book!Pretty please?

Original review on Gabic Reads. Thanks to the author for providing an ARC.

I adored this book. Mercy Amare wrote Scarlet's personality perfectly. She was egotistical, yet kind, caring, and loving. There also a few times where she kinda reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence. This scene for example:

"Guys, I'm human. I shit too..." After a short pause, I ask, "Am I allowed to say shit?" Silence is all that answers. "Anyways, ..."

I could totally see Jennifer saying. Like when she said this at the Oscars:

Mercy also threw in several twists that I wasn't expecting. I don't know who could have seen those coming. It kept me on the edge of seat to learn what happened next.

Oh my gosh, Stephan. I didn't like him a lot at the beginning of the book. But, like Scarlet, I slowly fell for him. He was daring and sweet and snarky and a gentleman. He was perfect for Scarlet!!!!

Seriously, guys. I need Faded RIGHT NOW!!!! I can't wait to see how Scarlet's overcomes the obstacles that have been thrown at her. My heart broke just a little at the end of Jaded. There are many things I can't wait to see in Faded (Rock Star #2), like Scar's confrontation of her parents, and other stuff I don't want to say because it'll ruin the surprise. I also can't wait to see more of some of the supporting characters, like Alec, Mr. and Mrs. Ryan, and Stacy.

In my opinion, this is Mercy's best work! It had me at the end of my seat waiting for what was going to happen next. Things just kept coming out of left field and it just all fit together. The first book in the Rock Star Trilogy ROCKED! <
A brief summary of the book, Tess style: Scarlett is a rock star that is ready to get out of the spotlight for a little while so that she can live a normal life. She also needs a break so she can remember why she loves music and wanted to do this rock star thing in the first place. Enter the hotness with green eyes, dimples, a sexy smile, and snarky attitude. Life throws LOTS of curveballs!

i LOVE all the characters in this book! Scarlett, Stephan, Ethan, Mona, Bridgett, Stacey, Alec, and Bob. They are all so dynamic (well maybe not Bob) and well developed. They all have a very distinct personality and it makes for very interesting situations in the book! All of them are like puzzle pieces that have to be put together to make the book complete. They make the book so much more than a famous artist trying to live a normal life.

I think THE MORE SHE TRIES TO BE NORMAL THE CRAZIER HER LIFE GETS! Seriously I can't tell you enough how much this book had me guessing and let me tell you I didn't guess one thing RIGHT! You have to read it to understand all of this because there is no way I'm spoiling any surprises!

Stephan is my new book boyfriend. I couldn't help but SWOOOOON at some of the stuff he says! By the way the guy I described ^up^there^ is HIM! YUMMY SEXINESS!

THE ENDING GAH! It's torturous! I wanted to reach in the book and slap Scarlett! Ugh Come on *bangs head against wall until the release of Faded*!

If you like contemporary romance YA/NA, I think you'll love this! It's something different, fun and definitely leaves you needing more!

Now I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this book. This was the first book by Mercy Amare that I have ever read, and this book has made me a fan of her writing. Jaded is a story about Scarlett, a rock star who appears to have it all yet is sadly lacking in so many ways. Scarlett knows that she is lacking and is searching for a life. This book will suck you in! You will scream with frustration at the life Scarlett has lived. You will ache for a young girl who has missed out on so many "normal" things. And you will laugh and smile as she shows her true self.

This book is a book about growth. And boy does Scarlett grow during this book. The ending, is... well I won't go into any details, but needless to say if book 2 wasn't readily available to me I would have screamed in frustration and probably contacted the Author to harass her into getting book 2 into my hands as soon as possible. As you know I am NOT known for my patience when it comes to series's.

That all being said, Character Creation is tremendous and the characters are not only strongly written but endearing. You will find yourself attached to Scarlett and to "Thor" *evil grin* you will have to read the book to find out about him. And we must not forget the love interest Stephan. The wit and sarcasm in this book will keep you laughing out loud.

WARNING: DO NOT READ AT NIGHT IN BED NEXT TO YOUR HUSBAND! YOU WILL GET YELLED AT!

Yeah I found out the hard way, after waking him up laughing at some of the things that Stephan or Scarlett say or do. And needless to say the ending of this book had me yelling which of course woke up the bear and well it wasn't a pretty sight, but it was well worth it!

Details/Disclaimer: Review copy was provided for me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Something about this book just really called out to me. All of the characters were absolutely amazing and easy to love. Everyone has their own secrets that brings them all to life. I was completely hooked into this story - quickly.

The flow of the book was great. I love how it wasn't separated in chapters, instead it was done by days/times. It made it a little more unique and made it easier to feel as if I were a part of the story.

One of the best aspects about this book (to me) was the fact that although she's a rock star, she's not a whore! So many of the rock romances see like they are more into hot scenes than an actual story. This book has an actual story, a heartbreaking and loving story. I found it impressive that a rock romance wasn't depending upon sex to be a great story. Kudos to the author!!

This book was riddled with heartbreak, loss and love. There's so many different things I want to comment on, but it's so hard without doing any spoilers. The ending was tearful, and I just wanted to reach through my kindle and smack Scarlett. I understood why she did what she did, but it definitely didn't make me happy.

After reading this book, you definitely want to read book two IMMEDIATELY. Luckily, I just happen to have the ARC of Faded on standby for such an occasion. ;)

If you like rock romances or YA/NA, definitely read this book. Just be prepared to be lusting after book two.

Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book for honest review.

I'm a fan of these type of books so it is so easy to like Scarlett. She is the ultimate! Her parents knew she was talented and her career took off by the time she was 15. She has recorded 4 albums and is already on her way to setting records in the business. She felt like she wanted to go and finish school in person. So she tells everyone she wants to experience her senior year. Well that doesn't go over so good but at 19 she can do what she wants. So she tells her Manager Dad to kiss off and she leaves for Hope, Florida. She has a home there and within a week she is on her way to NORMAL.

Well Scarlett Ryan is a millionaire rock star who is known all over. It's a very interesting take in school and how she sees the people who are now her peers. Some recognize her but some are confused and don't think it is her, the star. The first people she meets are half-brothers Stephan and Ethan. I love Stephan Montgomery. He's a little full of himself and is not intimidated by Scarlett. He teases her calling her Blondie, but you can see he is not as tough as he appears. She can't stop thinking about him or the fact that she never really had a boyfriend. Their relationship is cute and you WILL enjoy it.

What I loved was that the message get a diploma. Then I loved how grounded she was. She realizes that she has screwed up, not giving things away, but she uses it as a learning experience. I appreciate that the author doesn't make it a story of excess. It is about a true talent, musical genius. What are you waiting for? go read it!

In my opinion Mercy really nailed this one, definitely ★★★★★!!!!!
This book was AWESOME and I cant wait for Faded!!!!!

I really enjoyed this book! I loved Scarlett's character. She was not your typical girl, always looking for Mr Right. In fact she was just simply trying to live a normal life away from her life as a rock star. Scarlett is young and successful with her music and wanted to live life away from the stage. When she decides to take a break from her music, so she can remember why she loves it, Scarlett meets Mr. Hotness aka Stephan!!! Stephan is a snarky, bad boy with the most perfect green eyes and smile and he gets Scarlett’s attention right away!!!! Their relationship is sweet and fun. I loved the fact that Stephan liked Scarlett for her and not her money or rock star status.

This book had a great plot and I really enjoyed it. The only thing I will say is that I didn't really care for the jump start in the beginning of the book, but after I got further into it, it didn’t bother me at all. Actually, I appreciated it more for the fact that it didn’t take me long to fall in love with these characters!!!!! I enjoyed everything about these characters!

This book is sweet, romantic and full of twist and turns that I had no clue were even coming. I'm left on a cliffhanger high and am really anxious to read the next book!! I need Faded now!!!!!!

Thank you, Mercy, for giving me this opportunity to read your book! It was AWESOME!!

Scarlett is known worldwide; she is a singer who wants to finish high school just like normal people her age does. Her father and manager is hell bent on having her continue with her singing career and making money and she has a mom who rarely speaks to her. Scarlett decides to take things in her own hands and move to Florida to finish school without the pressure of her dad and business. While Scarlett is searching for her sister she hasn’t heard from or seen in years, she discovers she has been searching for more than one person. She wants nothing more than to connect/reconnect with those she has lost and is willing to do what she needs to do to make that happen. Things are finally going great but suddenly Scarlett’s love and kindness is thrown in her face and hurt her in more ways than one.
Jaded is a great read. It ends with a cliff hanger that makes you want to know what happens to everything left unanswered in book one. It definitely leaves you wondering how things will turn out for everyone. This book will make you smile and is full of drama and surprises you won’t see coming. You will never have a dull moment while reading this book. I finished the book in one day and I look forward to reading the second book in the series, I cannot wait to see what happens.

The concept to this book is unique. I liked the thought of her going back to high school. Mercy took a cool idea and ran with it. She succeeded too.

I wish her character wasn't as selfish, but she was still interesting. Having to adjust to such a big change is hard and the author does a good job showing her struggles.

I was also surprised with all the twists the book took. There were many surprises to keep me on my toes. I was never sure what was going to happen. It wasn't predictable.

The characters were fun too. There was great character development and each person had their own sense of uniqueness. Stephan=hot!!!!

Overall this was a fun read. It falls somewhere between young adult and new adult. I'm not quite sure what category a 19 year old in high school goes in. I gave this book four stars for being an all around good read!

This book has love and laughter.... What more could you ask for?

Jaded is a book about a young female rockstar named Scarlett. She decides to take a break from her crazy life and moves to FL to attend High School. Her first day she meets a gorgeous set of brothers and starts to fall head over heels for bad boy Stephan. Through this book Scarlett deals with first time love, trying to get along with the girls at school, discovering a family secret, and trying to find her missing sister. I will say though, the ending is a killer! You will be craving book 2!

I felt the Author did a great job writing a unique storyline with just the right amount of details. There were twists in the book that kept you guessing and the characters were very relatable. I would recommend this book to all readers!!

10*s. I received an eARC copy of this book directly from the author in return for an honest review.

This book is intriguing, entertaining, and a very fast paced read!! I love Scarlett and her way of wanting and craving to fit in and be normal. The author knows how to capture the life of a teenager and keeps you sucked in from beginning to end. I am really anxious to read more from this author. This author is going to be the big Indie Author for teens/YA. This is a MUST read that will keep you craving for more and will hit your music side. I feel like I could relate with the character and she actually felt real. Thank you, Mercy Amare, for this realistically amazing story that I love and can't wait to read more of your work!!

I really liked this book (well except for the ending it kind of made me sad and pissed me off at the same time--no spoilers tho) Jaded flowed really well and I really liked the characters especially Stephan because he's such a dork and brat but an adorable one. Scarlett is a 19 year old pop star living in California, but moved to florida to finish her senior year and re-evaluate her life. But she gets a few surprises along the way.

I had expected this book to be just another teen girl romance, but I was pleasantly surprised. The book is told in first person present tense so immediately I felt pulled in to the story, like it was unfolding around me. The author uses just the right combination of humor and tears. and there will be tears; have a box of tissues handy. The main character, Scarlett, has the perfect, over-the-top dramatic reactions that high school girls can easily identify with.

Jaded was so good! I started it late one night and then read a lot of it school during class the following day because it was so good and I could not put it down. I really like Scarlett. The way that she wants to help and protect others, is just amazing. The ending was a little sad and hanging (not too much though).

This was a really good book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. It was a quick read that seemed like it went too fast. So much was happening at once.
It wasn't 5 complete stars because of how many times we were reminded (by her) of how rich and famous she was... I mean, we get it.
And the end, I can't wait to see what she chooses.

I really wasn't expecting such a substantial book when I bought this. I thought it would be a quick and conclusive read with a bit of steamy romance and some quick HEA resolution, but this was so much more. I can't wait for the next one.

I really like this book. Of course a few twists I didn't see coming.
