Follow Reena as she struggles to cope with brutal violence, loss, betrayal, excessively tough demands made of her as the daughter of the Chieftain and the unwanted attention of a monster.
Due to huge demand The Lexian Chronicles is finally available as an omnibus edition collecting all twelve issues, concept and cover art, and never-before-seen commissioned paintings of the highest quality.
This review is actually for Lexian Chronicles vol.2, though it does not seem to be on Goodreads. There are some interesting twists in the last chapter but then things end really abruptly....hopefully the novel continues this story (and doesn't also end with "to be continued") since there hasn't been any more comics published!
Tension builds between the tribes and Phoenix princess Reena is caught in the middle. She is betrothed to the foul prince of the Leopard tribe against her wishes but feels it is her duty to protect her people so reluctantly agrees. I give this 3 out of 5 stars for the story, which was just OK in my opinion. Not a bad read but not fantastic by any means. Inaki Miranda's art is wonderful and she illustrates the story very vividly. If rating on Miranda's art alone I'd give The Lexian Chronicles 4 out of 5 stars. Ryan Stegman's pencils on issue 8 kind of threw me for a loop. His art isn't bad, per se, but it doesn't fit well with Miranda's. The styles contradict each other and having the art change drastically for one issue seemed pointless. I'd like to rate this 3.5 stars, but since that isn't an option I give it 3.
I picked this up from a Groupee deal this week. It was OK.
The art: It was 900% drawn by a male. The over glorification of the unreal female and male bodies... SO many muscles, such large boobs, such un-supportive unrealistic clothing. The details were gorgeous, the artist was def trained and smart... I just found the bodies stupidly dis-proportioned.
The plot: That dialog, so unrealistic. I don't even LIKE memorizing tropes and this comic was so overflowing with them it could have been called 'Barbarian girl the trope comic' or 'We tried to be feminist and make a strong character and failed' or 'I have never met a real women in my life'.
