(SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

After reading the first book in this series I was genuinely left intrigued. The mentions of the cirque de solei, Kats character, the area in which the story is set, Mordecai, her mother and fathers mysterious deaths, the mystery of the wolves, everything had a dark creepiness to it and originality (maybe not the werewolf twist but still, everything else). Anyway, the second book disappointed me massively. The whole thing was essentially Kat talking about how she wanted to run away all the time. It made her character more unlikable than realistic and I didn't feel sympathy for her. I felt that the second book should have developed the characters and their relationships more, leading off from the first book. I felt no real elation when Trick and Kat finally end up together in this final installment and I felt no real pangs of sorrow when Justin was killed by his brother. That was mainly because Trick and Justin would randomly show up for brief moments, they would have a short conversation with Kat which would instantly start some kind of sexual tension, and then they would strop off having had some kind of silent or random argument. Apart from the snow ball fight with Trick and their short venture into the wolf center and the training between her and Justin, there was no real development between the characters AT ALL. If Justin was the one who bit Kat, there needed to be something about him. A strange guilt in his eyes, an odd connection between them, something. But no, just randomly at the end, it was him. He didn't act suspiciously when she first meets Lee, he doesn't get defensive whenever she brings up she was bit, nothing. It didn't take me off guard and I didn't suck in a breath and shout "NO WAY!" It just...didn't make sense and felt a bit anti climactic. The only real thing you knew about Justin was he lived with his uncle, his brother had down syndrome, and he was engaged to Lucy. I guess in some conversations concerning his uncle and after she becomes alpha you get some sense of his wolf reactions but...I just felt nothing. As soon as you felt like something, anything was about to happen in this series, some kind of deeper look into a character or a relationship development...she ran back to her car or the cabin or whatever. In the second book, Cordelia constantly just randomly rings up and says "look for the mine" which Kat seemingly makes no real effort to do. I constantly felt like Cordelia was some kind of evil character and she was going to back stab Kat, mainly because there was so little development of her character and relationship to Kat I wasnt sure how I was supposed to feel about her. Yes in the first book they become friends and she helps Kat etc and even protects her, but that is probably why the first book will remain my favourite out of the trilogy. It is the only one that has depth. Why was her evil wolfy uncle even in the series? He lures her all the way to the center with literally...a trail (I couldn't help but think of family guy: "oohhh a piece of candy...oohhh a piece of candy....oohh a piece of candy." I mean SERIOUSLY? She follows the random trail of silver, and there is a pile of all the stuff AND the painting which her uncle has seemingly just left there for months, and then he says some random stuff about her grandfather which she already knew, and just when you think DEPTH...FINALLY SOME DEPTH...she runs back to her car ¬___¬ and thats IT!!!! Like...what was the point!?!?!?!? He killed some girls and bla bla. It added nothing. How did her mother know her father was a werewolf and was bitten by one? Why was her grandfather the Hellhound? Did her grandmother know? Does being the Hellhound torture him? Does he love it, hate it? Whats it like? How did it effect his life? Why did he even have kids? Has he always been the Hellhound or were his ancestors the Hellhound before him? Oh and what explained the whole father being a werewolf thing? A random short story at the end about her grandfather wiping out some guys and the survivors taking revenge. Well...why? Wouldnt they be terrified of the Hellhounds wrath? Why did they bother? Why not kill him? Who actually were they? What happened to the police detective?

Conclusion: Everything was left to be revealed or developed at the very last second when it was too late to really make them add anything to the story. I feel like maybe she should have found the mine and found out who her grandfather was in the second book or something. It would have made the story develop more consistently and made the story more interesting. I feel like this book did a better job than the second, but it still felt rushed, sporadic, like it lacked flow. Normally when you read a book series everything progressively comes together, which normally raises a few more questions. Suspicions are raised, the puzzle slowly forms, you grow affection towards the characters. I didn't get that from these books unfortunately. When she went to the cirque de solei finally with her pap and Trick I thought "right, now their relationship will grow and something will develop between the main and these two very mysterious other characters." She gets there, she watches the show and freaks out, they leave. Nothing. And that very disappointing side story pretty much sums up the whole series. I did enjoy reading these stories because there was some real originality in them, but ultimately I was left craving for more substance.

Then ending was great, everything got answered there was nothing left unanswered and that's the way these type of books make it worth it.

Some of the things I managed to guess but some came as a surprise, I recommend the series to all werewolf lovers, it's epic, it has action, it has romance and it makes you question and wonder how it will end.

Just brilliant.

‘Who do you run to?’

The final instalment tot he Wolfspring Chronicles

Katelyn faces her biggest dilemma yet - how to stop the Fenner and Gaudin packs from fighting before the Hell Hound and the Hounds of God destroy them all.

We finally learn who the Hell Hound is, who has been speaking to Katelyn telepathically and just who bit her.

I hated this book, it was so boring and I just wanted to put it down but I couldn't because the slightest sliver of curiosity kept me reading just to see what happened in the ending.

So, after 7 years, I finally was able to find a copy of the last Wolf Springs Chronicles on Amazon.co.uk and complete the series. Yay! The last novel, Hot Blooded, focused on Katelyn’s adaption to pack life. This novel focused on Katelyn’s growth as a war rages on around her and Cordelia. And all the questions surround all the love triangles, the hidden mine, the McBrides, and the Hellhound are answered.

The pace of the story line is rather fast. I’m a slow reader to begin with, yet even so, I didn’t feel I had enough time to absorb one event/discovery before the next. And the few times there was a pause, there was too much teenage angst to process what was happening. However, it did make the novel very hard to put down.

Katelyn is still very self-absorbed throughout this novel, though I’m proud to say I did see some growth in her character, this time round. Seems having the Hounds of God put more responsibility on her shoulders truly motivated her to think beyond herself. Though, there are still plenty of times where she attempts to run away from her problems rather than face them. And fortunately, fate didn’t let her.

***Note: the next paragraph contains a few spoilers. If you would like to skip, continue to the final paragraph.***

All in all, though the ending was disappointing, I did enjoy the adventure along the way. If you get the chance to pick it up, I recommend the series.

For some reason I didn't read this when it first became available. If I remember correctly, I read the first two from the library but they didn't initially have this one. I remember requesting that they get it but then when they did, I never went and picked it up. I think that by the time it was available I had moved on to other series and the urge wasn't as strong. However, I was going through my "to read" shelf the other day and looking at the highest rated books to figure out what I should pick up at the library on my next trip and realized I'd never finished this series.

While I can't say that reading this book was cumbersome, and while I was glad to have a conclusion to the story, I felt that the conclusion was sort of anticlimactic. This is another one of those series that had the ability to be great, but fell short. There wasn't anything bad about it really, there just wasn't anything great. With such a great premise, it could have been really really good. The second book was actually the best book of the series, full of more drama and suspense than either of the others, but it just sort of petered out after that. The characters never really developed much. It just wasn't a rich story. I'm glad I finished the series, but I can't really give it a very good rating.

A fun, exciting read. While the writing in this series has never been spectacular and the world building is mediocre at best, this was still a satisfying ending to a cute trilogy. It was a slightly different take on werewolves with interesting characters. The MC is the usual special snowflake but her grandpa Mordecai, best friend Trick, and the crazy cult leader are great characters with good development throughout this last book. The hell hound story arc is interesting and new. It definitely added to the mystery of the story. All in all this series was a quick, fun read, not for people looking for incredible writing and depth.

A worthy ending to a series that I truly enjoyed, and I'm sad to be saying goodbye to.

The mystery that has been invading this series has been resolved, completely to my satisfaction, even if some of it was a little predictable.

If werewolves are something you enjoy, this should be right up your street :)

After finishing Hot Blooded, I had a TON of questions that I desperately needed answers to. I was really hoping to get the answers I wanted in Savage, and boy did I! The book was AMAZING!

Holder & Viguie really know how to test my willpower! They had so completely enamored with the story that I couldn’t wait to see how everything unfolded! I constantly had to stop myself from flipping to the last page! Through sheer force of will I was able to make it to the end without giving in and taking a peek! 😊

I’m so glad that I didn’t spoil the ending for myself, because it was AMAZING!!! There were several twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting! I was literally on the edge of my seat for the last half of the book! Katelyn’s journey was intense, entertaining, and full of surprises! I’m so happy with how everything in the story turned out, and that ALL my questions got answered!

I love this book, in it, Katelyn is such a badass. I love how she becomes alpha and takes charge and how she learns the truth about her father's death and that it was done to protect her and how the story is told about how she possibly got to be immune to silver. I love how even though it's his responsibility, Trick hesitates to kill Justin, who was the one killing people, and the werewolf who bit Kat and how in the end it was Jesse who killed Justin for what he did. I love how they joined the Fenner and Gaudin packs and how Kat and Trick end up together. I just love this book and the trilogy as a whole.

This series had twists and turns (in a good way) and this book was no exception.

I will say that the author(s) at least tried to offer a plausible explanation to the question I was asking myself throughout the series. I can't say I know how I feel about it but at least there was one. I was left feeling pretty good with how the story ended so this book (series) was a win for me.

I don't really like writing reviews because I never really know what to say. I did like this series and I'll end with that.

Strasne ma to iritovalo. A koniec uz bol docista domotany, ani mi nebol velmi po chuti. Sice sa to skoncilo ako som predpokladala, ale aj tak s koncom nie som spokojna. No nic...ako celok hodnotim pozitivne, ale uz by som to znova necitala.

Savage

This is the final book in this series. Kat has escaped from the war and has gotten back home. Later she finds out that Trick and her grandfather are Hellhounds. She herself becomes the alpha to the pack she was brought into. By the end she know who bit her and made her a werewolf and has merged all the packs in the area with herself as alpha of them all and her boyfriend is going to be the new Hellhound some day.

Možný spoiler!
Velký závěr trilogie. Ale skutečně tak velký?
Katelyn se konečně dozví, kdo zabil jejího otce a proč. Najde tajemný důl plný stříbra. A pozná pekelného psa a jeho učence. A aby toho nebylo málo - vypluje napovrch pravda o vraždách v okolí a o tom, kdo ji napadl.
Věci se konečně rozmotají, ale upřímně - čekala jsem to trochu více akčnější, když se tam toho tolik dělo.
Ale jinak se mi to líbilo. Povedená série.

LOVE IT

Wish there were more books to follow this series. I would love to find out what happened to "uncle" and how the 2 packs managed to merge, and maybe a possible love for Jesse and Cordelia?

An amazing ending to an amazing trilogy! I absolutely loved how different this series was, it’s unique compared to a lot of other werewolf books I’ve read and twists were something I hadn’t expected or saw coming.

Can’t wait to re read this in a few years come!

Definitely the best book in the series! Still a bit juvenile in my opinion. Alphas & Merging wouldn’t happen that easily, especially without a fight. (In this case a “real” fight). Also there being magical hell hounds, I feel like they should know when a werewolf had broken the law.

Although the series is flawed and predictable, I actually quite enjoyed it. YA fantasy has changed a lot in the last decade. For what it was and for the time it was written, it was entertaining enough to read once. No re-read value though.
