Guilty of nothing more than working too much - or so they say - Adam Stowe is dumped at a "wellness center" in the middle of nowhere by a couple of concerned colleagues. When he meets Lorraine, the beautiful and bewitching yoga instructor, his spirits start to lift, but once he discovers what a flighty fruitcake she is, they drop back down to subterranean levels.
For Lorraine Jameson, Luna Wellness Center was a beacon of solace when her life was falling apart, and she can't stand the way Adam's toxic energy is poisoning the peace. He embodies everything negative about the life she discarded eighteen months ago. Despite being fiercely attracted to the arrogant man, she's determined not to let Adam Stowe anywhere near her heart.
Adam and Lorraine couldn't be more unsuitable as a potential couple... so why is the universe so dead set on uniting these two?
The Karmic Connection is a different kind of love story with a cast of quirky characters and a mystical, magical New Age-y flavor.
Born and raised in the Heartland of America, Libby Mercer's adventurous spirit kicked in after graduating from high school and she's since lived in Boston, NYC and London. San Francisco is the city that she currently calls home. For several years, Libby worked in fashion -- first as a journalist and then as a shopkeeper, and for a while she dabbled in design. Fashioning a Romance was Libby's first published novel, followed by Unmasking Maya and The Karmic Connection. After taking a break from writing quirky romances to focus on various types of erotic stuff (under various pen names) Libby is back with another rom-com. How Meg West Was Won will be released on September 14, 2016.
Just something I want to point out about my list of favorite authors: apart from the first six, they are in totally random order. So many of these wonderful authors are also fabulous friends and I couldn't possibly arrange them by order of preference. The first six, however - being either deceased or women I've never met - I have no problem arranging this way. :-)
Nowadays, we are so immune to the high voltage sex in romance novels that we feel something's missing if it's not there. Author Libby Mercer is one of those talented writers who can write a romance without writing 'hot' and still keep the story charged with sexual tension and excitement.
THE KARMA CONNECTION is a novel set initially in the business world of Manhattan and ultimately in the quiet hills of Vermont. Libby's writing brings these two completely contrasting worlds vividly alive. I literally found myself enjoying the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of Luna Wellness Centre, a new age retreat house, as well as the excitement of the business world. In fairness, most of the story unfolds at the new age retreat centre, but that was quite okay.
Workaholic Adam is literally kidnapped at his desk and despatched to the Luna Wellness Centre with almost military precision by his employers. Once there, he bides his time until he can return to the business world. Frankly, he's unimpressed with the 'hippy dippy' types he encounters here. However, he's stopped in his tracks by the beautiful Lorraine, one of the Wellness Guides at Luna Wellness. The attraction between the pair is strong. But soon Adam will return to the cutthroat business world when his retreat is over and Lorraine never wants to go back there again. Does this couple have a future? The characters, Adam and Lorraine literally leapt off the page.
I found this novel fascinating as an exploration of the New Age culture and enjoyed reading about the contrast with the frantic pace of the modern world. I've learnt a lot about the new developments of the modern world from Libby Mercer's writing. I recommend this book and look forward to many more books from her in the future. THE KARMIC CONNECTION is a romance with a strong message - that it is possible to bring two worlds together. Which, of course, is exactly as it should be!
Adam Stowe workaholic is forced by his boss to take a holiday. Bundled into a car, he assumes he is going to a hotel. But when he arrives at the Luna Wellness centre, which is peopled by a bunch of weirdos he's furious.
With no phone or money, and stuck in the middle of nowhere, Adam is forced to suck it up. He doesn't believe in chakras and auras or meditation. It's all a bunch of nonsense. But there is Lorraine Jameson who works there she's beautiful, and Adam feels drawn to her, and it's not just because of her looks.
Lorraine has worked at the centre for the past eighteen months, after a life changing experience turned her world upside down. She's managed to find some peace in her life working alongside her collagues and the clients. That is till Adam arrives, and the connection between them is something that is messing with her head.
This is a fairly quick read, but the reader is not shortchanged. The story has very well developed characters, and a good storyline. I liked the interactions between Adam and Lorraine. The differences in their lifestyles and how that affected their relationship was well portrayed. Their tension and chemistry oozed off the page. The other characters certainly added to the story as well. All in all this is a very enjoyable read. ARC provided by the author.
Karma! Yes ladies karma is a word we often hear and all though not everyone believes in it, it still has all the magical elements to make a good romance in any setting.
This read is about Lorraine, she lost her way in life and ended up working as yoga instructor at Luna, an escape for people when life gets too much to handle. She reckons she has her life all planned out, she does not deserve happiness and instead just focuses on helping others find their way again.
Enter Mr I'll-knock-your-yoga-pose-right-out-of-you Adam ! Adam is there for a retreat but not by choice! But seeing Lorraine he reckons this could get fun, and so starts a journey of two people bound by karma and the universe to find their happy ever after.
The main characters of Adam and Lorraine were both somewhat similar to what I as reader am use to seeing in romance books yet at the same time very different.
Lorraine is weak but does not show it to the outside world and only a very close secondary character is able to pick up on it, but she is also a rather strange woman in the sense that she believes she does not deserve happiness.
Surly we all do and reading about a character that believes she does not was very different, yet enlightening I was rooting for this woman to find her way!
Adam was your average modern day man, he works hard, too hard but when forced to hit the road of recovery he turns into a very kind soul, with a very good heart, but he also has a very and I mean very quirky side and this made him different from your normal romance hero, but certainly in a good way.
The backdrop setting was delightful and so very calm , it was as if the author let me get rid of my own stress just as her characters are meant to do. I loved how the author let the calm and peace of Luna shine from the residents there to help others, by using it's tranquillity to transform the characters.
Dialogue wise this read was a hoot at some stages as the author incorporated some words that are certainly not heard everyday and it had me laughing out loud.
The book is one of self discovery and finding courage to go after your dreams and therefore also had deep emotional moments of friends talking and I mean really talking to get to the heart of matters.
The author did a wonderful job of showing that listening to someone can really make a difference and letting go of your doubts and fears can be the best decision of your life. I recommend this read for lovers of modern day romance with a different outlook at how people find their true love.
5/5 star review "Finding love along a road of recovery"
The Karmic Connection is not your ordinary romance novel. I recieved a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Adam Stowe is a workaholic whose boss exiles him to the Luna Wellness Center. Lorraine is a "wellness guide" at the center. Adam is doing what he has to do in order to make them think he is enlightening himself in order for him to be able to go home. Lorraine is doing everything in her power to disregard the attraction that she feels for him since it's obvious that he doesn't believe in the same things that she does.
I have never quite read a book like this. Libby Mercer has a unique style of writing romance novels that don't necessarily involve a whole lot of sexual situations. It's a refreshing idea and one that appeals to me. I absolutely loved this book and the characters in it. The characters are as unique as Mercer's style of writing. Even though the plot is centered around Adam and Lorraine, the minor characters are also very interesting and you also get there take on the happenings at the Luna Wellness Center. Overall, a very well written and very good read. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Libby Mercer has done it again - written a romantic comedy that manages to be incredibly sexy without even any sex scenes. The author just knows how to write chemistry between characters. I have now read all three of her light romances as well as the chick lit book she wrote under the Anna Garner name. This author is just incredibly talented and makes her stories seem so effortless although from the careful attention to details, character development and story arc, it is obvious that a lot of effort went into writing them. I thoroughly enjoyed The Karmic Connection. Finally, this book, along with the others, always reinforces my belief in true love and that everyone deserves and will get her happy ending. So, Libby, thank you for that.
When few days ago Libby asked me to review in GR The Karmic Connection I was pleased and surprised! I had this book in my amazon TRL even if I forgot to put it in here. I felt myself a sort of a karmic connection with her, you know? Getting to the heart of the matter, I think that Libby did a great job. It's not an easy task to balance a tender love story with wellness concepts and mix them up with a rational POV! Kudos. The story is light, sweet and Adam and Lorraine blossoming connection is charming. Reading this book I felt the impulse to stand up and unroll my yoga mat, but the story was too enthralling and I remained with my kindle (Even sitting in the lotus position ;P )
This past December I did a review for Unmasking Maya by Libby Mercer, a fun read about a creative artist that reinvents her life. About a month ago, Libby Mercer contacted me again for another book review and I was happy to oblige.
The cover reveal was posted on March 22, and tonight I'm honored to post the review of the book. In a word - LOVE!!!!
Lorraine Jameson is the picture of peace, the picture of health, the picture of beauty with long dark hair and eyes that beckon a person's trust; sincere and kind. She is the Yoga instructor at Luna Wellness Center, a place one goes to find peace and harmony, reconnect with their soul. Adam Stowe is her polar opposite - career obsessed, success obsessed, money obsessed, the very definition of a work-a-holic.
When Adam's boss decides that Adam has put in one too many hours (or hundreds, really) he basically kidnaps Adam and packs him off with a first class ticket to finding inner peace. Adam is livid, he wants nothing more than to break free of this hippie-dippie, yoga lovin', granola eatin', victory garden hell of a jail. But, much to Adam's dismay, he has to play nice or Celeste, the owner of Luna Wellness Center, won't give him a clean bill of health to return to the daily grind. Damnit!
Lucky for Adam, the Universe has other plans. Adam meets Lorraine, and he is captivated by her beauty, her strength, and her damn inner peace that no matter how many deep breaths he takes or yoga poses he tries to do, he simply cannot master the inner calm she seems to have.
However, Adam will soon learn that inner peace is often found through turmoil and Lorraine isn't exactly as she seems - but then again, are any of us really?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Libby Mercer has such a fantastic light, but thoughtful way of writing. I felt like I was walking through clouds, dancing with daisies, and sipping sunshine as I went through the days expectations of Luna Wellness Center. I'm ready to pack my bags and find one somewhere in TN. (Anyone know where one is?) The character of Lorraine captured me right from the start, and as I learned more about her I could really relate to her life, her battles, and her ability to press forward, to be positive. Adam took a little more time to grow on me, but as the ice melted from him, he found a place in my heart, too.
This novels certainly leans heavily towards the ideas of Gods and plans of the Universe, but I think there is merit in the idea that we can be one with nature and I don't think that renounces my firm belief in the Christian God. I believe they are many facets to the idea of spirituality and the way Mercer embraces them within the context of wellness made me feel at peace myself. I also have the sudden urge to mix lavender and vanilla scents for clarity and relaxation.
I think this is a perfect Spring time read. It lends itself to beginning again, finding a new and better self. And that's often the symbolic nature of Spring - shedding the old so the fresh and tender side of life can emerge after the ice melts and the haze of winter fades. I recommend picking up this book!

About Libby Mercer:
Born and raised in the Midwest, Libby Mercer's adventurous spirit kicked in after graduating from high school and she's since lived in Boston, NYC and London. San Francisco is the city that she currently calls home. For several years, Libby worked in fashion -- first as a journalist and then as a shopkeeper, and for a while she dabbled in design. Fashioning a Romance was Libby's first published novel and Unmasking Maya is her second. Check out Libby's blog here: http://libby-mercer.blogspot.com/
The female protagonist is a little crunchy (OK, more than a little – there’s talk of auras and chakras!) and our male protagonist is a serious workaholic who doesn’t know how to take a break. Adam is essentially kidnapped by his boss and dumped at a Wellness Center for a forced vacation (hello, Boss, if you’re reading this – you can totally do this to me!). My biggest challenge was over-identifying with the two characters – The Crunchy and The Workaholic. If I had to describe myself, it would be a crunchy-workaholic reader!
Lorraine is the heroine. She hasn’t been working at the Center for long, but when Adam is dropped there unwillingly, the sparks truly fly from the moment they meet. Is it kismet? Not really! It’s clear from the get-go that they are very different people, from different worlds…or perhaps they have more in common than they think. They both have interesting (if not slightly brief) backstories – case in point, Lorraine used to have a very surprising career! The numerous secondary characters also have unique reasons for being at the Center, and everyone’s stories are a great reminder that things aren’t always as they seem. Hello, we all know not to judge a book by its cover, right? :)
The story advances quickly through witty banter, primarily between Crunchy Lorraine and Workaholic Adam, but there are some great interactions between the additional characters as well. At first, Adam seems so into work that he comes off as super narcissistic. But then there’s a conversation between Adam and a guest who’s not happy with her appearance. It’s that and his interactions with other guests that help Adam remember he’s not a working robot, but a human.
I enjoyed the light, easily digestible story itself but actually found it to be too short for my liking. I think the bulk of it took place in 5–7 days. I am lucky to get my legs shaved more than once in that timeframe, let alone go through everything these characters did! (Wait, was that TMI? Moving on…) I would have liked to see it take longer – or have the backstories built out a little more, maybe additional, deeper subplots for some of the secondary characters – but I understand why it had to take place during a short timeframe. It’s not like the characters could stay at the Wellness Center forever!
Lastly, here’s my absolute favorite quote that I keep coming back to:
But acknowledging the fear isn’t going to change anything. Sometimes we have to yield to our fears in order to protect ourselves. Not all fears function as hurdles we’re meant to overcome. Some of them work as boundaries to keep us from danger.
Not only do I adore that quote (I need to print it and hang it in my office), but I also need to run and tell The Husband that my fear of garage doors falling on me is to keep me safe!
Bottom Line The Karmic Connection is great at what it is – light, breezy chick lit. Just don’t expect a lengthy, deep novel. If you identify with either (or both!) of the main characters, check this book out. If the thought of working more than 40 hours a week gives you the hives, or if you’d never consider a meal without meat…read this to expand your horizons. :)
When author Libby Mercer asked me to review her latest book, The Karmic Connection, I immediately said yes. I don't even think I really paid attention to what the book was about, to be honest. Why? Because I read and reviewed Mercer's second novel, Unmasking Maya awhile ago and loved it and knew I would love whatever she came out with next. I was right. Her most recent work is funny and sweet and thoroughly enjoyable.
This book was a quick read for me. I was actually able to finish it in one night (granted, it's more of a novella than a full length novel as it clocks in at 144 pages) while I was sitting on the floor watching my bunny run around like the maniac that she is. Since it was getting pretty late, I was glad to have an engaging and entertaining novel to keep me awake while Tonks got her exercise at her own personal gym (aka my living room). I found myself laughing out loud at numerous scenes, especially when Adam got himself into very New Age-y situations and felt incredibly awkward. I wish I had noted which scenes really entertained me but I was too busy enjoying the story to make notes!
I've found that the two books by Mercer that I've read have had similar couples. Not necessarily in personalities but in the fact that the males are more traditional with office type jobs while the females are more free spirits. This really had no impact on the story, I just found it interesting. This does make for a more entertaining story, I think. The couple seems so incredibly unsuited but there's something there (that Mercer is careful to write about in subtle ways) that makes you realize that they're actually meant to be together. I found myself rooting for Lorraine and Adam and couldn't wait for them to realize that the universe was right and they actually belonged together!
I loved all the secondary characters in this novel. I loved Lorraine and Adam too, in case you were worried. Random fact: I was immediately interested in Lorraine once I saw the book's cover because she and I have very similar hair! :) Celeste, the owner of Luna Wellness Center, seems like an awesome lady. I liked that we were introduced to the other visitors at the Center (argh, I want to type that as "Centre!" My Canadian-ness doesn't like typing it "er" hehe) through Adam's eyes. He assumes they're all hippy dippy types and we are led to assume right along with them. Of course, there's always more to someone than initially meets the eye and Mercer allows each character to show why they're at Luna and what they're struggling with. One of my favourite scenes takes place between Adam and the teenage girl who's at Luna because she thinks she's too fat. It's really sweet and helped Lorraine see that there was more to Adam than she initially thought. What can we learn from this? Don't judge someone until you really get to know them!
Overall, I loved The Karmic Connection. Libby Mercer has written another funny and entertaining novel. It has a great mix of romance and sexiness that is so much fun to read. This is a perfect read for a summer weekend for romance and chick lit lovers alike. I can't wait to see what she writes next!
Did I enjoy this book: I really did enjoy this book. It was a fun read that I read every free chance I had.
The Karmic Connection is a great story with a great message...no one is ever as they seem. Or as the old saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. (I love this cover, by the way. The saying is directed towards the characters and Adam especially.) We all have something we are dealing with, you just don't know what that might be until you truly get to know the other person.
The cast of characters in this book is quite diverse and unexpected. And although we only get glimpses into the lives of the other Luna Wellness Center inhabitants, we feel for them and hope that everything works out for them. I enjoyed every character in this book. I can't say there was one that I could have had deleted and wouldn't have cared.
Adam was your typical career/power-driven man wanting to get stay ahead of the game and be successful. He seems to think there is always time for romance later in his life. Now is the time to work. He is more concerned with his business than his own health and social life. He also judges other people quickly, based on first impressions. I love that he learns that everyone has a story and aren't what they seem at the "wellness center" that he was forced to go to. I also love his internal dialogue when he starts with the new-age talk. That made me chuckle. His story was unexpected...I shouldn't have judged quickly because there was so much more to Adam.
Lorraine was an interesting character. I expected her to be an organic, vegan, super hippie, new-age character. Talk about judging a person based on first impressions. I figured that she also had a story. I didn't imagine her story. I was impressed by Lorraine and I really liked her. She was someone I would want to be connected to in some way.
All-in-all, this was a great read. Some unexpected story lines, a sweet romance, an ending that I hope is continued in another book (not needed, but I hope!).
Would I recommend it: I would recommend this book to any chick lit or light fiction/romance lover.
Will I read it again: I just may. It was a fun read.
(I received a copy of this book for review purposes.)
Once again, Libby has another hit on her hands! The Karmic Connection is a wonderful look into the lives of two people who could not be more different.
First there's Adam, who has to be whisked away from his job (by his boss, no less) so that he can get his priorities straight.
"Adam's nerve endings were already pulsating like machine gun fire at the thought of being away from the office. And for what? So he could sit on a beach or something? Alone with no one to talk to and nothing to do? For the life of him, he couldn't possibly see how this could be a good idea."
And then there's Lorraine, who is the exact opposite and seems to have it all figured out. She's into yoga, relaxation, and all that other New Age-y stuff and she helps run the Luna Wellness Center where Adam's employer has him booked for a week.
When Adam arrives at the Luna, they meet and immediately take a strong dislike to each other but .... they do have some kind of big chemistry thing going on between them.
Well ~ the rest of the story is an amazing, fun look into the lives of both of these wonderful people. I really liked them both and was cheering them on to 'just figure it out'. But it is not going to be easy, no siree.
This passage is probably my most favorite of the whole book. This is such wonderful advice that we should all try to remember.
"The beauty of nature, the sound of silence, the thrill of chaos, the joy of meeting someone new and fascinating, of connecting with someone familiar and beloved, of creating something of your very own, of challenging yourself physically, of feeling connected to the world. Life offers us such an enormous array of wonderful possibilities, but so many of us are focused on one thing - namely our careers - that we don't bother to accept them. We feel that we'll have plenty of time to take advantage of everything life has to offer, but that might not be the case. Life can be cut short. come tomorrow, it could all be over. Finito."
I became a fan of Jodi Picoult when I read My Sister's Keeper and I became a fan of Libby Mercer when I read Unmasking Maya. In The Karmic Connection I wasn't disappointed either.
It's this thing. Loveable main characters--and more. Both Adam and Lorraine are compelling and easy to attach to. Often characters are made polar opposites in characteristics so there becomes story conflict and tension and blah blah. But with Libby Mercer's style, I didn't think, "Oh, the author made the characters polar opposites to attract attention or cause drama in the story."
Adam is a typical city guy and I saw most of me in him. He wasn't a believer of energies and auras and the like. He is a busy worker, believing in his busy routine and climbing the career ladder. Lorraine is far from the city life, working in a retreat where people like Adam come once they combust from stress or the like, or people with issues who need to reconnect (or just connect) with their spiritual and earthly side. She, as you may guess, isn't wound up like him and acts much differently.
Once they see each other they're both instantly attracted but there's no love at first site. The Karmic Connection is full of tension and waiting, and hoping that Adam and Lorraine will get together. I won't spoil but I waited much longer than expected for that "first moment" together and for their relationship to start getting closer *like that*.
I see Libby Mercer having a long and hugely successful career. It's likely she'll always publish books that will far exceed my initial thoughts, and will always surprise me with a story that absolutely captures my heart and one that I find loving every bit of every scene of each story.
Highly recommened, funny, romantic and easy to devour.
The Karmic Connection is a fun, quirky love story about two total opposites who are brought together by higher powers!
Adam Stowe is a workaholic. You wouldn’t think that would be a problem for his bosses, but they worry about him. The company has made great advancements because of him, and they would hate to lose him to burnout. So they send him (more like shanghai him) to a wellness clinic in the mountains. Adam is very angry to be at the clinic, but if he wants to keep his job he has to play along, so they will release him sooner.
Lorraine is a wellness guide, yoga, and Pilates instructor at the Luna Wellness Center. She loves her calm relaxed lifestyle at the Wellness Center, as opposed to the fast-paced life she used to live. She knows life is too short to spend it working all the time, not taking the time to enjoy it. But is she letting life pass her by in a different way?
When Adam and Lorraine meet there is an instant connection between them. Lorraine quickly recognizes Adam’s anger and knows she would never fit into his fast paced lifestyle. Adam is really turned off by Lorraine’s New Age beliefs. But they are both conscious of intense feelings that they feel for one another. Feelings that neither Adam or Lorraine thought they would ever feel.
At first I thought Adam was a real jerk! He is so arrogant the way his judges Lorraine and all of the "friends" (clients) at the Wellness Center. But little by little, as his anger fades (and his caffeine headache finally goes away. Hehe!) we get to see the real Adam, and he starts seeing the others as more than fruitcakes. As Lorraine begins to fall in love with him, so do I.
I really enjoyed The Karmic Connection! It’s a fun, quick read!
**I was provided an e-copy of the book for my honest opinion.**
When Libby (alter ego of Anna Garner) approached me to read and review her novel ‘The Karmic Connection’, I couldn’t wait to get started. It’s great to be introduced to a new author and Anna has definitely given me the boost I needed to get my website off the ground. Now, about the book:
Lorraine works at Luna Wellness Centre with her friend and employer, Celeste. Lorraine helps her troubled guests heal and repair their damaged auras and chakras; teaching Yoga, Pilates, free creative expression and encouraging the guests to talk about their problems and worries. Despite being excellent at what she does, this is not Lorraine’s original calling and we soon find out that she is as much a guest at Luna as she is an employee.
Adam, a successful businessman and CEO, is bundled out of his office and forced into a car against his will. Adam is a workaholic with a withered social life. Despite being in a both a comfortable and extremely successful position, Adam is always striving to improve an already successful business. Adam’s colleagues are concerned for his wellbeing and bundle him off for a forced stay at Luna Wellness Centre.
The lives of Lorraine and Adam are forced to merge. On Adam’s arrival, Lorraine could see his muddy red aura straight away and knew he was going to be a challenging client in more ways than one. Little did she know, the universe had bigger plans for the two of them.
Intrigued? This book is available on all major platforms (including Amazon US & UK)! Get on over to Anna’s blog to find out more about her work!
I was contacted by this offer and given a copy of this book in return for my honest review. This in no way effects my final review of the book.
In this book you follow two points of views, Lorraine and Adam. Lorraine lives and works at the Luna Wellness Center. Adam is a workaholic whose boss thought he needed a break and sent him to the Wellness Center to try to get a better work/life balance.
Once Adam arrives there is some sort of magnetic pull between him and Lorraine. However, due to many misconceptions by both Lorraine and Adam any relationship seems impossible. Not only that but it seems both are running from their past.
Overall, I liked the story, I just wasn't that into the story. It is a pretty short e-book, but it still took me four days to read it and really it should have only taken me one. I found that I had no problem putting this book off to the side to do other things.
I was hoping to be drawn into the story more than what I was. I felt almost like the characters or the story were missing something. I get that each of the main characters had a past. I also get that there were some quirky backstories to the other guests at the wellness center. I liked them as characters too. And even though I'm not really into New Age-y types of things, I even found those parts of the story interesting. Maybe, if this was a longer novel, the author would have more time to flesh out the backstories of the characters better and have more romantic tension building scenes in the story?
Because of that something special that was missing I can only rate this story as 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.
Workaholic, money-making Adam wants nothing more than to climb the professional ladder, without taking any breaks. But, noticing his endless drive, his boss sends him to a week at Luna Wellness Center in Vermont, to force him to get the rest he badly needs.
In comes Lorraine, a Wellness-Center resident and employee; she found out the hard way that work isn't everything and she completely fell in love with the Wellness mentality.
They couldn't be more different, and I enjoyed them both immensely. Even the second characters add a rich layer to this beautifully crafted tale.
Libby Mercer's punchy words and unique writing style will get your attention.
By the time I was done, I was blanketed by a lingering feel good sensation. I knew Luna would work its magic on Adam, but I was surprised it had also made me feel serene and blissful :)
I had the pleasure of reading Mercer's novel Unmasking Maya last year and I really enjoyed it. I knew I was in for a treat when I picked up The Karmic Connection - due to release next week!
A unique romance, Lorraine has a tumultuous past and finds herself working as a yoga instructor. She feels she doesn't deserve happiness but does her best to help others find theirs. Adam is a workaholic who has his own eccentrics and thinks Lorraine is a bit too far out their for his own tastes.
But the cosmos have their own way of determining life's past and it's determined that these two souls should be together, even if they rub each other the wrong way. What it creates is wonderful dialogue and two unique characters whom's layers are slowing revealed to the heart of the matter. Entertaining and page-turning, Mercer is at the top of her game with this one! Highly recommend!!
Just as the Luna Wellness Centre serves to heal the characters’ broken lives and spirits, this book is equally as soothing for readers’ souls. This is an easy-going, good old-fashioned romance between two polar opposites, backed up by a collection of seemingly barmy characters.
Mercer flows the story nicely and somehow manages to make a detoxing, health-focus getaway seem incredibly fun! However, serious and real issued are broached in an intelligent and touching way – in particular, a certain flashback involving Lorraine is incredibly moving and brings so much more to her character.
All in all, The Karmic Connection is a very refreshing and entertaining read. You’ll start it and won’t be able stop until the last page has been devoured, just perfect for a lazy afternoon.

This is an enjoyable ebook. Well written, you really get to know the characters and understand who they are. It's a fun summer read. Adam is a workaholic who needs to slow down. His boss sends him to a remote wellness center where he meets Lorraine. They soon find they have an attraction that both of them try to resist. The book goes through why they both are at the wellness center and glosses over some of the other characters who are staying at the wellness center. Libby has great visualization so you feel like you are in the story. You can see the flowers and smell them. I really enjoyed this book and found myself wanting to read it when I was at work. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a good beach read. You won't be disappointed.
I was sent a copy of this by Libby and without doing a quick read up of the story I jumped straight in...... the opening chapter sees Adam, a high flyer in the business world, being bundled out of his office and I really had no idea where his story was heading. Then we meet Lorraine at the Luna Wellness Centre.
Will their paths cross? Yes! Will sparks fly? No however Aura's have an amazing way of shedding some insight into matters of the heart even more so than words alone!
This book was a delight to read, and the magic shone through in the writing, it was a breath of fresh air to read a romance story that was well written and the growing relationship between Adam & Lorraine plus the interations with the other characters kept me turning the pages and willing the outcome that I wanted.
As it states in the blurb this is a bit different and quirky. I liked it as it was a light read yet we still get to see why Adam has toxic energy. Even though it is a bit uncomfortable for him. We also get to find out why Lorraine has become a yoga instructor and what she gave up to do so. It was fun to see Adam and Lorraine try to avoid the connection that they have. Adam learns a few things about himself and not to be so quick to judge people. I felt the characters were well developed and the plot fun! This is a sweet romance with some laughs. I was left with a smile on my face at the end of this book!
Just FYI~ this read does not have any swearing or sex.
It was pretty good. Not my fave of the Libby Mercer books I've read, but held my interest. And I like that they are short! Makes my book count go up. Ha!
