[Siren Everlasting Classic Erotic Alternative Sci-Fi Romance, M/M, HEA] He was a wanted man…Abducted and sold to one alien, computer-game programmer and math whiz Darin Poole is then abducted twice more before he’s finally given to a vicious-looking barbarian to settle a debt. Considering how everyone wants him so desperately, Darin is shocked when Axoev Shadow actually offers him a surprising deal. Axoev is the leader of Clan Shadow, and though he’s willing to take Darin in payment, he refuses to strip him of his rights. Axoev needs a way to protect himself from the designs of the women clan members, but Darin’s proximity makes Axoev realize he has other far more pressing needs. Darin and Axoev aren’t surprised when their relationship becomes physical, however neither is prepared for a deeply emotional attachment. But when the clan blocks any progression of their status, will Axoev keep his promise to let Darin go? Or will Axoev do almost anything to keep Darin at his side? ** A Siren Erotic Romance
Reading, writing, and white-water rafting are the three things Anitra Lynn enjoys the most. She is the author of erotic romances from contemporary to science fiction and everything in between. Even though her tales range from sensual to sizzling, with settings from the high rises of New York to the distant shores of an alien world, one thing all her stories share is compelling characters involved in unforgettable romances.
Darin’s a cutie. Then a bit of a twit. Then… something. And finally he’s awesome. Axoev? Eh. Started out fine, turned less than that, and less, until I wanted to shake him. Not very happy with his behaviour for the greatest part of this book. In the end, .
The thing is, this author is really good at thinking up harsh cultural systems. It’s fascinating yet also very depressing. Okay, maybe not as bad as it was with the wolves in the Twin Pines Grizzlies series, but only because here we are given hope. It was still tough to read.
I liked the fact that it doesn’t look as though . It’s good to have that variation in the series. (Although with this author, as far as I’ve observed, series do evolve, so this is not unexpected.)
Actually, this one I could have seen as a full story of its own as well. It’s really only the basic premise that binds it to the rest. I suppose this happens when the author goes into world building mode with an immersive focus for one book. Interesting.
On the downside, we were treated to further epic conversations during sex. And by epic I mean lengthy. In fact, they were so long and plentiful I ended up shaking my head a lot.
Gotta say, that was exceedingly improbable sex too. Not just the duration, since that could be blamed on alien nature or the tree or whatever, but considering that one occasion was supposed to be . Hm.
Finally, there’s the fact that I sincerely doubt someone who and is not getting any serious painkillers will be able to get it up just a few hours later. Sorry, doesn’t fly.
Well, why am I now picking at these things? It’s not like this series has been ultra-realistic before. Maybe it’s because the whole depressing situation does carry the foul taste of reality, after all.
Not sure if I should continue this series right away. While the stories themselves are interesting, the narrative is oddly compressed. (Which might explain all the talking during sex. Without that, those scenes would be over within just a page or so.) Anyway, this makes it refreshingly different but as with most authors, it’s better to not overindulge.
Volume number six in this series continues the accounting of all the stolen humans from Earth and where they end up. Darin has an unusual "career" as a slave, since he is stolen twice then handed over to his final master as payment for a debt. But the alien who now determines his fate doesn’t only want him as a slave, he needs him to stave off the women of his clan. As long as he has a male slave/lover, they cannot come and claim him. And since Axoev wants nothing to do with women, he is ready to negotiate with Darin. Or so he tells himself.
Darin is a math whiz and a computer guy, and for him to end up on a jungle-covered planet with natives living in total symbiosis with nature is doubly ironic. Not that he minds, really, except for the part where he has to wear a silly costume and do all the menial tasks. He also has major issues with understanding Axeov's culture, and the discovery what each of them mean when using certain words, plus the resulting misunderstandings, was very amusing.
Axeov may want to keep the women off his back, but he isn’t ready to admit he is gay - or happy, since the translator cannot find an equivalent in Axeov's language. That may start out as a joke, but leads to the fundamental issue between the two lovers: while Axeov can admit he is attracted to Darin, even in lust with him, love between two men is so rare that Axeov, as clan leader, is afraid to stand up for his feelings. Needless to say, Darin will not accept this.
I liked the humor in this book, sometimes hidden, sometimes out in the open. The mix between cross-cultural discovery and growing love worked well for me, and the action between Darin and Axeov is very hot! If you like stories about alien cultures that have more hidden secrets than you think possible, if you enjoy reading about two stubborn men who fall in love quickly but refuse to admit it, and if you're looking for another hot read in this very entertaining series, you will probably like this latest installment.

Enslaved by a Barbarian เล่มที่ 6 จากซีรีส์ Sold! โดย Anitra Lynn McLeod ♥ ♥
While I don't fully agree with the 'Barbarian' part of the title, this is possibly the best book so far of the series. Since we've already had the background on how humans came to be in this world we don't need a recap.. and.. We don't get one (thank you) except for possibly one paragraph that tells us Darin was sold and stolen, and stolen, and stolen.... Bringing us to current events with current green guy who stole him. No unnecessary commentary on how the trip so far with greenie went, basically starting with final destination.
Now... we get moth like creatures called kabys that intrigue Darin. I had a momentary drawback and flashback to first book when (what's the name of these people? unknown) humanoid Seig approaches and is likened to a Krase warrior (nooooo need something different!) We find out a little later that the leader Axeof is actually smaller and shorter than then rest (still leaving him bigger than Darin but not described as unseemingly so)
The trees are a big part of how their lives work. They draw people to them at night by scent (not fully explained) and everything used is recycled by the trees. Then, once a month there is a fire which we find out is actually a passion fire (ohhh, new and different, cool!) Though, Darin's outfit? I liked that he refused to wear a 'girl' outfit. Unfortunately he gave in after being forced the first time. I would have liked to see Axeof try to learn why Darin felt that way. Obviously they are different so their culture would be as well. Even if the outcome was the same, I felt that BOTH of them should be trying to see things from the other's perspective.
Then the unimaginable happens.. Axeof is injured. Darin shows his worth and character by figuring a way to save him. Even though Axeof is put out of commission of his arms (a very big deal in this lifestyle) Darin cares for him and in turn actually finds a real place in the clan.
Best of all...........there was no interruption to their new life with any Krase warriors tracking Darin down. He truly is off the grid!
I didn't think it was possible, let alone twice in one series, but Ms. McLeod has done it again. Beyond the romance, she has created a complete symbiotic culture between man and plant. Her details and ability to create a beautiful world ripe with history never cease to amaze me, and the talent to put it into a single book is something I never thought possible. In addition to this, she even gave the human a more rounded background and personality, starting him off as a mere gamer/designer and expanding him into a mathematician with a wealth of knowledge and a scientific mind. Truly another masterpiece. Anyone who hasn't read McLeod's works should definitely start with this series.
I'm so glad these books are coming out quickly! This book was so good! I loved the concept of a tree lurking people who' s trees supply their every need almost. I kind of wanted to see more of Darin's mathematician coming out. It came out more as an engineer but I had assumed he would teach the tree ppl much more than he did. t I suppose his life is long and he will eventually teach them a lot. As usual I can't wait for the next book and hope this series goes on forever!
I love this series! I'm glad Darin found his place among the Shadow Clan. The term "ball juice" stunned me at first then made me laugh out so hard, other people were giving me puzzled looks! The ending was different compared to the other books in this series. It was a refreshing change. Very enjoyable read.
I've said it before and I'll proudly say it again, 'Sometimes predictable & pleasurable in a books is not a bad thing.' We just met Darin Poole another of the men that were abducted from Earth. He's been traded around and ends up in an planet polar opposite of Earth.
It was an enjoyable read. However, the beginning was too vague. I would like to have had the story of Darin's abduction from earth, then his abduction from his first owner and then his abduction from his abductor by Wetoo. That sure was a lot of abducting!
Different from the other books in the series and for a change there is no involvement from the krase warriors to take the human back to their planet to free them
