Cynthia Eden continues her USA Today best-selling "Bound" series with...BOUND IN DEATH.

She can’t remember him…

He can never forget her.

For over two hundred years, alpha werewolf Alerac O’Neill has been searching for his mate, Keira McDonough, a woman who was taken from him and imprisoned by a dark vampire master. He’s hunted for her, endlessly, using vampire blood to extend his life. He has become a vicious predator, feared by all the supernaturals. His hold on reality seems to slip more each day because he is consumed by her.

Only…the woman he discovers in a small Miami bar isn’t the Keira that he remembers. In fact, this woman doesn’t remember anything. She calls herself Jane Smith, and she has no memory at all of Alerac—or of her own past.

Now that she’s been found, Alerac knows that his enemies are going to start closing in on her. Jane may try to act human, but she’s not. She’s a pureblood vampire princess, incredibly powerful and incredibly valuable. His enemies want to use her, her enemies want to destroy her, and Alerac—he just wants her.

If he can’t make her remember him, then Alerac has to seduce Jane into loving him once again. Because now that he’s found her, he’ll fight hell—and every sadistic vampire that stalks the night—in order to keep her safe at his side.

Some bonds go deeper than the flesh. Some go beyond life. Beyond death.

Jane will soon learn that a werewolf’s claiming…is forever.

I hate when the books start off strong, but soon begin to drag, and then fail to give me satisfying answers to some of my questions. I must admit I had high hopes for this one, but sadly, I got less than expected. I wouldn’t say it was all that bad because there were some parts that I enjoyed a lot. Let’s just say, at first glance, this book was very promising, but in the end, it just fell short of its mark.

When I started reading this, it didn't take me long to get into the groove of the story. The first few chapters got me fascinated and excited to know more about Alerac and Keira and what would happen to them. Unfortunately, somewhere around midway through the second quarter, I started to get bored, and as I read further into the story, I felt the urge to put it down several times. I’m not sure why I almost lost interest in this book. It might be because of the romance between Alerac and Jane (Keira). Honestly, it fell flat and I couldn't feel any chemistry or passion between them at all.

However, it was utterly riveting in the suspense part. The intense situations kept me on the edge of my seat and there were many twists and turns which I didn’t see coming.

All in all, this was just a mediocre read for me. Despite its flaws and unsatisfying ending, I still recommend this book to PNR and Cynthia Eden’s fans. You’ll probably enjoy it more than I did.

After reading the prologue I wasn't sure I was going to like the hero and that's a first for me from this author... If you know me enough in here then you know why I love CE's books because she writes the most devoted heroes ever, I'm well aware that I sound like a broken record but I love her heroes. So yea I was surprised that he used her.

Back to the point I was making, this hero betrayed the heroine... No, he didn't cheat on her, I'm talking about how he used her 200 years prior, he seduced her, made her fall in love with him, he used her so he could kill the vampire leader of her clan. He was captured and then the heroine sacrificed herself for him, so he could lived, and while he was protective in that moment he just couldn't do anything to save the heroine and he finds seconds later after she was being taken away for her punishment that she was in fact his mate, no he wasn't in love with her and he only cared so, no I didn't like him at that moment. He did NOT grovel at all. I need my heroes to grovel. Some may say that his grovel was him looking for her for 200 years or how guilty he felt, well I said I need my grovel, I needed him beg her for her forgiveness because of him the heroine suffered for those 200 years.

At first I didn't like the heroine but she grew on me. She became stronger but I wanted her to get upset because he deceived her but sadly she didn't. There's a point in the book where the hero takes her to his house and she's looking for some clothes and shoes, she didn't know the clothes was for her because they were exactly the same size and at some point she thinks he might have a lover but does this woman asks him about the clothes or if he has a lover? No she doesn't.

I'm glad too he suffered guilt those 200 years, I'm glad he didn't stop looking for her but there's no confirmation that he's been celibate, I guess it's how you want to perceive it. But for me I need clear confirmation, not words like this "it's been so long without her" or "its been long that I've woken up without her" now maybe it's me but I need words like " I've been celibate for 200 years" or "I haven't been with anyone since you" See that's clear enough right? Because we all know in CR even if the hero still in love with the heroine he can still sleep around.

Vampires, werewolves, witches and a spell used to punish and keep to lovers apart made this an entertaining little re-read.

I liked how the heroine - vampire Kiera grew in strength as the story progressed and loved that it was her that

I do think that Alerac needed to grovel for his

Wish Kiera's brother Ryan had gotten a book, but looks like this was last in the series. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone.

An epilogue would have been fab.

I'm fast becoming a big fan of this author and readily admit it's her paranormal tales that got me hooked but I'm even enjoying her more recent suspense stories . So when checking my kindle I was horrified to realise I've had this little gem sat there just waiting for me to read it, oops but I've rectified my oversight now.
Yes this is part of a series but I thought it worked very well as a standalone. Essentially we have Werewolf Alerec finally tracking down the Vampiress Keira that he has been searching for for two hundred years. She sacrificed herself so that her lover Alerac could live but their mutual enemy used dark magic and trickery to really drive a wedge between the couple. Now Keira has no memory of anything before the last few months and calls herself Jane. So when she's virtually kidnapped by the big and ever so scary Alerac naturally she's out of her depth. Faced with his possessive actions, a Werewolf pack that doesn't seem happy to see her oh and let's not forget Vampires trying to kill her what is Keira/Jane to do ?
I really liked that as this story progressed Keira /Jane grows so much as a character. She might have started out young and naive but boy does she come out fighting. I never thought she lacked strength or back bone though as right from the start she would do anything to protect Alerec.
Alerac is one hot, sexy male ! He's the typical alpha hero that women have fantasised about. One who is protective and sweet, such strong feelings he has for the woman he loves and it brought a smile to my face.
Now obviously there's more to it then the couple reuniting and I did briefly mention their enemy Lorcan and he's a thoroughly nasty bad guy with tricks up his sleeve that I didn't expect. Unfortunately Lorcan isn't the only person out to hurt this couple and you know what they say about keeping your enemies closer . Hmm if honest I thought maybe Alerec should have been more on the ball at times but who wouldn't forgive such a passionate fellow? I think I'm right in saying this is the final book in this series which is a shame as this ends with the possibility of another pairing which would have been very interesting. If you enjoy books about Vampires, Werewolves and magic mixed with betrayal and ultimately love then these stories are bound to please.

Warning Gif and Quote Heavy 5 Star review!!!

The last book in this series is the best, by far. Absolute favorite. The even better thing? It's not a novella so we get a lot of great story telling and romance. The romance was on point and I loved every bit of this book!

Our heroine is Keira, a pureblood vampire Princess who falls for the werewolf that infiltrated their compound to take them down, but who instead falls for the innocent young princess. The story starts out 200 years before present day when Keira is cursed. She agrees to be cursed in order to save Alerac and it is probably one of the most romantic scenes...until the end where Keira (now Jane) one ups herself. Like majorly.

Two hundred years later Jane (formerly Keira) wakes up with no idea of who she is only that she desperately craves blood. The present day starts with Jane working in a bar where Alerac finally finds her. This leads to a roller-coaster of emotion and romance.

I highly recommend this book for paranormal romance lovers. It is not necessary to read any of the other books in this series to fully enjoy this book.

Now a gif and quote heavy finality to my "review". :)

Quotes & Faves:

Keira’s hand lifted. Her palm brushed against his cheek. I picture her doing this so lovingly.

Her smile broke the heart that he shouldn’t have. “I won’t let you die.”

♥ Then she bent before him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and bringing her lips close to his ear. “I know you did not love me,” she whispered, her mouth brushing against him. “But I loved you.”

She was all that Alerac could see. Her eyes had been so blue. So trusting. There had been love in her eyes. Love for a beast who’d betrayed her.

A long, mournful cry for a mate who wasn’t there. A mate he hadn’t recognized. Not until it was too late.

“Missed you. So fuckin’ much.” His accent had deepened. What was that? Irish? It sounded like an accent she’d heard on TV once. “Never gonna let you go again.”

“I would know you, anywhere.”

“You think I don’t know you? You think I don’t know your scent? Your touch? Every fuckin’ thing about you?”

How many nights had he dreamed of her? How many times had he woken, reaching for her? Always searching, but never finding her.

When he’d lost his sight, she’d been the only light in his darkness.

She fuckin’ broke his heart. The heart too many had tried to carve right out of his chest. The heart he’d given to her two centuries before.

He didn’t tell her what the Celtic knot meant, not then. Alerac didn’t reveal that the tattoo itself was a symbol of forever, that the corners symbolized his search. North. South. East. West. He’d vowed to search every corner of the earth. For her.

His heart raced beneath her fingers. “It’s my symbol—forever. Eternity. An endless knot. “It’s…for you,” he continued, voice roughening. “A design to show that I am bound to you, forever, that I would search until I found you.”

What it really meant was…secret love. This is what he called her but in Gaelic(?) He'd originally told her it meant "vampire."A rúnsearc.

His hold on her was too hard. He had to ease his grip or he’d bruise her. He couldn’t bruise Jane. He couldn’t hurt Jane. He needed her too much. She had to stay with him. He couldn’t make it through any more years without her.

Without her, he didn’t want to walk this earth.

“We’re linked,” Alerac whispered. “She made me more than just a beast. I made her more than just a vampire.” Please don’t leave me. Please. “She’s still here.” He held her tight. He gave her his blood. “I love you, Jane,” he whispered. He told her that truth again and again.

A rúnsearc. Secret love. The love that had been in his heart from the moment he first saw her.

"Bound in Death" is the story of Keira and Alerac.
Keira is a vampire who falls for the werewolf alpha Alerac with dire consequences. When she ends up sharing blood, she realizes that he might be using her for gaining entrance into their camp, and as a punishment she is exiled and her memory removed, while Alerac is tortured while his eyes are gouged out.
200 years later, "Jane" is a strange human who needs blood and one night in a bar, she finds a stranger staring her down- who later chases her and brands her as his. Soon she realizes why her memory might be blank, why a man who shifts into a wolf stirs up her desire like no other, and why she has enemies who are closer than she thinks..
A tale of love, betrayal and deceit, this was one of the better books from the series and I really enjoyed reading it. The secondary characters of Zoe and Ryan were equally interesting, and would have liked to read more about them.
I liked the chemistry between the leads, the heartbreak and how Alerac did not give up on Keira.
Ends on a positive note.

read my review on Got Fiction? Book Blog

I bought this one while I sat in the drop off lane at my kids school. I had a hard time tearing myself from it-I actually had to force myself to drive home so I could read in comfort there!

Kiera and Alerac were in love, but the biggest hurdle they have to face is that Kiera is a vampire, a pureblood at that, and Alerac is a werewolf. Natural enemies, Kiera thinks the hardest thing will be overcoming the hatred her kind show Alerac. Boy is she wrong.

Alerac was just using Kiera for reasons of his own, to get close to the vampires. He never thought he’d fall for her, even worse, he never thought she’d fall for him. So when he is caught, Kiera tries to save his life. Alerac finally understands love, but will it be too late?

Kiera is punished as well as Alerac, only her punishment is to be put in stasis for 200 years, and upon waking, she won’t remember anything. During these 200 years, Alerac becomes one crazy mofo who will stop at nothing to find Kiera. He is finally tipped off to where she is, and when he goes to find her, she runs.

Jane Smith is the name Kiera takes for herself. She has no memory past waking in a swamp 6 months ago, and now she’s a waitress in a club. When a tall, dark, and scary man comes straight for her, she freaks. It takes her own kind trying to kill her for Jane to want to go with Alerac, and once she goes with him, she sees how often he protects her, and saves her. Yet, she still doesn’t trust him.

Alerac has to realize that he can’t force her to love him again, and he’s got his jerk-face moments. But he also has some sweet moments, and some extra sexy moments. How can he keep Jane with him, and how can he make her remember him? If she doesn’t, will she stay? If she does get her memories back, will she even be able to look at him without remembering his betrayal and the horror of her imprisonment?

Another great installment to Cynthia Eden’s Bound series, Bound in Death delivers action, suspense, and a sexy werewolf alpha who never knew how much his mate meant to him until she was gone.

This book is longer than the other books. The story is more fleshed out. The story is intense and action-packed. I just don’t like long separations and 200 years is damn long, that’s why I can’t give it 5 stars. Also, there is no epilogue. It would have helped clarify the HEA since the H/h has been battling conflict after conflict for more than 200 years.

I'm sorry to say but it was completly meh.
Edited to add:
I thought the story had promise, but it dwindled quite fast. I felt as if the author forgot to add a few sentences here and there, for instance, why didn't Lorcan refer to the heroine as Keira but as Jane? He didn't know that she wanted to be called Jane, did he?
I didn't get why the heroine Jane/Keira was attracted to the hero. I understood him as he still had his memories from 200 years ago, but her attraction? Where did it come from?

Bound in Death is about a forbidden romance between a vampire and werewolf where Keira offered herself as punishment to save the life of her love, Alerac, from being killed. Due to her disobedience, she was sent off to some other part of the world and imprisoned in a box for 200 years until she was freed without a memory. When Alerac realized that he had lost his mate, he spent the rest of the two hundred years searching for her even if he have to leave trails of bodies everywhere to find her.

As far as paranormal romance goes, Bound in Death kinda fit into my kind of books I like to read. Despite the female protagonist began as a Mary Sue, she began to learn more about herself, her old life, what happened to her and who her enemies is that she emerged as a quite well rounded character. Alerac on the other hand, two hundred years is a long time to be faithful to a missing girl. Got to say, that kinda tops everything. And the conflict is really good, someone betrayed, trust cautiously gained, rebuilding love from ashes, sacrifices and etc.

For a moderately short novel, it does seem ambitious but for a light reading it does even more than that. I didn't even bother to read the whole series but I was able to enjoy it as it is. Besides, its always fun mixing vampire and werewolf romance together.

4 stars

Spineless heroine from the beginning. Still spineless throughout the story. Spineless to me anyway even though she turned stronger, braver, and sacrificed herself in the end for her true love. Just so you know, this is just me and what I felt for the heroine named Keira or Jane. She's annoying. She got on my nerves pretty bad. She's on my least favourite heroine in this series. Don't mind me because you might feel different about her.

I gave this book 4 stars for reasons.

1) The plot, especially, is really good. I enjoyed every bit of it.
2) I am marveled with Alerac because he waited for Keira/Jane for two freaking hundred years! At least he reminds that he's a fictional character. Such thing no exist.
3) Lorcan the villain, he is so very sick, manipulative, twisted, wicked vampire but he's my favourite (THE HORROR) because I was full of hatred when it came to him. It's a thumbs-up to me as I was fully engaged to his character.
4) It's about Liam and I truly didn't see it coming.
5) Instead of romance between Alerac and Keira/Jane, I think I enjoyed sparks between Ryan and Zoe's a lot more.

Done with the series but I want more. Hope there will be more. :)

Read the series if you haven't! Recommended.

I loved it It was a bit longer than the other ones and that was actually great because I didn't want it to end. The heroine was extremely likable and I enjoyed watching her character grow. Now Alerac was just pure sin. Definitely one of my favorite heroes in the bound books. The plot was interesting and the villain was great. The book also had a bit of an unpredictable twist which I enjoyed a lot. As for Ryan and Zoe I'm really bummed that they don't have their own book .. I was really interested in their romance and I enjoyed their story parts incredibly.

I loved this book. How romantic is it that Alerac has been looking for Jane (Keira) for over 200 years after she was taken from him and not once did he give up.

Alerac was so sexy and Jane was awesome. I really loved the romance between these two.

This book had it all, wonderful and steamy romance, great suspense, interesting characters. Another winner from Cynthia Eden.

I do hope that there will be a book about Ryan and Zoe….

Bound in Death takes obsession to the extreme. Alerac has been searching for Keira for over two hundred years, since he managed to get caught with her and she took his punishment. A seriously awful punishment that get's revealed as the story goes on. Bound in Death is a much more bloodier story than the other's in the Bound series and instead of it just being characters we don't actually see or know that get killed it's characters that you meet and grow interested in or feel sorry for. Alerac has been drinking vampire blood for the 200 years Keira has been missing which makes him more and more unstable on top of the things he suffered after Keira was taken.

When Alerac finally finds Keira she doesn't remember anything about who or what she is or where she came from or what happened to her. She is totally clueless and Alerac scares the hell out of her, her automatic response is to run far, far away from him but Alerac won't lose Keira again no matter what the cost.

Bound in Death is a slightly longer novella coming in at 60,000 words compared to the other novella's in the series.

Overall, Bound in Death is a really interesting story, there's more than one villain, the heroine doesn't have a clue who the hero is and there's a secondary love interest which I really enjoyed the hinting at.
I'm hoping that there will be a follow up story with the secondary characters Ryan {Keira's brother} and Zoe {one of the members of Alerac's pack}.

And I've read another, yes again in one sitting, Cynthia Eden's writing is addictive. Once I opened this book again I was glued to the spot, barely getting up to eat and drink it was enthralling as all of her stories are and I was glad to find this one was even more than previous ones I've read of hers. I've read many of hers and I love the paranormal romance she portrays in most of her stories but this one had so much more twist and turns power, love hate and lust and for that I loved it even more. The characters again never disappointed ok there were times I was annoyed at Keira/jane for being so weak but then she had been in a paralysed state for 200 years she had every right to be afraid of almost everything, I loved watching her confidence fro was her memories grew. I'll be looking for more of Cynthia Eden's work.

Re-review

I love the array of characters within this book, the different personalities, egos and strengths each of them benefited this and made it a more rounded sorry generally.

Alerac definitely suited being an alpha from the moment he was first introduced you felt his power in every scene not just when he was being bossy but even when he was trying to show he cared, he was a little clumsy with his strength his protectiveness but that part of his character made you want to watch him see where he was going and if he could be a little softer.

Jane/Kiera I liked how she was definitely lost from the beginning and that there was no instant recovery for her but a gradual development of her skill and confidence and well her feistiness coming back even towards an alpha wolf, she was afraid but brave in her actions. Strong minded, independent and stubborn and I loved that she didn't lose that from going from Kiera to Jane. How she interacted with Alerac was believable and real, she didn't just fall into a strangers arms and trust him inexplicably she questioned things, thought things through.

Overall I did enjoy this book a lot the characters, the treachery, the love, hate, ego and of course the lust filled sex scenes which were a few.

Kiera has been put under a spell for 200 years she will be locked inside her body because of the betrayal to her vampire clan. Her betrayal of loving a werewolf and bringing him into their home.

Aleric didn't realize he loved Kiera until she stepped forward to take his punishment for him. It was in that moment he realized he couldn't imagine living his life without her, his sweet, brave Kiera.

The story picks up 200 years later, part of Kiera's spell was that she would forget everything from the past, her 200 years of punishment, her clan and Aleric.

I was sucked in at the prologue, I couldn't wait to read this. But for some reason, I just wasn't as satisfied with it as I was with other books in this series. I think I craved Kiera/Jane's memories to come back, at least her memories of Aleric anyway. I also hated that she had such a cool name like Kiera, and insisted on being called Jane. BORING.

I enjoyed their story, I just wished I felt more of a connection between Aleric and Kiera. I felt it on Aleric's side, but not on Kiera's side so much.

3.5 stars actually and a digital copy.
Not my favorite of this vampire/werewolf mating series. It was too long for what it was making it feel padded.
Alerac O’Neill would know Kiera McDonough anywhere – even though she is now going by Jane Smith and they were forcibly separated more than 200years ago. Now that vamp/were matings are more known and are legendary for their power this couple has to stay a step ahead of vamps and were’s.
Years ago Kiera bargained herself into imprisonment to keep Alerac safe when her clan leader began hearing rumblings about the power boost between vamp/were couple. With the amount of vamps and weres that were after them to steal "the power" there was barely enough time to reacquaint themselves.
This was a good story, and the characters were defined enough – what didn’t work for me was the single thread. It was too long to not have anything else going on. For this reader it made me dance too close to the I don’t care line.

This was another heartbreaking read. I don’t know why but stories where the lovers get separated because of other people’s manipulation always get to me. This novella was the same. I could feel Alerac’s suffering for losing his mate over his own mistakes and over the monstrous things that were done to him.

Jane, who loved him, in spite of knowing he’d deceived her. How strong can a heart be to still love and to try to save the other person, knowing he wronged you? Can anything be more scary than losing your memory and not knowing who to trust?

Alerac and Jane were great characters and Cynthia Eden’s writing made them and their ordeals so real for me. For a novella, this book had it all—sexy romance, suspense, surprising twists, hidden betrayals and secrets that came to light in a fantastic end.

I love my Eden. Even if this isn't the series I prefer (by her), its books are always a pleasure to read.

Bound In Death is no different. It has the trademark "Bound in plot": were alpha needs vampire princess. Enemies abound. Lies too. Hea ensues.

You can't avoid liking it. But I'll be honest. I'd rather read something new or different. I know this is a pnr retelling, so she's playing her were/vamp couple against a backdrop of famous tales. Still, I so miss the midnight or night watch series. < grin >

I have read and truely enjoyed all the Bound books by Cynthia Eden and Bound In Death was Awesome!! Even though I have found a lot of these Alhpa/female books to be predictable, I loved the storyline on this one! Alerac and Keira/Jane are true mates and nothing is going to keep them apart. There are lots of twists and turns and my emotions were running in high gear throughout the entire book. I can't wait for the next one and hope that it is about Ryan and Zoe. Get this book! You won't be disappointed!

Amazing! Another great story by Cynthia Eden. Pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading until the last page! This is my favorite so far all the characters had an agenda and you just had to keep reading to find out all the secrets and deals they did 200 years in the making. Loved every single page of this book!!!!
