Amanda gives a whole new meaning to cool…

High school is all about hanging out with friends, sneaking around with your boyfriend, and doing a little school work, right?

Not for someone like me.

My norm is trying not to turn the guy I like into a human popsicle when I kiss him. Not to mention evading the scalpel-toting scientists who want to dissect me to find out why I can freeze things and lift a two-ton truck over my head like it’s a bag of feathers.

But when the scientists find me, I can’t be held accountable for what my ice does to protect the ones I’ve come to love.

I had this book sitting on my Kindle for the longest time and I finally decided to read it! Unfortunately, I was super disappointed.
Right from the start, this book just hit me weird. Everything was odd and I still can't really put my finger on what made it so awkward to read. It kind of felt like a draft instead of the finished book.
The main character was, in my opinion, overly teenager. She said a lot of things that older adults seem to think all teens say all the time. Things like "my fave" and always incorrectly using the word literally.
There was a big ol' batch of insta-love. Amanda and Zach said I love you really quickly and I wish there was more development in the relationship. And there was just so many tropes. I couldn't find a lot of original ideas expect for the overall concept, which I did like. I just felt like this book should have about Amanda, not Amanda meets a boy and falls in love. I wanted to know her story and get to know her. But Zach came along and it was all about him.

This is a gem of a book and I now have to read everything on Lynn Rush's back list while I wait for the other books in this series to come out. :)

Frostbite was such a refreshing read. At first glance, Amanda seems like a predictable ya heroine. She has one friend, her parents are dead, and discovers her powers have grown, is escaping bad guys and suddenly the most popular boy in school likes her. However, instead of an absentee guardian, she is looked after by her older brother, who is always present in the story line looking after her and trying to protect her from the bad guys. She might only have one friend, Georgia, but she is also always present and doesn't disappear once trouble starts happening and the cute guy admits his feelings from her. Zach, the popular guy isn't so typical either. He's shocked when Amanda blows him off at first, but doesn't give up trying to win her over. He takes a few hits, and the poor guy doesn't always get to rescue Amanda because she's always getting herself out of trouble first.

What I liked most was that while Amanda knew what her powers were, they kept changing & I enjoyed seeing what cool thing she would do next & was cheering her on in her fight to discover why she was the way she was. There were a few predictable plot devices, but all and all I just adored this book. Zach was my favorite character, and I loved that Amanda wasn't won over so quickly by his charm. This was a fast read with enjoyable characters, and I can't wait to see what trouble Amanda and Georgia get into next!

Can I just begin my review with how awesome the cover is. Some book covers do not reflect their content but this one does perfectly. The story is about a girl called Amanda who has had an unhappy past full of tragedy and who is very much in need of some normality in her life. Amanda comes across as someone who is cold and unfriendly when she is in fact fearful of losing those she may get close to. Amanda has a strong relationship with her brother Scott and they look out for each other. What makes Amanda different from other girls her age is her ability to freeze things as well as some other cool gifts. These gifts are what causes her family to have such a tragic past and why she is still in danger. This story was very gripping and it is easy to sympathise with Amanda's character. She is just a girl who has the gift she does not want ,thrust upon her, and it is causing her life misery and it is going to take every bit of strength she has to fight what is coming for her. A little love interest in the form of Zach and a great best friend called Georgia make this a truly enjoyable fun fuelled ride . Wonderful book!

Review on Blog: HERE

description

First things first: Frostbite's book cover is absolutely beautiful, and represents the book to perfection. That was actually what drew me to this story; the ethereal girl, covered in snow, and tipped in blue. But when I began reading, that's when the real magic happened...

With just her body and thoughts, Amanda can create cold, snow, ice, freeze, etc. any person, place, or thing. But because of those wonderful, oftentimes deadly powers, the same organization who murdered their parents are ruthless in their attempt to capture Amanda.

And after the Coats murdered their parents, Amanda and Scott 'Smith' live life on the run. Place to place, town to town, they never settle—in fear of the Coats finding them, and capturing Amanda.

With no one but each other to count on, Amanda and Scott's brother-and-sister relationship is strong, a force to be reckoned with (and, subsequently, that's one of my favorite aspects about the book). Well, besides Amanda has the unusual affinity for ice!

Tired of running, Amanda and Scott become attached to a tiny town—and those inhabiting it. Soon, Amanda has a best friend as well as a maybe-boyfriend, and Scott's smoothie business is thriving. To protect all they've come to love, Amanda and Scott decided that they won't run from the Coats anymore, and that it's time to fight back.

There were some unexpected twist to the story that took me by surprise. And I liked how mature Amanda was, and how fearless she seemed despite being scared of not only the Coats, but of herself.

But my absolute favorite thing about this book was Amanda and Zach falling in love, how he both melted her heart and warmed her up in ways that made me smile. And as consequence, their hearts-for-eachother (as well as her sister-strong friendship with her insta-BFF) gave her the determination to finally stop hiding from her fears. In fact, I would've liked even more of Zach and Amanda's romance infused into the story.

Although, there were a few parts of the book that I rolled my eyes at (but I can't quite go there without spoilers) overall, I thought Frostbite (Touch of Frost, #1) was a good 3.5-Star Young Adult read.

*PS: I was given an ARC of this book. But I do solemnly swear that I am up to...good. ;) This is a fair and honest review of this book, pinky promise.*

Frostbite is full of unexpected twists and turns, I never really knew what would happen next and I loved that about this book.
It has also been quite some time since a YA book made me cry; such were the emotions of this story.
I especially loved the prologue – it really sets the scene; lots of dire events, fighting and surprising ice action!

A great story, well told with realistic relationships/friendships portrayed. I look forward to reading where this story goes next.
A lovely 4 star read ;]

I started Frostbite and thought oh this is going to be a long book. I really was not enjoying the story for about the first half of the book. Amanda was annoying and just...I was not enjoying it. Then somehow in the second half I started getting into it and by the end I thought this was not too bad. I even thought I might read the second book when it came out, until I read the sneak peek and then decided never mind...so it was a strange thing. Bad, good, then back to bad.

The story starts with Amanda worrying about Coats every two seconds. It was like every other sentence something about Coats. Oh no, are Coats here? I have to watch out for the Coats. The Coats, the Coats, the Coats. It was really annoying as I was just like I get it! The Coats are bad, they killed your parents, they want you and you have to keep an eye out for them. Got it. You don't have to keep reminding me.

Besides talking about the Coats all the time, Amanda also seemed very whiny. She was always complaining about how she can't control her powers, but for a good bit it was never mentioned that she even tried to practice or anything. Eventually she does say that she practices, but it is never shown how she actually tries to control her powers. I think it would have been interesting to watch some of that, maybe have her go out into the woods to try and control when the freeze happens and pull it back afterwards. Oh well. She just was really whiny about her powers and how she can't have friends and stuff which...I mean she can't do anything about it so suck it up and deal with it!

There is also Zach, who seems fine, but I have no idea why he likes Amanda. They don't really talk ever...they just seem to have lots of sexual tension, then make out a bunch. It is odd. One minute Amanda is suspicious of why Zach is talking to her suddenly, then the next second they are making out. It didn't really seem very realistic. Amanda keeps pushing him away, even once he knows all of her secrets, and it was a bit frustrating. I get that you don't want him to get hurt, but you should also let him figure out what he wants. Apparently he wants you so...Oh and Amanda can be kind of dense. When Zach gets hurt she curls up with him and starts making out with him and then she thinks she is freezing him to death. So she is all oh noes! Then she goes home and sees that she can heal herself, and others, with her ice. So obviously that is what she did to Zach right? Well apparently not so obvious until the next day when she spies and see that he has healed too quickly for it to have been natural.

One thing I did really like is Georgia. I loved the fire and ice. I thought she was a great addition to the story. She was great and could become a strong character to compliment Amanda. So as the story went on I enjoyed it more and more. It become more of trying to stay away from the Coats and figure things out. The very end was a little lame, but not too bad. Spoilers ahead! So I did not like whenever someone mentions Amanda's mom she just freezes up and cannot think at all. Like at the end when Andrey tells her he killed her mom she just freezes. She almost gets beaten to death before she comes back to it and gets angry with him and tries to kill him. If someone told me they killed my parents I would switch to instant anger and try and hurt them however I could. It was just kind of lame. But the whole being captured and escape and destroying the whole place was kind of fun. So it did end on more of a positive than it started. Not many books do that, usually it is the reverse.

eARC received from writer in exchange for honest review. This review is spoiler-free.

Frostbite is the first in a new series called Touch of Frost. Like you might have read in the synopsis the main person in the book is Amanda, who can shoot snow from her hands. Well Lynn, you had me at snow shooting. That is just awesome. Amanda is apparently looking for a normal life, but of course she can't have one (you know with the snow shooting and all).

I don't want to spoil too much, so I won't be extremely long here. Frostbite is a really well-written novel. The book begins when Amanda is 13, but we skip four years after one chapter. So here we are: Amanda is 17 and she's a bit of a rebel at school. She lives with her brother and is finally settled down in Trifle, Arizona. She even has a best friend, Georgia, who is awesome by the way. She's still hiding from the scientists that killed her parents a couple of years ago and who are now after her.

I promised I wouldn't spoil too much, so I'm just going to keep it at that. You can probably already guess that she won't be having the normal life she so desperately wants. The book is not just about Amanda and her extra-ordinary powers, but it's also about love, friendship, family, fear, death, sacrafice and well... I could go on but I think you get the point.

What I also love about this book is that it's not predictable. I love guessing when I'm reading a book and what I love even more is when I guess things wrong. I wasn't right about one single thing in this book. The only thing that I didn't like about the book is that I somehow didn't feel completely connected to the character(s). I loved the characters, but the connection just wasn't fully there. I'm not sure why, though. I really wanted to give it 5 stars though, because I seriously couldn't put the book down and I finished it pretty quickly.

Okay so just to sum it up a bit: it is really well-written, the plot itself is really good and the characters are awesome. Oh and did I already tell you that there's a smoothie shop? Jummy! Smoothie cravings! I'm rating this book 4 out of 5, because I really missed the connection to the characters, but overall it's just an amazing book and a must-read!

Thank you Lynn for writing this awesome book and while most of you wait until this book gets released(September 17th), I'm just going to wait until I can read the second one!

I have been extremely lucky to get to read this ARC of Frostbite. I absolutely love a hot steamy romance, but if I'm not reading a good romance I want something on the sci-fi, paranormal, outta-this-world type story, with a touch of romance. Frostbite is exactly that!

Amanda and her brother,Scott, are on their own. Their parents passed away due to a "tragic accident." She is so close to having a normal life unlike the past 4 years. She is trying to stay out of trouble, graduate, and has the best friend she could ever have, Georgia. Then she lands in detention and there is Zach.... hummm, now where will this go?

This book is full of self discovery, understanding ones self, finding family, super powers, cold, heat, speed, crazy strength, and taking down the Coats. And finding the chance at true love along the way!

From Chapter 1, I was hooked! I had to know more about Amanda and what was her deal, who were the Coats, what really happened to her parents, could she have a relationship, and would they have to run again.

This book is full of action, adventure, superpowers, relationships, and everything finally coming together. It is well written, and I <3 the cover! It is SOOOOO Amanda! I also love how this story is more than just a story about super powers or a romance. It's like a real life story with several major twists! With each character, you know there is relevance for their intertwining and meeting.

I <3 how each of the characters all fall into their place... my favorite is Amanda & Georgia. They are the perfect fire & ice! Frostbite has a ton of action. You are always on your toes and wondering what is in store next for Amanda, Scott, and now everyone else they trust!

The story end exactly where it should, but leaves you wanting to know more. I look forward to seeing where the next journey takes Amanda, Georgia, Scott, Zach, & Jasmine!

The story is unique and one I really enjoyed. Mandy is a tough heroine and I liked her believable attitude of wanting to belong someplace and be normal despite the circumstances. The world building is great - Mandy already knows about her powers and we dive right into why she and her brother are in hiding. I liked that there wasn't a lot of build up and instead we got thrown right in. I really liked the explanation behind Mandy's frosty fingertips (which I won't say to avoid spoilers). The twist was something I didn't see coming and I even liked the teen romance between Mandy and Zach and rooted for them to be together as well as for Mandy's survival with her family. The ending was really great action and I liked the set up that will take readers into the next book (easy to see where some of it is going so that loose ends are eventually tied up).
I had some moments where I had a hard time keeping up with the narrator - perhaps in the reasoning behind a teenage narrator, I was supposed to sort of get lost, but every now and again I had to stop and reread parts to make sure I hadn't lost the train of thought. Some of it sounded a bit too immature, but it didn't take away from the story or characters by any means.

A 2? A 2.5? Yes, thereabouts. I paused at 70% and didn't touch this book until two days after and I struggled to motivate myself to read the last 50 pages. It didn't hold my attention any longer.

In the beginning, I was all "Yay! Someone with cryokinesis! I can ride with this." Then, typical tropes galore! OMG, WHY!?!
description

Frostbite had great premise but then the boy came and *sigh* instalove.

Girl, you could deny him all you want but as you said you wanted a boyfriend badly.

But nooooo, I could hurt him. It's impossible! I won't drag him into my problem.

You can't resist those smoldering eyes and those yummy kisses.

I give in!

Then, poof! Your best friend Hey sister from another mother! Oops, you're really my twin sister!?!

Sorry, I'm being pretty sarcastic. But as I said, it would have been good sci-fi plenty of evil scientists, kick-butt action, slow-burn romance (Ha! This kind is rare), and a journey to discovering one's identity but...

Lynn Rush never ceases to amaze me with her wonderful imagination and creativity. Frostbite - Touch of Frost is Lynn's next masterpiece that she has written. This unique and captivating storyline will intrigue you till no end

. This unique storyline, vivid descriptions and crisp dialogue and writing will sweep you along with each and every word and each and every page.

Her characters are well balanced, likeable and certainly giving the readers a vast array of emotions to absorb both to enjoy and ache with.

Frostbite is not your typical boy meets girl - it's so much more. The story i absolutely adored and was Entralled till the very end.

I don't really know what to say. I thought the characters were kind of annoying. I think it fell a little short at times. The action scenes were the only part I liked about this book. Which is why it gets two stars instead one one.

There were times it was repetitive and times where I was bored. Also her relationship with Zach was just weird to me. Don't take that to mean I was bothered about the declaration of love so early. Sometimes that's life. I just didn't really feel it, and I'm not talking sex. They were so hot and cold so quickly. I would have thought giving him time was more than just a few minutes/hours.

This book had a great concept and I thought it was really cool! But for me it fell short. I would have loved less romance and more action! ;-)

Being normal for Amanda and Scott has not been easy. Not when Amanda is able to shoot ice and snow from her hands. Not to mention they have to keep an eye out for the coats.
The Coats are never far behind. But Amanda is tired of running and is ready to fight. She is dating a sweet hottie name Zach. Graduation is around the corner and Amanda can't fathom leaving her best friend Georgia.
Frostbite has likable characters action, secrets and friendship. Great book from Lynn Rush for everyone..

This book was amazing! I couldn't put it down! There were so many levels beyond those first realized as you went through the book. The writing Lynn did made me feel like I was there actually experiencing Mandy's life. It's a winner in my book and now Lynn is one of my must read authors!

I loved the cover. Made me want to get the book. But I was hugely disappointed. The protagonist was annoying and wallowing in self pity a lot. Always expecting the worse of people around her. The instant love was not believable. I like the premise but it failed to delivery. I will not continue reading the series.

This was my first paranormal novel, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Despite her superhuman powers, Amanda is a very relatable, lovable character. Rush made me believe this could really happen. I also enjoyed the fast-paced action and the romance.

Ever since their parents were brutally murdered, Amanda and Scott have been on the run. The same shady science organization that was behind their parents' deaths wants to abduct Amanda and use her in their research thanks to the supernatural powers - superstrength and the ability to shoot snow and ice from her hands - that she inherited from their mother and is struggling to keep control over. Life isn't easy when you're a teenage in small town just trying to keep your head down and make it to graduation with your best friend and prospective boyfriend while constantly hiding the fact that you might accidentally freeze people every once in a while - and that's before the bane of Amanda's existence find her once again. But this time, it's different. Amanda is tired of running away. This time, she'll stand her ground and fight.

This was another one of the approximately half a million Kindle freebies I've picked up over the years and am slowly making my way through, which always tend to be kind of a hit or miss thing. This one was definitely a hit. Fastpaced and entertaining from start to finish, although I do wish the big twist had come with at least some sort of attempt at a more credible explanation than "world's biggest coincidence"... Anyway, a good read.

This was an easy, fast read that got better as it went on, but I'll also admit that, for the first ten pages or so, I really thought about just putting it down and forgetting about, the voice was so over-the-top and things, in generally, so silly. As I said, it did get better, but it continued throughout to feel a little too light and cheesy, and a fair bit too contrived, for me to really enjoy it. By the time I got halfway through, I was engaged and even amused by it, but never to the point where I even considered reading the next book in the series.

If you want a light and fluffy X-Men type tale about a teen girl and her friends/family, then you might enjoy this, but in general, I wouldn't recommend it.

My Summary:
Amanda's mother had super-strength, and the ability to create and manipulate ice, snow, and sleet - abilities she passed on to her daughter, but not her son. The organization that experimented on Amanda's mom, and eventually murdered her, is out to capture and study Amanda too...or possibly kill her if she won't comply. Every time the scientists' henchmen find Amanda and her brother Scott, the siblings flee and have to start over again in a new town. Except this time, Amanda has a best friend and a potential boyfriend, and her brother has a girlfriend, so neither one wants to leave. They resolve to stay as long as they can, and fight for their new small-town life. But some of the people around them aren't who they pretend to be, and Amanda's hard-to-control emotion-driven powers are escalating with her raging hormones and stress level. If Amanda and Scott choose to stay and fight for their newfound happiness, can they really win?

My Thoughts:
There is death-by-freezing in this novel, and Amanda's parents did die a brutal death, but the teenage voice of the story keeps it from reading like angst or tragedy. However, that same teenage tone gave me the feeling of all relationships (other than sibling) being transitory - like they were important and desired, but were just as easily ditched as adopted. The premise of this story sets up the reader to be suspicious of all characters, so I felt just as unsure who to root for as the characters are uncertain who to trust. I kept waiting for everyone to not be who they said they were. It's beautifully written suspense, but it made it very difficult for me to buy into the sweetness of Amanda's budding romance, and the "coincidence" of that romance beginning just as everything began to hit the fan.

The powers were very well orchestrated, with emphasis on the emotions that trigger the powers, and what the powers actually feel like. As the reader, you discover the extent of those powers along with the characters, and can almost imagine the ice growing along your own arm. Impressive.

A surprising theme in this story is love between siblings. Most of the book consists of siblings banding together and taking care of one another. It's endearing, but it can get irritating when you keep waiting for the romance to go somewhere and you end up with "I can't"s and sibling care instead.

I wasn't really reading this story for the sci-fi part, but it does lend credibility to the existence of freezing powers, and adds a sense of urgency to all the happenings in the story. Information about the powers and the organization at large is gradually revealed throughout, but it's not until the big blowout at the end that the sciencey stuff was presented in a way that really mattered to me. The rest of the time were just teases based on flashbacks and fear.

Consensus:
The story is an interesting read, and the powers are well-handled. It's a nice, comfortable story with a fluffy romance. But if you're looking for a high-speed sci-fi chase with a kick-butt boyfriend, this isn't it.

The book is about Amanda, who isn't quite normal… she can shoot snow from her hands. All she wants is a normal life, but having sinister ‘Coats’ the scientists that killed her parents 4 years ago and who are also determined to catch her its not really possible.

Amanda is 17 is living with her brother, Scott in a small town in Arizona. They have been able to stay long enough for her to make friends she even has a best friend called Georgia, She's still constantly on the look out for the Coats, and has to keep control of her powers so not to give herself away.

This book has the familiar theme of the heroine who longs for a 'normal' life - but realizes that in reality she will never get that option, and will have to fight to keep her freedom and her family and friends safe.

The story line although of a similar vein of other YA Paranormal books, was refreshing enough for me to read on and keep guessing, I liked the powers Amanda had, it made for interesting scenarios, there are enough plot twists to keep you guessing. If like "I Am Number Four" by P. Lore, then you are going to love this series.

I was able to imagine all the characters quite well, and the relationships were also well written, it was nice to see Amanda not falling for Zach straight away, I liked how she questioned his motives.

Her Best friend Georgia is the best friend you always wanted, and Amanda loves her like a sister. Scott was a great Big Brother, not too controlling, treated 17 yr old Amanda as an adult really, but I think I would have liked a bit more background information on how and why the 'coats' were after them. (maybe we find out more in book 2)

I also was a bit skeptical about how Scott managed to keep them on the move but still had the money to open and run a Smoothie shop - But all in all the book kept me glued to it for 2 days. And I think the research done on How the powers were given to Amanda's mum should have been more thorough, the science didn't make sense and since her father was an employee of the company, surely he should have researched the test study more before letting his wife participate?

I was lucky enough to be gifted this book for a Blog Tour being run for the Release of Book 2 but I would have bought it anyway if it had come up on my radar. I have read the Author's other series penned under the name Reese Munroe - the Bound By Hades series.

The book is well worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone who loves the YA Paranormal genre but even if you are not normally into this Genre why not give it a go, or any others written by Lynn Rush...as books sold under this pen name, a portion of the proceeds is donated to the American Cancer Society, which I think is a great reason for me to go look for other books I may enjoy.

Well done Lynn, and I LOVE the BOOK COVERS, its nice to see a cover that really shows what the books about (I would love cool hair like that too!)

Received an e-copy of the book for free to write an honest review.
This book was honestly fantastic, I read it in its entirety in one sit in from cover to cover. The character development was really good, although Mandy seemed bi-polar at times with how often she would jump from opinion to contradicting opinion. You do see her mature through out the story, it goes from her wanting to satisfy her selfish desires to her wanting to give up her chance at normalcy for the love of her life. But the relationships are well developed and it's not like a random assortment of feelings. The way you see Mandy and Georgia's relationship deepen and gain that solidity that tells you they are in it together, FOREVER. The progression of the story is well thought out and it's neither 100% predictable or a thousand random twist and turns that add no meaning to the story. As many teen featuring novels have, this story does experience it's momentary cliches. Like the instant love interest that tends to dominate the story (Though no harm done there and actually works really well with the story), the best-friend slash soul sister (I would say more but that would spoil one of the biggest moments in the book though it is a tad random and could have done without the obvious), and the big brother that is willing to sacrifice anything for his beloved little sister that fills the father role in her life (Though it is VERY sweet). Despite the cliches the story is actually very unique, especially as the suspense begins to reach it's peak and the story begins to unravel. The beginning of the story is rather slow, and I was a bit lost since the story just started and there was no clear intro (Though it does make it unique in that sense and you get caught up to speed within the first few chapters as the story progresses). But once the story takes off...phew! It really does take off, I was caught in a whirlwind of action! At first I thought Mandy was kind of wimpy but then...I thought she was rather bad-ass and became one of my favorite heroines out there. As the story moves along, you begin to sympathize with the characters, especially when they hit rather tough spots on the road. One of the best things about the book is how it is so exciting and the characters are ALL so relate-able. I honestly did enjoy this book (Dare I say, I LOVED IT!) despite its minor flaws, that in the grand scheme of things are not all that important. My first thought when I finished reading the book (with its beyond SWEET and rather anti-climatic, but still great ending) was "I need to get my hands on Absolute Zero (The next book)!!!" I really think that had I bought the book, I would not have regretted the money I would have spent. I implore you to give the book a chance, it is 100% worth it.

Frostbite is an upper YA/NA novel following the lives of siblings Amanda and Scott Hillman. It is the sweet story following Mandy's journey as she tries to find her way in a world that she has always struggled to fit into.

All Mandy and her brother Scott really want is a place to finally call home after being on the run for four years following the tragic deaths of their parents. Unfortunately Mandy's super-human abilities that the "Coats" want to either study or destroy makes that nearly impossible.

Shortly after arriving in the small town of Trifle Arizona, Mandy meets Georgia Kelsey who soon becomes like a sister to her. Later, adorable Zach Landry "bribes" her for a date, becoming her first love. Despite the fear of being found, both Mandy and Scott begin to forge relationships that give them a new-found hope in the possibility of establishing roots to gain a hint of normalcy in their anything but normal lives.

Frostbite has many fun plot twists that kept my interest and as always, the action Rush adds kept me turning from one chapter to the next. I enjoyed watching Mandy find the courage to experience these firsts (true love-true friendship) as well as building her skills to kick "Coat booty." Her relationship with Georgia was refreshing since she never had a real best friend before and watching her begin to trust Zach enough to give him her heart was a sweet addition to the story.

If I had to complain at all, it would be about the origins of her gifts. I never quite understood why her mother agreed to be a test subject for allergens in the first place. I get her husband's part in the story since he worked for the company but why she would agree to injections for no apparent reason left me confused (although had she not, these abilities would not be believable). Some of the tech. stuff was later explained, but it still was above my head and frustrated me just a little (I don't like not getting things and felt the need to re-read these parts and look up definitions!). Despite these "technical difficulties," Rush manages to seamlessly weave in this information throughout the story.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel and couldn't wait to go on to read the follow-up.

ARC provided by the author.

Frostbite is the first book in the Touch of Frost trilogy. This is the story of an eighteen year old girl named Amanda, (or Mandy for those who are close to her) who has to live a runaway life with her brother Scott. They move from town to town eventually settling down in a little town. They soon began feeling attached to people in the town that they don’t want to go running when they are found by the people who are chasing them.

I loved this book from beginning to end. The story line, the characters, the writing, everything was amazing. I found myself fantasizing about this story as if I was living inside of it. There were moments where I worried about their future. There was also a part in the book that got me excited about their discoveries. Huge discoveries to be honest, and I nearly melted over what was happening with Zach. The descriptions and action scenes in this book were very well written. I could clearly see every scene in my head.

I like Mandy. She’s an amazing girl. She is a little rebel but is really mature for her age. What I especially like about her is how strong and smart she is and she follows her instincts. She was a little hesitant in the beginning of the book, but she eventually found the confidence she needed and goes for it.

I like all the other characters. Georgia and Zach are Mandy’s rock, as she says so herself. To this I agree with her. They’re both very important to Mandy, not only because of their true friendship but because they are there for her “no matter what”. I also have to mention that Mandy’s brother Scott is the best brother in the world. His love and need to protect her has no boundaries.

I can’t wait to read the next books in this trilogy.

Book Review:

This story is about an eighteen year old girl named Amanda Smith who have the unusual ability to FREEZE people/things. She and her brother Scott are orphans who led a life always on the run until eventually settling in a small town of Trifle, Arizona. Against their better judgement they soon got attached to the town. Mandy got a best friend named, Georgia and got the cute boy Zach as her boyfriend. Scott has a small business running, too. All was getting too good to be true until those who murdered their parents found them. At the sound of trouble, Mandy and Scott usually leave town at the death of the night, but this time around, Mandy decided that she had enough and to fight back in order to protect the people she loved.

This is my first time to read a book by this author and I can say I don't regret reading it. Her storyline, the characters, her way of writing really got me hooked. Mandy is one interesting girl. Although, initially she was reluctant to pursue her "desire" in the end she grab on to what she wants.
Because of her circumstances, she's matured for her age. She's strong, and goes with what her gut is telling her. The story doesn't only revolve around her but also includes the rest of the characters.

I would highly recommend reading this book since there are a of lot page turning events to read from.

Can't wait to read the next books in this series.
