Sometimes Emergency Assistance Arrives Too Late...
Will is stuck in bumper-to-bumper, rush hour traffic, on a Los Angeles Freeway. With no place to go, and at a complete stand-still, he is about to find out an unimaginable truth via a modern safety device.
On Call is a short-film screenplay. It has been altered to contain a bit more detail than a proper script to make reading more enjoyable for those who are not familiar with (or comfortable reading) screenplay format.
Originally from New York City, Brooklyn began writing at a very young age, gradually honing her fiction skills. The reigning Queen of Replica-Rock, she writes, directs, and produces music themed, theatrical stage shows for both Las Vegas Showrooms and Touring Companies. She has written for television and film, and was the voice of radio show, The Truth About Pets&People, where she was billed as the Simon Cowell of Animal Behavior Modification - she wasn't making any human friends, but she was happy to be the voice of reason for misunderstood animals everywhere. Brooklyn currently lives in Los Angeles with Willow, the tenacious Fox Squirrel stealing hearts on his own Facebook Fan Group. She is now writing full-time.
ON CALL is a new screenplay from the very talented Brooklyn Hudson. The story starts out with Will, caught in a traffic jam, on his way home. It is his first day back at work after two weeks at home after the death of his daughter.
Immediately the tale grabbed my attention with the back story and the eloquent way Ms. Hudson has of conveying imagery. I was drawn into the car with Will and I struggled with him as this story moved along. The tension mounted at an exponential pace, and at one point, I could feel my hands on the steering wheel.
You will not be disappointed in this gem. Read this....then read everything else by Brooklyn Hudson.
Although this is a very short screen play, it was packed with lots of chills! It had me from the beginning and I would have loved for it to be longer. But the author managed to do in a short story what some can't do in a full novel! I thoroughly enjoyed this.
This short read will keep you on the edge of your seat! It's captivating imagery and psychological thriller edge kept me wanting more after I finished reading. I fully enjoyed this short story by Brooklyn Hudson and would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants a quick, but quality good read!
I started reading this and thought: cliche. Well, I was wrong. This is a nice piece of very brief fiction. Entertaining. Highly recommended and worth the coin.
A man gets caught in a traffic jam on his way home on the first day that he returned to work after the death of his daughter. As he sits crawling along the road, he has an experience that changes his already tumultuous life.
This is actually a screenplay for a short film. It has been adapted to make it conform to a more familiar form of reading.
While this is a short story, there is a couple of nice twists that will take you by surprise. It is a story that will stay with me for quite a while.
I really enjoyed this story and the only negative was that it was short but I knew that when I got it. I loved the format. Thought it made for a fun quick intense creepy read. I will be reading more of her work.
A hair raising story that will have you wanting to never use any Bluetooth device... EVER again. Me. Hudson seem to have a direct link to my heebie jeebie chromosome. She's an awesome writer and I can't wait to read what she comes up with next.
