what i'm basing my color and design course on. no frills and good examples. and it doesn't spend too long on perspective- bonus.

I think this book is an excellent introduction to design.

I did not have any design training, and was not even really interested by graphic design. Reading this book gave me the vocabulary and understanding to look at a painting and understand _why_ I liked or disliked it. I will be re-reading it shortly!
