Undone is part two in the Billionaire Matchmaker series. Please do not read unless you have red part one, as the events in book one are the driving force behind book two. Note: I rated this book 3 Stars as that is the highest rating I give to short stories of this nature.
Summary:
Chloe Harper can't believe she's sharing her bed with billionaire Jake Powers, let alone that he wants to take her on their first public outing as a potential couple. She's not going to overthink it, but bask in the glow of Jake's attention. Chloe's bright and shiny world comes crashing down at the aforementioned public outing, a charity auction. Jake humiliates her in front of everyone and treats her with a brutish callousness. Jake never expected to have feelings like he had for Chloe, but he wanted to explore what could be. That is, until he found out Chloe betrayed him. Now, Chloe is left wondering what went wrong and how Jake could treat her so badly, but that's not the worst part. The media has got their teeth in the story of the year, and their focus is Chloe. Now, Chloe's business is suffering the paparazzi is stalking her, and the stress is starting to take it's toll on her physically, emotionally, and mentally. Her goal's are to stay out of the limelight, fix her failing business, and move on from the powerfully sexy Jake Powers. That becomes harder to do when bizarrely, Jake starts trying to win her back. Chloe is confused, frustrated, still angry and hurt, and a little bit relieved, but it all takes a backseat when an enemy Chloe didn't see coming, does his worst. Will Jake and Chloe have a chance at reconciliation or will outside forces rip them apart for good?
Again, I liked Chloe. Even more so in this installment, too. She stuck to her guns and held out when all she wanted to do was give in. I'm a firm believer in making a man sweat. Lol. Jake was an arsehole! I couldn't believe he did what he did. I was happy to see him so turned upside down about it, though. I do think I would have liked to see a bit more alpha in Jake's character, too. This tied things up nicely, and it was a sweet, steamy read. I look forward to exploring what more Ms. Baxter has to offer. <3
