Authors and professionals from different fields narrate Lamborghini’s past, present, and future in a totally new way. Over the course of half a century, Lamborghini has gradually established itself as a leader in its sector, perfectly integrating into the culture of its time and becoming a symbol of innovation in design and technology, as well as a veritable phenomenon with regard to culture and communication. This beautifully illustrated book describes every step of the journey, with references to cinema, technology, design, and the work of the men who made their fortune from the brand. A large-format volume with 200 striking color images, brilliantly evoking a surprising combination of tradition and innovation for all those who are interested in design, technology, material culture, communication and, of course, the classic qualities of Italian manufacture at its best.
I am evidently a huge Lamborghini Fan specifically Miura ,Countach and Diablo. This book celebrates at the time of it's anniversary and despite some beautiful full page spreads and photography along with information on some movies with Lambos in it(Indian Summer Is one I got just for the Miura and some others not mentioned in the book.) I feel the book is cheapened by it's material almost like a cardboard book, the cover and the bull is beautiful, it is a hardcover with no dustjacket. the history is presented briefly in various essays of which I feel are out of place for such a Grand Marque's history. Gian Luca Farinelli in particular, some of the comparisons with hideous furniture designs and the beautiful Lamborghini is uncalled for. Interesting photos of the Aventador Launch in my City, However saying Miami Is the Capital of Florida it is not. Blancpain Series pictures are great too, jota Is mentioned but not shown except in a panned out picture of other cars at the celebration and of the car from the rear in the rally. Also why talk glowingly of the unrest instigated by the Local Labor? that's fawned over, the tractor and industrial concerns are mentioned at but not in detail. Talking about the Centre-Left Govt in the 60s as if it was great seemed inappropriate for such a work as is the looking down on Mario Scelba. The book is 183 pages in total, with a cursory glance at it's history but not an in-depth book and sadly in my opinion not worth it's hefty price for such a small and not much exquisite work along with Psychoanalysis which is out of place. Luckily my copy I got for just under 200. It sits in my library but Not one of the Better Histories On Ferruccio's company he built That I own.
This isn't really your typical car book. Sure, it has large, gorgeous pictures of Lamborghini's most famous models, as well as the technical specs for the real gear heads, but what you won't find is an exhaustive history of the company, the cars, or their development. Instead this book contains a series of essays with topics like the history of Lamborghini in cinema, or Lamborghini and advertising. They make for some very interesting reading. If you're just looking for a book that celebrates the cars, you may want to look elsewhere. If you want something a touch more sophisticated this book may be right up your alley.
