The first book in this collection was very good. Most often I determine who the "baddie" is fairly early on. Not this time. Very well written. I absolutely loved the meshing of past and present.
Now, the 2nd book in this collection was even better! The first time I've ever given a 5 star rating. While I knew who the "baddie" was a while before the reveal, I did not expect the fantastic conclusion to the story. I was only vaguely familiar with the history, but one doesn't need to be in order to understand the significance. Wonderful! Bravo Ms. Blake!
These books are average reads. As I got a little way into the first book, I realized that I had already read it. The second one was also average. For some reason historical romances about New Orleans lose my interest. I finally figured out that it's because they are mostly filled with descriptions about the land, houses, surroundings or superstitions Not much romance.
Jennifer Blake can tell a great story. These two contemporary books tell of love, loss, suspense and sacrifice. Wildest Dreams tells the story of Cammie and Reid, and a longstanding family feud. Shameless was the story of Rone and Joletta and a search for a mysterious perfume formula. Both books are so well written with memorable characters and storylines. I highly recommend this collection.
Both these stories were a lovely breath of fresh air. A really enjoyable story with characters I liked reading about and a bit of an unexpected twist. Both stories were very different and both were lovely. I very much enjoyed the twining of the past and present in the second one, though I almost got lost a few times.
I’ve become so wrapped up in the second book that I barely recall the first one. The story of Violet and Allain, told in readings from her journal, was captivating. Another of those where you want to hurry up and finish and yet, you don’t want the story to end. Read this one if you haven’t already.
I preferred the first novel over the second, only because it wasn't as confusing. The two novels are stand alone books without any relation to each other.
Book one was amazing. Camomile and Reid are meant for each other. They take care of each other's demons. And find they are better together. Book two tea rose makes her know just how much he loves her. And everything that violet did was for her love as well.
I read both books within 5 days. Could not put it down. These stories give you a glimpse of real love. I cried and laughed. Anyone who likes a great romance should read these books.
This box set came with two stories of very strong women from Louisiana. Both have to overcome stupid family members and come out the other side better for it.
Jennifer Blake transports you around the world in this volume immersing the reader into a richly detailed world of love where the happy ending feels deserved and not as a matter of fact. Loved it.
