For a Big Little Book about Aquaman, Scourge of the Sea is surprisingly cohesive. Its plot swims easily from Point A to Point B without feeling episodic. Most scenes are pretty dumb, but they make story sense in a way that other Big Little Books don’t.
If I watched this plot play out in a poorly animated Saturday morning cartoon, I’d probably be bored out of my skull. But reading it in a tiny hardback that fits in the palm of my hand? Yes, please.
