I can't wait for this book!

Review to come. Emma! That ending! Computer was almost thrown at the wall.. Who is it?! 2014?! Ah!

So. wow. I had to wait so long for Crest to come out and let me tell you it was worth it!
In Crest Kendra Irisavie is still learning exactly what it means to be the Sondaleur, tracking down the The Shadow, training to be a chevalier, proving she can lead and be governor oh and let's not forget Tristan. *swoon* The warrior Prince that always has Kendra's best interests at heart even when she doesn't realize it. Annnd Julian! He really surprised me in this book. Kendra's not busy. Nope. She didn't really do much in this book but lay around... ;)

Crest is full of so many surprises and Emma does such a great job at giving you all the puzzle pieces and as you slowly put them together to see the whole picture BAM! she smacks you in the face with the answer that you're only reaction can be..

And let me just say that in the midst of all the Chaos that is Kendra's life, time always seemed to slow down whenever she was with Tristan. Can Tristan be any more perfect?! His decisions, his actions, his words.. There's that moment in the book when Kendra FINALLY asks him certain questions and Tristan's answers are just.. [image error]

This is such a good series and all the characters are great. If you haven't read this series then you need to get on it! The next book is Breaker and comes out in 2014. Can't wait!!

This series is one of those hidden gems that I wish more people knew about- I want to shout from the roof and say, READ THIS!! ABANDON ALL THOSE OTHER AWFUL YA'S AND READ THIS! The first book had a shaky start, but Raveling quickly found her style and what emerged was some truly beautiful, awesome writing, and Crest is no exception. What I love about Crest, and the series in general, are those quiet, poignant scenes that really touch your heart. I find myself writing down quotes when reading the Ondine Quartet just because of the sheer beauty in some of the prose. However, there's a lot more to the story than heartfelt dialogue. The story arc is progressing, and there's a deeper understanding of the Selkies and the magical world Raveling created. A ton of kickass action, new lands, adventure, a deepening mystery, and splashes of romance. The cliffhanger at the end is evil!!! Can not WAIT for the next installment!!

There’s nothing that can equal the excitement of reading a series that just keeps getting better and better. This third book in the Ondine Quartet does just that. It left me exhausted, excited, anxious and, for the first time in this series, completely heartbroken. What a rollercoaster ride!!

I’ve always felt that the world-building in these books was very creative and I enjoyed the time spent in Haverleau. But, I never imagined we’d be treated to spending time in the Selkie Kingdom. The opportunity to see the place where Tristan comes from and experience what it’s like to live there was amazing. This new world left me captivated!

Kendra continues to be a strong, fierce character. She’s matured so much and welcomes the challenge of not only being the Sondaleur and a Chevalier, but also the future Governor. This world is at war and she rises to the occasion each and every time. Tristan is as charming and brave as ever…and maybe even more dedicated to Kendra’s safety if that’s possible. Their interactions are wonderful and their relationship, although completely impossible, continues to grow…and, well…let’s just say you might enjoy the new developments. Of course, I was also pleased to see the usual cast of secondary characters stepping in and stepping up to help Kendra. These are some very loyal friends!

Now, let’s get to my heartbreak (because this is all about me after all…lol). Oh, Julian. The circumstances of the world he’s living in and the impossibility of getting what he wants has changed him…he’s no longer the playful, endearing character we’ve grown to love. And I fear for him. I fear that he will be unable to live with the burden of fighting a war and losing what he desperately wants. I have a lump in my stomach that won’t go away until I read the final book…and, even then, I fear the lump will simply move from my stomach to my heart.

This book is filled with adventure, heroes, evil, romance, sadness and, yes, even heartbreak. The storytelling is rich and the characters are vivid. You should definitely pick up this series not only because I know you’ll enjoy it, but also because I have a feeling that I’ll need someone to hold my hand when the last book comes out next year!

OH. EM. GEE y’all! I loved Whirl and Billow (books one and two) and Chevalier and Warrior Prince (the novellas), but Crest blew me the fuck away and reminded me why I totally heart Emma Raveling…not that I could ever forget. I mean I’m the president of the Emma Raveling Fan Club- I’ve got the badge, tattoo, and totally non-creepy shrine to prove it ;)

The Ondine Quartet is one of those series that seriously just keeps getting better and better with each new addition. I walk away from each book in this series completely impressed, thoroughly entertained, and excited for more. Crest, book three in the Ondine Quartet, finds our heroine, Kendra Irisavie, traveling to NYC with Julian to hunt Aquidae and locate the elusive Shadow and traveling all the way to the mysterious Selkie Kingdom…and shizz gets real! Deadly battles, heartbreaking losses, steamy romance, painful betrayals, Crest is filled to the brim with it all and so much more. This book took me on such a complex and enthralling ride through almost every emotion imaginable.

It goes without saying that I think Emma Raveling is a spectacular storyteller. She seriously writes some of this most breathtaking and palpable scenes in YA. Over the course of three books and two novellas she has woven such an intricate and beautiful story that feels truly epic and special. Like books one and two, Crest has phenomenal world-building. The complex and rich history of the Ondines and Selkies and their enemies is explored and laid out even further and deeper in book three, and the social/cultural/political structures of this world continue to enthrall and fascinate. This is a world that, despite its magic, feels so incredibly real, as if Haverleau must exist somewhere out in the real world. With the addition of the Selkie Kingdom, the physical world-building in Crest is by far my favorite so far. This mysterious kingdom is crafted with such wicked cool imagination and striking beauty.

The action, thrills, and stunning twists are plentiful in Crest, but it’s very much an emotion driven story. Kendra, her friends, her family, and fellow people have been through so much up to this point and we really get to see how the events in books one and two have affected the characters and defined their paths. Kendra especially has had so much thrown at her- being the sondaleur and the future Governor, being responsible for stopping the Shadow, and facing devastating losses- and Emma does such a wonderful job of exploring this emotional arc. Every emotion, every loss, every choice has meaning and purpose.

Kendra continues to be one of my fave YA heroines, and for good reason. There is so much depth and complexity to this girl. She is everything a heroine should be (smart, brave, selfless, badass), but is always relatable and real. I love her snarky, smart mouth and temper that always gets her in trouble, her ability to kick ass, and her poignant moments of vulnerability and honesty. She continues to surprise, amaze, and entertain me.

And of course, there are the two swoon-worthy fellas, Tristan and Julian. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, the chemistry and genuine connection Kendra has to both guys and the way Emma Raveling has carefully crafted these relationships makes this triangle feel very non-love triangleish. I love both guys and they are each complete, layered characters on their own, but I’ve so enjoyed their interaction with Kendra since book one. I won’t spoil anything for ya, but I will say that in Crest Kendra is finally honest with herself and with the guys, and where her heart truly lies is revealed…and OMFG, things get HOTHOTHOT *fans self*

And all the emotion, action, and romance lead to one hell of an ending that has me DYING for book four.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS: Crest had me reading until 4 am and blew me away with its awesomeness. I am so in love with this series and cannot wait for the final book (2014 hurry up please!). Fans of the series will not be disappointed by Crest and new readers have an incredible book three to look forward to. A MUST read book in a MUST read series.

"But you're still a player, Kendra." He turned to face me again. “You remain the central character of this story and a narrative has built around you and those in your life."

We’ve come so far since the first book. I remember when I first picked it up, I wasn’t looking for much but I seem to be hooked and with each installment the series gets better and better.

Even with its similarities to Vampire Academy, the author manages to make the series unique and unlike the Covenant series, it didn’t take 3 books for that to happen, the author managed to give this series her own original spin right off the bat.

The main reason I didn’t give this book a four was because of the characters. They have improved a lot since the first book but they still have long ways to go.

Kendra has a lot of responsibilities, not only does she have to deal with being a Sondaleur but now she has soon-to be governor added to that mess. I was actually impressed with how she handled everything and even happier that she wasn’t fighting against her role as the sondaleur even as things got rough. She even pulled off her role as a soon to be governor. My main problem with her was her ‘mommy’ issues. She admits to having them but I really don’t enjoy watching a character run hot and cold. She has matured so much yet she cannot seem to act like a grown up when it comes to relationships. It almost contradicts everything else she does.

I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to Tristan. I am just so confused about him. I like him but at the same time I really just want to punch him in the face. He seems too soft to me. They call him the warrior prince but I don’t see the fierceness of a warrior in him, the strength a warrior has. Although I have to admit, I am pretty surprised by how much of an adult he was when it came to his relationship with Kendra. Yes I know he is an adult but I didn’t expect that kind of maturity from his end.

I cannot make up my mind about the whole situation with Julian. On one hand I am so glad that the author didn’t turn it into a love triangle but I am disappointed by the turn Julian’s character took in this one. He was just so sulky in this one. What happened to the fun Julian from the first two books? Sometimes it felt like the two weren’t even on the same team anymore. Julian seemed to be working against her so much. All because she refused him. I can understand what he did to a certain degree but that doesn’t mean I agree with it.

The author also continued to work her magic when it came to the world building. We FINALLY got to see the majestically Selkie Kingdom.

We also got to learn a more about Jourdain and The Shadow and even though their stories seemed like clichés they were also believable. They made sense.

The plot was well paced. It started off slow but when it took off I could hardly put the book down.

The ending though, it’s one of the best cliff hangers I’ve read (it’s a very odd thing to say I know). The author doesn’t end the book on a heartbreaking note, instead she leaves us with a crucial piece of information, which works in the best way possible to make us excited for the last book.

I really do hope that we don’t have to wait long for Breaker.

Crest is yet another amazing read in the Ondine Quartet and sh*t just got real! Gone is the carefree, act now, think later Kendra and in her place is the more mature, duty bound Governor in training who is now well aware that each and every one of her decisions bears consequences & she must always look to the greater good for the Ondine people. You can really feel how much Kendra has matured as a person in this book, not only in a political sense or her Sondaleur duties but in affairs of the heart too and I feel that now, we begin to see her as someone who could be looked up to and we can definitely see the emerging leader in her. I loved what she went through in this because it gave even greater insight into the Kendra she keeps for herself, the one only Tristan seems able to see. It is particularly emotional when she goes through her magic test and we see how her life has been shaped, how her childhood was savaged by her mother in the attempt to mould her into the person she needs to be. I was with her through everything, totally immersed in her feelings & decisions. I loved the progression of the relationship between Kendra & Tristan, throughout this we get to see that they have very similar stories and are both as deep as each other. Something finally gives between them and it was lovely, it gives them both a piece of happiness in the harsh reality of what’s happening around them and you can feel that they so need each other for support in any way possible, they complement each other in a great way.
The storyline had a lot going on as we go from New York to Haverleau to the Selkie Kingdom of Nome and I loved it all. The change of scenery was great and I love that we finally get to visit the Selkie Kingdom, it’s description is great, the palace, the training grounds, the location… all sound just beautiful and it also showed a different side to Tristan which is always welcome. Crest definitely felt more solemn than the books before but as I said ‘sh*t just got real’ we are in the penultimate book and everything is amped up, there was a sort of desperation on all sides as Kendra and the gang try to uncover a traitor & close in on the Shadow, the Shadow ups his game too – and we all know how evil he is! So expect casualties, expect violence and expect people to get hurt but also expect the good guys to take risks, to protect, to fight selflessly to protect their people & their way of life. Let’s also not forget that Kendra isn’t just fighting the war with the Shadow but also with the Ondine community, in this she becomes the ‘governor in training’ and people are not happy, she has an opposition, every decision or move she makes is scrutinised and dissected and she is judged constantly and the results of that opposition will definitely be felt in this. The trials come at Kendra from all angles throughout this book and it shows her strength of character with how she deals with problem after problem, she gets so many knocks that sometimes I was wondering how she always gets back up again but you can bet your life that she will be just as determined to face everything head on. The ending was both perfect & also shocking but I’ll let you discover why for yourself…. I discovered that I will definitely be counting down the days for Breaker and what promises to be the EPIC final instalment of the Ondine Quartet.

YESSS!!!! thank you emma raveling for being such a kick a** writer!! One of my favorite series, even pushing twilight out of the #1 favorites spot..Im sorry Edward.

Lets start with how I felt when I finally got this book - *does the running man, cabbage patch, the worm, and the macarena* YES. THAT excting!!! AHHH!!!!

I wont summarize it for you because I seriously dont know how to without giving anything away. Im sorry, I su*k.

This book is the gamechanger, for everyone.

Kendra has finally come into her own. We see her mature not only as an individual but also as the Sondaleur, a Chevalier, and the future Governor. Its an amazing period of growth and learning, which I really appreciated. Emma did a fantastic job with this storyline. You will also notice the way its written, Kendras POV is a bit more direct. One of my favorite scenes besides the ones with Tristan and Kendra is when...*Sort of spoiler?* Kendra stands up to someone very powerful, and goes head to head with the best of them. And although she does not come out a winner persay, she still wins. Also, Kendra and Tristan, seriosuly..best.couple.ever!!
I know, totally rambling.

The point is, this book will answer all the questions you've ever had from the previous ones. Want to know what Tristan did for the 6 months he was away? Want to know what happens between Kendra and Tristan? or Julian? Or who the shadow is?

THATS RIGHT FOLKS, YOU READ THAT RIGHT!

Who? is the shadow?

They should of really called this the book of revelations *no pun intended.* (maybe just a little one)

Thats how much stuff we find out. Its like a crash course in Odines/Aquidea/Dessodines/Sondaleur/Irivasie/Shadow/Selikes 101. We find out the reason for the war, the begginings, the ends, the if, when whys and maybes!! We also witness the recall process for into dessodines. Seriosuly, alot happens in this book.

I also have to warn you about Julian. Get ready because Julian does a complete 360 since Chevalier. After that book, it was anybodys game, I was team JuliTris, either one could be with Kendra. Where Kendra grows mature and learns a great many things, as does Tristan...Julian turns into someone we barely recognize. I Apologize if this is a spoiler. Just get ready for that, it hurts. We dont want Julian to be this way but we understand.

Of course, there are a few villans, creating drama and ish but thats just the beggining because..

THE SHADOW.

who is he?

WHERE IS HE?

I cant express enough the supreme OH SH**, OMAGAD, WHAT!!!, HOLY BAL**!!! that I experienced in the last chapter of the book.

Why does the shadow know so much about Kendra? Hes always one step ahead...why????

Because.....the shadow is here, right at the top of Ondine Society.

Always has been.

Always was.

But WOW WHAT AN EDING!!! I will now have to re-read all the books once again to see what clue I missed and see if I can learn the identity of the shadow. Sorry if there are any spoilers, I obviously dont know how to work around them.

Cant wait for book 4!!!

Emma Raveling is back with the third instalment to the Ondine Quartet series, where we see teenager Kendra Irisavie risks her life battling the evil Aquidae by trying to put an end to their leader - the shadow. However, when Kendra's journey takes her to the home of the Selkie Kingdom, it's not long before she realises there is a traitor amongst them and Kendra's determined to find out who it is.

I adore Emma Raveling's work and Crest is nothing short of fantastic! I went into Crest with so many expectations and hopes but Emma really just took my breath away with some of the events that happened. There's so many key elements to this book and the fact that the story is so well written, just makes me love it all the more. While I enjoy some mystery to any story I read, trying to unravel this series is just impossible. Like I said before, the series is written so well that you honestly have no idea which way the author will go. She keeps you on your toes, she keeps it's very entertaining and one thing I love, is how much time and love Emma has puts into her stories. It really reflects in her books and Crest certainly didn't disappoint.

I've always been a fan of Kendra's from the start, I love how she can be so serious but then be fun at the same time. She works hard and although she makes mistakes, she always tries to learn from them and makes things better. This time around Kendra is just full of dedication - dedication to try and take the Shadow down and you can really see and feel how much she's grown since the last book. I think she needed a few knocks to make her see that she needs to work that much harder, because in the end, I do believe all her hard work will pay off and she will become a fantastic leader.

One thing I hoped for before going into Crest was that we would see some more time with Tristan and Kendra together - their forbidden love really is one that plays with your heart, because you can't help rooting for them...and Emma Raveling...completely rocked my world with it this time around. Talk about swooning? I don't think I've swooned so much in a long time. The tension between Kendra and Tristan is sizzling hot, it was nice to see them interact more and actually be honest with one another. There's a few scenes that have fast become favourites of mine, especially the cave scene, but more importantly, that ending! I can not wait - seriously! I've been trying to figure out some possible endings for them but I can't, I'm just hoping they get their HEA in the end.

So in all, Crest is an important and thrilling third instalment - one that proves this series is still going strong, and I'm so glad to be apart of it!

I have to start off by saying I absolutely LOVE this world Emma Raveling created. It's beautiful and moving, dark and mysterious, and feels engrained in history as if it was a myth from ancient times.

This much awaited 3rd book in the Ondine Quartet did not disappoint. Kendra's character is always so great to read from and her growth is massive in this book. Tristan (let's pause a sec so we can fan ourselves) oozes swoon worthiness, dangerous strength, and wisdom that every male should have.

I could reread all his moments in this book again and again. ::sigh::

Crest had more mystery than the first two books and kept me constantly second guessing the motives of all the characters. I loved each and every page of it. If you're looking for a fresh new world based inside our own, read these books!

Can not wait for book 4 Breaker!!!

****Possible spoilers, if you haven't read the book stop*****4.5 out of 5. I hate it when you get stuck on a cliff-hanger, and this is a doozie. Not telling who the shadow is, that was a tough pill to swallow. I love this series, and I am going to be dying waiting until 2014 to find out, is it Julian, possibly could it be Jeeves, but that is just a few to suspect, so I will be wondering, because of the sweet iris? That dang sweet iris. He has always called her, is going to haunt me until, Breaker. Julian is the one that is in love with her, but that doesn't exactly fit with everything I am not sure....Ahhh I am going to be looking forward to seeing what the ending is. This is just a bunch of rambling and guesses, so do not take any of this to heart and take your own guess and read it!

Forewarning: I really, really enjoyed this book; much fangirl-ing and gushing ahead.

Also, characters have developed, therefore there might be light SPOILERS ahead for some. Go finish Whirl and Billow! Now, onward!

Crest was the perfect continuation of Emma Raveling's Ondine Quartet. Romance, action, and intrigue combine to create an amazing story that grabs you from beginning to end, and will make you want the last book even that much more (if you thought that was even possible).

Kendra is perhaps one of my favorite characters in anything I have ever read. She is headstrong and brave but also becoming increasingly aware of her flaws. Her development throughout the series is something to behold. With each experience, good and bad, she becomes stronger and more willing to take on all the responsibilities that were thrown at her in the last two installments of the quartet. And this development would not have been able to happen, and would not be the same, without Tristan.

Tristan is, befittingly, probably one of my favorite male characters in anything I have ever read (power couple!?). While his character and deeds are usually seen in a noble light from Kendra's point of view, Tristan constantly acts in a way that supports all of the trust and respect that Kendra feels towards him. Their relationship in this novel is fraught with many obstacles but works to strengthen their characters both as individuals and as a political, as well as *SPOILER* romantic, partnership.

The other characters are explored in Crest as well. Secondary characters became much more real and influential to me (and to Kendra), becoming friends and allies that are capable of having their own part in the large scale conflict that is being forced upon them by The Shadow. They invite readers to become that much more invested in their actions and the consequences and I cannot wait to see what Breaker will bring for them.

In Crest we are introduced to the mystical Selkie kingdom and I love how Raveling created such a developed, fantastic world. All the societies introduced in this series are great but the Selkie Kingdom has a special place in my heart (as it does on many of the characters). This also allowed for us to finally have Kendra interact with Dax, Tristan's brother, and Ancelin, Tristan's father. We also encounter some more powerful, mystical forces that are tied with the lore Raveling has created around Ondine's, chevaliers, guardinals, etc. and why everything in this world works the way it does. I really enjoyed getting a look at the history of the magic and hints at what is going to happen in order for Kendra to (hopefully) prevail.

One of the things I liked most in this book in comparison to the others are the hints that Raveling has placed as to what is to come. I love trying to figure out all the clues, though for the life of me, Raveling still has me in the dark about what is to come (kudos). Kendra is becoming more aware of the role she is going to have to play, both through her own growth but also through the help of other forces. I can't wait to find out exactly who these other forces are and how Kendra's interactions with them will play out in the final installment.

Overall, I loved Crest (could you tell?). With wonderfully developed, and ever-developing, characters, fantastic world building, and complicated and intriguing lore, this book invites you along for the continuation of Kendra's journey and will make you wait in anticipation for more.

I LOVED this!!!!!! Such huge growth from Kendra in this book! She has truly flourished. I was so shocked and pleased to see Kendra handling everything that she was, with so much grace, and responsibility. She is becoming the leader she was destined to be, and so much more. She is fighting for and navigating her new role in the draining political world. We have seen in the previous books what a fierce and dedicated warrior Kendra can be, Crest really highlighted the fact that she is much more than a deadly weapon. She has a strong political presence and she's making it known. I think it can be said for any form of politics, it's not for the faint of heart or weak of mind. Kendra proves to be neither. She will do whatever she can, and must for the sake of the Irisavies and all the elementals and even associates of the elemental world. She has some great ideas and plans to truly unify everyone and make things equal for all, but of course tradition and traditionalists stand in her way. It's been awesome seeing Kendra finally play their game, and do it so well.

Can we say a big hell yes for getting to see so much selkie awesomness in this book?! I mean it's all about location, location, location. Having this book take place in the Selkie Kingdom was amazing. The selkies have been such an intriguing race, shrouded in mystery. It was kind of like getting to peek behind the curtain at Oz, only the selkies were way better than some old dude pretending to be great and powerful. We got to learn so much about their way of life and culture, it was so cool! Especailly considering that this is the first supernatural/fantasy book that has ever featured this particular race.

We are also closer to the Shadow then ever before in this addition. Come on that ending was EXCRUTIATING!!!!! Two things I have learned in this series thus far, you never quite know who your enemies are, and Raveling doesn't blink an eye at injuring, maiming or completely offing people. Even characters you love! So beware forming attachments, because you truly never know who is the next to plunge the knife in your back or bite the bullet.

I also need to sat how much I love a slow building romance. I love the agonizingly slow and torturous journey to your OTP finally coming together. Raveling expertly weaves this journey in this series. I have to say that I have seen a lot of people talk about a love triangle in this series. I can't say I ever really thought that was the case here. I always felt things would play out a certain way, and I never felt like there was even a choice for Kendra. I thought her feelings were clear from the get go, even when she had trouble admitting them to herself. I admire the way she handled things with both leading men in this book. Gone is the girl that struggles so much with people and relationships. Kendra really stepped up and was honest and mature in dealing with everyone.

I can not wait for Breaker. I so look forward to seeing what happens next in this incredible series! This was the first book in awhile that gave me one hell of a hangover. I couldn't put this down, not when it was time to cook dinner, not when it was time for bed, and not even when I knew I had to work in just a few hours. That next day was a long one, but totally worth it!

Oh my god. They keep getting better! I loved this book. Loved. It. Best in the series so far.
I loved Kendra and her internal struggles with duty vs personal wants. A lot of times this part of the story really irritates me because the heroine waffles back and forth but doesn't really change at all and the thoughts get really repetitive and annoying. Not the case with this one. Kendra actually learned and figured stuff out about herself and the people and the world around her and I enjoyed reading her thought process through it all.
I loved the continuation and development into the Shadow mystery. It just keeps getting better and more intense. (The cliffhanger ending nearly KILLED me. And I think I know who it is but I really, REALLY hope that I'm wrong...)
I loved the selkies and their kingdom. I think I even managed to love Dax and tolerate Ancelin by the end there. I know. I was surprised too.
I liked how good people and characters I liked died. It was horrible and sad but it was realistic and it connected me to the story that much more because I could sympathize with Kendra. And they are in a war after all. Having all the casualties be nameless faces is unrealistic.
I still love her friends (mostly Cam, Alex, Ian and Aubrey. There wasn't a lot of Chloe in this one). I love them more after this one.
I think my favorite character may have been Renee though. Despite the fact that she irritated the crap out of me for most of the book I loved and respected the choices she made and I think her character was so important for Kendra and her own decision. She might be one of the bravest/ strongest characters I've read in a while and I really did end up loving her by the end.
And I loved Tristan. Gah, I love him. I wish there was more of him because he was so grumpy and broody for most of the book. But I suppose that made the mushy moments that much cuter and amazing. And were they ever cute and amazing.
The biggest downfall for this book was that the next one isn't out yet and I will have to wait in agony to find out what happens and who the Shadow is. Ugh.

This was unbelievably awesome! There was not a instant where I felt the story dragged and found myself flipping through the pages of nonstop action and dashes of romance. I love Kendra in this book and the maturity she displays when handling situations. She is such a badass in this book! Though I love Julian, I was disappointed with him and his actions toward Kendra. Their friendship is so sweet and I hope the the next book resolves theirs problems. Julian deserves his happy ending too!

Tristan was absolutely swoon-worthy in this book. I was hoping this book really hashed out the future of their relationship and I was not disappointed! Tristan and Kendra shared some really sweet scenes (the cave scene. swoon) and I'm so glad that

This book was an emotional roller coaster and that ending just about killed me. I'm desperate to know who the shadow is and see if my guess is right!

Wow, this book was amazing! I cannot wait for the last book now. This book had everything you could possibly want and more.
It was one of those books that left you on the edge of a seat, it was shrouded in mystery, and left me wondering who the traitor of the novel really was.
For most of the time, I was like "Is it him?" and then "or maybe it's him", there was so many potential traitors that I kept flicking back and forth to random characters, it made me question every character in the book, which is quite an achievement for an author to do.
It was a perfect balance of mystery, action and heartbreak, I never wanted the book to end.
Emma Raveling is a superb writer and I loved the way she brought the characters to life.
Finally Tristan and Kendra show their true feelings for one another! Their scenes were so beautiful together, it was so captivating.
It was really a roller coaster of emotions and I have to point out that Ewan was such a charming character, that I wish we had heard more of
This book was completely awesome, and that cliffhanger has left me in pain, I want to know who the shadow is! I'll probably become bald before I get to read the next book. I have my suspicions of who it is, there's one person who I deem to be a bit shady, but I'll not mention it, just in case lol

2022:
Rereading these books is such an experience. I really sympathise with Julian and I can feel his heartbreak as it were mine. But at the same time I am really rooting for Tristan and Kendra. And it was really touching reading about Tristans' relationship with his family. The special bond he has with his little brother and the strained misunderstood one he has with his father.
I had forgotten how sad this book was. I cried so much. The relationship between Helen and Renee definitly struck a chord.
"I suddenly though of Helen, hiding behind her tiny camera. The way she filmed and recorded everything as if she might someday forget it."
To see the separation between the two and the loss of a sister was so heartbreaking.
Unlike the two other books I think this book is more driven by the relaitonships the characters have with eachother rarher than the raging war that is going on. And that is what makes the book soo good.

2019:
I love this serie so much! Even if the books are long they never get boring. Loved that almost the whole book took place in the selkie kingdom. The author have built this world so well and it feels so realistic.
Can't wait untill the conclution of the serie!!

Surely when I think the Ondine series can not get any better, Raveling manages to amaze me again.

How much can a character from a book resonate and grow through a series..

I re-read the first two before starting Crest to recall on some of the more detailed aspects and Im so glad I did. Rereading the series has given me the insight to see the flow through the books in a new light.

Kendra is so much stronger, she is still herself and yes she still is stubborn but she also has a lot of revelation in this book. By far the most important ones yet in my opinion.

We get taken to a whole new place, and a game more intricate then I thought we would encounter through her story. I have rarely seen this in YA books and the moral is something a person any age can take resonance from. I will put this aside for my kids to read when they are old enough (this is a promise to them).

On that note, we stop on a major cliff hanger. It's okay as some important dangling ends have been rounded up so nicely it is not leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth but with an adoration and respect knowing we will receive a major finale in the next. I have no doubt of that!

Amazing! I don't frequently give 5 stars, but this was so well deserved. This is definitely the best in the series so far. The book had just the right mix of action and romance. The story development from start to finish was complex but the level of detail was perfectly balanced throughout. Now, I want to reread the whole series again in order to catch all the little details I missed. I laughed and cried. Just perfect!

Thank you to Ms. Raveling for my advance review copy. Cannot wait for #4.

These books just keep getting better and better!!
I am over-flowing with pride for Kendra. She has grown so much, and become such a remarkable woman, warrior, and overall person. She has bested all sorts of odds thrown at her and persevered with flying colors. She humbles me with her dedication to, not only succeed with any and all goals she sets for herself, but also for the loyalty she has for those she protects and the people she'd die for.
I cannot wait to see just how much more she will continue to grow and wow us with her awesomeness.

Wow. Just wow. This book is epic in its greatness. Everything is lined up for the fourth and final book to be mind blowing. Raveling managed to combine romance (swoon!), duty, action, adventure, destiny and mythology into a truly great story! If you are a fan of the series you must pick this up. If you're not then you really need to read the first book and join the fandom! When does the next book come out?!?

LOVED it!

This book was amazing. I was almost dreading it because I was so sure of what the outcome would be but you completely took my breath away with the turn of events.I should stop right there and leave it at that. I should just post my comment and wait for Ondine. I really should…

Fuck the shoulds.
Priceless.

It's so remarkable the different angles this book leads in this ondine journey. Kendra is a much more uplifting. Major cliffhanger will make you want to review several passages.
