"When the fate of one is changed, everything changes. One person changes everything."
Mercy Singer died five months ago, but the doctor’s managed to bring her back. And she was told by her new therapist that it was normal to think there was danger around every corner, and that seeing things was part of the healing process. What Mercy hasn’t told anyone is how vivid her dreams are, how it’s not actually her dying in them, and she also hasn’t mentioned the conversations she’s had with people that vanish.
And when the new boy in town, Tristan Holmes, finds her freaking out in the street, claiming to see a man that isn’t there, she thinks her return to school might have been too soon. Until his sister approaches her, claiming to know what’s going on, and that she wants to help Mercy.
Now numbers keep floating around Mercy’s head, and she knows it’s a countdown to something big. There’s a darkness coming to Balefire Bay High, and she thinks she’s the only one that can stop it.
Miles is a Sun Scorpio with the heart of a Moon Pisces. She began her publishing journey in 2012, admittedly maybe a little too soon. Her eclectic taste comes through in each book she writes, ranging from soft fantasy romances to dark brooding poetry to serial killers that hold a grudge.
this book is amazing! from the first page you get sucked in by the passion, frustration, and paranormal confrontations between the characters. the interaction and suspense that was stacked in a truly wonderful literary way pushed me in an emotional direction i didn't expect. loved the whole thing and hope there's a visit back soon! way to go, Devin!!!
Mercy Singer was the 3rd victim of a serial killer in her small town, but she was able to be revived by doctors as she was found in time. Five months later, she’s headed back to school after recuperating both physically and mentally. However, she hasn’t told anyone – not even her therapist – about her disturbing dreams of death and the people she sees when no one else does. Now she and her new friends, Eve and Tristan, must try to stop the evil on its way as she learns of the part she now plays in the universe.
You can’t escape your fate, except Mercy Singer does by being revived after her murder. What Mercy doesn’t know is she now has a role to play in upcoming events, but right now she’s just frightened by her dreams and the people only she can see. ‘Threads of Chaos’ is an interesting story of the role fate plays in our lives and what happens when fate’s course is changed. Mercy finds her life irrevocably altered and there are plenty of twists and turns for her to navigate. I really like the characters and I can understand Mercy’s emotional rollercoaster throughout the story. I’m very interested in seeing where life and ‘fate’ takes Mercy next. As a side note: I thought Mercy’s last name was clever – Singer, which is the name of a popular sewing machine.
It started out fine. Just so fine, actually, that I could barely put it down. But then, somehow, the details didn't seem to add up quite right to me.
I mean come on...a battle between Fate and Chaos? Wow...that's just really too childish. And then at the end, when you realize that she just basically chose to work with ?!
Something about the story just stopped smelling right ages ago.
Basically: - didn't really like the book after reaching the middle - lacks in-depth knowledge of ESP/PK/ghost-hunting/any supernatural thing in general - after reaching the almost-middle, stopped feeling right - stopped at a humongous cliff-hanger that gives room for continuation
HOWEVER: - excellent post-traumatic stress character - amazing details about dying ;D
Mercy is the third victim of a serial killer. She is revived by the doctor or so she thought. After five months of the incident, she learns Chaos, a spirit entity, brought her back to life with an special gift of seeing ghost and predict the deaths of people. She, with the help of her new friends and ghost aficionados, Eve and her twin brother Tristan learns what her part in the universe is and who her actions change the plan of the Morai or know as The Fates.
Threads of Chaos was an interesting and different ghost story. Easy read, not must of a chiller but I enjoyed it. Mercy's emotion roller-coaster made it seems more real. What with she becoming attracted to Tristan but what will she tell him? How she feels she didn't deserve this gift? Nicely written. It does live a lot of questions unanswered. There has to be a book two, but I enjoyed the ride. 3.5 Stars.
Mercy died 5 months ago, her life ended by a serial killer. She was brought back to life and soon after the strangest things started happening. She starts seeing ghosts, strange dreams haunt her nights, and it all starts counting down to something ominous. Twins, Eve and Tristan, move into town and as "ghost hunters" they try to help Mercy figure out whats happening. Being caught between the Fates and Chaos is a hard when you are trying to stop a catastrophe and save yourself.
This book has a clever plot and likable characters. While the storyline was predictable, it read well and did build a nice feeling of suspense. If you are looking for a twist to your typical ghost story this book is a nice quick read.
Mercy was the third victim of a serial killer. It has been 5 months since she was brought back to life. She is unable to sleep because of nightmares. She slowly comes to realize that Chaos, an entity was responsible for bringing her back to life. He wants her to do his bidding and save certain people. If she fails he threatens her with punishment.
Really enjoyed this. Mercy is a girl who was stalked and murdered, then brought back to life to save others. Chaos loves to interfere with the Fates. In the words of a film " she sees dead people" if you enjoy the Soul Screamer series, get this. Can highly recommend it. Looking forward to book 2 !
Really enjoyed the read. An amazon freebie. The story was fast paced and kept me entertained leaving me wanting to keep reading even after 2am crept by and pushing the need for sleep for another few chapters.
Its not the best but its not the worst thing. I'm not really a fan of Mercy though. I would like to read the sequel, I want to know what's up with Alec.
