Born into a close knit family in Chicago, Michelle Robinson was a star student who graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law. Then in 1992, she married another promising young lawyer and the rest, as they say, is history.
It is undeniable that President Barack Obama has changed the United States but so has Michelle Obama, the self proclaimed "Mom in Chief."

A good look into the personal life of Michelle before Obama and after. It is interesting to know her background, what her life, education, likes, how her and Barack met, her family, and other tidbits play into the making of the woman we know today. Interesting book.
I like this book. I learned a couple things about Michelle Obama from it: 1. When the Obamas moved into the White House, they lived just like they would if Barack wasn't even president. For example, Michelle had the girls make their own beds even when the maid could do it. 2. The Obama family had a puppy. 3. Michelle organized a fitness program for children and is good at hoolahooping. 4. Barack is from Hawaii. 5. Michelle's mom babysat the girls a lot.
I enjoyed this book a lot! I rate this: MUST READ by Sarita Dennis
I really liked this book. I admire how she always worked hard and she is very successful now. It was cool that she graduated from Princeton and Harvard! That would be extremely hard to achieve. It was also interesting that Barack Obama let her decide if she wanted him to run for president. It was funny that she made him stop smoking and buy their kids a puppy if he ran. I thought it was weird that even when they moved into the White House, their kids still had to do chores. I like how the author included some pages on other First Ladies. I would recommend this book.
I wish I could give this book 2 & 1/2 stars. I like the first chapters about her childhood and education. Overall the book focused on her role as First Lady and as the mother of Sasha and Malia Obama. I understand this was a major part of her life for the last decade, but she is not solely a wife and mother. I wish it would have focused on all of the work she did for the many causes she championed. It would have been nice for my daughter and I to read more about the things she accomplished through hard work not marriage and because she bore children.
Michelle was all about her family. When Obama was running for the Senate she told him she would only be on the campaign trail one day a week and that she had to be there for all the kids' events.
When he wanted to run for president she wasn't exactly thrilled but said she'd support him if he quit smoking and they had to let the girls get a dog. Both things happened.
She was a brilliant lawyer and went to school at Princeton. She said that was the first time she actually noticed she was black. She was so used to being surrounded by black people and the white people at Princeton kept themselves separate from the black students.
It was fun learning a bit more about our previous First Lady.
Well it wasn't Becoming, but it was a great look into the First Lady's life. And I leaned that Martha Washington was called Lady Presedentess instead of First Lady. 😜
The Who Is/Was series has always been one of my favorites, and I am glad they are still going strong. Students love reading them and they gain some great information about all types of people. This particular one shares the biography of our former first lady, Michelle Obama. It starts with a description of her at the White House and then chronologically goes through her life, giving the reader some great insight into her life growing up in Chicago. I am definitely going to add this one to my classroom library.
We bought several of these books for my nephew at Christmas and because I've been so involved in politics for the past 20 years my mother decided to buy a couple of them for my library. I knew they were very popular but I was surprised at the great quality and how much information this book carried about First Lady Michelle Obama. There were details I didn't know and I liked there were mini biographies of other important women in history. A bibliography included at the end.
Read this for our Mighty Girl Book Club. The girls are 8-9 years old.
The book mentioned briefly the work that Michelle Obama accomplished before Barack decided to run for President. Much of the book is focused on her support of her husband and his political career. Michelle Obama's health and military family initiatives are also discussed.
This was amazing! I never knew much about Michele Obama! In this book I saw her in another view.... I didn't look at her as the First Lady or a famous person, but a regular person, like people who aren't so famous. But her smartness was amazing!
The book "Who Is Michelle Obama" by Megan Stine is about the life of Michelle Obama. It says how she met Obama. It talks about how she love to excise. I rate this book a 10 out of 10. I liked this book because I could picture it in my head. She had lots of clubs she like to run and have fun with.
My favorite part is when Michelle Obama and Barack Obama got married. My least favorite part was when Sasha and Malia were trick-or-treating and the camera men were mobbing and taking pictures of the girls.
The Who Is…? biography series are perfect for elementary or intermediate age students interested learning about the featured person for an assignment or just for an exciting read. The afterward portion in this edition has a timeline on one side showing key events in Michelle Obama's life and the opposite page shows worldwide key events during the same time period. Making for an interesting comparison and will help readers get a better feel for what else was happening at those times; a cool extra feature I haven't seen in many books. My only negative about this edition in the series is the inserted sections on previous first ladies all throughout the book. While interesting, they should have been placed at the end in an additional part so to not interrupt the flow of information.
While I teach my fourth graders to write famous bio reports, this book is a useful tool to show how to set up a paper and what is considered useful vs. non-useful information. I’m using many of these books as part of my children’s assignment to write a bio.
In this book we meet a young Michelle Robinson and enjoy this informative biography about Mrs. Obama. This is a very detailed book that informs the reader of her experiences at college and how her courtship with the future president happens. This book brings a smile to your face. If you’re looking for a positive role model for young girls who are learning about education, self-respect and family this is it.
l liked it because she is the First Lady and President Obama's wife too.and l like it because she can do a lot of pushups but the thing is she is almost that going to be president with Obama any more because Donald Trump is going to be our new president when every The First Lady ,President Obama and there children leave the White House and l am giving this book four stars because it was really good and l liked it.

I honestly really liked this book. I read this book today during class and i finished it. that shows that i was really into it. this book gets staight to the point and doesn't take forever to to get to the point. it doesnt stretch out the details so it doesnt get me off track. I also liked on how it said what michelle was felling during all of Barracks campains and how she realy helped people in society. so i would reccomend this book to readers who like biographies.
I read this book as a read aloud to my 3rd grade students this past year. We read a chapter or two per day. Both the students and I absolutely enjoyed reading this text and learning about Michelle Obama. The students had many take aways from learning about the importance Michelle's family put on education and learning. It was also a good opener for my students before our unit on biographies. The "Who was.." series is great for young readers and adults, alike.
This is a good book to introduce the concept of a biography as well as cover basic events in the life of Michelle Obama. It's a little syrupy for my taste, but I can see it going over well with 3rd and 4th graders. Since it's a biography, it can also work for struggling readers in upper grades. I also really like the brief bios on some of the other high profile First Ladies.
I liked this book. I'm not really a fan of Michelle Obama. I still like the book though. It's was pretty interesting. I liked how the book tales about one specific day. That was pretty cool. I liked the pictures in the book. I also liked how short the pages were. That's not the whole reason why I picked this book. I picked this book because I would like to lesrn more about Michelle Obama.
This book is a biography about Michelle Obama. It discusses that she is President Obama's wife, what she did as she grew up, what she is like, etc. It says that she graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law. This book is good for students to read because it is an easy read and tells you who Michelle Obama is and what she does in her life.
I think this book is really good because it show how she work hard to improve her life she wasn't rich but by her hard working she achieve what she want.I learned from her never give up even when the situation gets harder.
Good and interesting read. Didn't know she was a mentor to Obama when they first met-and she did legal work for the Barney corporation! Admirable woman! Book focused a bit too much in her fashion-otherwise enjoyed reading about her roles as a mother and activist.
