Trusting Blake is the second book in The Mila Trilogy, with book one being ‘Becoming Mila‘ which was released in June. The plot carries on from where book one ended. Teenager Mila, who is currently staying in Tennessee with her Aunt and Grandpa at their ranch because her film star father wanted her out of the way so she couldn’t spoil his new movie with her outlandish behaviour, discovers that her father has been having an affair with a colleague.
Mila has been in Tennessee for a few months and has settled in, made some good friends, including Blake, when the news comes crashing around her. Her mother is angry and decides to stay at the ranch with her daughter, but it isn’t long before her father turns up, along with his mouthpiece Rueben and sparks begin to fly, leaving Mila caught in the middle.
Mila turns to her new boyfriend Blake. Initially, he is supportive but he has his own issues to deal with and Mila is starting to feel the pressure of a new relationship. Can their relationship survive the outfall or is this the end for them?
I loved book one and couldn’t wait to begin this book. Mila is a troubled young girl. Not only does she have to live in the spotlight because her father is an A-lister, but she also has his PA Rueben breathing down her neck, limiting her contact with the outside world, including her social media, and now her father is trying to ruin both his career and his family. Mila just wants to be a normal teenager, but can’t. But whilst in Tennessee, she has learned to speak her mind and stand up for herself.
The plot is well thought out and contains handfuls of drama, from both family and Blake. It is realistic enough to make you feel emotionally involved. I was rooting for Mila and Blake until they took off to Memphis and Blakes attitude changed, it was as if his true colours were now showing and it wasn’t pretty.
If you love YA romance novels then this is the series to read. Now I have to wait patiently for book three, which will be hard given the ending!!

4 tähteä! Arvasin että tässä käy taas näin. Kamala cliffhanger kirjan lopussa ja seuraavaa suomennosta pitäisi jaksaa odotella taas varmaan ensi kesään. :D Mutta tykkään tästä sarjasta tosi paljon, helppoa, koukuttavaa ja kepeää kesäistä luettavaa. Katsotaan maltanko odottaa kolmannen suomennosta vai tartunko kirjaan englanniksi. :D

Mila & Blake sind definitiv zwei Charaktere, die das Drama förmlich anziehen, das muss man also mögen! Die Geschichte hat sehr viel Drama, aber auch Liebe, Emotionen und sehr realitätsnahe Familienstorys. Vor allem letzterer Aspekt hat mir in diesem Buch sehr sehr gut gefallen. Man bekommt sehr viele Einblicke in die Familiengeschichte von unseren beiden Protagonisten und fühlt vor allem dabei einfach richtig mit! Alles in allem kann ich die Reihe für zwischendurch empfehlen.

Nachdem Band 1 mich positiv überraschen konnte, war ich sehr gespannt darauf, wie es weitergeht. Leider konnte mich Band 2 nicht ganz so sehr überzeugen.
Das Buch schließt direkt an den Cliffhanger vom ersten Band an, was mir gut gefallen hat, da ich das sehr spannend fand. Dann kam die Geschichte nicht so richtig in Gang, es ließ sich aber trotzdem angenehm lesen und ich bin auch wieder durch die Seiten geflogen.
Das Setting hat mir wieder gut gefallen und durch die Ausnahmesituation der Familie kam Spannung rein. Gerade die Dynamik und die Streitereien innerhalb der Familie haben enorm zur Handlung beigetragen.
Kaum war ich mit Blake warmgeworden, hat er es auch schon wieder versaut. Ich musste mich oftmals daran erinnern, dass die Protas erst 16/17 sind, trotzdem fand ich ihr Verhalten teilweise ungeheuer nervig. Ich war auch mal in dem Alter, und ich wage zu behaupten, dass ich nicht ganz so dramatic war. Blake schafft es nicht, vor seiner Exfreundin richtig zu Mila zu stehen und hat es auch gar nicht erst für nötig gehalten, Mila überhaupt über seine Verflossene in Kenntnis zu setzen. Trotzdem ist er natürlich sauer, dass Mila darauf nicht so entspannt reagiert. Mila will Blake mit einer dummen Aktion helfen und es geht nach hinten los - ärgerlich, klar, aber Blake verzeiht natürlich keine Fehler. Ich habe dieses Teenager-Drama tatsächlich als anstrengenden empfunden. Generell hat mir Mila in diesem Band aber gut gefallen, vor allem, wie sie ihren Eltern die Stirn geboten hat.

Eine ganz gute Fortsetzung, ich hatte mir etwas mehr erhofft. Das Ende hat mich eigentlich auch so sauer zurückgelassen, dass ich gar nicht mehr will, dass Mila und Blake sich am Ende kriegen. 😂 Dennoch möchte ich die Reihe zu Ende lesen.

Ich liebe einfach den Schreibstil von Estelle & das von Buch zu Buch mehr! Nachdem ich im Dezember 2022 Band 1 gelesen und schon gemocht habe, war ich umso gespannter auf den zweiten Band. Die erfolgreiche Entwicklung von Mila aus dem ersten Band, zieht sich wirklich super auch durch den zweiten Band. Die Mischung aus Drama und der Realität ist wirklich gut gemacht! Nach diesem Band hat sich mein Crush auf Blake verstärkt & nach diesem Ende freue ich mich extrem auf den dritten Band ! ❤️

tbh ärsytti melkein kaikki täs kirjassa mut silti varmaan pakko lukee se vika osa koska haluun tietää miten tää päättyy. hahmoilla ei oikeestaan ollut mitään persoonaa, koko kirja oli täynnä draamaa ja kaikki kiers koko aika jotain kehää. lisäks dialogi oli tosi puuduttavaa ja ärsytti kaikkien hahmojen väliset suhteet. kokonaisuudessa tosi tylsä kirja :’)

Uma tentativa falhada de ser um enemies to lovers, parece que a autora começou com uma proposta e trocou tudo a meio para além que a história gira toda à volta da mesma situação. Um livro previsível com uma escrita mediana. Não consegui acabar a coleção o que é uma pena pois já tinha lido outros livros da autora que gostei imenso.

Tengo algo particular con este libro, hay momentos tan absurdos que me dan ganas de pegar a los personajes, pero su forma de estar escrito hace que no pueda dejar de leer. Cuando me di cuenta que ya había leído la mitad del libro.
Y aunque yo tenia un cariño por Blake en el anterior libro, en este simplemente lo empecé a odiar, tenia que ser tan hombre, muchos momentos sentí rabia había el y también a Mila con su faceta inmadura.
Lo que si debo reconocer es el drama que existe que lo hace simplemente imposible de soltar, incluso en su final con una frase me rompió el corazón.
Y aunque yo tenia un cariño por Blake en el anterior libro, en este simplemente lo empecé a odiar, tenia que ser tan hombre, muchos momentos sentí rabia había el y también a Mila con su faceta inmadura.

Although this was a bit of a slower story than Becoming Mila, I loved that it picked off right where we left. There was so much drama between the families and the end quarter was so dramatic!!
Honestly might be an unpopular opinion but Mila absolutely deserved that ending, she became soooo unlikeable towards the end.

3.5 ⭐ pidän perhedraaman lukemisesta ja se oli tässä mielestäni uskottavaa ja hyvin kuvattua. Juoneen dumpattu kolmiodraama ilkeine ex-tyttöystävineen oli minusta taas turha kuvio.

tää toimi äänikirjana tosi hyvin! koukutuin heti ihan täysin, vaikka mila ärsyttikin hahmona lapsellisuutensa takia. muut hahmot oli vähän kiinnostavampia, mutta oikeestaan vaan ihanan kliseinen juoni ja sen käänteet sai mut pysymään kiinnostuneena.

Druhý díl téhle létem prosvícené série se mi nejdřív vůbec nelíbil. Přišlo mi, že to ztratilo to kouzlo humoru i tu úžasnou atmosféru léta a feel good YA, kterou první díl měl. Do toho to jen servírovalo absurdní pravidla rodinky z Hollywoodu a ne moc uvěřitelný vztah teenagerů, který nedostal ani prostor fungovat, než bude nefungovat. Byl jsem přesvědčený, že se do třetího dílu ani pouštět nechci. Někdy od druhé poloviny mě děj ale chytil - autorka dokázala v posledních padesáti stranách “idylickou” situaci tak zničit nejedním dramatem, že se nakonec na pokračování těším. Poslední věta - můj konec!

But once again, the book was amazing. I missed Mila and Blake sooo much and I was the happiest girl in the word when i finally read this book. Their relationship is the cutest ever and I’m never getting over it. We can see how much Mila’s growing up and i’m like a proud big sister.

Wo Band 1 der Mila & Blake Trilogie süß, humorvoll und einfach leicht ist, ist Band 2 #CountryDreams viel ernster mit eindeutig schwierigeren Themen. Nachdem Band 1 mit solch einem Knall geendet hatte, war es mir schon fast klar, dass Band 2 ernster werden würde, jedoch hatte ich nicht so viele ernste Themen auf einmal erwartet, denn irgendwie kommt es hart auf hart und für Mila ist dieser Teil der Story definitiv nicht leicht. Einerseits vermisse ich etwas das Leichte und das Flirten, die süßen Annäherungen zwischen Mila und Blake und den ganzen Spaß, andererseits freue ich mich aber auch sehr über die Dinge, die in diesem Band passieren, nicht weil ich Mila leiden sehen möchte - ganz im Gegenteil! - sondern viel mehr weil #EstelleMaskame ihren Charakteren ein wirklich richtig gutes #characterdevelopment mitgibt. Mila ist in diesem Band so viel erwachsener geworden. Aus dem bockigen Mädchen mit Hollywood Allüren, ist ein freiheitliebendes Mädchen geworden, dass nicht nur ihre eigenen Entscheidungen treffen *will*, sondern auch *kann*, weil sie ein Gespür dafür hat was fair und richtig ist. Das hat mir wirklich gut gefallen!
Ich bin mir auch am Ende dieses Bandes nicht ganz sicher was ich von Milas Eltern halten soll, denn auf der einen Seite, kann ich weder ihre Mutter, noch (oder ganz besonders) ihren Vater wirklich leiden, auf der anderen Seite würde ich auch wirklich gerne die Geschichte aus ihrer Sicht lesen oder sogar mehr über ihre Vergangenheit erfahren.
Und was die ganze Lacey-Sache angeht... ohjeeeee. Das ging wirklich in gar keine schöne Richtung! Und wie um Himmels Willen soll ich nun nach dem Ende noch bis Januar durchhalten? Das wird definitiv keine schöne Wartezeit.
Aber was soll ich sagen? Die Reihe lohnt sich! :))

〰️E puff, tinha de acontecer alguma coisa de muito forte no paraíso para ele abanar. Que até me apertou um pouco a alma.
〰️Continua a ser um romance leve, que nos agarra e conquista a cada página lida. Carinhoso, cheia de ternura, aqueles amores profundos de adolescência que nos fazem sonhar.
〰️É visível o crescimento de Mila ao longo deste livro. Deixou de ser alguém contido, fácil de manobrar, para alguém com um pouco de postura de vontades. Desafiadora e a lutar pelo que quer.
〰️Blake é sem dúvida o Blake, além que se começa a ver que tem ali algumas coisas bem guardadas no seu íntimo.
〰️As relações familiares estão ali pela hora da morte. A relação dos pais da Mila é como muitas outras, cheias de segredos e inseguranças, o que causa ali vários conflitos. A separação dos pais do Blake acaba por deixar ali marcas, mas talvez mais pelo comportamento da mãe para com ele. E sempre complexo as relações familiares e acabam sempre por poder deixar a sua marca.
〰️Esta muito boa esta história e, sim, estou louca para ver como termina com aquela esperança firme de saber como termina. Por vezes sabe mesmo bem ler estas histórias leves e com um romance tão bonito e simples. Aquece a alma.

Finding out that her A List actor father has created on her mam, and is about to bring an entire world of problems on her summer, is something that Mila Harding didn't need. She was finally finding her place in Fairview, Tennessee, after being exiled for causing scandals for her father on the brink of his latest film promotion, and is happy with her friends, and especially Blake. Now she needs to cope with having her parents, aunt, and grandfather in the same home, escaping the glare of the press to spend time with Blake, and overcoming her jealousy over Blake's ex hanging about. Can Mila deal with the stress, or is her summer doomed to be a calamity of crisis?
After reading Becoming Mila, I knew I needed to read more of this series, so was overjoyed when my review copy arrived. Mila as a character and person, was fantastic. I loved seeing how her growth from the very first scenes of book 1 was still awe-inspiring, and she was really coming into herself, and discovering who Mila is, when she's not the daughter of the famous actor. Honestly, being away from LA, form the glam lifestyle, and to an extent, from her parents, did her the world of good, and I was so pleased that she didn't let her parents return into her life, with all their scandal, ruin her progress. Her and Blake were a fantastic couple, and they really dealt with a lot this summer, but became closer because of it. I do wish we saw a little more of Mila's friends, but overall, it was a perfect sequel to Becoming Mila. If you've read the book, you'll know how heartbreaking the ending is, and I'm not too sure if I can wait for book 3! Another great book from Estelle!

If you've read the book, you'll know how heartbreaking the ending is, and I'm not too sure if I can wait for book 3! Another great book from Estelle!

A super easy and light read. I read the first Becoming Mila novel about 18 months ago so I struggled to connect to the plot line as much as I would’ve a year ago. That being said, I definitely had a resurge of attachment to these characters and the setting as I progressed in my reading. I think it’s hard to go wrong with a wholesome YA romance - there’s not much to it, but we love it for that!
Though, I couldn’t help but feel like this book had “second-book-syndrome” (is this a thing or has my sleep-deprived self made it up? Who knows) in the series. It very much felt like a filler, or novella, building up to the grand finale of the final and third book in the series.

Estelle bestie, what was that ending?
Loved it!! So great to see Mila taking control of her life and also so refreshing to see the ex girlfriend put in her place for once. Blake is dreamy as ever and the family drama is just *chef’s kiss*
So excited to find out what the future holds for Mila and Blake?!?!

Pero es que es un libro adictivo✨
El libro comienza justo donde termino el primero, Mila se enfrenta a todos los problemas familiares (y le vamos agregar los problemas con Blake)
En este libro algunos secretos saldran a la luz, que tendran consecuencias sobre Mila😢
Tambien, podemos saber que Blake si o si quiere seguir en el camino de la musica country✨
Se lo recomiendo bastante para leer en verano💋
