Seeking Havok

Rate this book
Her life is just as messed up as her name.

All she wanted was a friend---one that knew her and not her circumstances. She needed somewhere to call home. Hers was an open door for countless men looking for the services her mother offered them. She camouflaged herself against lockers and blackboards to avoid the stares and whispers at school.

And then she found Cal...and Fade.

Cal lives like Frankenstein, rising at night to work and just trying to make it until dawn. He avoids most relationships, afraid of the things he will be asked to do. He moonlights as Fade, a radio station DJ who spends hours counseling his peers on their troubles. It was all mundane until Jocelyn called the station.

Cal and Havok pursue a friendship.

Jocelyn and Fade pursue a relationship beyond the confines of the radio waves.

But when Havok disappears, Cal will find that Havok has been guarding a lifetime worth of secrets. And when Fade and Jocelyn’s all night phone conversations cease, he finds a link between them he never saw coming.

Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

Seeking Havok photo 8828149e-e42e-4a4e-9836-e2e31a69a78f_zps04c3c610.jpg

Seeking Havok is a YA book. At times it’s light and sweet, it’s got a lot of funny in there, but it also has a some darker material (especially compared to Felix other works). Two lovable main characters, an interesting story line, an enjoyable read!

Havok’s life is as screwed up as her misspelled name, but she is used to it by now. As an almost 19 year old senior in highschool, she has been dealing with her mother’s downward spiral for years. Her mother is a stripper (who makes other cash on the side to support her drug habit). Havok stays out of the way, sleeping in the closet, getting lost when need be and working her paper route. She concentrates on school, her AP classes and getting a scholarship. She will never go down the same path her mothers on. She has her best friend Ali who helps her out occasionally, but other than that, she is on her own.

Then there is Cal, or Fade. Fade works as a very popular night time DJ. Day in, day out, he gets up late, goes to bed in the early morning and just keeps going. He feels his life isn’t what is should be. The saving grace is his show. His callers. They call, ask questions, ask for advice. Thats what Fade is good at. Fade and Havok meet while she is working and he’s getting coffee. He sees her once, then he sees her everywhere. He can’t stop thinking of Havok and wanting to spend time with her. It’s difficult with their schedules, and there is also the fact she doesn’t open up to him. Not to him, not to anyone. One night, he gets a caller that he’ll never forget, one who sets him straight.

 photo fd180ae8-f2be-44c8-bf62-d98639cf235f_zps9c857d84.jpg

Fade can’t get this girl out of his head. Between Havok, and his caller Jocelyn, his head is spinning. The closer that Havok and Fade become, the more he likes this girl. Wants to help her, be there for her. Havok is so secretive. He feels like he knows nothing about her. He tries to get her to open up to him, but he only gets a little at a time. Then one night Jocelyn calls again. To tell Fade about her friend Cal who has been helping her out. Fade is completely shocked, but it all makes sense now. Fade struggles with telling Havok he knows her story, and even though his name is Cal, he is Fade....

Lila Felix writes the best and sweetest guys! Fade was no exception. I just adored him. He had a bit of a savior complex in general, but he truly just wants to help people. He had the biggest heart and the kindest nature. Every time I read a book by this author I think ‘where were these guys at when I was dating???’ Love them! Havok was a strong character. To endure all that she went through, wow. I can’t even imagine. I was happy she had Fade, someone to care about her and who wanted to take care of her. She’s never had that before. Like I said earlier, this was cute and funny, but it also had some darker material. Between Havok’s living situation, her mothers profession, and some crazy things that happen to her towards the end of the book, it is definitely not all light.

Havok Jocelyn Daniels.
Doesn’t really roll off the tongue, huh?
Maybe it would roll off a cliff.
Maybe I’d push it—just a little.

***

If not for the kindness of others Havok Daniels would have starved a long time ago...among other things. Life has not been kind to her and her mother...lets just say she won't be winning mother of the year any time soon. That woman is something else. More worried about her next fix or how much she will be getting for the spreading of her legs, than she is worried about her daughter and if she has had dinner or not. Or adequate housing. Or clean clothes to wear. Or a good education. Yeah, I could go on and on about that lady. But I will refrain. Maybe.

Havok on the other hand is such a great girl. She is a broken girl, but kind and caring none the less. She has always played the parent to her mother; cooking, cleaning, caring. All that when it should have been the other way around. Lord help me, that woman needs her mother card stripped from her and should be locked up for good. I loathe her and think she deserved everything she got handed to her. Ok, maybe not everything. No one deserves the lot she was handed. But still.

Cal/Fade is everything a guy should be. Take note boys. You want to know how to treat a woman? Follow his lead. He treats Havok the way she should have been treated all along. He makes sure she is fed and safe; things she has always had to work for. Things that others take for granted. Finally a guy that is sweet and kind...not the douchery types we are all used to reading lately. He proves there are still men out there that care enough for a girl to want to the best for her. Even if it means he hurts instead.

And then comes the ending. I (like every single one of her books) finished with tears. At one part, there may have been a bit of ugly crying going on. Cal does something totally selfless and puts Havok's well being first. Then we the actual ending came up...you guessed it. More crying. All good crying...but still crying. I don't think I have ever ended one of Lila's books without a least a tear or two in my eyes.

Although this story gets pretty deep and dark at times, there is goodness and light found, too. Those times when Cal is desperately seeking out the real Havok, is some of the sweetest parts. There is definitely some romance (Lila Felix would have it any other way) and it is done to perfection.

With each book by Felix, I always seem to find my new favorite. And this one has proven to be just that: my new favorite read. I wholeheartedly recommend this read to anyone and everyone. I could sit here and ramble on a few more paragraphs, but I will let you read it and decide if you think it was as great as I do. I am betting you will. Thanks for another emotional, romantic read, Lila!

Fav quotes...

“I want you to kiss me because—because I’ve needed to know what you taste like since I saw you staring at me in front of the bakery.”
“That’s my girl.”

***

And my Havok could take on the world with the strength in her little toe. Havok, just Havok, she wasn’t mine anymore.
I needed her. I needed her folded in my arms at night. And I wanted to wake up to her grumpy scowl in the morning. Our roles had switched. She didn’t need me anymore, but my need for her was almost overwhelming.

A name that not only portrayed a troublemaker, but one that was clearly spelt wrong..

"I'm sure the bong my mom smoked just before she went into hospital, whilst in labor didn't help the name choice."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Her life is just as messed up as her name..Havok is a girl who spends her nights trapped in her closet with her headphones on so she doesn't have to hear the unsavory things her mother does to make a living..It wasn't the dancing that made her mother a less than unsavory role model, it was the drugs and the prostitution on the side..

I really had no idea what I was walking into reading this book, with every aspect of Havok's life this book could have become a dark gritty read, but it was just so beautifully written..You would think that with all Havok had to endure she'd be this broken down human being with trust issues and fears etc, but that's not the case, I found her to be such a strong quick witted sassy mouthed loveable heroine, I loved all that was Havok!! But don't get me started on Cal aka Fade, he was perfect for Havok in every way!!

From start to finish my eyes were glued to my kindle, I will say though it has left me wanting more, there has to be another book surely?? (Fingers x)

**An ARC was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**

What can I say....Lila has done it again. I actually think this is her best book to date. This book captured my attention from the very first page to the very last page. I finished reading this book in less then a day. It was so good I didn't want to put it down. Havok and Fade captured my heart right from the start. I connected to these two characters....they just suck you in. This book was a typical Lila Felix book, by which I mean it was a clean read without a lot if outside drama added in. This book did touch on a touchy subject of neglect and some type of abuse...even though it wasn't physical, Havok still went through he** with her mom. I loved the flow of this book...it made it a quick read.

Havok I have to say is probably one of my favorite characters that Lila has created. My heart broke for her so many times while reading this book. She was such a strong individual but she was also so broken. What the life she had to endure with her mom was horrible. I crossed my fingers through the whole book that things would work out for her. If you're wondering how everything worked out for Havok...you'll have to read the book. When it came to Fade...he was also one of my favorite heroes that Lila created. He was totally swoon worthy. He cared so much for Havok that you could feel how he felt throughout the whole book. The way their relationship was created and watching it grow felt believable to me. I loved that they started as friends and eventually grew to more. Havok had so many demons she needed to face before she could ever really give herself to another person.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a clean but heartfelt love story. This story was about finding love and learning to forgive yourself and moving on.

There is something about Lila's writing that just sucks me and holds me there. I can not quite place what it is, but she is quickly turning me into a Lila addict. The premise of this book was really pretty depressing. Havok's life is horrid, yet this book while honest and hard at times is anything but depressing. I loved how strong Havok was. What I loved even more was this book was not about how insta love made her live all better. It also was not one of those first comes sex/lust then comes love books either. While Havok's story was less then sweet, the love store was super sweet and one I will probably read again. Admittedly, some of the things that happened in this book were a little far fetched and unrealistic, but being fiction that did not bother me at all. I was so engrossed in the story that it actually did not cross my mind until after the book was over. If you are looking for an NA read to escape into, I would really give this one a try. This novel stands alone and is not a cliff hanger. Love that!

Ask me all the ways I love me some Lila Felix and I'll tell you. The girl doesn't know how to write a bad book.

Ask me all the ways I loved this book and the swoony Fade and the tortured Jocelyn. Perfect how this couple was so awesome together.

This is the first book I have read by Lila Felix and I must say that it most definitley will not be my last. Ms. Lila had me hook, line and sinker from the very first page. In fact, I read the entire book in one day.

What kept me so captivated by this book... well first off it is a brilliantly unique love story... a story of determination and survival. Much different than a lot of others out there. The book draws you in so flawlessly to where you find yourself painfully rooting for the happiness and success of the two main characters.

You cannot help but to fall in love with Havok and Cal/Fade. They are both strong, independent and determined yet very sensitive, loving and caring. Havok, coming from the most deplorable home life imaginable, is a fighter. She knows what she wants in life and is able to overcome all adversity.

Cal/Fade is the perfect guy...however seems to be struggling a bit just to get through the mundaneness of life... that is until he meets Havok...instant connection. Their chemistry was undeniable. I love how kind and caring Cal/Fade is. He will go to great lengths to help and protect Havok...even if it means he gets hurt in the end. Their relationship is emotional and real.

I truly loved this book and would love to see a sequel to this story. Either way though...I am now a loyal fan of Lila Felix.

If you enjoy a story that is heartfelt and full of hope...look no further. I highly recommend that you put “Seeking Havok” on your “to read” list...if you have not already.

PICK UP THIS BOOK!! GO, I'LL WAIT.

One of the smartest things I have done, when it comes to reading, was to buy this book last night and then pick it up immediately. I read it in less than a day! I knew nothing of this book, other than I had read the synopsis. It was really so good! So worth $.99! One of the best books I have read this year so far!

I LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!

Humour: 1/10
Jealousy: 1/10

Extra book Details: Stand-alone. HEA. Epilogue.

Havok spends her at home cleaning after her Mom and listening to the radio. Her mother is a stripper/hooker/drug-user and is pretty nasty to Havok. The only thing she gets from her Mom is the feeling of being needed. At night she tunes in to Fade, a local radio host who is also an agony-uncle, his voice and songs become her refuge.

Cal has seen Havok around, eager to get to know her, they become friends. After his ex-girlfriend went all fan-girl on him, he told himself that he was going to keep his alter-ego Fade a secret from Havok. But he knows Havok is also keeping secrets from him, he'll take whatever he can get from her.

The beginning drove me a little crazy; the inner-monologue switched from one thought to another very quickly. And there was too much 'she went to the library, she did something there, then she went to the bakery, she did something there, then she went home, she cleaned, then she went and met her friend, then she walked down the street, then she went back to the bakery and did everything all over again'. It was saved by the introduction on Cal's POV and her phone call to his radio station.

I didn't like: It was made suitable for 16yrs+. Though I might have enjoyed it more if it was more 18+... a little darker, sexier and gritty-er. Little more danger. The beginning as I’ve said.

I liked: The unique situation, Cal's devotion, he wasn't an emotionally stupid guy, he wanted to protect and take care of her, he was tremendously patient, even though she wasn't forthcoming.

Title: Seeking Havok
Author: Lila Felix
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Format: Ebook
Pages: 270
Rating: 5
Heat: 2

Thoughts: Wow, this was so intense but so good!! I stayed up past my bedtime to finish this (lol 4:30am comes pretty quickly) but I couldn't put it down! This is a story of a very broken girl that lives with her mom but doesn't get the benefits of a normal parent. Constantly hungry and wandering the streets while her mom sells her body for coke, Havok has learned to be very independent and distrusting. With only one friend, who's family is HUGE, she at times find shelter there but the feeling of being a burden keeps her coming back to her mom and taking care of her. That is until she meets Cal, who doesn't know anything about her life and sees her for her. Keeping her friendship with him secret, just so he doesn't get taken away, she finds out what loving someone really means. But once the secrets start spilling, Havok runs back to her mom and into trouble.

I loved this story, the OMG moments and the fact that, sadly, there are people that live like this. I laughed at the six degrees of separation, that this world is so big yet so small. I must read!!

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Just when you think that Lila has written her best work in her last book…….Man did she fool us!!
Seeking Havok is one of those books that has you wanting to chat with your friends about and make sure that everyone you know who reads books, adds this one to their libraries. I could not put this book down once I started it. It is definitely a page turner and will not disappoint.

Havok Jocelyn is a girl who lives in a crummy apartment with her mom who often brings her work home with her and it leaves Havok to being stuck in a closet to sleep & music to take away her pain of living like this. At night to drown out the sound she listens to Fade who is a local DJ on a night time program answering callers questions about relationships. Havok has dreamed of Fade for years and hopes to one day meet him in person. Little does she know, her Dreams are about to become Reality and she will not even know that he is in her life deeper than she ever dreamed he could be.

Havok has a paper route she does at night and one of her stops is a local bakery were not only does she deliver papers to, but she works for food by taking out the trash after school on her way home. Out of the bakery walks the hottest guy Havok has ever laid eyes on. She catches him staring at her and says something sarcastic that only catches his attention more. Havok likes going unnoticed in everyday life, she wears baggy clothes and always hides her face behind her hair and with her head down. Always being told she is nothing and will amount to nothing, has made it hard for her to accept that she really is a Beautiful girl on the inside and out.

Fade really loves his job as a DJ on his nightly show. He hates having to wake up at ungodly hours of the evening though. He stops by a bakery sometimes on his way in to work to grab some Pastries and Coffee to help get him through his nights, never did he think that on this particular night at the bakery that he would see the one woman who has made his heart beat a little faster.

One night while listening to Fade’s Show, Havok has decided to call in to the show and tell everyone listening that life is not all Peaches & Cream like they are all making it out to be. When she is asked for her name she tells Fade, Jocelyn since her name is kind of hard to hide behind. Jocelyns confession has really got Fade & the other listeners concerned for her. She said there was a man following her everywhere she went.

Coming home from work one morning Fade comes up to his door and there asleep on his mat is the one girl who he NEVER thought he would see sleeping on it, Havok. He takes one look at her face and feels like he needs to protect her with his life. Something about this woman sitting before him has him intrigued and he hopes by inviting her into his house, she will open up a bit more to him.

As time goes by, these 2 have developed a close friendship that Fade is hoping will turn into something more. When Fade first met Havok that first night, she asked him for his name and he told her Cal. He was hoping that Havok could really learn about the real Fade instead of jumping to conclusions and falling for the man behind the voice on the radio. Havok has no idea that she is staying at Fade’s house and he has no idea that Jocelyn is really Havok.

One night Havok calls into Fades show and lets him know that her life is changing and turning around for the better and that she may actually be happy for once. When Fade hears her say she is living with Cal, it is like his whole world has come crashing down around him. It is like she is living a double life and he doesn't know how long he can keep this secret in.

Havok starts to feel like a burden to Fade and winds up leaving his house one day while he is at work. She has no idea that this may be the last time that she ever sees him, or well anyone in her life ever again.

Fade has taken it upon himself to go on a full out search for Havok. He doesn't understand where she could be and what he has done so wrong to make her leave. He thought that things were good between the two of them. Will Fade ever find Havok or will their one chance at true love be gone forever…….

ARC Review

It is no secret that I am a huge Lila Felix fan! Love her writing style, and the raw emotions she evokes through her words. I love her books so very much, and Lila just keeps getting better with every book she writes. As of today, Seeking Havok is now my favorite Lila Felix book. I absolutely loved it that much.

Havok's life is not what most of us would think of as "normal". Her mother will win no awards for "Mother of the Year", that's for sure. Yet Havok is strong and she is determined to have a better life. Havok has few people in her life that she can count on, her best friend Ali is pretty much it. Other than a few people who help her out here and there with her job, and such, the only company she has is the voice of Fade, one of the local DJ's who works the night shift.

Cal works late nights and has no life. He gets some time with his best friend Jett on his days off, but other than that he's just trying to get through the day. That is until he sees Havok. He doesn't know why but he is drawn to her and wants to get to know her, which is not an easy thing to do.

What I liked about the book: As always, I loved the fact that I laughed out loud, I got angry, and I cried. Reading this made me feel nostalgic, it brought back memories of when my own girls were teenagers; remembering some of the issues I watched a few of their friends go through.

What I didn't like about the book: I would have liked a little rougher closure in one area - but that is all I'm going to say about that for now...I might provide more details once the book has been released - please note this is just because I really was angry about this part not because it was needed to make the story better.

Would I recommend this book: YES! It is an amazing book!

Personal note: If you have teenagers, read it - this is a fictional story, but someone your kids know may be going through stuff. Let this be a reminder that you need to show love to those who come into your care.

This was more like 4.5 stars for me. A really well written, interesting book about a girl living with her drug addicted, prostitute mom who really develops somewhat of a Stockholm Syndrome. Even though the girl's life is terrible (she lives in the closet), never has a decent meal, and is hassled by her mother's pimp, she dutifully gets her mother up every night so her mother can make it to her stripper job, cleans up the sheets and the house after her mother's night full of johns, and leaves the house, sometimes all night, when her mother asks her to because her mother needs the apartment empty for her "clients". Life is horrible but its the life she knows so she stays.

The girl listens to a overnight talk show host named Fade who helps call ins with their relationship problems. She begins to call in using a false name and tells her story anonymously. The DJ Fade is a very caring soul and he listens to her and tries to help her. Unbeknownst to each of them, they already know each other but it takes awhile to make the connection.

There are some really ugly parts to this story but it is not "steamy" at all in the usual sense of how I use that word. Certain parts of the story are a little too conveniently coincidental but overall this is a great story and I didn't want to put it down.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

It’s possible Lila Felix has been hanging out with the villains of Once Upon a Time because each and every time, she manages to reach a hand right in and give my heart a big squeeze! And Seeking Havok is no exception.

“I wonder if her mom is an X-men fan” I can’t help but wonder to myself as I’m reading(they take on a life of their own, and I wonder about weird things like that about them). Somehow Havok remains a strong smart-assed personality after years of severe neglect, with only her closet and her friend Ali and to keep her sane (it may seem silly, but anyone who’s had a closet of solitude can attest to how comforting it can be.) I called them early on, but it was still fun to see all the interconnections between Havok and Cal’s lives play out, like watching dominoes get set up and them fall. Although one of them I did not see coming in the slightest, and what a shocker that one turned out to be!

All in all Seeking Havok played havoc with my emotions as it wove a sweet story of love amongst drama, tragedy, and emptiness. If you love stories that remind your heart what it’s doing up there, this one is for you.

ARC Review:
Havok's name is the least of her worries, babysitting her drugged up mom, sleeping in the closet & leaving the apartment for days while her mom "entertains guests" is a typical day for Havok. Her only solace is listening to Fade, her favorite DJ's soothing voice helping listeners with their problems. That is until she meets Cal *sigh* Cal is shelter from the dangerous cyclone Havok's life has become. He's willing to love her if only she'd let him into her guarded heart.

When Havok disappears Cal, seeks her out uncovering secrets better left alone. Now dealing with the seething underbelly of the drug world (& worse) Cal makes a self sacrificing decision in order to save Havok from herself.

I loved this story so much!! It made me cry hard like ugly cry y'all BUT I was reminded that love is truly able to conquer all evil & nothing proves this more than Lila's "Seeking Havok". Cal *sigh* you can't help but fall for him!! He's understanding, loving & determined to prove Havok is worth fighting for. Lila has yet again created a masterful love story interweaved with beautifully realistic characters you'll forever hold close to your heart!

Wow, this book was really powerful and really addicting. Lila Felix took on a tough issue but made the characters loveable and my heart broke multiple times for multiple people.

What a great name for a great character in Havok. What an awesome guy and loved the radio side of Fade. What a great way to save her.

I loved this book. I loved Felix's message. I loved how it all played out. I loved the characters.

I laughed, cried and my heart melted. I couldn't ask for a better read.

This was one of those lovely surprises - not sure if I got it when it was on sale or a freebie, but either way it was a bargain, and worth paying for. I really enjoyed the story, it was original and touching, and, while I don't mind a steamy read, this one didn't feel the need to insert the compulsory sex scene and was no weaker for it. As I said; worth a read.

I quickly became a big Lila Felix fan after reading Love and Skate. I always look forward to reading her books and I swear that they just keep getting better and better. Dare I say that this may be her best one yet. Lila continues to write these amazing stories with characters that you just fall in love with. And Seeking Havok was no different.

I loved Havok. Honestly I love all of the female characters in Lila's books but there is just something about Havok. She is so sweet and caring and you just want to hug her for all that she has been through. Her childhood has been anything but easy. She has been the one to take care of her mother, and no I'm not talking taking care of your mother because she is too sick to do it herself. I am talking about taking care of a mother who cares more about getting her next fix then her own daughter. A mother who has no issues with kicking her daughter out for the night while she entertains men to help pay the bills. And no matter how much her mother disappoints her and how bad of a mother she is, she is still Havok's mother. And being the caring person she is, Havok loves her and takes care of her. Their roles are basically reversed. Havok takes care of her mom and the house. When her mom tells her to leave for the night she does. If it wasn't for the kindness of the people around her, Havok would be living on the streets. Then she meets Cal and Havok begins to see what it means to really love and care about someone.

Cal is, in one word amazing! He moonlights as radio DJ Fade at night. When he is not on the radio he spends most of the time sleeping, keeping to himself or hanging our with his best friend Jett. He doesn't really have time for relationships or anything else. But that all changes when he meets Havok. When he sees her for the first time there is just something about her. He finds himself completely drawn to her. They start a friendship which is something that Cal doesn't necessarily want but he can see that Havok has this wall up and breaking it down won't be easy. So if friends for now is all he can get he will accept it. Havok loves spending time with Cal and in a way keeps their friendship to herself. He is the one thing in her life right now that is happy and she doesn't want to share that with anyone. Havok finds herself falling for Cal but those feelings is what scares her. She is afraid that once he finds out about her mother and her home life that she will lose him. When Cal realizes that they are connected in another way that neither one of them expected, he is not sure when or how to tell Havok. When their connection is revealed and secrets come out will it ruin what they have together?

"Yes for once I want something to myself. I want something that's mine and no one else's. I don't want to explain us to anyone. I don't want to talk about you to anyone because-I'm afraid they'd steal you away."

I can't begin to tell you how much I loved this story. Cal/Fade is the guy that every man should be and every woman wants. He knew from the minute he saw Havok that he wanted to get to know her, that she was worth making time in his busy schedule for. He cared for her in ways that she wasn't used to. He wanted to take care of her and protect her. He slowly broke down her walls and let him into her heart. And in the end Cal does something that will completely blow you away. It shows how amazing and selfless he really is. I shed some tears through out this book but it was this moment in the book where the waterworks were turned on. It made me fall in love with Cal/Fade even more. He was an amazing hero and just as a side note I think he is my new favorite out of all the men in Lila's books-yes taking Falcon's spot.

"I know. And I couldn't be more honored. I got your first date and your first kiss. And you already give me the world when you look at me the way you're looking at me now."

Havok and Fade were perfect together. You could feel the chemistry and love between the two of them. Cal wanted what was best for Havok even if that meant he had to make sacrifices. Havok spent so much of her life taking care of the one person who should have been taking care of Havok. And all though she was strong and independent and managed just fine on her own, deep down she was broken. It was Havok's time to be loved, to break free from her mother and find herself. And I love that Cal was one of the people that was there to help her along the way. Her best friend Ali and her family were an wonderful addition to this story. They took Havok in and made her feel like part of the family, loved her they way she deserved to be loved.

Seeking Havok still has that humor and wittiness about it that I love in Lila's books but it also deals with a few deeper issues that we aren't used to seeing from this author. Issues that she did an amazing job with. Seeking Havok will make you laugh, cry, and keep you on the edge of your seat. There was a moment that completely shocked me and I never saw coming. You will fall in love with Cal and Havok and love every minute of their journey together. It wasn't an easy one but it is one that will leave you smiling with happy tears in the end. Lila completely hit this one out of the park. Such an amazing read!

Add this book to your "must-read" list. If you like a strong, female, main character, you will certainly not be disappointed with meeting Havok. Yes, that's her name. (don't ask--it's part of the story).

I don't give many 5 star ratings but I had no choice on "Seeking Havok" by Lila Felix.

A fairly interesting read though I felt the romance was a bit forced... A fairly clean read but for those interested it should be noted that this has hookers, sex trafficking and the like.

The book has a good concept and a good message. However, I didn’t feel love, connection or chemistry between Havok and Cal.

This book rocked me. Havok is an amazing character with so much depth, but then you throw in Fade.... such a great love story!

I think this is a great book. I loved the two main characters and I could choke Havok's mother out. There were a few things that could have used a little more detail but I really enjoyed the story.
