I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for kids because there is no happy ending per se, but it's thought provoking. It's about how we've lost our ability to be happy because we've stoppedl iving simply and being kind to each other - due to fear and a scarcity mindset.

Perhaps this is an unfair rating, perhaps not. When I was young my grandmother told me this story from memory and it was once presented in our church as part of a sermon. Although some of the story was similar, the actual point of the story told by my grandmother went back to people seeing the being unselfish was better and making the world a better place. Even though this story is good, it leaves an empty feeling in me as it leaves the world with less hope than before.
