Prince Nico is a cunning master of stealth, but can he master a maiden's fragile heart?
Fourth book in the Dragon Knights series, but can be read on its own.
Prince Nico is known as the Prince of Spies for a reason. Not only is he the Spymaster of Draconia, but he's a cunning shapeshifter able to take the form of a dragon at will. The gift of his royal heritage comes in handy as Spymaster for the king, but it's a great secret known only to a few. Riki lives in misery, chained up to serve a mad king's perverted magic. Forced to use her draining healing skills to keep King Lucan of Skithdron alive, Riki is a shadow of the woman she should be. Nico knows Riki is the woman he's been searching for and wastes no time breaking them both out of the enemy palace. Thus starts an adventure that will take them across two countries, through peril and danger, and the discovery of an undeniable love and mutual respect. Will Nico have the courage to let her fly free, trusting she'll return to him, or will his love smother the fledgling beauty who is breathing free air for the first time in her tragic life? Warning, this title contains explicit sex explained in graphic terms and scenes of menage a trois.
Bianca D'Arc is the USA Today bestselling author of over 100 romance titles. She has been published traditionally, by a few notable small presses, and indie. Before becoming a full-time writer, she ran a laboratory, a legal department, and jetted around the country on business while working for a Fortune 500 engineering firm.
Well! The first three were all about how they found out they were princesses. This one went above … she ends up a queen! I wonder if the next one will reveal an empress or goddess. Ha!
This story upset me the most of all the stories in this series, because the author took the abused main character and made her the object of a threesome without providing her healing from her abuse. She wrapped her up in the blanket of I'm strong and silently suffer blah, blah, blah. This kind of thing pisses me off because really how much does it take to write in her healing before she makes her the center of a man sandwich.
That said I still don't really care for the sex part of this book but the story I really like and it is the story why I continue to read these.
This is the story of Prince Nico King Roland´s brother who we have already met in the previous books and Riki, Lana´s lost twin sister. Nico is the head of the Draconian "intelligence service" the James Bond of the dragons so to speak and he leaves Draconia on a mission to find out more about King Lucan´s plans for war. Because of treachery he is caught by Lucan´s guards and brought to the King´s rooms where he finds a malnourished girl chained to Lucan´s bed. Of course chains can´t hold back a Black dragon and after freeing himself and the girl who happens to be Riki they flee across the hostile country to the Border. Nico can only fly at night, daylight would reveal his black dragon form and so they are compelled to seek assistance with the Bard Drake who is an undercover draconian spy and his tribe the Jinn. Nico is convinced to have found his mate in Riki... Captivating, fascinating, interesting plot, sexy knights, hot love scenes, helpful dragons, fantastic creatures what can I ask for more? I´m already addicted to the Dragon Knights and this series and can´t wait to read more of these books. Nico is a very likeable character he´s very patient with poor Riki who has no self-esteem. Chained to Lucan´s bed she had to witness unspeakable acts of torture and cruelty but Nico helps her to come out of her shell and accept her origin and his love... sigh!
I've been enjoying this series over the last few days and I like that the author is developing and expanding the world created. I liked the relationship between Nico and Riki. I would have liked a more of the reunion between Riki and her sister and seen her reunited with her mother and youngest sister. Moving onto the next book soon.

Heather's Notes I disagree that this book can be read on its own. However, it is quite good as part of the series. I do not know why it takes me so long to read these. Still, I will keep reading them as I like the series
When Nico infiltrates enemy territory he finds more than he could have ever hoped for. The final missing sister and his fated mate.
Freeing her from the dark clutches of King Lucan, the two embark on a danger filled escape back to Draconia where they find allies in the most unlikely of places and uncover more secrets and prophecies.
So I really like Nico and especially love Drake. However I didn’t feel the relationship between Nico and Riki like the other pairings.
Nico is kinder and more patient than what Roland was but he still seemed to push too far to be realistic. Plus the repetitive memories of what Lucan did to his bed partners took away from the story with how often it is mentioned and then disregarded in the next sentence or paragraph.
The addition of the Jinn into the mix of characters was nice and I can’t wait to dive into their culture a bit more.
Multiple povs told in third person
Characters-
Steam - 🔥 with multiple pairings
Trigger - the word r@pe is dropped often and abuse is mentioned often, t0rture
Good premise that is still focusing on the threat to the dragon kingdom. This story was about finding Lana's sister, as foretold be Loralie, the evil (or not so evil) witch. Riki, Lana's twin, has been held captive by the mad king. Crazy how a strange man (Nico) is caught and beaten in front of her, only to help her escape after she's commanded to heal him. But Riki continues to fear being caught.
Again, good idea, but I found myself skipping the repetitive details and adult scenes. Sex scenes are not my cup of tea. I typically find myself rolling my eyes. So, I've resorted to skipping over them in this series. They add nothing to the story in my opinion. I am invested enough to want to know what happens next, but willing to cut out all the unnecessary and repetitive fluff to get there.
Nocolas the spy master is captured, after being tortured Arikia heals him and he rescues her. While they make their escape she learns trust and they fall in love and learn there is more to Arikia then they first thought. Some voyeurism but besides some touching there is not ménage

Continuing the series... I keep expecting this series to follow the path of other romances, where the characters and their trials start to blend together, but no! It stays fresh. D'Arc has a great imagination! I just wish the writing were as good.
Me enamore de Nico!! Riki es una bruja tan inocente y valiente, luchadora y altruista.. me Enamore de la historia... Me esta encantando cada uno de los libros de esta serie
I love the world building in this story. All of the family reunions as well as the battle scenes and everything in between. It pulls you in and doesn't let go.
This one wasn't bad... I finished it a few days ago so my memory is already going fuzzy.. but I remember not hating it.
I think the only thing that bothered me is common of all of Bianca D'Arc's books.... the heroes (the women too) are just so perfect. Literally perfect. In this one whatshername even says that Nico is just so perfect. Several times. Nico says the same about her.
The Jinn were obviously supposed to be Romani/Gypsies. But it didn't annoy me, it was well done.
Nico is known as the Prince of Spies. As a skilled spy and dragon shapeshiter, he is able to obtain knowledge that others can’t. In an effort of the find the missing Royal his race lost, Nico gives himself up to the enemy until he is beaten and tortured, an inch from revealing his true identity. However, a sweet, shy prisoner is there to care for him after his torture ends. Nico immediately recognizes that hair and those eyes and knows that he has found the missing piece to his mission.
Bianca D’Arc writes a truly enchanting love story for Riki and Nico. Nico is so loving and protective of her that I really can’t complain. He really is a prince. Someone worthy to watch over Riki. Whereas Riki is a quiet strength that readers cannot help but become attached to. I loved that she put so much faith in Nico, trusting him to do what was best. Their relationship blooms at a steady pace and although I thought the beginning was a little bit slow, D’Arc makes up for it with the wickedly hot sex! Nico and Riki’s chemistry is explosive! If you’re a fan of dragons, then this is definitely a series worth checking out.
First paragraph: Under cover of darkness, the black dragon slipped across the border into Skithdron, his dark hide blending with the night. Nico truly was the Prince of Spies and he was on a noble quest. The North Witch, Loralie, had intimated that his new queen’s missing sister was in Skithdron, but Nico hoped his agents might provide more specific information.
The fourth in the Dragon Knights series, "Prince of Spies" continues the story of the missing sisters of Kent with the discovery and rescue of the second sister by Nico, the eponymous prince of spies. Although I'm invested in the story and the world-building is interesting, the story is starting to drag a little for me. Most of the lead characters in each of the books are starting to seem like copy-cutter copies of each other, with no distinct personalities or motives. The guy wants to wrap the girl in some protective blankie like she might get a paper-cut. The girl is sweet but unassuming. Of course, there's Instant Love, no emotional turmoil between the leads, just smooth sailing till marriage and babies. If it wasn't for those evil skith, this would be a Hallmark romance.
This is the first novel I've read from Bianca D'Arc and all I can say is: not bad, not bad at all. I only read this because in response to a reading challenge, and I'm glad it could be read as standalone. It's the fourth book in the Dragon Knights series and I'm wary of reading a book in a series out of order, but found myself enjoying this.
It started out slow but the pace soon picked up after Nico and Riki escaped. I'm always fascinated by dragon-themed stories and this one is no exception. I've been inclined to reading about paranormal books that feature dragon shapeshifters. This one also has magic in the form of Jinns, an interesting addition to the characters.
The love scenes were very well written, they were artfully described bordering erotic even with the menage and a little spanking, but it worked for me. I felt the love grow between Nico and Riki, and how he supported her and boosted her self-esteem, after being imprisoned in that hellhole.
Prince Nico is the Prince of Spies or the Spymaster of Draconia, but he’s also a cunning shapeshifter, able to take the form of a dragon at will. Forced to use her draining healing skills to keep King Lucan of Skithdron alive, Riki is a shadow of the woman she should be. Nico knows Ricki is the woman he’s been searching for and wastes no time breaking them both out of the enemy palace. [return]Really hoping for a good sequel to the Ice Dragon that didn't pan out. However, still might have promise, so I'll try again eventually.
The only thing that happened in this story is that a spy, who is also a prince, goes into a land to save a girl, who is actually a princess. He gets caught and tortured. But, the girl who heals him is the list princess. He rescues her. They fall in love. They find out that she is queen of a clan. To cement an alliance between the two peoples, the main guy and girl marry. There will be a battle ahead with an evil wizard about to be set free. Cliffhanger ending.
Apparently dragons are exhibitionistic and into threesomes.
I am just loving this series. Great adventure, erotic but beautifully portrayed sex scenes, villainous villains and honourable heroes and to top it off , dragons! What more could you want? I've always loved Nico and his finding a mate to match him well, as well as introducing more characters to follow, makes this book another joy.
This book is worth the wait I have had. Most of Miss B's books come out in ereader form first. I end up having to wait for it to get to #acpl. This time it seems someone other than I have been anxious too. Niccy popped in when his brother found his mate. And I have wanted him since. Miss D'arc does not disappoint. I was instantly caught up, and loved every minute this ride/book gave me.
Love Ms Bianca's books. I had read maiden flight a while ago. Had me enthralled from the first page. It takes you on the journey with the characters as if you're actually there. Love it!!! The only complaint I have is I'm done reading the book and then I have to come back to the real world
Pretty sure this is an entertaining story as I enjoyed King Roland's story. As much as Prince Nico intrigued me, his story with Riki was based on love at first sight. nothing much to read about there because there was no sexual tension and etc
But without a doubt I know that Nico is alike his brother and he will be a great hero and partner to Riki.
Adults only. Sappy, repetitive dialog "He was so handsome and kind. How I loved him." This appeared many times. Gag. Still...the story isn't over yet so I am still reading. Tor was precious, and I was happy to see Lana discover her hidden abilities.
