There is something special about writing with children. Jayne Moon's academic rigour and classroom experience inform every page of this book- but what shines through is a sense of privilege it is to participate in someone's learning at this stage in their lives. This is a practical handbook with lots of teaching suggestions - but it is also a source of inspiration.
Children Learning English will help you to: • get insight into the special characteristics, abilities and attitudes children bring to the classroom • think about how you can learn from children and make use of this information in planning your teaching and your work with children • adopt ideas and frameworks for teaching English to you young learners
I found this book by chance on Pinterest, while looking for interesting activities for English teaching. I'm really glad I read it! It's very easy to read, informative, and enjoyable. It discusses most of the topics a teacher needs and thinks about. Most of the advice is applicable to language teachers and other teachers as well. I loved that it contains plenty of suggestions and examples for every topic discussed. And it has a blend of theory and practical advice and many illustrations that makes it very easy to follow and straight to the point.
I especially appreciated when the book discussed these points: - Building positive teacher-student relationships - Building a warm classroom atmosphere. - Lesson planning - Groupwork and pairing and mentoring - Learning assessment - Creating resources
I think every English teacher should read this book.
It is a useful book that highlights certain crucial points about being a successful teacher with suggested reasonable examples and applications.
It started with how teachers can create safe and comfortable teaching and learning environment, understand Ss psychology and thoughts about learning English, plan for the semester, unit and the lesson itself, organize Ss, adapt and create suitable activities and how to teach students how to learn (there are other more points).
