3.25 RATING- Trying to read through books I've had on my kindle for what seems like years...and came across a bunch of the Santini novellas I had purchased at one time or another. Marco was a quick read and pretty much what I expected. An okay story with decent writing, a couple editing issues (nothing major), and minor heat. Still a cute, somewhat cheesy at times, romance. I've read other series by this author that I've enjoyed more but all in all, an okay read.

4.5 rounded up to 5

Marco is infatuated with his gorgeous landlady, Alana. He won’t ask her out because he’s worried that if things end badly it would make their arrangement really awkward. He doesn’t make a move until his brothers descend on him for a weekend, and Gianni and Vince decide to flirt with Alana right in front of him. Marco’s jealous streak does more harm than good as misunderstandings ensue. He has his work cut out for him to make things right and get Alana to believe that he’s interested in more, and that he’s in it for the long haul.

After the death of her family in a tragic car accident, Alana received a large settlement. After the scandal of her failed engagement, she’s wary of romantic entanglements and men who only want her for her money. Even though assumes that Marco wouldn’t fall into the latter category, he is a Navy SEAL and that means dangerous deployments. She doesn’t want to fall for him, but he’s getting close to charming the sense right out of her. Will she give him a chance to prove that he’s the man for her, or will her inability to open up to him run him off?

Melissa Schroeder doesn’t disappoint as she continues to unleash her sexy Santini brothers on us. With Marco, she delivers us another great couple – the quiet but intense Navy SEAL and the philanthropist beauty whose sunny disposition gives him butterflies whenever she just smiles at him. I loved how Marco remained a gentleman throughout his courtship. Instead of showing her all his assets at once, he went for the kill with swoon-worthy, toe-curling kisses.

Alana’s insecurities were believable and to a point understandable (except maybe at the end because I can’t see any SEAL, married or not, telling his gf/wife about any deployment. I even asked my DH about that). Packed with even more humor than the previous book, pick up this book, and let Marco seduce you as thoroughly as he did Alana.

Favorite Moments

Alana sees all four Santinis for the first time ;)

Good God, they were walking up from the beach, without shirts, wet…her mind went blank.

~*~
“You know, I do have some ability to resist your charms, Marco.”

He smiled at her as he held the passenger side door open. “I’m trained to break through the enemy’s front line.”

“So you think of me as the enemy?”

“No, not really. Just as someone I need to conquer.”

I was very excited to get the chance to read Marco early & I was not disappointed in his story. I loved it as much as the previous installment, I mean, you just can't go wrong with Melissa Schroeder! She writes with heart and love and you can feel that in her stories.

Marco has had his eyes on his landlady, Alana, for months, yet he doesn't want to act on that attraction...at least not until some harmless flirting from his brothers pushes him to. Alana has been crushing on the lieutenant as well, but is wary of men due to her ex who was a scumbag who only wanted her for her bank account. Since losing her family at 18, Alana has a fear of everyone leaving and for that, she doesn't want to take the risk with Marco due to the chances of getting hurt. What Alana took for a pity date from Marco evolved into a passionate romance and Marco will do all it takes to make Alana his...forever.

I absolutely loved Marco & Alana. They were perfectly matched and their story was sweet, passionate, and sexy with plenty of sizzle to heat up your e-reader. Marco was an all around sexy & alluring hero, no doubt about it.

"You should know better than to mess with a SEAL, Alana. You gave me a challenge. This is my acceptance."

He said nothing else but dumped her on the bed.

His kisses in the story were absolutely toe curling *melts*

 photo tumblr_meyvwbJffk1r4wqdvo1_500_zps670e27d1.gif

"Okay, I just have to get this out of the way."

She opened her mouth to say something, but he ignored her. Instead her leaned in and kissed her. Unlike the kiss before, he put everything he was feeling for the past three months into this one. He skimmed the seam of her lips first, then slid inside for a taste.

How I would give an arm and leg to be at the receiving end of those kisses ;) [lucky Alana]. Their story was absolutely romantic and the ending will leave you with a smile.

Once again, Melissa Schroeder has written another wonderfully fun and sexy story that is hard to put down.  Marco was completely enjoyable from the beginning to end and I cannot recommend it enough. For a light, sexy, fun and romantic read, Marco is your go-to book. I gobbled up this story in one bite and cannot wait to see what's next for the other Santinis!

I got this book in ARC format and I swear I was just going to read a few pages. But it was soooooo good I could not stop myself from reading it. Yes its a novella so shorter than long books but it really was the perfect size, especially if you are the type that can't put a book down. We even get to see how cute Marco is after the book ends because it has an epilogue giving you a glimpse of the next book in the series for Gee.
Now about the story its not a super hot story, so if you are looking for lots of sex, you won't find it described graphically here. If you want a wonderful story and a very romantic read then this is a book you will love.
Marco is the quiet one and he has the hots for his neighbor who is 25, hot and used to guys thinking of her as a friend. Even when Marco tries to tell her he LIKES her, she still thinks its a pity date. They really are well matched in that they essentially are quiet, private people and Alana Kailikea is rich, and pretty famous in Hawaii which is where this book takes place.
Her family was killed when she was 18 and shortly after, a scummy guy found her and they got engaged, then broke her heart because he was after her money. Since then she has her best friend Colin and his grandmother to be her family, but she misses her family. Enter Marco, who is a SEAL stationed in Hawaii, who likes Alana but is afraid to get involved with his landlord. That is until all his brothers come visit and start making him jealous.
I am not going to spoil anymore of this story, except to say, they fall in love and thats the magic of this story. The story is full of the magic of falling in love and Melissa Schroeder did a fantastic job making me fall in love with not only Marco but also Alena. I cannot wait for her next book.

Readers are swept away to beautiful Hawaii for this installment in the Santini series. We are treated to the sexy SEAL Marco. He is the quiet brother. He’s not shy and when he notices that Alana is not taking notice of his immense attraction to her he has no problem letting her know exactly how he sees her.

Alana loves to look at her new neighbor. He is a sexy treat to behold. She also knows that with his job he is a temporary fixture on the island. She has seen many people come and go from the rental next to her. She does not need to let the charming SEAL next door in only to watch him walk away with her heart.

Alana and Marco each have to learn how to let others into their lives for them to find their happiest place with one another. Each of them has difficulties with this, but for completely different reasons. Alana has been burned by a past lover. Marco knows his career keeps him on the move. Thinking all the wrong possibilities keeps Marco and Alana from really having the absolute best of each other.

I am totally digging Mel’s Santini series! The books each work as a stand-alone, so you can jump into this sexy group of brothers in any order. I still think Joey Santini is my favorite Santini though. Maryanne is adjusting to her new family just fine. She was welcomed with open arms and she is ready to do the same to others. I was pleased that we got some page time with all four of the brothers together at the same time.

Clearly I am really feeling the military reads lately. :) I am loving this series and I can't wait to read about the last two brothers (Mel is also planning a spin-off series! squee). I would have loved to know a little more about Marco's SEAL life but it's all secretive so it makes sense that he didn't talk about it. Alana is a sweet but strong woman-a trait I happen to love. Marco's brother Gianni came close to stealing the show. He is going to be a really fun one to read about. I would have liked to get a little more back story for Alana, her past makes it hard for her to talk about but it would have been nice to see her break out of that shell. The ending felt a wee bit rushed, but we get a resolution for the characters. Don't miss this series. The Santini Brothers are a hilarious band of sexy military men and watching them be brought to their knees by a woman is exhilarating.

I was provided with the ARC of Marco for a frank and honest review. Stories with military men are a fave of mine and Marco as book number two continues a hot new series by Melissa Schroeder, The Santinis. The Santinis details the love lives of the four Santini brothers, who are all military men, super sexy gorgeous hunks and also fantastic men to have on your side as friends and also as family.

This is not just a military story. First and foremost these are romances and it just so happens that the heroes are military men and brothers! These brothers have been through a lot courtesy of their chosen careers and trying to gain the love of their women they go through a whole lot more. Being men, sometimes they do the stupid things men do and as a reader you just cannot help but shake your head and wish that you could reach through the pages, give them a slap and wake them up. Thankfully these Santinis are a clan that sticks together. Add Mama Santini who helps to lead and control this brood of men and they get a lot of help and direction, some wanted and some not appreciated but given with love nonetheless.

It is no different in Marco. Marco is so different to his brother Leonardo, as chalk is to cheese. Marco is a Navy Seal who lives in Hawaii away from the rest of the Santini clan, but that doesn’t mean that he is so far removed from any of them. There are of course numerous phone calls and personal visits that help to keep him connected to his family.

He is renting his home from Alana Kailikea, who it turns out has been through tragedy early in life and despite this she has come through this with a desire to help others. Marco is a little bit infatuated with his landlady and yet being the type of person that he is, he doesn’t think to take his infatuation any further, until a visit from his brothers jolts him into action.

Alana has been hurt by another man, and this is mentioned, but not really detailed enough in my opinion to explain Alana’s reluctance to date anyone. Marco is attracted to Alana’s beauty and sweetness, yet there is not very much that he knows about her. He has heard her talk about her family, but in the time that he has been renting the cottage from her, he has never seen them.

Alana is quite a private person and she keeps a distance from Marco and she has one friend who knows her warts and all. Colin has known her since childhood and these two lean on each other through the good times and bad. Colin has his own relationship issues to deal with, but he is always there for Alana and she for him. He sort of provides another male for Marco to be a bit jealous of and help him stick his foot in it. As well as this Colin is also the male friend in this story who gives the warning don’t hurt her or else, as well as being the one who encourages her to go for it, like a good girlfriend would, but that is it.

The repartee between the brothers is great. They interact on such a level that the reader can just feel their connection and see how well they understand each other and know what annoys and sets the others off. I love Gianni, Gee. He is hilarious and really knows how to push his brother’s buttons! I am going to love reading about him!

Marco refrained from telling his brothers about his beautiful landlady and when they visit they just cannot help but tease him and really push his buttons. Their visit is the catalyst that makes Marco start to try to get to know Alana much better than he knows her at present. That however, proves to be more difficult than he imagined. Alana is a bit shut off and to get anything out of her is like getting blood from a stone. Marco doesn’t know much because Alana isn’t openly forthcoming about herself or her past. It proves a bit difficult to start a relationship, much less build a strong foundation and Marco resorts to the internet to find out more about his landlady. What he finds goes in part to explaining who Alana is but I can understand that for Marco he wants the information to come from her.

I liked Alana and I liked Marco but there seemed to be a bit of fire and spice missing from this relationship. Alana doesn’t reveal much about herself and then she is annoyed that Marco doesn’t make a move.

This story wasn’t as fiery or emotionally angsty as that of Leonardo and Marianne. Marco and Alana finally do come together but she still holds back and all he can do is strategically withdraw himself and hope that Alana realizes that she needs to open up and stop hiding from him for the relationship to progress. She holds back from him and then accuses him of holding back from her. Her argument really didn’t hold water in my opinion and this was quite weak on her part. What she was accusing Marco of hiding from her, she could just have asked him and I am sure that he would have told her. It wasn’t a part of him that he was purposefully with holding, unlike Alana who just kept a lot of information from Marco.

Their sexual encounters are hot and sexy but I really felt that there was a lack of emotional connectivity between the two. Perhaps in part that was because Alana was so unwilling to share, because she was afraid to get hurt, but I also felt that it was because this story was shorter than book one and there wasn’t enough room to develop the characters as much and to really get to the core of who they were.

Will these two have a future together or will Alana’s reluctance to share stop them from moving on and having a serious relationship? Will Mama Santini have to get involved again? An enjoyable story and I can’t wait for number three in the series.

I'll leave this one as a 2.5.

The cover is even worse than the previous one (this faceless torso has weird tits!). The story is very similar: short, rather uncomplicated and with minimal drama, but it just too feels too rushed at the end to make it to a 3 score. Still, a few entertaining hours.

Ahhh, you have to love the Navy Seals and what they do day in and day out. In the second book of Melissa Schroeder’s The Santinis, we meet Marco, a Seal living in Hawaii. He loves the island, his house, and his job but he can’t seem to get over his infatuation with his landlady the beautifully intriguing, Alana Kailikea. When his brothers come for a visit, he forced by their flirting to admit he wants to pursue something with her, now he just has to convince her it’s a good idea.

This is one of those books that I love the story but I’m still not sure about the characters. I think part of that comes from both Marco and Alana being very private and quiet people. Marco because of his job can’t share a lot of his life with anyone so I think this prevents him from sharing in general. Alana has been hurt in the past so she keeps herself closed off to prevent it from happening again. While we do find out some about both of them, I still wonder about them both. Despite this or maybe because of it, they work well together. I like that once Marco decided to pursue Alana, he wouldn’t let her deny she felt something for him. He staked his claim and went in full throttle just like I would expect a man like him to do. Alana was a little harder to read but through her best friend, Colin, we gain some insight into her character. Everyone needs a Colin in their lives; that one person to tell you how stupid you are being even when you don’t want to hear it.

I flat out loved having all the Santini men together even for a short time. It was fun to see their different personalities come in to play and how alike they can be. I also have to say that Mama Santini cracks me up and I love the way she keeps her boys in line and immediately wins over the women in their lives. You have to admire her for raising kind and decent men and the fact that they still fear her wrath!

Although I had a hard time connecting to the two main characters, I still really enjoyed Marco. The fact that the plot was engaging and that the other characters in the book were intriguing made this a fun story to read. So the Army and Navy men have fallen…Gianni, the airman is up next and I can’t wait to see what love does to him!

Marco is the second in The Santinis series from Melissa Schroeder, and it’s another great addition. Marco is a Navy SEAL stationed in Hawaii and he’s very attracted to his landlady, Alana Kailikea. Alana isn’t sure she wants a relationship with a gorgeous SEAL, but Marco can and does break down her walls.

I loved Marco from the beginning, I think it’s because he’s the quiet brother. I related to him. Alana is strong, beautiful and curvy, a great heroine in my book. I love curvy heroines that are full of life and attitude.

There are few scenes where all four Santinis are together, and the testosterone overload almost melted me. I love these brothers, and each and every one of them intrigues me. I loved Marco’s story, and I loved Leo’s story and I know I’ll love Gianni’s and Vincente’s stories. The way Ms.Schroeder tells a story in so few words but still manages to engage me with her characters, speaks volumes to her skill.

I recommend Marco as strongly and as highly as I recommended Leonardo. Jump in and read this series, they don’t disappoint, and are definitely making the month of May much more enjoyable to me. So go ahead and judge a book by its cover. This particular story lives up to the hot cover that represents it.

The Santini's-Marco. Book 2
By Melissa Schroeder
Review by

ARC
4stars

Marco Santini is the reserved brother of the Santinis. He's a Navy SEAL, who has an attraction to his landlady. Alana Kailikea Is not what you expect when you hear the term "landlady", she's young, beautiful, and rich (due to tragic circumstances, beyond her control). Alana tries to do good things with the wealth she has, but has been hurt by men with other motives.

In this book we get to meet ALL of the Santini brothers. I really enjoyed their interactions with each other and Alana. Marco's brothers flirt with her mercifully, which actually prompts Marco to finally go after what he wants.

This is a novella and quick read. There are some hot scene's( but come on, we are talking about Melissa Schroeder. Does she ever not write a hot scene).

I liked this book because we did get meet all the brothers, but I felt, with the book being so short, that we didn't really get the full experience of Marco & Alana's story. Their "conflict" seemed to be rushed and glossed over. I just wished there had been a little more.

We also get an update on Leo & Maryanne and a glimpse at what's to come for Gee's story.

Looking forward to the next installment.

I read Marco as soon as I received the review copy in my email, and I had it finished within an hour. Melissa Schroeder is such a talented writer and she can create the most amazing characters with wonderful connections. Marco is book two in the Santini novella series. I am a huge fan of these brothers, and so far, Marco is my favorite one!

Marco is the quiet brother. Where his brothers are loud, he is more reserved. He has a crush on his landlady Alana, but would never say anything to her about it. It isn't until his three brothers come for a visit, that he finally gets up the nerve to ask her out, but only after he already embarrassed himself in front of her! Alana is 25 years old and lost her family 7 years earlier in a car accident. She is a private person whose been hurt, but she has a huge likable quality. I really loved the two of them together. They had a little bit of a rocky start, but I was rooting for them from the beginning.

I also loved getting to know the brothers a little bit more. We already met Leonardo and Vicente in the first book, but in Marco we also got to meet Gianni, the baby in the family. I am very excited to read Gee's story, which is the next one to be released!

OMG!! When I started reading I couldn't put it down!!! Before I knew it I was done and ready for more of The Santinis..
Marco is a Seal and the quiet one of The Santinis. He is stationed in Hawaii where he meets Alana his hot young landlady. He really likes her but has not attempted to act on it, that's until his brother's come to visit and start flirting with Alana. Especially Gee who finds it very entertaining.
Alana's family was killed when she was only 18 years old, so her only family now is her best friend Colin. She's scared to tell Marco the whole story of the accident because she thinks he will leave and she don't want to get hurt again. She thinks Marco is just feeling sorry for her and that's why he took her out on a date. That's until he comes up to her and gives her a hot steamy kiss that leaves her weak in knees.

I loved how the brothers were introduced and how we found out about Leo's surprise!! Melissa is AWESOME and wrote another fantastic novella! I can't to read about Gee!!

Marco is the second brother we meet in the Santini series. I was very excited to jump into this novella, I am definitely crushing on these brothers.

Marco is the quiet Navy SEAL stationed in beautiful Hawaii. Alana is his landlady, one that he has been keeping his eyes on for awhile. These two need to work for this relationship. Marco is more reserved than his brother, which has him moving slow in his pursuit of Alana. Alana is strong, independent but deep down is still scarred from her past. She is hesitant to love. All they needed was a little, not so subtle push, from the other Santini boys. And once he was pushed, well.....you need to read the story to find out.

The story is a hot and a fast read. I love how while we watch Marco and Alana, we learn more about this very close family. I recommend this story to any reader who loves hot military romance. Melissa Schroeder has a gift for bringing stories to life, Marco is a great read.

I was gifted this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second short story I have read by Melissa Schroeder and I enjoyed it. Marco, is book two in a series of novellas about love and life in the military. Each novella is about one of the four Santini brothers. The story is well written, hot and romantic.

Marine Lieutenant Marco Santini is stationed in Hawaii. His landlady Alana, is an erotic beauty and Marco has lusted after her since their initial meeting. Alana is a native of Hawaii and is infatuated with Marco. She is a philanthropist and genuinely cares about her community. Both are reluctant to explore their feelings and get to know each other.

With a little prompting from his brothers, Marco asks Alana out on a date. Sparks ignite and they begin a relationship. Both are shy about their pasts, which ends up causing some intense frustration, however they are able to work through it. This novella tells the story of their love. It is emotional and hot. If you are looking for a fast-paced, hot romantic read, this book is for you!

Marco is the second novella in the Santini series and tells the tale of Marco Santini falling for his landlady Alana Kailikea, who has something to hide and his SEAL senses tell him he has to persevere to find out the truths behind her hidden secrets.

This story has a booming start with Marco and his three brothers spending the weekend together and it is fun to read the joking brotherly camaraderie between them. It doesn't take long for them to clock the beautiful Alana and for Marco to realise that she is his woman.

This is a fun, quick pleasurable read that has all the aspects you would expect from a Ms. Schroeder story. When you have four hot sexy brothers, you can't go wrong! This series as a whole is a great read and with each novella you can enjoy seeing the relationships between the brothers and their love interests develop as well as watch the Santini family grow from strength to strength with love and happiness.

Oh Marco, you sexy thing you. The strong and silent type, super sighworthy. Alana was a great match for him as she was the strong and silent type also. With a life full of tragedy Alana has moved forward with her life and is making a difference. And again Marco is almost too perfect, seems the author is gearing up for one Santini brother to have all the personal drama.

But my favorite part were when all of the Santini's were in the same room together. We got a glimpse of their bond with Leo and Vince in the previous book but it wasn't until Gianni and Marco were thrown in the mix that we saw how much they love and annoy each other. In this novella we are able to see a little more of the personalities that will be the highlight of their own books soon. I can't wait! Again Melissa Schroeder paints a beautiful tale in an exotic location of life, loss, and love.

Navy SEAL Marco is the “quiet one” of the Santini brothers. Stationed in Hawaii he was lucky enough to find a cottage to rent instead of an apartment. Even better his landlord is a curvy bombshell he has been attracted to but was hesitant about approaching until his brothers visit and start flirting with her. He stakes his claim and makes his move. Alana has lost her family and has been hurt by a gold digger ex. This doesn't leave her open to relationships but a Navy SEAL never backs down from a challenge and a Santini always gets his woman.
Le sigh. Marco is an alpha male all the way. And when he gets done being a neanderthal he is actually achingly sweet and sexy. Bring on Gee.

Marco Santini was a sweet but HOT addition to the series. He tried not to go after his attractive landlady but the option became impossible when his brothers came for a visit and a bit of flirting let to a lot of frustration on Marco's part.
Alana and Marco were both afraid of giving in 100% and this caused them to hold back a bit of themselves. It didn't make the story any less passionate, but it added mystery to it. Marco searched for more information into Alana's past while Alana waited for the fairytale to be over.
Once the two worked through their pain and insecurities, they let out all the passion that they were holding back and made this another amazing story! I loved it!

I love love these brothers so much. It was a quick read. It has so much passion in this book that I could not put the book down. Marco and Alana are perfect for each other that they balance out each other. Marco has a secret crush on his landlord that he finally ask her out when his brothers push his buttons. Marco is so hot when he confesses his feelings for Alana. I love how Marco confesses his love for Alana that Alana starts falling for him. They are so perfect for each other that we get to see some of the family interactions.

Great series! Love the Santinis and Marco does not disappoint. Marco is interested in his landlady Alana Kailikea, but he thinks that getting involved with her would be a bad idea. His brothers know that she would be great for Marco and finally he decides to go out with her. Alana is great. She is strong and beautiful. She makes a wonderful partner for Marco. I can't wait for the next addition to this series.

Loved this book even more than the first. Marco and and Alana are both lovable caracters. Alana has had a tragic past but still comes off as a strong young woman that has turned a devastating event in to something good. The continuing story of the Santini family makes this novella very much a continuation of the first and leaves you excited for the next installment. And as always, there is plenty of heat! :-)

Melissa Schroeder's Santini boys are hotter than ever in this second installment, featuring Marco and his beautiful but elusive Hawaiian landlady, Alana. Alana is resistant to the charming Marco, since she has faced personal tragedy and betrayal in a former relationship. Marco is undaunted and no woman can resist a Santini! A really fun read!

Sometimes a hot novella just hits the spot! The Santini's thus far are totally rocking that spot!
Marco is a sweetheart and it was fun to watch his interactions with his brothers...especially when Alana was involved! I always love Mel's sense of humor and this book and series are no exception.
I highly recommend Marco Santini as a fun, hot get away!!!

I love getting a glimpse of all the Santini's together. The interplay between them is amazing. I love the fact that Marco could see Alana was wary and he tried to accomodate that. This was another awesome story from an amazing author and I can't wait to read the next two books in the series.

I really enjoy this series -- this book, however, was too short for me. I just didn't connect as much as I needed to with the characters. LOVE the setting, love the characters and am looking forward to the rest of the series :)
