Small town. Big secrets. Deadly lies. Legal clinic attorney Emmie MacKenzie has finally accepted her father's claim that her mother's death at the hands of a drunk driver was no accident, but agreeing to work with brusque, self-centered bad boy, Skeet Archer, to find the real killers? A seriously bad idea. He might be the youngest son of the mighty Archer clan, but Skeet is the ultimate outsider in MacKenzie Cove. He dreads returning to the tiny beachside town where everyone knows his past, but clearing his half-brother of the six-year-old crime will erase a debt he’s owed for far too long. Though the rest of her family is skeptical, Emmie agrees to join forces with Skeet to find her mother’s murderers. But the more clues they unearth, the closer danger creeps. Some secrets really are worth killing for…as many times as necessary. Welcome to MacKenzie Cove, a small beach town full of big secrets…and deadly lies. Join the tight-knit MacKenzie clan as they dodge killers and unravel mysteries, finding love and renewed faith along the way. A series of clean, inspirational action adventure romances, each guaranteed to lift your heart.
4stars. I purchased a copy of the Christian Romantic Suspense Rising Faith: Mackenzie Cove Book Five by Edie James, and this review was given freely. A fitting conclusion to the series. Contains a fair amount of drama, a few twists, and many happy endings as well as the themes of revenge, reunion, and healing. When the abusive Jarrod Teller is paroled early, a desperate father reeks his twisted revenge by stalking attorney Emmie McKenzie, whose attraction quickly grows to part-time private Hollywood security operative and surfer Skeet Archer, who becomes her protector while trying to solve the seven-year-old murders of his brother and Emmie’s mother. At the same time the Patriarch, Chip Mackenzie is in a coma after another stroke.
I was waiting for Emmie's story for so many books...she was truly a neat character to get to know better. I actually would have gone for five stars because of the characters and interesting storyline, if the lack of editing hadn't continually pulled me out of the story. For example, a character has a stroke; --it doesn't work that way. Then, many instances of missed proofreading and so on. Sigh. Hopefully a revised copy will be published.
It was great to find out finally what happened to their mother and who was responsible.
Lots of twists and turns but a believable ending. It’s a fairly decent adrenaline producing workout book for me. I liked Skeets. The romance wrapped up decently with plans for the future.
Characters’ emotions were like yo-yos. Readers see a developing relationship only to be yanked away by inferiority complexes or emotional immaturity. This is repeated throughout. It is a device that gets old, predictable, and even silly. This book seemed to have a little less of that and more action and plot so I liked it better than others in the series.
When I have a book written by Edie James I MAKE time to read. Sorry I am not available today! Well I was not disappointed at all. I just love how she weave suspense, drama, family, romance and faith together. Skeet had to pull out all the stops to keep Emmie safe. Luckily the rest of her family is there to lend a hand. The conclusion of this series leaves you with mixed feelings: you stretch out your hand to your favourite box of chocolates only to realize is finished. It was awesome but now it is finished and you want more. ;) Edie James is fast becoming one of my favourite authors!
The final MacKenzie Cove installment features lawyer Emmie MacKenzie caught between avoiding a stalker and trying to solve the mystery of her mother's death. Skeet Archer wants to solve the mystery too--doing so could clear the reputation of his late half-brother JJ who died in the same car crash as Tina MacKenzie. As a bonus, Skeet is a professional bodyguard, just the man to protect Emmie from the stalker's escalating harassment. Family relationships in a mysterious, but beautiful, oceanside community remain the core of the series.
Truly hate to see this series end. Ms James is one of my favorite suspense writers. She has wrapped the series up nicely with a lot of suspense, intrigue, and danger. Emmie is the last sibling of the McKenzie crew to not be attached. Her chemistry with Skeet of the Archer family is not appreciated by her siblings at first. The MacKenzie-Archer rivalry is in full force. However, Skeet proves to be of great help in finding some of the answers to questions that arise. Will Emmie and Skeet be able to escape the danger as well as the family rivalry to find happiness?
emmie is going to help the family look into the death of their mother and jj. skeet archer is also coming to town to help out. someone does not want them to find anything out and is after emmie and anyone that gets in their way. this is a very good story as is the series . sad that it is ended. this is well written and the family pulls together to help their father . and that skeet and his father also help solve the deaths.
The final installment in this series focuses on Emmie Mackenzie, a lawyer, and Skeet Archer who work together to solve the mystery regarding his late half brother's and her mother's deaths that occurred 7 years ago. Emmie has a stalker, and Skeet has a strained relationship with his father. I enjoyed the characters in this story, the suspense, the danger, family dynamics, and tension between the Archer and Mackenzie families.
What an exciting novel! Great conclusion to this incredible series. Rising Faith is a standalone novel in the Mackenzie Cove series and is Skeet and Emmie's story but the entire Mackenzie and Archer Clans are involved. Skeet and Emmie's do get their HEA as well as the other MacKenzies and Archers. Read this great novel and series and enjoy! Great job Edie James. Great Job!
This is a very enjoyable wrap-up to this series. The main mystery has twists and is very entertaining. The "side mystery" adds some other action to the book. I love the way the Christian message is woven into the story. I love the characters. I look forward to the next series.
This book is a great read. It's full of drama, suspense, and romance. It hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. Emmie and Skeet's story will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. Loved it! I received a complimentary copy and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Rising Faith was a perfect book to close this series with. I loved how two people who could have been enemies become something special. The characters are very believable and become part of the family. The storyline is solid, interesting and cozy. I hated to see the last book end. Edie James, you are an incredible writer. Please keep the books coming!
This book is a very satisfying conclusion to a great series. The Mackenzie family is a cast of intriguing characters. I recommend reading the books in order to follow the thread of the underlying mystery linking the full series.
Great story of forgiveness, healing, and restoration. Readers will not be disappointed; this is a wonderful book filled with suspense and adventure. I highly recommend the entire MacKenzie Cove series!
Always a nice mixture of action, romance and faith. I enjoy this author a lot and the books are guaranteed to be interesting. Great ending. I would say more but do not want spoil things. Read the series.
This is a great story. It is a wonderful end to a wonderful series. The Mackenzie family set out to solve the mystery of their mom's death with the help of Skeet Archer.
This a great conclusion to the exciting MacKenzie Cove series! Plenty of suspense, mystery, faith and romance. A very enjoyable book. I will miss reading about this fascinating family!
Skeet and Emmie, oh wow oh wow. I thought I was going to cry a couple of times because these two. I think this is best book of the 6. So many hurts through the years for both of them but not from each other. Read it now.
Very satisfying final book in the series. Emmie has a stalker while she's trying to run her law office and help solve her mother's murder. Skeet Archer joins the MacKenzies in their search for justice. This book was hard to put down, with all the suspense.
The romance in this felt a little underdone, and I wished for a better wrap-up to the series as a whole--BUT the mystery and the characters in this were a lot of fun. I did enjoy it a lot.
Good clean book series. This one is as good as the first. The plot is simple but colorful and the characters are interesting. Hope to have time to read more of Edie James books in the future.
