I'm the author of 13 YA and middle grade books. When I'm not writing, I travel to schools to speak with groups of students. I love visiting schools!
I also work as a full-time freelance writer, creating stories and articles for universities, government organizations, magazines and more.
A few random facts: * The most I've ever written in a single day is 14,000 words. That was a very, very long day. * I print. I don't use handwriting. * I like cats and horses. I used to work as a wrangler on an Alberta ranch. * Stephen King was my favourite writer growing up. * Small spaces worry me. You won't find me wiggling through caves on my tummy anytime soon. * My favourite authors are Jonathan Franzen, Cormac McCarthy, Paulo Coelho, Amy Tan, JK Rowling and Jeff Kinney.
Owen is the main character and he has a huge crush on the cutest girl in school named kamryn. but owen find out kamryn has a crush on his brother kyle which is in a older grade. owen trys to figure out how to trick kamryn in relizing owen is the better guy for her. So one day kamryn had ask for advice and he had trick her to like him and then the next day the did a project together. Owen had brought Kamryn home to finnish project he had left in the room and went to get her snack. when he was gone he say........
Recommended for gr. 5-8. High interest, low level, will appeal to boys.
Owen decides that the only way to get Kamryn to notice him is to start an anonymous advice blog, the Oracle. With the help of his friend Hannah, the blog is a success, and he manipulates his advice so that Kamryn will realize that he exists. Of course, this backfires, but in the process he learns that Kamryn is really a mean girl, and a caring girl has been with him all along.
Oracle is the name of the blog Owen starts to get the attention of his crush. It was the only thing he could think of to get his crush, Kamryn, to want him instead of his brother, Kyle. Kamryn finds out and exposes him, but that only backfires on her. This book was a very quick read, but it was also very well written.
This book starts out so badly that I can't even imagine recommending it to a student. The dialogue doesn't sound like teens, the topic is dull. I hope other Hi/Lo books I checked out today are better than this one.
