every character getting a final chapter and send off is so <3

(also i know akasaka said he has no plans of writing more about ishigami and miko but i hold out hope)

This has been one of my favourite mangas since I started reading it about two years ago. It went from the throes of teenage love to the very real problems of a patriarchy and corruption in high bloodlines and (almost) every moment of it was enjoyable. Though, this last volume which served as a more of a tying up of loose ends was not my favourite. In my opinion, the mangaka could have ended the manga without this pandering volume of everyone's ending. As much as I love happy endings, this one took a bit too much delving into each and everyone's endings, which felt somewhat anticlimactic and boring to me. However, I did enjoy the last chapter but this volume could have been done without.

Romcom mangas have a bad reputation for bad or rushed ending. I am happy to see this to be neither bad nor rushed.

Really couldn't asked for more for the ending of this beloved series. Every story bit got a conclusion all the characters got their time. This whole volume was a giant epilogue like LoTR. To me that was plus point but maybe some people may find it a bit dragging.

The war is mostly over, so that means it’s time to pick up the pieces and see where the chips fell and every other cliche I can think of. Basically, it’s the end of a long road and our time with these characters.

Boy, I am conflicted about the way this wraps up and it mostly comes down to a flash-forward that just sort of fumbles the ball a little bit and a climax that leaves things in the lurch for the characters I actually like.

On the upside, this is a massive victory lap that wraps up pretty much all the leftover threads dangling in the series and does so with a decent amount of resolution. And it’s funny in spots - being denied Chika’s endorsement speech and just seeing the costumes involved is one of the best gags here in ages.

Honestly, the parts that annoy me are dealing with Miko and Ishigami, who end up in the position our leads were in initially. Which is a clever bit of circular storytelling, but kind of flies in the face of all the growth these characters have had over so many volumes. It feels like a let-down for a cheap joke, which should be the purview of the manga reviewer, not the manga.

But even with the series having lasted far longer than may have been healthy, this functions as a proper sendoff with a satisfying series of denouements. It definitely reminds me of better times with the series, but the quality stayed readable the entire time; it just became more hit-or-miss than outright bad.

And, honestly, minus my petulant hackles being raised over the whole Miko and Ishigami ending, I think this acquits itself pretty solidly and gives everybody who needed closure, or at least a final glimpse, that opportunity. Yes, Hayasaka’s ending could be more explicitly gay, but this isn’t yuri anyhow.

There are plenty of callbacks - one long-running catchphrase pays off at the very end and that was a great pull - and our leads get an excellent wrap-up, particularly Kaguya, whose final choice in terms of career and reasoning behind it were about what I’d imagine for her.

If you read it this far, it won’t disappoint. Yeah, it could be better in a few places, but most series don’t devote nearly this much time to an epilogue and that alone makes this a treat for series fans. I’d much rather have a lengthy epilogue to pick apart instead of an abrupt nothing that doesn’t even try to be satisfying.

3.5 stars - and an overall rounding up because this was an accomplishment, however I feel about parts of it, and the times it knocked it out of the park over the years more than earned that generosity.

I was so shocked by the way Kashiwagi’s story ended.

(Using this as a stand in for the whole series)
A consistently funny and wacky manga that started from a great premise, weirdo geniuses doing insane bullshit to get with their crush, and evolved into a really well rounded story with a fleshed out cast. It has it's ups and downs but I fairly consistently enjoyed it and the final arcs hit some pretty serious notes that worked well for me. I really enjoyed how much of an offramp there was to the ending too, it feels pretty rare for manga to have an epilogue of any kind and the last goodbye chapters all hit.

Final maravilloso.

A nice final send-off for the series, and nearly perfectly timed to end on a high note and without a lot of repetitive filler in the meantime.

It was cool how the writing changed after Kaguya and Miyuki came together. Romances so often call things to a close once that happens, or rely on love triangle-like interference to keep things chugging along. Kaguya-sama didn't hew close to those conventions, and also wasn't so experimental as to make things too strange. There was a nice balance between silly stuff, and more serious takes on love, friendship, and romance, and how some of those can lead to conflicts that can't be resolved neatly and without emotional pain.

Although the end scenarios for the main and side characters in this and v. 27 were on the predictable side, I appreciated that that each major and secondary character got some time in the spotlight before the curtain closed.

The art for this series wasn't ever entirely on point, even though Akasaka had plenty of time to get better at it. His male characters always came across as rather stiff, and never quite managed to overcome my impression from the first volume or two of being drawn using a posable reference doll. The character designs were a bit too similar in places. In this last volume, for example, Miko's brother and Miyuki look nearly identical to each other, except with different hair color. Depending on the context, I couldn't tell Ai and Kei apart, either.

So I can understand why Akasaka's publisher decided to farm out the art for their new series, Oshi no Ko, to a different artist. I appreciate their branching out and creating a very different story, but I'm going to watch a few episodes of the anime before committing to reading it. We may be parting ways for a little while.

I’m so relieved that Kaguya-Sama chooses to go out this way - not with a high-stakes espionage plot, but a low-key, elongated epilogue. Is it a tad too long? Maybe, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There aren’t many surprises here, but a lot of delights, especially with the Akasaka tastefully accelerates through time to really wring some extra range out of the characters. However, I was caught off guard by the lack of a concrete resolution for Miko and Yu, which I currently do not know how to feel about. It rings true, but the lack of catharsis seems antithetical to what has been teased all this time. Maybe this is something that will land better on a re-read.

And that’s it! I would have expected to write a large retrospective for this final volume, but I feel strangely unmoved to unpack it in such detail. What I would like to commit to the record is an acknowledgment of how much this series has meant to me. Go back through my reviews and it’s clear that I poured a lot of time into documenting my thoughts in an attempt to hold onto the joy I gained from this series - a joy that was especially welcome during some occasionally rough times. I’ve joked that Kaguya-Sama is the defining romcom of our times, and whilst I don’t know if I’d commit fully to that commendation, I do think that it is one of the most enjoyable, and certainly one of the most ambitious. It’s the kind of series that keeps me digging through the glut of lesser manga, as I hope to find something sharp and special.

Book: Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, Vol. 28
Rating: 4 Out of 5 Stars

The end of another series! I must say that I did enjoy the ending. It felt like everything came to full circle. I don’t know, but I did enjoy this ending. It ended the way that I needed to end.

I liked how everyone got their final chapters and we were able to see where they were going after graduation. It felt like one chapter was going to an end and we were moving onto another. It just felt wholesome. I don’t know how else to explain it. It just felt right. Everything happened that needed to. Now, there are some unanswered questions, but I am okay with that.

I also liked how everyone came together in the end. I know I keep saying this over and over again, but it felt like a true ending. The characters have closed one chapter and are moving on to another. It just felt right.

The artwork, once again, adds so much to the world. It is simple, but manages to capture the story that the author is trying to tell. The author shows us the characters’’ reactions, instead of using speech. It was this that has kept me engaged in the series for this long.

Overall, I am very pleased that I read this series. I have enjoyed it.

A hilarious romantic comedy that starts with the two protagonist constantly playing mindgames with one another to get the other to confess their feelings, which can be somewhat formulaic and feel stale after a while.

But that eventually fades away when their relationship makes actual progress, at which point it turns into a relatable story about growing up, falling in love, getting one's heart broken, having no friends, and so much more. And it also benefits from focusing just as much on the side characters as it does on the main couple.

It can still be extremely over the top, and there's quite a bit of drama, but I thouroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. And outside of the more dramatic chapters, the humor always managed to make me smile.

The ending may feel somewhat rushed, with character stories getting tied up in one or two chapters, but the story had to end someday, and it obviously couldn't follow the characters all the way to their graves (well, I guess it could, but depicting their entires lives and keeping the story fresh would be quite the feat). So this was nice enough.

This series is everything to me.

I love the pranks, the fantastic characters, and their development, and the humor is always on point.

The anime is great, too! They follow the manga pretty well. There is a prank or two that they didn't do, so I'm hoping maybe in another season they'll add them.

I love the art and the exaggerated expressions.

I highly recommend Kaguya-sama: Love is War if you're looking for a long shojo series with a fun and entertaining romantic plot.

The bonus materials really added to the experience, and I loved the afterward Aka put in one of the volumes. I think it was either 24 or 25.

In this volume, we continue to see and get closure for all the main and side characters. We have a little deja vu, a short scene in the future, and their graduation.

I do really wish we had more time in the future instead of just one quick chapter.

I love this series!

Overall, I'd give it a 5 star rating, and for this volume, a 4.75 star rating.

I'm crossing my fingers for a bonus material book or a spin-off of Ishigami and Miko.

I love this manga so much! These characters are amazing, the storyline is so crazy yet so relatable, and the relationships are depicted so well! It starts to get a little more risky in the later volumes once the main two get together but I still really loved the series. I loved all the unique story lines, the non-cliche ways of moving the plot forward, the way they played on the cliches used, and the dualities within the characters. There is just so much here to love! I don't think its my favorite manga of course, but it's definitely up there. I would highly recommend this to anyone 15+ (there are discussions of certain romantic matters, cursing, and semi-adult topics) who wants a good rom-com that can easily separate itself from the rest of the realistic shojo genre.

I’m torn between 2-3 stars. Because this is the end of a great series and it wasn’t an awful closing but I guess I was just expecting something else.

Shijo’s section finally had her moving on which is good but I wish it was a little more concrete.

Then they had a section for Ino’s weird friend who I never cared for and did not feel the need to see in the final volume.

Yu and Ino’s section was another one I would have liked as more concrete closure to.

Ai’s section jumped to the future to show that she finally had her childhood time which I’m happy for but….

Chika’s section was random AF but at least we got confirmation that she is into girls. (AiXChika ftw)

Then we go back to “present day” for Kaguya and Miyuki for just a small section to have their graduation. And then fin?

This volume easily could have been shortened and fit into volume 27...but the way they end it for each character, that was super special. It was a great way to end a series. I feel like series such as "Bleach" could learn a lot from the journey that Aka Akasaka took us on. I found myself sitting and reflecting on all I read, and I feel this series deserves more attention than it gets...because it is truly a gem. What a not only great romcom, but a story of growth, changes, and personality. After finishing this series, there will be a small void you'll be looking to fill, but some great manga series are out there...so get to hunting...after a little more reflection on just how well this series was presented.

personally , this ending could've been better . I wish ino s and yuu s story was explored more and i don't like that in the end they gave them the same premise as the main couple because these two are completely two different characters and they should have thier own story , i need it . I wanna see the shijo twins fall in love with other people . also the pregnancy to me was hilarious. I wish we explored more of chika too in the end. I just wish the side characters were given more time . A nd now that I am thinking about it like does the final setting make sense about marriage , like don't they have basic communication skills now to say what they feel but they kind of already know what the other feels so just TALK
also i will wait for more of the side characters story plzzzz

Kaguya sama love is war is very fun, with just the right amount of over the top humour, self deprivations and “teen” elements

The “battles” of the week intermingled with a true progression of time and recurring plot points made for an interesting and engaging read!

High highs (the confession, hayasaka arcs) and low lows (ishigami arcs, shinomiya family) aside, the final volume having final send off chapters for many of the characters was a great way to close everything off!

I would really only recommend this to lovers of the anime who want a proper ending because it’s nature as a pretty evenly split comedy/romance shounen makes for bit of long repetitive read

5 stars. Can't help but to feel sad that one of my favourite manga ever has now ended. I will forever miss all the characters and their adventures and silliness. The humour, banter, and romance in this is simply god-tier

This whole series represents all my favourite tropes ever, and have introduced me to new ones that I did not know I would like.

If there's ever a spin off that comes out, I will read it for sure. But for now, I just wanted to thank the author, artists, and everybody else involved into making this masterpiece of a series that will forever be in my heart.

(A review of the whole manga)
This is such a beautiful story. It’s a lot of fun, but it also has a lot of heart. I love the character development, especially Kaguya’s. I love the antics and the romance. Every side character has a wonderful character arc and rich backstory.
Although the part where the series turned into an Ouran High School Host Club spin-off for a few volumes was a bit weird, it did fit the story of rich people with rich people problems.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series from start to finish. I laughed out loud, I cried, I loved. What a great manga

The ending for this series is SO MUCH BETTER than I anticipated. I had heard it was disappointing, and while maybe a bit rushed, I really enjoyed the final chapters. I’m reading this after a long gap in reading the manga or watching the anime, and reading volume 27, I wasn’t particularly impressed. I thought I was over this story and Aka Akasaka’s writing style. But this volume fully reconfirmed that I love this series and its characters. I was so happy reading the final chapter. The back half of this story is pretty messy on the whole, but the good stuff is amazing.

The premise of Kaguya-sama: Love is War starts off really well, and at the beginning I couldn't help but think, "how silly, but how cute!" However, as I kept reading, I started to feel that the story was becoming a bit repetitive, and at some point I couldn’t care much unless there was some meaningful development between the characters. Towards the end, the story shifts into a rescue arc, which was fairly interesting, but after that, with the ending, I got the feeling of being back at square one. Maybe if I had read this over several years, I would have felt differently about it.

It's been a while since I last read the manga but I finally caught up. At first, I was frustrated with the two main characters who refused to admit their feelings but later when I found myself interested in all the supporting characters I started to enjoy it. I found some great meme material. The points at the end and the winner/loser situation - it's so petty but funny. I have no idea what the author plans with Ishigami and iino's story but I'll pick it up too.

Uy.
"Love is war" te voy a extrañar mucho.
