A transitionary volume which gets our heroes into the necessary positions for what is to come next, and whizzes through important elements which outlive their usefulness. A lesser volume of this arc is still a solid one, but it does feel like a less vital one.

Pokémon: Sword & Shield, Vol. 9 is about trainers and Pokémon working together to stop a big problem. The story is fast and has both funny and tense moments. I liked how the trainers got stronger while facing dark challenges, which felt inspiring. The Pokémon were fun and brave, which made them easy to love.
