I suffered and complained through some religious stories and finally had to stop during a story with angels. The woman prays to angels to save a dying kitten and prays that god will also help with the expensive bill. So, god will help find your lost cat or pay your vet bill but ignores real problems and suffering.
Loved this book!! As the owner of cats my whole life and 3 very different and rambunctious boys currently, I felt myself relating with so many of the stories. Even the ones at the end about special friends who have passed on, reminding me of my best friend in the whole world whom I lost 4 years ago. And seeing that others have had that kind of love with their cats made me feel less alone in my deep sorrow from missing her still when I go through tough times without her. The stories were heart warming and made me laugh page by page.
I love reading stories about animals plus we have two cats. Sister Sarah gave me this book for Christmas last year. There are 101 stories about kittens and cats and I tended to read a couple stories every week.
The chapters are: * Meant to Be * Miracles Happen * My Very Good, My Very Bad Cat * Who Rescue Whom? * What I Learned from the Cat * We are Family * Natural Therapists * Canine Friends * A Cat's Purpose * Over the Rainbow
The stories are a couple pages each so are a quick read and most were interesting. Some were religious (not my thing). It's amazing how many were indoor/outdoor cats (ours are strictly indoor cats) and how uncaring the older folks tended to be.
I don't think I've ever shed so many tears reading a book! You know you are an animal lover when. 101 Fantastic short stories mostly about cats but does include some dog stories as well. I will be writing a cat and dog story for concideration in the next installment, so stayed tuned and cross those fingers!
I picked up this book of short cat stories on a whim over the summer and I'm so glad I did-- I was fun to pick up and read one or two at a time-- short stories that are good for the soul. I haven't read any books from the Chicken Soup for the Soul brand in well over 10 years and in doing some research on the brank, it looks like it's been being revived-- I'm happy to hear that!
Cute book, Only gave 4 stars because there were some misspellings of words, some stories about dogs with cats but the dog was the main focus of the stories (then an entire section of them for dogs). 1 story about a dog didn't even mention a cat at all..

An excellent collection of cat stories with a couple of dog ones thrown in for good measure. The stories pulled at my heartstrings the entire book, if I wasn't crying, I was laughing. And soon I hope to also be a contributor, stay tuned!
Many cute and heartwarming stories. A few tearjerkers (and even happy cries), especially the end chapter about losing beloved pets. Some stories were written so well that I felt as if I was sharing the moment with them.
FS: “Winter storm on the way!” the radio blared. I glanced out the window. Dark clouds were already forming above our small subdivision in rural Illinois."
