RACE: THE COLOUR OF SHAME

Rate this book
Ms. MacLean's debut novel illuminates the difficulty of racial identity and the chaos it can create. The narrative deftly investigates racism beyond simple black and white figures (Angela proves not "dark" enough for her black relatives, though most of the white world view her as black).
Dotted with ghosts, sex scenes and ramblings in New Orleans and abroad, the story can be thrilling... an endless string of docile servants round out this astutely delicate dramatization of race relations. The story provides a worthwhile glimpse at how startling the answers to questions of heredity can be

.
With a fluid and truly elegant style and the controversial subjects of Races as well as "reincarnation", the talented Marie-Madeleine MacLean has brilliantly created a sinfully entertaining novel with the full force of intelligence behind a frightening drama." Race .The colour of shame" is indeed a brilliant debut novel and certainly an instant classic...
Literary and creative artists

This highly thought provoking exceptional novel about "racism and reincarnation" and the terrible chaos it can create, brilliantly defines the unique style as well as the perfect punctuation of its stylish French author. Crisp, with intelligent dialogues and richly detailed with an undeniable sharp "designer's eye", with a string of colorful characters who elegantly "dress to kill", the seemingly aloof Ms. M-M MacLean has certainly achieved an absolutely seductive and brilliant debut novel; certainly as brilliant as its beautiful and extremely stylish author...
A must read!!!

Ms MacLean's book is a riveting, complex work which keeps the reader glued into it's pages, transfixed into the world that Ms MacLean has painted. And how she paints with words! Each sentence flows tenderly and pointedly toward the next, taking the reader along for an enjoyable and thought provoking ride.

Her book is visually stunning, and demands to be read as if you were watching a cinematic adventure. Characters leap off the page and into your heart as they would leap off the screen and into your soul.

"Race: The Colour of Shame" cries to be made into a feature film. Or an extended television series - to capture the full story Ms MacLean tells.

In a nutshell: the story reads well, flows well, is a visually stunning masterpiece, and should be read by old and young alike.

RACE. The Colour Of SHAME is a POWERFUL, riveting, and strangely HAUNTING STORY. wonderfully written by certainly one of the most GIFTED Novelists of her generation. This EXCEPTIONAL Novel is as TIMELY as it is ESSENTIAL in our highly dysfunctional 'global world' today which lack EMPATHY and human COMPASSION. This Novel is, in fact, a STUNNING and UNFORGETTABLE READ!

Pay attention to the last post "SOLD OUT' in ASIA!!!

A MUST READ
This is one of those books you just cannot put down! It's a Spellbinding tale that is beautifully written! The author's exquisite command of prose combines with a brilliantly orchestrated story that keeps you at the edge of your seat, eagerly awaiting to read what will happen next. And it's all embedded by one of the most critical themes of today - racism! The book artfully demonstrates why judging people by the color of one's skin is so WRONG!

This book is a must for present-day readers looking for a suspenseful and well written novel. It has some of everything in it - racial conflict, lies, sex, psychological dilemmas, murder and more. It is suspenseful and exciting.

The book is written almost like a movie - each chapter has its own scene. Each scene has a set of characters that is being introduced to the reader in exquisite and elaborate detail so that the reader has a vivid picture of the story as it unfolds.. Each chapter leads the reader forward to another step in the unravelling of a suspenseful and mysterious story evoking feelings of fear and suspense. The conclusion is breath-taking and sensational. A VERY GOOD READ!

I just finished reading your book and I'm totally impressed with the story line, the characters and the character development. Your writing is absolutely fantastic and noteworthy. I love your style and the way that you convey the story and the plot.

The ending surprised me and I wondered how you were going to handle Grande as he pursued Angela. I enjoyed just how well you ended your thriller. I also enjoyed the supernatural aspects of your work and the philosophy you expressed. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to read your book - it is a masterpiece!
