Jackie Estacado, mafia hitman and Darkness wielder, died in a blaze of revenge. The Darkness, however, was not about to let him go so easily. It pieced him back together and wrenched him back from the depths of hell. Now, he must find a new place in a family that had moved on without him - and Jackie wants the top spot.
Paul Jenkins is a British comic book writer. He has had much success crossing over into the American comic book market. Primarily working for Marvel Comics, he has had a big part shaping the characters of the company over the past decade.
This is the vol where the Darkness gets back on track, Jackie has to deal with the other crime families while nobody suspects what he is really capable of when the lights go out, really gruesome things happen when they do, awesome stuff on that one!
The way the Darkness attacks is far improved this time around. It's less about jokes and more about eviscerations. Jackie himself is afraid of what can happen when the lights go out. The whole atmosphere of the comic is darker which is more fitting for the challenges Jackie faces.
Jackie is back from the dead, resurrected after the explosion he set off in the last issue. Paulie, Frankie's cousin from Chicago, is brought to take control of the Franchetti family and Jackie is high on his to-do list.
