Protecting Pookie
In 1870 Pookie is too damn pretty. She birthed me when twelve. I'm twelve, and she looks fifteen, entertaining in a Louisiana bordello. I shoot the foot off a sadist trying to kill her. We run and get robbed in Kansas. Mother opens a Where House. Girls choose guys they'll sleep with. She and the sheriff fall in love. I'm bashful and teased by hired girls, but I protect Pookie. I have real fast hands. I can shoot quicker than the bastards after the reward money. When Pookie's abducted, I go hell-bent after the sadistic kidnapper.
