WOW what a tale!
Shadowed Obsession is the first gripping book in the Shadow Defense Security series. I love a good suspense thriller and Mavery Ellscott’s debut book is just that. This is an author to watch.
The story is fast-paced, and the tension starts from the outset and doesn’t let up. I found myself on the edge of my set more often than not. I was also checking out my surroundings and being hypervigilant and that was just in my lounge room.
This romantic suspense thriller is high on danger, with characters who are well developed and interesting and plot lines that are gritty but feel believable. It is as captivating as it is disturbing and is highly entertaining. It is a riveting tale is full of suspense, action, intrigue, suspicions, attraction and humour.
Shadowed Obsession has a great plot and is well written drama.
With a stalker with sinister intent on the prowl her safety is paramount. The twisty turns keep you turning the pages.
When the normal channels can’t help Keira enlists the help of her sexy neighbour Cade and the Shadow Defense Security.
It is an absolute must read you won't be disappointed. I am patiently awaiting more now.

Wow!! This book was filled with suspense and intrigue!! Kiera works at a pr firm and is extremely gifted at her job. She’s in the process of being made partner when a stalker invades her blissful life. She starts receiving photos of herself at various times of the day and various places. To say she’s spooked is putting it mildly. She has no idea who her stalker could be or why her. She meets her new neighbor and he instantly recognizes the fear on her face. He can help. He is partnered in a security business. Can he really keep her safe? Can she really trust him? The suspense builds to an explosive level throughout the book!! A definite 10/10!! If a suspense thriller is what you’re looking for, look no further, it’s this book!!

Shadowed Obsession is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security series and debut novel by Mavery Ellscott. It is an engrossing romantic suspense with a dangerous and obsessed stalker, a deadly game of cat and mouse, sinister intent, slow-burn romance, thrills, action, tension, intrigue, suspense, chemistry, humour, creepiness, and more.
Keira O’Ryan is a hardworking P.R. specialist whose life has taken a bit of a sinister turn when an obsessed stalker begins following her every move, sending creepy messages that destroy her peace of mind. Cade Hartford is a former Navy SEAL turned private security operative who is recovering from an injury sustained during a previous mission gone wrong. He has just moved in next door to Keira and can’t help but be drawn into her stalker ordeal. When the stalking takes an even more dangerous turn, Cade and his team are determined to uncover the stalker before it’s too late. But this sinister foe seems to always be one step ahead of them- so the story takes a bit of an intense turn, bringing plenty of thrills along the way….
While I did enjoy the story, there were some issues that kept pulling me out of the story and interrupting the flow of the storyline. There was quite a lot of repeated information, thoughts/inner dialogue- as well as a lot of contradictions/conflicting information and details that I felt detracted from the otherwise stellar story. It has left me with mixed feelings as to what rating I should give this book because if there were not so many little issues, this would definitely be a five-star read for me… but as things stand the issues have detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story, so I feel that I can’t justify awarding it more than 3.5 stars, as things stand. I feel that these issues should have been caught in the beta reading stage, but definitely should have been picked up during the editing process. I feel for the author because these things should have been noted/corrected, which would make her book not only a superb story, but a professionally polished piece of work too. But, looking at the other reviews, I seem to be the only one who has noticed or feels this way, so maybe you should read the book for yourself and make up your own mind.
I will be following this series and look forward to seeing what happens in Book #2.

Intense. Oh wow. So, Mavery Ellscott is officially one of my top favorite new authors of the year. Before this book I hadn’t heard of this talented author but wow. Told from dual perspectives of Keira and Cade this book may be a slow-burn romance, but action, mystery and suspense start on page one.
Keira is a thirty-two-year-old PR rep that has had a rough couple of months mixed with a dream finally coming true. She has been invited by her bosses to become a partner with them, a dream fulfilled right. Wrong, she has worked too hard and won’t give up the chance easily even if that means keeping the lid closed on her past and now, she has a stalker. Cade is an ex-Navy SEAL that owns Shadow Defense Security, a private military contractor, with four of his fellow service brothers. From the first time they officially meet both are attracted to the other but have their own reservations. Cade notices instantly the stress when meeting Keira only made more concerning that evening when after a brief incident, she spills the truth to him. Saying the words out loud fills her with terror as she tries to keep up her appearance so that it doesn’t bother her. Her stalker is no longer content hiding behind their phone, all in one day he not only breaks into her car but her house. Cade’s seen and heard enough he’s not taking no for an answer he is going to help Keira.
Will Cade’s company be able to help Keira before it’s too late? Keira locked the door to her past but is it what’s haunting her now or is it someone else? Can Keira and Cade find a safe place in each other where the doors open up and the truth let out? The world the author creates is real, it happens every day to countless people, but unlike Keira they don’t all have an ex-Navy SEAL living next door whose next mission is to keep her safe. How the characters interact, and their internal monologues is very relatable not only in the funny or reminiscent moments but in the fearful ones where you forget how to think, and you just do. Keira and Cade could be your neighbors, friends, colleagues, seeing them not only figure out who and why she is being stalked but the comfort they bring each other keeps you rushing to finish the page just to see what will happen on the next one. I will be keeping an eye out for the next instalment in this new suspense series.

Shadowed Obsession is Book One in the Shadow Defense Security Series. It is a fast-paced, action-packed, gripping psychological thriller that will surely give you goosebumps and leave you on pins and needles. Keira is a PR Specialist who prides herself on being smart, successful, independent, and strong but when she starts receiving photos anonymously on her phone of her, she becomes on edge. At first, she attempts to ignore the photos until she starts receiving ones taken of her while she is at home. Keira realizes that it is obvious that she is being stalked and that she can no longer ignore what has been happening. She enlists the help of her new neighbor, Cade, who is a private security operative and together the two try to determine her stalker’s identity. The problem is that the obsessed stalker always seems to be one step ahead of Cade and his team. Will they be able to save Keira from her stalker?
I loved the writing in this book and thought that the story flowed nicely. I was pulled into the story from the first pages and became fully immersed in the life of Keira. The characters of her and Cade were done wonderfully, and they were engaging and relatable. Keira was a force to be reckoned with in the world of PR and was determined, feisty, and strong. Cade was charming, sweet, kind, smart, and strong. The two together had amazing chemistry and seemed perfectly suited to one another. I was riveted until the end as I anxiously read to see who Keira’s stalker was, if they would be caught, and if the chemistry between Keira and Cade would develop into more. A fantastic read full of action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, romance, and twists and turns that will keep you reading until the very end. I highly recommend this book!

Wow wow wow!! Talk about a debut....well done so well done. I could not put this book down and I was at the edge of my seat from chapter 1 until the bitter end. This gave me all the feels I love about a book....suspense, danger, intrigue, action and chemistry between two characters that are off the charts. The twists and turns that this story had.....just when I thought I had it all figured out....definite jaw dropping moments. I am already looking forward to more more more!
Cade Hartford, Navy Seal, has his own business with his partners as private security. His duty is to protect at all costs. When a prior case handed him an injury....leading him to moving into a new house that happens to be next to none other than Keira O'Ryan. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Keira bringing her trash to the street when she gets an AirDrop message on her cellphone. She has been getting a lot of these and is concerned and as a result has her barrel overturn. Cade her neighbor is just returning from dropping his in front and stops to help. Cade introduces himself and picks up one of the bags while Keira picks another. Keira drops hers and it spills messing Cade's shoes. Cade doesn't let it bother him and tells her that he will pick up the mess and bring the barrel to the street so Keira can get to work. Cade was not in a hurry to get to work because of what happened in the earlier book, Gray Code Liaison.
Things get worse for Keira when she discovers someone broke into her home and she notified Cade who tried to get the intruder. Cade later learns that Keira has been being stocked and makes arrangements to protect her. It evens winds up that Cade's company, Shadow Defense Security, is brought in to handle security at her company's firm as well as protecting Keira. Keira finally tells Cade who she original thought the stalker was, but she found out that person wasn't the stalker once she confronted him.
As time went by, more information was learned and it was found that this individual was a serial killer. It now was important that Keira didn't go anywhere alone, but Keira had other ideas and it really cost her.
To discover who the stalker was, what actions Cade took in trying to protect her, what developed between Cade and Keira as well as how it worked out in the end, then you need to read this book. You won't be sorry!

Kiera O’Ryan is smart, successful and is good at her job, but there is one thing that has her searching the dark corners and causing her to question her sanity she has a stalker. Although she has requested help from the Montana Police they can’t seem to find or locate who the person is. They always feel one step ahead, until she recruits her neighbour to help.
Cade Hartford is ex-forces and working for a Private Military contractor but when his neighbour comes to him to help with her stalker problem, he jumps straight in to help, the only problem is this stalker is always ahead of them and it feels very much like a game of cat and mouse.
Can Cade help Kiera find the culprit and recuse Kiera?
This is the first book I have read from this author and will not be the last, the twists and turns in this book have you at the edge of your seat with anticipation.
The story is well written, and the main characters are well balanced and suit each other brilliantly, the chemistry between them jumps off the page and adds to the flow of the story as the drama builds. The character of Cade is a great alpha male and as I say I love a flawed character and he has his hang-ups along the way, although with the strong female character of Kiera and her strong will and sassy nature this makes a brilliant combination.
As this book can be read as a standalone, I can’t wait for the next book in this series and I believe Mavery Ellscott has just become another author in my very long TBR list.

This is my kind of book right here!!! Give me a Navy SEAL or any other military character and a psychological maniac on the loose and weave some words together and you've got me hooked!!!

Not to mention that college ex-boyfriend who got really creepy. After receiving a series of photos on her phone, she starts to become even more alarmed.
Cade Hartford and a few of his retired military buddies run a security firm. He's recently moved in next door to Keira and senses that something is up with her. When she comes to him confessing the pictures and the strange happenings going on, Cade knows that he has to jump in and do something to be a great neighbor.
There are many things I want to say about this book but I'm not going to say much as to not ruin anything about it. Just know that if you're into a good psychological thriller, look no further than this book! It kept my attention all afternoon and I read it in one setting. The writing is very well done and the there are a few twists and turns that try to throw the reader off track (as well as the detectives). I did have it figured out pretty early but a few times I questioned whether I was right or not due to the the twists and turns. It wasn't quite as I suspected though! Buckle up and enjoy this read! I've already downloaded the prequel to this book and I look forward to reading it and future books by this author soon!!

This action packed romantic suspense thriller was a real page turner and it had me hooked throughout. Danger from the start!!!
The author doesn't wait to give you the sense that something is wrong ... and then KEEPS that tension throughout the book!
Here I'll admit I don't do well with thriller, which is where the author, Ellscott, does her work brilliantly. The tension is there without me having to check my back seat obsessively. But there is also a splash of attraction (starting IN THE FIRST CHAPTER -- and I am, oh so romantic so I LOVE that!) ... and Ellscott adds humor too!
Action, attraction, and humor -- a dynamite trio! -- that keeps you guessing "whodunnit?"!
And that's just from the start! The book gets better from there, never really letting up. Both main characters are mature in their reasoning, priorities, and decisions. (No action is simply thrown in for plot's sake.) As the suspicions rise (ooh, Ellscott certainly adds twists!), so do the stakes! Throw in some spice, and you've got a fantastic thriller.
Oh! And feeds very well from the prequel ... and yet, leaves you hungry for her next book.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "SHADOWED OBSESSION" I was hooked on this intense suspense filled gripping riviting story right from the start full of action, danger, intrigue, steam, a stalker on the loose, twists that keeps you turning the pages.

This is the start of a brand new romantic suspense series that I truly loved and cannot wait for the rest of the books to come out. The plot is excellent and filled with twists and turns that make you keep wanting to read more. The characters are so very well developed. Kiera is working for a PR firm and has a stalker. However, the police department has been unsuccessful in finding the stalker. She isn’t your typical damsel in distress though and she enlists the help of her neighbor. Cade is ex special forces and more than willing to help. But what the author does even better than the suspense is writing in the attraction between Cade and Kiera. It is undeniable from the start. It kept me hoping that not only they would find the stalker, but also that they would get their happily ever after. I felt that Cade and Kiera were very well written and that the plot was well paced. I definitely recommend picking this one up for fans of romantic suspense.

For a debut book, I think the author did a great job. The plot was riveting, the characters were well rounded and the book was well written. It is a suspenseful thriller which will keep you guessing. Twists and turns will keep you turning the pages. The romance will keep you hoping for a happy ending. Keira is smart, beautiful and a force to be reckoned with in the PR business. Unintentionally attracting a stalker, her life is on the line. Thank goodness for her sexy neighbour who happens to be an ex navy seal and now owns a security company (how convenient). Cade takes the job and quickly falls for Keira. Tensions mount as the stalker closes in on his prey. Cade can’t afford to fail especially not when he realizes Keira is the love that he has been looking for. The story is full of action and intrigue. It is a great start to this series.

Kiera O'Ryan does all things well. Works hard, and can do most things independently. Having said that, Kiera finds herself running from a stalker. When she turns to the police for help, they find nothing to back up her story. Cade Hartford, served his country, and afterwards joined a Private Military contractor. When his neighbor turns to him for help, his answer is yes. Now the real story begins. Can Cade help Kiera get away from her stalker? With romance also in the turn of events can they both fight the pull? This is the beginning of the series. Being a new to me author. But after reading this story, there will be many more intriguing stories to be read. I love her characters and the twists, turns and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is a stand alone and the beginning of what looks to be a great series. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. This series is off to a great start.

Cade picks up on the nervousness Keira is trying to hide and he’s an ex navy seal that’s trying to recover from trauma and injury but his natural instinct to protect is stronger and when the heart gets involved lines get blurred and the desire to protect intensifies. Cade also is part of Shadow Defense Securities which is made of former seals like himself #hotnessoverload#🔥❣️
Keira hears someone in her house but manages to get to Cade without being detected and their suspense and tension filled journey starts…

Cade is back and is still healing from his last job…where he lost someone he deeply cared about to betrayal. He has just moved into a condo and meets his neighbor Keira. Keira is just about to make a partner in the company she works for. She has a stalker…a decade ago something horrid happened to her…could it be them messing with her? Sending photos of her to herself of things she does? Sending flowers? Texts? She is running scared but also furious! Turns out, Cade will have to step in along with his partners. Things will turn very dangerous as the one or ones doing this dial up the incidents. They have no clue who is doing this or how. Or why~ They are taking all the precautions they can to help protect her…then they start including others…is the stalker or stalkers willing to kill next? What do they want from her? Shadowed Obsession (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 1) by Mavery Ellscott. This is such a great 1st book in this Shadow Defense Security Series. Its the story of Kiera who is a high profile Public Relations Rep and very independent, intelligent and hard working. When she finds out she has a very tech savvy stalker. When the Montana Police Department can't even figure out who he is she goes to her new neighbor Cade Hartford to help her. Cade is a retired Navy Seal and currently works for Shadow Defense Security. The stalking really picks up at one point and Cade is even worried he won't be able to keep Kiera safe. While Kiera and Cade spend a lot of time together of course they begin to have feelings for each other and there are a few steamy scenes! I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one!

I was immediately immersed in this story and felt connected to Keira from the get go.
Keira is the kind of heroine I like, independent, strong and stands up for herself. She has a stalker and has no idea who it could be except maybe someone from her past.
When her run in with her neighbor Cade uncovers he's in security , she gains someone in her corner.
Cade is on leave from an injury received on his last mission. When his interaction with Keira shows signs she may be in trouble or scared, he steps in and helps, not knowing what messy web he's really going to uncover.
I can usually guess the who and while I was partly right I wasn't expecting the how and why.

This was such an explosive start to what looks like an amazing series! I have not read anything from this author before, but I will definitely be checking out her other works ASAP. The book starts off strong with action right from the start and we see the intense chemistry between Keira and Cade and it was steamy. He was such a strong and sexy hero and Keira was such an amazing heroine. She had a rough past that had definitely colored her present, but she pushed through. This book definitely had you feeling the suspense of who is after Keira and the author did an amazing job of multiple red herrings. I couldn’t put the book down until I finished the last page. It definitely had me guessing until the final reveal. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

My go-to genre isn't necessarily to pick a thriller, so I was pleasantly surprised with Shadowed Obsession. Suspense was woven throughout the novel as Keira's stalker ramped up their tactics and sexual tension rose between Keira and her attractive retired Seal neighbor, Cade.
I am glad this is a series with the Shadowy Defense Security company Cade is a part of, I felt like there was so much more to explore with Cade and his partner's backgrounds. Pieces of their stories were touched upon, but between the Shadow Defense prior military experiences and the clients Keira had at the PR firm, there are a lot of opportunities to expand upon and I hope character development overlaps!
Very enjoyable read, with just the right amount of sexual tension to make the romance aspect just as fun!

Shadowed Obsession by Mavery Ellscott is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security series. I felt like this book had a perfect pace as the story of Keira O'Ryan unfolded. She is a PR representative with a bit of a past she'd rather forget, and a stalker who is trying to work their way into literally every nook and cranny of her life to spy on her. She has a neighbor who happens to be a very attractive ex-Navy SEAL and owns his own security company. Cade tries to help keep Keira safe and get to this stalker before harm comes to her. Tension, thrill, and wonderful writing accentuate these well-fleshed characters and plot. I absolutely recommend if you are interested in a fast-paced, but well written thriller. I look forward to see what is next for the Shadow Defense Security series!

This book is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security series, and it definitely did not disappoint. I truly cannot wait to see what comes next from this series and this author. Mavery Ellscott weaves a tale of mystery, intrigue, suspense, and love. Keira O’Ryan is soon to be a partner at her PR company, but she has a secret she’s been keeping for months. She has been getting AirDrop images of herself sent by an unknown number, that not only make her feel uncomfortable, but also let her know that she has a stalker who is intent on keeping tabs on her. When her neighbor, Cade Hartford intervenes to try and help her find her stalker and stop the terrifying ramp up of the things that are going on around Keira. This book will keep you guessing to the end.

What an amazing start to the series! I loved Keira and Cade so much, and the author had my immediately invested in these characters. They are relatable and their chemistry is wonderful. I was drawn in from the very first page and couldn’t read fast enough through the twists and turns! The synopsis is artfully worded as to not give anything away, so I won’t either. I’ll be you have to guess through the entire book what is happening and who is behind it because I sure as heck couldn’t make up my mind. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series as this author has a brilliant way with words. I highly recommend picking this one up if you’re a fan of romantic suspense with a touch of danger!

Cade tries to help her as much as possible, but will it be enough to keep her safe? Slowly a romance emerges, but is it enough for them? Will the threat of an intruder and stalker keep them apart forever? This is the first story in the Shadow Defense Security Series and is full of suspense, romance, adventure and mystery. I can't wait for the second book in the series!

Shadowed Obsession by Mavery Ellscott is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. Kiera O’Ryan is a beautiful PR rep who has a stalker. Cade Hartford is her private military contractor neighbor who jumps at the chance to help catch Kiera’s stalker when the Montana police can’t. These two are attracted to each other but try to keep it business only because they cannot afford to be distracted by each other. The chemistry between Cade and Kiera was fun. I liked both of these characters. I love that they are comfortable together. This was a well-written and intense romance/suspense story. It is a fast-paced story with plenty of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book.

Shadowed Obsession is the first action packed, gripping book in the Shadow Defense Security Series and what a story it was. I’m always drawn to books that involve a male main character that is in the Mafia or Military, is usually a little rough around the edges, dark, or has some quirk and this book had that. Add in a smart, successful, independent, strong woman and it’s the icing on the cake. Keira hires Cade and his security team when she realizes that a stalker that has been after is taking things a bit too far. Cade and Keira were relatable characters and their chemistry was off the charts throughout the novel. Then tension and danger throughout is pretty constant and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Lots of action. Interested to see what comes next.
