Rivers and Roads #2

Undeterred: A Contemporary Omegaverse Romance

Rate this book
My body has betrayed me and my love life is not only complicated, but quite possibly a total lie—simply a byproduct of the abuse my father put me through.

Not knowing how, or if, to trust myself, I must rely on my new friends to help guide me through as I search for the sweet spot between what’s real, what I want, and what I can actually have.

If sorting through my suitors weren’t enough, I’m also navigating life as a fully-fledged college student and trying to figure out my future on a campus haunted by a recent attack on omegas and growing security threats.

Things might be a mess, but I refuse to be defeated.

Unfortunately, life may have other plans.

Undeterred is the second book in the Rivers and Roads series. Full of humor, heart, and drama, this is a college-aged, slow burn, non-shifting omegaverse RH romance (MFMMM). Book two ends in a cliffhanger and the story will resolve in book three.

*Recommended 18+ due to mature language, adult situations, and sensitive content.

First off, this is not a standalone and book 1 must be read first as it ends in a cliffhanger. Picking up right where we left off in book 1, chaos ensues as Espy is seemingly going into heat. Meanwhile, we’re still dealing with a security scare and omegas all around campus are in fear of being the next victim.

Espy manages to get to a doctor and being that she is deadly afraid of going into heat and is still working through the trauma she experienced in book one, they recommend meds that will essentially work as heat suppressants. Upon recovering, Espy finally agrees to a courtship, but I won’t spoil the details! Ultimately, Espy starts coming into her own and learning how to live as an independent omega, with the help of her guys of course. We finally get a bit more steamy times but still no knotting or bonds yet lol

We end on another cliffhanger but this time we have a pretty good idea of what happened..it’s just a matter of waiting for book three to finally see how it all plays out!

I really enjoyed this one! In the first book, we had the heavier topics and an overall darker feel; and in this one, we get the sweeter side of things. Throughout the courtship, Espy is learning how to be comfortable in her sexual exploration, and is definitely gaining more confidence. I still enjoyed the writing just as much as book 1, and I’m liking where the story is going! There is so much potential with these characters and this omega (as well as side characters who would be perfect for future series hopefully!)

I definitely feel like this series would be great for OV newbs who already have experience reading dark romance, as the first book deals with some heavy content. Can’t wait for book 3!!

This second book in the Rivers and Roads series is just as good as the first installment. I loved Espy from the start as she shines from within, so one could not help but admire the tender soul that the FMC has. The main protagonist is still navigating the world out of captivity and at the same time it was such a pleasure seeing her experience a swirl of positive emotions as she discovers the true meaning of devotion, care, support and the blooming love towards her pack.
The complicated world of omegas, alphas and betas is fascinating as complex hierarchical structures captivate me and I wonder to what extent is the principle of equality being incorporated by the ruling government. It is evident that there are those who disagree with the freedom that omegas have been granted, so I am curious to see whether the vicious radical groups would be put to justice for all of their vile deeds.
Everly Falls has written a splendid story as she has taken her time to explore each of the characters, allowed time for the bonds to be slowly built and of course, managed to transmit the genuine care and love that transpires between Espy and the MMCs.
Although I expected a cliffhanger, this ending of the second book left me a bit gobsmacked. Just when things started to feel a bit more balanced, the FMC seems to find herself in another complicated situation. I am eagerly awaiting the continuation of Espy’s story.

Undeterred picks right up from where book one left off, with Espy feeling like she is going into heat and all her Alpha's being, well Alpha-holes ! Except of course, they aren't really.

This book is all about Espy, Mason, Cabe, Micah and Lincoln, adapting to the raging hormones of their designations, particularly for Espy with her past trauma. For her, the lack of control that her Omega side brings out, is frightening.

Her men are adorable though and prove themselves with patience, though things are definitely starting to get spicier, which is welcomed.

Threaded through all this is the ongoing matter of the Omega kidnappings, bringing a close call for Espy and her friend and another cliffhanger ending (you have been warned).

The story is gripping enough to keep me engaged, but what I particularly loved about this book was how the author explored Espy's relationships, not only with her men, but new friendships and the difficult situation with her brother too.

I can't wait for book three as I feel all hell is going to break loose. The heat will be on, both in and out of the nest!

I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I was glad to see the progression in the relationship between Espy and the guys and also Lincoln and his own relationship with the guys. I was also glad to see Espy finally looking for answers and help outside the guys like researching and finally going to a O meeting. I didn't understand why she would sit on her questions and misunderstandings about things going on in her life and the lives around her. I also didn't understand why she kept disregarding her bad feelings and things she knew weren't right. I'm glad she finally opened up to her brother although she still seemed to hold back. Seeing her come into her own mind, body and omega nature was really fun to read and be privy to. I wonder if Leo will breakaway from his remaining pack member and join the pack MacKenzie seems to be getting close with. I was hoping to see that since her omega nature is effecting her more that we'd see her grow more comfortable with nests and heat. But after that cliffhanger it's hard to tell what kind if any setbacks she may face. Overall it was another great addition and hopefully the next is a bit longer. Espy thinks she may be broken. It's possible her father's experiments permanently damaged her. How else can she explain falling for one pack and an Alpha from her brother's pack? Now her brother is upset, Espy is confused, and her mind and body are betraying her. But her pack plus seems to have a plan. Maybe it can all work out?

I really liked the first book and while I enjoyed this one too, I think it took a step backwards. I'm not sure this should have been a trilogy. The pacing was off and it dragged. I think this story might have been better as a duet. It would have eliminated so much repetition, and it might have helped to build the suspense. It also would have helped to be more suspenseful if there hadn't been so much foreshadowing. Those are my complaints but there were plenty of positives too. Espy is healing. she's discovering her sexuality. This book is spicy. The budding bromance between Lincoln and Cabe is great, I know it's going to ramp up (Don't disappoint me). They crack me up. Lincoln. We got more Lincoln time and I am all for it. The book got predictable towards the end and with the cliffhanger. I hope some surprises are coming up.

This was an EXCELLENT sequel to Undeterred! We pick up right where we left off with Espy entering her heat and Lincoln having dropped his bombshell of feelings. I absolutely love how loving Espy's men are and I love that we're not left hanging regarding the building of relationships. I usually love an angsty plot but I felt like this story build was so real and relatable; we were not left reading through pages and pages of drama (though there was more than enough to keep my interest). I also loved how Espy and Leo's sibling relationship grew throughout this book. I was so upset with him the first book and was happy to see him pull his head out of his a**. The book does leave off on a cliffhanger, though not a major one (IMO) and I honestly can't wait for the next book. It's hard to believe that these are the debut novels of Everley as they are SO well written and developed. Highly recommend!

I loved the first book in this series and I was waiting for book two, whoa! it was AMAZING!! Book two is DEFINITELY better than the first!!!

After the cliffhanger of book one, this one picked up where it left off. Poor Espy is a mess! Her past abuse makes everything so much harder for her. But seeing Espy grow and her 3 alpha guys and 1 sweetheart of a beta all get close and become a tight group, it was so well done and so yummy! Lincoln is definitely my favorite, with his “touch her and die” vibes, but I love them all…and how can you not love sweet little Espy?!!

Now I really need book three!!!!! I mean NOW!!!! After that ending I want to cry because I have to wait. I highly recommend this Omegaverse Romance!!!

I can't rate this because, I DNF it "for now".
The original book came across as a standalone/completed series through my timeline on facebook but, it is NOT a completed series. The last book doesn't come out until December, and I am not willing to get into the 2nd book, and have to wait THAT LONG for the punchline.
Sorry folks but, if I had known it was not completed, I would not have even read the first book.
I hate when this happens because, the AUTHOR would have had to have marked it as "complete" for it to have passed through my timeline. It's how I have it set up... so, to say I am disappointed is an understatement.

I will come back to this book in December. Especially to save myself a "re-read"...

Omg, the author nailed this cliff hanger!! Again, same as the book previously it really stops right in the middle of a great scene and makes the reader feel desperate to know what's happening next.

Rated it a star less, as the first book is always mainly all the characters being introduced and getting to know each other and whilst I understand this is a slow burn, I was still hoping for more to happen in the second book. I love the character and relationship development though. and think it's well done but I would like a little more from the MMC's POVs but honestly overall I'm really loving this series!

Received this as an ARC.

After all the excitement of how book one ended I was super happy to find out what exactly happened.

I really appreciate the chance she’s giving the pack. Taking time to get to know them and learn more about who she is as an omega.

Watching her regain her confidence and follow her instincts makes me so happy for her.

The pack is very funny. The MMC’s leaning into their pack growth and spending time together getting closer to each other is so to heartwarming.

But that ending!!! The wait for the next book is gonna feel long lol

I’m really enjoying this series and look forward to more work from this author.

From the start, this book had my attention right away.
It picked up where the first left off. We find out what happens when Espy runs away.

There was just a bit of drama, humor, a little more spice, and an assortment of emotions.
Mostly, I think this book focuses on the healing and growth of Espy. It was good to see her become a little more confident.
I loved seeing the connections between her and the guys build more and more. The way they showed her comfort and cared for her made me happy.

I didn't think the cliffhanger was too bad. It only made me more excited for book 3!!
Overall, I think this was a great addition to the series!!

Safety and Belonging:
This was a solid book two in this series. In the world of college-attending alphas/omegas/betas, there is still the angst of self discovery and being vulnerable as new relationships grow. I really enjoyed watching Espy try navigate all of these things with her potential and very hopeful pack. The ongoing threat to omegas kept that bit of edge to the story, as if something is going to happen. With the surprising cliffhanger ending, I can’t wait to see how things are resolved in the next novel.

Undeterred is Book 2 of Rivers and Roads series by Everley Falls. This book picks up right where the first book ends. It is full of attraction, love and steam. Having four guys after you is every girls dream. Espy is getting used to college life and feeling more secure with having her new pack around her. The guys try to keep her safe and fall in love with her. The ending is surprising but not a total surprise. The way it happened was the surprising bit. I totally recommend this book to all romance readers.

"Undeterred" is the second book in the "Rivers and Roads" series, and it mostly focusses on the relationship building between Esperanza and her men. There's a big focus in this second book on dating, spending time together and slowly adding more steam to their encounters, while navigating daily life. As a result, I have to admit I missed a bit of storyline. Yes, there are still threats being mentioned, but it all feels a bit like background. I'm not necessarily opposed to stories being all about building and strengthening connections, it just fell a little flat for me.

Men say that women are emotional but Ooooo Boyyyy, the beginning of this book proves that wrong. Epsy going into a blind panic doesn't help the situation either.
I so truly enjoy book 2 as much as I enjoyed book 1, I loved reading the progression of Epsy's relationships and how Micha, Gabe & Mason are willing to accept Lincoln. It's progress from how the book opened. LOL
The character development is fantastic and I cannot wait to read about what happens next, I mean seriously this young lady needs a break and to be able to move on with her pack of hunk-a hunk-a burning men!

You absolutely have to read book 1 before you read this book. This book picks up right where the first book ended. Espy and her guys and friends think she just got her first heat. This book is about Espy coming into her own as she grows more confident in herself and friends, guys and brother. Her guys are growing into who Espy needs them to be . Lincoln, Mason, Cabe and Micah are working together so that they can all be with Espy. Then the ending happens and it is a huge cliffhanger. I absolutely 💯 % recommend this series and I can't wait for book 3.

I loved book two in the Rivers and Roads series just as the first!

Picking up where we left off, Espy and her men and are slowly growing their relationship, and I really enjoyed seeing the growth of the bonds between them and between Espy and her brother Leo. This isn't a book that rushes past the effects of past trauma, and it's all the stronger for it… but then we have that cliffhanger!

Now I can't wait for book three!!

Really enjoyed the second installment!
My biggest gripe with the book was the "resolution" with her brother. I thought we would get something more than what we did. It felt super empty because she didn't say anything, she didn't share how she felt or her frustrations seeing him care about the wellbeing of others while ignoring hers for years. He just said he was sorry that he had "no excuse" and then they moved on.

Overall, enjoyed the direction this series is moving and can't wait for the next one!

I was impatiently waiting for this book! I will say I kinda messed myself up, as I waited until this book came out to read book 1 as I thought it was a duet and didn't read the clearly stated words that it was 3 books...., that's on me though. However, I loved this book! I have really enjoyed Espy and her packs evolution, the spice picked up in this book, but it is still all very believable especially with Espy's journey. I can't wait for book 3 to finally get the conclusion as this book ended on 1 hell of a cliffhanger, and at the worst time!

I loved book 1, and was superexcited to get book 2!! I really loved it. The characters are as amazing as always, and I truly love them and they fit so well together. This book is definitely more spicy than book 1, and usually I’m not into a lot of spice but it worked really well here since there were also cute and cozy moments.

The cliffhanger though, really makes me mad 😝 I simply can’t wait for book 3!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I need the next book rn, that cliffhanger killed me!! This book was so so good, I loved how their relationships have developed and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

My thoughts are much the same as the last book, but I have loved watching Epsy learn more about being an omega, and becoming a badass (training in self defense, and building snow caves).

If you love why choose romance, omegaverse, and slow burn, definitely pick up this series!!

Espy and her boys, so hot!

An excellent second installment to this series. I was instantly sucked in, and couldn't put it down! Espy is really coming into her own, and I love, love, love the complexities to her different relationships. So well written. I will be impatiently waiting for book 3!

This book is complete torture. I really hope the next book is the last book because I can't handle another cliffhanger. This book had me on the edge of my seat it had me crying at some point. There's just so much trauma to work through that sometimes it was hard.

I love this series. I couldn't wait to get to this one, now the next can't come soon enough. December is too far away. It's funny, sweet, a little sexy, lots of drama still. I love the entire group, even the side people. The growing pack is adorable, and now what!!! I can't wait to find out. So very good.

The story evolves slowly, the action is mostly about the developing relationships between the characters, focusing on both emotional and physical growth.

The FMC is struggling with trauma, and is taking good steps toward healing before a set-back resolves into a cliff-hanger.

still a v cute series that i‘m excited to continue. a bit more rambling in this one but the steamy scenes made up for that - obviously saw the cliffhanger coming and i‘ll say the predictability of it sucked the joy out of the ending a bit
