When her husband is lost at sea, Libby's world is torn apart not only by the death, but the revelation that he led a secret life. Libby and Tony had led a quiet life with little ever happening out of the ordinary, until Tony's untimely death when life for Libby spiralled dramatically. Her quest for the truth leads her into the perilous underworld where she realises that she never knew the man she loved. As the truth unfolds, Libby finds she can trust no one and has to make a life-threatening decision. Should she take the risk or get out while she can? This is a powerful drama encompassing crime, intrigue, danger and passion.
Do we ever really know the people closest to us? That is the theme of this book. As I've come to expect from this author, the characters are complex and the story well written.
Libby seems to have no success with men. Her first husband is unfaithful with her best friend. Her second husband is a bigamist. Can she get it right on the third try?
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Being married to someone, and thinking you know them, and to find out it all was a lie. Would surely devastate a person, and you wonder how you didn’t pick up on it. Then to find out it was the worst scenario you could think of. Did she really want answers, especially when it would be a high price to pay. Enjoyable, and an easy to read, and one wants to see what decisions she does make. Will her world ever be the same again.
I picked this book up in another authors promotion for an honest review. Do we ever really know our spouse, or are you married to An opaque figure? When you read this book, it makes you wonder if there's another layer to your marriage. Unfortunately this is what happens. A good concept, characters well develop, you feel the pain this wife feels, and yet wonder how she was so oblivious. An enjoyable read.
I approached this with an open mind, trying to appreciate the good and overlook the bad. Unfortunately, there was a little too much of the latter, and not enough of the former. The characters were shallowly depicted, with too much tell and not enough show. Various technical issues, along with poor dialogue, eventually had me walking away.
