Great scary story for young readers. Scary story about a shadow monster. How do you fight a shadow? With friendship, duh. Good story with a cute ending.

I don't know why it's called "Revenge of the Shadow People." It's about shadow monsters who feed off children. Of course, maybe it's the shadows of the children that are seeking revenge against the monsters? Anyway, I really like R.L. Stine and the Goosebumps series. It was nice to read something by him again.

I'm 32 and still glad I didn't read this at night. R.L. Stine has a really incredible way of packing a lot of creepy into a short novel.

It's alright, I wouldn’t re-read this ever again. It's just about a shadow monster that comes after children and takes their body to a cave for energy to live. That's basically it. Also, the ending was dumb didn't make sense.

Mark Garro’s cover does this story lots of justice. I’ve had my eye on this one because the cover was a favorite of mine, and the story was just mediocre as hell. Easily on the weaker spectrum of this series, with some notable positives. Shadow monsters creep me out, and this didn’t scare me (I’m 15 as of writing this so I’m not surprised) but it was really neat to see play out. I feel that there’s a really good basis for a story buried beneath a prevalent negative I have, and this could’ve been a great and memorable book from this series if said negative fucked off. There’s some decently spooky bits involving the monsters and the reveals towards the end were, again, conceptually really good if this issue weren’t here (getting to negatives now): the writing is… yikes. Jahnna Malcom has a very rough style that awkwardly jumps through scenes, formats sentences, and most notably have really inconsistent pacing. Sorry girl, yo writing is drizzling shits (at least here, but hey, this was thirty years ago so no offense). There’s even three noticeable typos here, excluding the intentionally incorrect dialogue from the baby in the book. That’s not a good thing to have typos from a published book. There’s also a literal error in the story: Vinny spills chips and milk on the carpet, never picks it up, and no one even notices it or brings it up. What the fuck. Moving on from writing, there’s the fact that this book is… bland? That’s a safe way to say it. Nothing about this screams flavor and it feels like it was pumped out as a filler book with the only selling point being “spooky shadow monsters,” which I will shamelessly admit worked lmao. It’s got tropes and predictable scenes, as well as bland characters. I only really liked Bobby, and he was barely in the book lol. The characters are bland and the story has a weaker first half. And, the ending could’ve been a lot better. Overall, 5.5/10, no rounding to three stars. I don’t hate this, but I don’t like this. My GoFS luck as of late is turning to ballocks. Oh yeah… there wasn’t even any revenge!

Bobby knows all about the monsters on fear street. When Vinny calls the police to report the shadow monster, the whole police station listens in for a good time. I kept expecting Bobby to be some kind of monster, but nah he's just a kid. The shadows attack vinny and drain him of energy, splitting his own shadow from his body. Bobby manages to get his body back...but is he safe?

Now that I’ve remembered this series, what better month than October to read as many of them as I can?!

I don’t think I ever read this one as a kid, but it was pretty decent. I especially liked the ending!

Another one of the more solid ones. The pace is especially quick which can be a problem for something that I feel could have more deliberately paced. The concept actually ends up being a little creepy with how the shadow people sap people's energy and especially when we see what happens to other kids who were attacked by the shadow people. It still manages to be creepy enough despite the pace and I get these are built to be these super quick stories all the time.

It's able to do what it can with with the idea, especially in the third act when Vinny becomes a shadow. That said, there could have been more of an explanation to how the shadow people came to be and the friend Sharon is kind of terrible. (Although I like how her photography skills becomes important)

Pretty straight forward and creepy enough to be on the more solid side for the series.

(Side note, I hope you don't consider the fact that the shadow people come from a cave a spoiler because The Boy Who Ate Fear Street gives that away in passing. Yes, this series, despite the different authors, had enough continuity to slightly spoil another book, weird

Handlung
[Klappentext]

„Kein Schattenspiel!

Revenge of the Shadow People feels different to many of R L Stine books I have read I am a big of fan of children horror stories this was the first one I found all three main characters relatable and realistic compared to his before what you wish for stories where the characters are horrible and unrealistic.

I would like to read more books out of the Ghosts of Fear Street series I would recommend Revenge of the Shadow People to children horror story fans who likes a bit of mystery and horror.

This was a really good quick read. The shadows were creepy, the energy feeding was creepy, the cave in the woods... creepy. This was very good and it had a good ending. There was also some humor and the acting out of the shadows was described so well I could see everything vividly. The author who wrote this one *stine didn't write any ghosts of FS* did very good with description, creeps, humor, and twist ending just like stine

I like the idea of the book, the atmosphere of the story and the idea of the presence of a terrifying shadow as well, The plot was average but the writing style retract somewhat in the last chapter of the story.
a good middle grade book to read even if you are an adult and you will enjoy it.

One of the more solid Stine reads I've touched since I started this project. There's goo, there's shadow people, there's the requisite tacked on twist ending. Hits all the marks, and hits 'em well!

I like this book because it was a mystery and it was all about ghosts and it was a thriller. What I like about this book is that the author did it just right to give you jumps and it was a very detailed book. I think that 6 graders would like this book because they could handle it and be scared at the jumpy parts.

I wanted to try something from the Fear Street series, and this didn't disappoint. RL Stine is consistent creepy fun. It read very much like a Goosebumps that's matured 2 or 3 years but still for the under 14 crowd.

The main characters are Vinny, Bobby and Sharon. The story takes place in a house. The main idea of the story is that weird things have been happening to his shadow. The problem in the story is the shadow is it is after Vinny. They kill all the bad shadows and everything was fine. I really liked the book because it is really hard to make everything go fine.
